I decided to get the redneck deluxe hamburger with tots. My wife got the roasted chicken wings with the white bbq sauce. Our food arrived quickly. My burger was perfectly cooked and had a nice chargrilled flavor. I also enjoyed the tots. My wife got nine wings and thought they were ok. Had kind of a sweet rub on them that she didn't like. I've always loved Locos and their food. Unfortunately, today's experience was less than anticipated. First we were placed under a fan that made it so cold that we both wore our coats. When we asked if it could be turned off, the waitress said she's ask but never responded any more. It was a cool windy day, so the fan was unnecessary. We waited a long time, over 25 minutes, for our food. Its wasn't busy there either. My food was cold by the time it came. Just sad , it's usually a great place to eat. read more

Now I know why they don't have 4* or higher. I'm being nice by giving 3. Is it normal to give 1/3 of the bowl of spinach artichoke dip? It's a tiny bowl already and they give a ton of chips. I got it as my "meal" because I wasn't very hungry but this wasn't an appetizer you would want to share with others because it was so little. Hubby's fries were cold. Very cold! Waitress hardly even visited us to check in and when she finally did we were pretty much done but insisted on new fries, which didn't get eaten. They had an incredible waitstaff!!! I was with a group and they made sure that everyone had everything they needed. But I was disappointed in my french dip sandwich. It is one of my favs but while the bread was really tasty...the main attraction...the BEEF was very very sad. It was way over cooked and extremely dry. Some parts were very chewy. It was like it had been sitting around for awhile. Such a same because the au jus was good...not salty like some I have had but it could not bring the beef back to life. The service is terrible so we stopped coming and tonight we tried take out just to see if it was gonna be any better since they seemed to always blame the kitchen backup on to go orders when we would have to wait for a table in a 20% full restaurant or why our food took over an hour to come out. Come to find out the to go area is also just as screwed up. Ordered and it said 20 minutes. Waited 25 to give them a little grace period. I had dinner at Loco's with two friends right before the Thanksgiving holidays and it was fine. Really nothing stood out one way or another. I feel that we more or less got what we paid for and I'm OK with that. My favorite part was probably the $3 22oz Yuengling special. The food and service were decent but nothing special. I would not have eaten at Locos Grill & Pub due to their Yelp reviews. This is the type of place where I need and depend on Yelp to save me. It looks great from the street, and in fact the patio is comfortable and functional, and it looks like so many corporate run Mexican chains that you feel instantly comfortable with where you are and what you will receive in the way of food, but it does not live up to the street appeal. It looks clean from the outside but astute Yelpers point out that it has a sketch record with the Health Department. They have numerous repeat health violations, which is something that the corporate run Mexican chains never have. For the most part, big corporate run restaurants look clean because they are clean, and they know what they are doing. So, why did we eat here? We were meeting a couple from Athens, a blind date if you will, and they picked the restaurant. In full disclosure this is only the second restaurant where I have eaten sense March of last year, 2020 year of Foodie hell! The couple both has the French Dip, I had the steak tacos, and Jeff had the ill advised fish tacos. The couple did not complain about their French Dip, but our tacos were dry, poorly executed awfulness. The tortilla was cold and tasted like it was just pulled from a refrigerator, and the meats, the fish and the steak, were dried out like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for days. So my taco was four elements; a cold tortilla pulled from a fridge and never seeing a plancha, steak that had set out until it was so hard and dry it was a danger to cracking your teeth, pre-shredded yellow cheese, and the pico that came with the chips, and it was just bloody awful. I think Jeff's taco only had 3 elements, and those of you who know my husband know if he paid for it he will eat it. He only ate a couple bites. I am sure if we had not been on a date, he would have sent it back and just at the chips and salsa. It was that bad. So, Locos Grill & Pub looks like a big, clean, corporate run Mexican chain restaurant where you expect corporate cleanliness and a level of expected corporate Executive Chef designed food, but that is not what you get. You get amateurishly designed and ill executed food that you do not expect in a building with a sketchy relationship with the Health Department. read more

Again, here in my hometown Locos failed to give not myself this time but my family great service. We went to Locos Grill & Pub, Athens on Timothy Rd. As we ate our food I found a roach in my food! Yes, a ROACH! This was only the beginning of a big problem. As we asked for the manager because we didn't feel comfortable paying for the food, he cane out so we can speak to him. We told him that we didn't feel comfortable paying for the food due to a ROACH being in the food. He said he I'm sorry but our restaurant is clean and this is no way this can happen. He said that bugs flies into the food all the time. There were no bugs flying. I found this in my pico after the scooping into it the 2nd time. He even insinuated that we could've put it in the food. Saying, "People do this" like we were trying to get out of paying for a meal. Of course we are mad at this point. Ryan (the manager) then said well I do 50% off on the whole ticket. You look at this and tell me would you pay 50%. So after we told him that we wouldn't eat his roach infested food due to the one time the restaurant made a mistake we wanted them to right it. We've came here before and wanted to comeback and expressed that to him. He was upset about the "roach infested food" comment and then threatened to call the POLICE on us. Not trying to make it a race thing but threatening to call the police on 3 black people is almost a threat to me. Especially when this isn't life threatening or a situation to call the cops. Again this is the America we live in. The manager wanted to call the police on 3 paying customers for the restarunt failure to accommodate us for their uncleanliness. Let me put this in perspective for you. Police called on 3 black people for a roach being in their food and not wanting to pay. How is that right? So we would've got embarrassed in public by having the police called for something the restaurant did, oh okay. I have to say this but it's such a privilege to just always say, "we are going to call the police when you know you'll get justice." People of color don't always know that they'll get justice if they call the cops but this is America in 2021. Maybe I should just stay home but they'll be giving them the power. Just know Fully Loaded Pizza Co. and Locos won't ever get my business and I hope they never get yours. Please share, you might help someone else from visiting this horrible establishment! P.S. you can see on the health score the got flagged for not having cleaned/sanitized surfaces so you tell me who wrong. Restaurants know when the health inspector is coming so this complete BS! read more
