Some important details. The food is really great, and if you're coming for the food, I highly recommend this place. The service, however, isn't great. It seems like a lot of college students working their first service jobs, so they're inexperienced and pretty disorganized. They were also out of so many drinks. Every time we ordered a drink, our waiter would come back and tell us they were out of it. The restaurant is also very loud. Everything echoes off the walls, and we were practically yelling across the table just to understand each other. Overall, if you want good food, definitely try it out! But considering the service, drink availability, and noise level, there's definitely room for improvement. read more

I had never heard of Emmy's until we stumbled upon it on and I am glad we did. Apparently, Emmy's is a chain, but a good chain serving mainly Detroit style pizza in a more fru-fru environment. We started off with the garlic cheese sticks which were perfect and came with a marinara that had a little kick. We then ordered a Meatsiah, which is not your standard meat lovers pizza. These are premium ingredients. Thick cut bacon, those little fancy pepperonis, sausage ( i am sure it's fancy too) and shaved sirloin steak. This pizza was delicious. We had a really disappointing experience here and won't be returning. My husband ordered a burger without a bun and made a few simple modifications (no cheese, add bacon and onions). It came out fine, so he ordered a second one--only to have the manager come over after the order was placed to say they were "too busy" to accommodate those same modifications again. Apparently the server "shouldn't have allowed it." That's not just inconsistent, it's poor communication and puts the customer (and server) in an awkward spot for no reason. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich that was honestly one of the driest things I've ever tried to eat. I could barely get through two bites. The fries that came with it left me with pretty bad indigestion later, which is unusual for me. Our daughters ordered pizza, which was fine--but it arrived about 30 minutes after our food, so we weren't even eating together as a family. We also ordered a bottle of prosecco that was barely chilled. We had to ask for an ice bucket just to make it drinkable. The good: The angel pizza was truly angelic. It looked like the photo online and tasted better than I predicted. I would definitely order that again. Another huge hit was the shaved brussel sprout salad. If you don't like brussel sprouts, you might change your mind after eating this. The combination of brussel sprouts with the cherries, blue cheese and miso dressing was the perfect combination I would never think to curate. The waffle fries were seasoned and good. The bad: The price is a little much. $18 for a salad without the protein is steep in my opinion. I paid $8 extra for grilled chicken that looked good but was dry, flavorless, and inedible. Delicious Chicago style pizza. Maybe the best gluten free crust I've ever had. We got a pineapple jalapeño pizza with vegan cheese and the chili pineapple sauce, and it was legitimately spicy and delicious. I don't know how Detroit pizza got on my radar, but now that's it's here, it's here to stay. We stopped at Emmy Squared on our way out of town, based on a recommendation from our hotel concierge, and I am so glad we did. The restaurant was busy due to a large team in the front room, but that didn't put a dent in our service. Our son ordered wings, which he absolutely loved, and we split a pizza and the brussels sprouts salad. The salad was shaved brussels sprouts, house-pickled red onions, crunchy cashews, tangy blue cheese, and sweet dried cherries, married with a vibrant miso dressing. It was heavenly and there was not a bit left. We also just had a simple cheese pizza: the crust was crispy and light, the sauce flavorful and the cheese delicious. An easy five stars. Emmy Squared Pizza serves what is probably the best pizza to be had in Athens. It's really good. We started with the shaved Brussel Sprout salad. It's generously portioned, and it's more than enough for two. Pizza wise, we got the "Meatsiah" consisting of "signature cheese blend, crispy Ezzo pepperoni, house-made Italian sausage, thick-cut Nuke's bacon, [and] tender shaved ribeye." It was amazingly good and some of the best pizza I've had anywhere. I washed mine down with a Creature Comforts Tropicalia as one does. It's a stylish upscale place. Service was terrible. Came to eat here for lunch with no crowd or wait and was sat immediately. Waitress was nice but quiet. Just straight to the point questions. My mother ordered a mimosa at the beginning of our service and did not receive it until 15 mins later and it seemed forgotten. We had view of the bartender and he's wasn't busy. Ordered our food and all of them came out at different times, my dad's food never came out. We had to ask her to check on it after she said "how is everything tasting" as she didn't even notice we didn't have an entire pizza. She came back and said the ticket was as missing...how was it missing if it was with all of our other food that came out? She said it would take 10 mins and we were already done eating at that point and brought the check. They didn't even consider removing it off of our bill and was charged in full for it. She didn't give a formal sincere apology just quickly took the check back. I just honestly don't recommend. Do better read more

Wow! The best Gluten Free Pizza I have ever had! Ordered the Hawaii Special and loved it. The crust is like Pizza Hits deep dish but way better. The 6 piece size was not finished by anyone as each slice is quite filling. The largest cheese sticks I have ever seen and the family loved them. The shredded Brussels salad was excellent but a little heavy on the dressing for my liking. Lastly, the brownie dessert was gobbled up quickly by the teens. Definitely recommend for the pizza. This is honestly the best meal I've had in Athens. To start, the ambiance is so nice and this place has such a homey feel. The shareable Caesar salad was to die for and was one of the best Caesars I've had. The pizza, though. Just WOW! Today we ate at Emmy Squared in Athens. We ate outside and it was fairly busy but not overwhelmingly so. It was a pleasant day to be outside and was crazy noisy inside. The service is slow. We had to go find our waitress to order and then again to pay which was a bit frustrating. The food came out reasonably fast. The garliccheese bread was good but a bit oily. The Detroit style pizza was very tasty. Wonderful crisp crust and generous toppings. We did not try the burgers but they looked really good and people seemed to be enjoying them. read more

My 3rd time here and somehow each time it gets better than before. I came in on a gameday and I was not expecting it to be so busy. I thought this place was a hidden gem lol. Upon coming in the inside wait was 1 hour/ 1 hour 30 minutes. Adelade, the host was amazing. She offered outside, togo, then the bar for faster seating. We opted for the bar and she made sure we were able to grab the next available seat. At the bar we had Najja and Kahri, who served us! Kahri helped us decide on what entree as we kept going between 2 pizzas. Najia was constantly refilling my water as I was dehydrated from the game. Never once did she complete and was attentive. While having to bartend. Even though they were busy the staff was amazing. Really attentive and helpful. I'll definitely be back for another visit. If you plan to go during a busy time such as a game-day they do take reservations. It would allow you to have your preferred seating.
