I haven't come to this Mellow in ages because I was trying to avoid an ex who used to work here, but I figured now that he's gone I'd give it a shot. Needless to say, I probably shouldn't have. Funnily enough, we were greeted at our table by a server who my brother and I had a bad experience with two years back (God knows why I still remember him) so that was rather amusing. We opted to get the large specialty "Veg Out," and as neither of us like mushrooms I asked if we could sub it out for jalapeños. Our server says the kitchen can in fact do that, at which point he jots down the order and heads out. Imagine our surprise, then, to find on our bill that subbing out mushrooms for jalapeños was $3. It really doesn't get more predatory than that, folks. By no means does $3 break the bank, but it does leave a bad taste in your mouth about Mellow's business practices. Regarding the server himself, he was a bit of a klutz. Somehow he managed to spill not one, but TWO drinks on the booth and floor during the hour we were there. Luckily neither were at our table, but as a customer it is a tad disconcerting to not know whether you'll be the next victim or not. 3 stars for the quality of the pizza (good as always) and the vibes, which are immaculate. -2 for the service and predatory upcharges. read more

Well, insanely busy the food was still great as always. Service was reasonable given the chaos. Environment was great and beer cold.

I have visited this place twice (now) - Sept and Oct 2024. The experience was exactly the same. That atmosphere is great. The servers are attentive and caring. The food is great. The kitchen and serving time is horrible and horrendous. Having been a server in the past, I can attest that this is not the servers fault. Anyway, I enjoy going to different MM's - they always have an atmosphere catering to where they are located; making each one a unique experience. If you go to this location, just allow 30-45 minutes to be served your order. I will say that with the first visit, the server never brought out one food order. Manager never came to apologize. Never offered to "comp" that one meal. read more

Our friend recommended this restaurant for dinner. The following is a summary of my thoughts: Pros: - I thought it was cool that the waitresses wore clothing that looked more comfy and casual (t-shirts and jeans/shorts) than the normal restaurant uniform - Paper straws - Art for sale on the walls made for nice and colorful decorations - Pizza sauce was good, although it tasted similar to that of the Freschetta frozen pizza Cons: - Very loud - I could barely hear the people sitting within a foot of me - My sangria was more on the bitter side than sweet - The pizza: It wasn't cut all the way through! We struggled for 2mins trying to cut one slice out of the pizza. We asked a passing waitress if she could take the pizza back to be better cut, and she told us to ask the waitress assigned to our table. Generally speaking I did like the pepperoni pizza, but I am not a fan of Parmesan. Maybe I was absentminded when reading the menu, but I wasn't aware the pizza came with Parmesan cheese sprinkled all over the crust, which is my favorite part. The taste reminded me of Cheez-Its and it's a big turn off! A restaurant whose specialty is pizza should try a little harder to distinguish itself from the competition. Terrible service. Terrible hostess. No manager on 3/9/24. We had 3 groups totaling 24 people and none of our 3 tables every cleared the waitlist after 3 hours. No one cleaning tables. I agree with a lot of other reviewers that the food is delicious, but the service is TERRIBLE. Like the servers frequently get orders wrong, forget to give silverware or napkins, don't clear empty dishes, etc. I think in the many times I've been, service has been smooth and uneventful ONE time. It's a really bad track record. The worst is when they're not just absent minded, but actively rude and snappy. Like they're irritated they have to bring food out between talking to their friends, and customers are interrupting their day. Like I've seriously seen them just let food sit in the counter while they chat. So obviously I still go there because the pizzas are yummy (mighty meaty and holy Shitake are my favorites). Ordered through door dash, got wings and a small kosmic pizza. The wings were small and hard. What meat there was (which was little) was hard. The pizza was also sad. At least two pieces were nothing but sauce splattered on them. No toppings. No cheese, just cold sauce. Wow eating here is almost always insufferable. The food is good but the service is TERRIBLE. 30 minutes before I even got a food order in. Over an HOUR before I could finally eat. If you go here, be ready for a commitment. Getting a beer and a small cheese pizza could easily be a 2 hour excursion. Went for lunch on a Sunday. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. 10/10. We got the great white with chicken, wonderfully made with very fresh ingredients 10/10. Greek salad - very fresh and very good. 10/10. Pretzel bites, they were interesting. More like dough bites to us but they were very good nonetheless. 10/10. I also tried the peach tea mocktail which I wasn't expecting to be hand shaken from the bar! Very good!! I got it with sweet tea. Very refreshing. 10/10. Overall - great place! Must go! read more

This was a restaurant that we just stumbled on and it was meant to be. On our first night in Athens, we didn't know where we wanted to eat, but something drew us to this pizza joint? And our waitress, Emma was outstanding. She made our trip so much better. Wrote down a bunch of cool places to check out while in town. To top off our amazing waitress, was the ambiance and food. There was a DJ playing music and trivia. Kind of fun to listen to the questions. On the walls are these HUGE TV screens playing sports and other shows. We were thoroughly entertained. Now to the food. Ordered a salad to share and a pizza. All so good. Had a beer because why not? I'm a new fan to Mellow Mushroom. Next time I'm in Georgia going to make sure to hit is up. read more

We were visiting Athens for the day; visiting at UGA; and were looking for a bite to eat. Our first choice was pretty busy for Sunday brunch so we opted for the MM. We were promptly seated and greeted by our waitress. After a few moments, she came back with our drinks. We then placed our order. And thanks to Yelp, we also got a free order of Pretzel Bites. This is where things started to go downhill. It took a real long time to get our order. We noticed some others around us getting their food but ours was not to be seen. After a 40 minutes, our pretzel bites came out. We were hungry and quickly devoured those. Another 20 minutes and then one of our items; a breakfast pizza; was delivered. Nearly 10 more minutes for a pepperoni pizza. Other than being told that it will take more time, we didn't get much else in the way of an explanation. So obviously we were disappointed in the service in this chain restaurant. We've been to other locations in other states and always had better service. At least the food was good. read more

We decided to get take out here since they were one of the only pizza places open with wings. We got a large pepperoni pizza and I added half banana peppers but it's not worth it for $3 extra.
