This was my first time at Blue Sky. It's honestly a nice little hidden gem of a bar in Athens. It's a little hard to find, as it's upstairs, but worth the visit. They have a pretty famous drink called the Blueberry Buck, which I had, and it was pretty tasty! I came here with a bunch of friends, and we all had a really great time. The bartenders were all really nice too, and one of them even talked to me and my buddies about some of the more popular whiskies. He even let us taste some of them too, free of charge! When you need a drink but want to avoid the undergrads, Blue Sky is the place. The outdoor patio is great and they were playing awesome music. My one complaint is that the upcharge for a can of Tritonia is pretty steep. read more

Blue Sky is a truly great bar, and it might even be the best one in all of downtown Athens depending upon what you're looking for. One thing to know up front is it's easy to overlook because it's upstairs. There is an entryway and then a fairly steep staircase. Think of this as a self-executing sobriety check point. I joke, I kid, sort of. In any event, the aforementioned staircase takes you to the bar, and it's easy to walk right past it. Me and a friend who lives in town who knows the place did that a couple of times. It's a classy, roomy bar with plenty of room at the bar along with various tables. There is also an outside patio area that is pleasant when the weather is pleasant. My friend and I stoped in a number of times for night caps. It's predominantly a bar for grown ups despite it being across the street from the UGA campus, but one evening late there were quite a few UGA kids in the bar. I think it was a Friday or a Saturday night, so there's that. The bar stocks a very impressive selection of all varieties of whisky. I'm a bourbon guy, and there were lots of very good and sometimes hard to find bottles to choose from. I didn't see any true unicorn bottles though. We had the same bartender every night we went on three nights for nightcaps, and he was great. He was on the ball, friendly, and fun to chat with. The prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality of the hooch we enjoyed. I don't see how anyone could be disappointed by this downtown Athens standout. I think this is the one of the classiest bars in the Classic City. The Blueberry Buck ($7) was delicious. It's a little expensive for Athens, but they use nicer alcohol and the cocktails are more specialty, so the higher prices are justified. The music is low, so you can hear each other. They have a cute outside area. The bathrooms had soap and paper towels so yay for Blue Sky! Nice bartenders. We'll be back. read more

Best bar in Athens during COVID. Their rooftop area is super cute & big enough for groups. Employees are required to wear masks but customers are not. Their inside seating is open. This is a nicer bar so drinks are in glasses instead of plastic cups and $7 rather than $2-3. This also means that underclassmen usually don't go which is great :) Blueberry Buck is one of my favorites!! Their Mexican Mule was very good too. read more

Honestly one of the best bars in Athens. Clean, CHILL, no obnoxious 18 year olds with fakes, just good people and good cheap drinks! The bartender Alex is amazing, kind, helpful, remembers your name if you're a regular, and gives great recommendations. They have outdoor seating too! They also have every beer you could imagine. Great place to come if you're looking to chill, have a beer, and get away from the crazy that is the rest of downtown Athens. read more

It's beautiful inside - but a hard place to enter if you have already been drinking a lot in town as there are quite a few stairs. My friends and I entered at the end of our pub crawl and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There were plenty of drinks to choose from to satisfy all 8 of us - shots, beers, cider, etc. We were seated at a table across from the bar and had to go to the bar to get our drinks - only drawback - but being the end of the night, I didn't care as much. Getting a water back was a bit more challenging. I had to ask 3 times to get an ice water (I like to hydrate while I drink). Our shots were not an issue, nor were our beers. The bartender was helpful and not super speedy, but not slow. I'd definitely return on my next trip to Athens. read more

Favorite bar in Athens. Blue Sky is a cozy nook tucked above Walkers that is equally suited to a night with friends or a romantic date. The bartenders really know what they're doing--drinks are strong and well-made. The beer list is several pages long. Blue Sky also doesn't serve underage kids. Came for a bourbon w partner before dinner. There is a bartender planted behind the bar-- she ain't movin'! We sat at a booth and only the second one occupied in entire bar. No eye contact, no visit to table= no service!!! Hey, I'll bite. Mike goes to bar n gets two bourbons n returns. No napkin, no coaster, no stir. No service. We discovered Blue Sky thanks to a department happy hour back in April and have been hooked ever since. It's tucked away back behind/above Walker's Pub and is a new incarnation of an old joint as we understand it. Nothing is on tap; it's all in bottles, but wow what a selection! The outdoor patio is awesome for just hanging and I think my favorite part might be that you can order tapas from Speakeasy and have them delivered right to your table. read more

As far as athens bars go this place is O.K. Great wooden bar that over looks both north campus and an alley. It is out of the way even in its central location and has a good bordering on great bottled beer list. The pices are competative but not on the low end for what they have to offer. The best part of this bar might be the outdorr patio that connects to walkers. Gives you some fresh air in a decent little place. read more

Blue Sky has one of the best selections of bottled beer in Athens and has good ambiance. It's a bit pricy, but in my mind you're paying to keep the younger college crowd away. Quality of service, both in attention and knowledge, is variable depending on who is working. read more

This was my favorite Athens bar. It was discovered basically by accident after going out of the back door from Walker's. The bartenders are pretty nice and seem knowledgeable and have good recommendations. The atmosphere is much more relaxed and less busy than other bars. Great place and great service. read more
