My husband and I visited Porterhouse Grill for our anniversary. We experienced outstanding customer…read moreservice, and the cocktails and steak were amazing. Our waitress was attentive, and she made the best cocktails. The mashed potatoes, the crème brûlée, and the cheesecake were good. My husband loved the garlic bread, but I thought it was too salty. I did not love the steamed veggies. I felt they were overcooked and over-seasoned. I would have had a better experience if my reservation note had been considered for where we were sited. It was a special occasion for my husband and me, and we were sat at the first table from the entrance, in front of the bar, when the restaurant only had seven guests. It was cold outside, and every time the door opened, I felt the wind come in. We were sited immediately next to another couple, and it was a table set for four people when it was a date for two. I understand the need to make a reservation, but why would the restaurant ask what the occasion is if the staff will not consider a special setup for the occasion? Porter House Grill gets a 5 out of 5 because it is a steakhouse, and their steaks are absolutely delicious. Additionally, their cocktails are amazing, and Customer Service was terrific, Porter House does not have a private parking lot; consider bringing quarters for street parking, or you may use a parking garage nearby. Cons: Porter House does not consider your reservation notes to make a guest's special occasion memorable.

Our experience at Porterhouse Grill was disappointing from beginning to end…read more When we arrived, our waitress commented that it was "really busy for a Tuesday." The restaurant was bustling, but there were still empty tables and an unused back section. Regardless, the restaurant appeared overwhelmed by the customers it did have. Upon entering, I noticed an old, aged smell and visible black/brown grease or grime buildup on the vent hood near the kitchen pass-through. Our appetizers were fine. The problems began with our entrées. About 30 minutes after ordering, we were told several steaks we'd ordered weren't available and had to change our orders. Approximately ANOTHER 30 minutes later, we were told additional steak selections were unavailable, requiring more changes. One person attempted to order surf and turf but was told to order a steak and add lobster instead. The lobster add-on alone was approximately $70, yet what arrived wasn't an identifiable lobster tail--it was pieces placed over the steak. Based on the size and taste, the person who ordered it compared it more to crayfish and questioned whether it was actually lobster. Service was extremely disorganized. FIVE different people checked on our table while our actual waitress appeared to disappear for over an hour. Eventually everyone received food except one person. We learned his meal had apparently been delivered to a table seated after us. After approximately an hour without food, something was finally brought to him--but it STILL WASN'T HIS ORDER. He was apparently given the other table's meal instead. By then everyone else had eaten, and his food ended up being taken to go. When our waitress was asked about his missing meal, she simply said it would be out in a minute and was very nonchalant. That attitude continued throughout dinner. When asked why online menu pricing differed from the restaurant, she casually said the online information was outdated and being updated. At another point, water was spilled at our table without even an "excuse me." When someone in our party clearly had questions about the bill, she repeatedly walked by without addressing him. She was eventually given the card for payment and never returned. After approximately 15 minutes, he had to go to the front and pay with someone else. We also watched similar problems happen around us. A nearby table sat unattended for approximately 45 minutes before a waiter apologized and admitted he hadn't told anyone they were there. After finally ordering drinks, one woman received something different because an employee had apparently decided to make her a different drink instead. Another waitress later apologized and offered to make what she'd actually ordered. We saw other customers waiting without food, drinks, or attention, and some eventually left. We could also hear confusion between staff and the kitchen about which orders should or shouldn't be prepared. Porterhouse Grill isn't inexpensive, and the price tag should fit the delivery. This wasn't one isolated mistake. It was repeated unavailable items, long waits, incorrect orders, absent and dismissive service, visible disorganization, and problems affecting multiple tables throughout the evening. The appetizers were fine. Unfortunately, almost everything that followed was not.

Carrabba's Never Misses!…read more I honestly can't express enough how much we enjoy our meals at Carrabba's! Whether we're here on a Wednesday for Pizza & Perno, enjoying the 2 for $45 on the weekend, or coming in for our monthly wine tasting, Carrabba's continues to deliver every single time. What I appreciate most is the consistency. The food is always delicious, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the bartenders know how to make a great drink! It's refreshing to find a restaurant where you can return again and again and know you're going to have a good experience. I wish I could say the same about more restaurants in Athens, but Carrabba's has definitely earned its place on our regular rotation. Keep doing what you're doing! You have two very loyal customers who will happily keep coming back.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in, and the place was noticeably clean and well-kept. There were plenty of TVs throughout the space, which is a nice touch if you're dining solo or just want something to watch while you eat. I ordered the OMG Burger with straight fries and a Sprite. The burger lived up to its name--absolutely delicious--and the fries were hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. My only minor critique would be the Sprite, which tasted a bit off, possibly due to the drink machine needing some maintenance. Not a dealbreaker by any means, just something worth noting. What really stood out to me was the service. Even though the place wasn't crowded, my server was attentive and quick, and she even made sure I was able to pay for my meal when it arrived so I could head out as soon as I was done. That level of thoughtfulness really goes a long way. NOTE TO SELF: DO NOT PICK FLYING BISCUIT! They do NOT have gluten free anything. Last visit, 9…read moremonths ago, I chose to eat gluten. I do that sometimes when I just can't decide but I pay for it for about a week. I don't try to do that anymore. lol I did notice many similarities so the sweet gluten must be what is good there. I consider all that processed sugar and the gluten filled garbage GMO flours to be horrible for our bodies. That happens as you learn how these foods actually affect your body and DIS-EASE! Now, I am weeding out the restaurants I will no longer eat at. If you don't care about the wellbeing of your customer's health, then you only care about $$$! I will no longer be eating at establishments that don't use quality ingredients and will focus more on Mom & Pop Locally owned places that do! These businesses need to do better so we aren't constantly sick and medicated beings! They have brainwashed us to eating garbage that other countries do not allow! The ONLY positive thing I can say is the hostess was on point! She was constantly working, bouncing around, handling things, completely pleasant with a smile on her face. She is the reason for 2* and not 1. She was the only 1! I'm only giving a description of her so she is recognized because I do not know her name. Cute dark skinned woman with her hair pulled back with a head band/wrap. She deserves a raise and employee of the month! Everyone else seemed pissy or too concerned with whatever gossip they had to chat about. Waitress literally said, "They just consider it gluten friendly by taking the bread off". Not even grits or potatoes are listed as "GF". Manager came out to explain why grits weren't GF. Idk why they try to appear "healthy". They offer alternatives to pork, but that's about it. Manager said the grits company doesn't claim to be GF so therefore they don't. Well, if the company isn't claiming it, they are most likely using the cheapest of the cheap GMO'd corn! Obviously, just my opinion, but I'm so tired of these restaurants charging so much for garbage food. Waitress is extremely pleasant! lol That is sarcasm for anyone not tracking. Brought the hubs unsweet tea when he ordered sweet! Lol Asked if we were ready to order 3x in less than 5 min while our heads were still down staring at the menus. Then, when we were ready, she was taking money for a guy at the bar, serving another table a beverage, and serving another table their food, while 3 other employees stood around a cleaning station chatting. An elderly gentleman and his caregiver came in but the hostess was outside for some reason. He sat himself at a dirty table. They ignored him until he started waving his arm at staff. I saw the interaction prior. 1 employee saw what he had done and told the others but they ignored the dirty table and the people until he got agitated. Then, they moved him to the table behind him, that they did clean while he was sitting there waiting to be acknowledged. We needed a quick bite in between Dr appts. I wish we had driven a bit further rather than coming here. I'm not hopeful for the cheese grits with turkey bacon I selected because nothing else was appealing and wouldn't destroy my stomach. Guess I'll deal with inflammation today from the gmo corn. The hubs got an egg and cheese biscuit. She didn't ask him how he wanted his eggs cooked or what kind of cheese. It's a mystery what he will get lol. Yes! I am writing this while sitting here! lol It's been 10+ minutes since the old man moved tables and the table he sat at is STILL dirty with dishes. Waitress just came to inform us, after waiting 20 minutes already, that they put pork bacon in my grits so it's going to be a few more minutes. I'm confused??? Why is my husband's food not being brought out? That means his is sitting back there waiting on my GRITS! Come on! 5 more minutes and the results???? Absolutely the most disgusting thing I've ever seen brought out. Check out the picture! lol what on earth is that even? Tasted like generic cheese soup dumped on top of a tiny bowl of semi good grits with half a slice of bacon cut up in it. They called that "Loaded" grits. Lol It was disgusting and those grits are NOT creamy or dreamy! They are so cheap they don't even get the GF tag. lol The hubs biscuit was horribly dry, so little egg you couldn't see it, and the "moon dusted" potatoes tasted like yesterday's home fries, with no dusting or even salt. Quite literally the worst food and service I have seen in a long time! Watched 2 servers NOT sit a family with a girl on crutches, waiting for the hostess to finish dealing with a to-go order. It was like no one helps anyone in there and the customer is last on the priority list!
