During Covid, I brought my vehicle in for an oil change. My car has keyless entry and whoever left my car in the parking lot had the keyless entry too close to the car, and when I went to pick it up after hours, someone had rummage through my glove compartment and pulled out the glove compartment completely. Fitzway said they would fix it with no charge. When they supposedly fixed it, they did not replace the broken hydraulic arm that opens and closes the glove compartment. They left it with one arm, which worked for a while. They never told me to come back when the part came in for the arm. They just said they fixed it. Now my glove compartment is sitting on my car floor. This is how I found out that they never replaced the hydraulic arm. read more

The guy gives an over hyped estimate about changing all motor mounts 3 years ago where the cost to fix was more than the cost of the car . The issued was with the squeaking sound from belt tensioner a belt tensioner which has replaced myself . These wonderful folks updated my carfax records stating that they fixed all the motor /transmission mounts where none of this was done !!! The estimate to change the transmission fluid was ridiculous I wonder whether they use unicorn blood in lieu of atf which might explain the wonderful estimate read more

I came in on a weekday and was warmly greeted by Chuck. I needed to get a MD state car inspection and was happy they were able to help without an appointment. Chuck took my car back to be worked on right away and offered me coffee, hot chocolate and water. The restroom was clean and the couch is pretty comfy. Chuck very pleasant, welcoming, kind and kept me updated. My car was completed in about an hour and the price was less then what I thought it was going to be. These guys are great. I was in a pinch, needing my title and registration for MD fast, and I only had a few days to do it. These guys got me a state inspection late notice and worked with my schedule to do it. When it didn't pass, they saved my hundreds of $ by welding rather than making me get a brand new exhaust. I went to start my car the other day and nothing. Fitzway Car Clinic was a few miles from my house and decided to have them look at it. Emily at the front desk was great, SHe called when the tow truck dropped off my truck and told me they would call me the next day with a quote. I wasnt able to go to the clinic and did everything over the phone. I was very happy that they said it was a very small part that needed to be fixed. The ONLY reason I'm giving this place a 2-star rating is because of the great customer service. Other than that, this place is awful and will nitpick every detail of your car just to upsell you. I went in to get my car inspected and after the "very thorough" check, it failed. Horribly. They told me I needed $2200 worth of repairs and maintenance before getting a passing grade. A week later I went to Frederick Subaru to get the same service and they said my repairs would come out to $1000, including the inspection charge. Still not an ideal price, but way better than having to pay over $1200 more. Needless to say, I should have read the reviews before trusting this place with my car. Do NOT go here. read more

I had a 10+ great relationship with Danny, and used to recommend this place (back when it was Danny's Car Clinic, even when it was Danny's FitzWay), but I've had a very expensive repair done at the new place and it doesn't last. I would have to very strongly disagree with these Yelp reviews. Do yourself a favor and check the "not recommended" tab, that's where all the good reviews are stuffed away. I've had many fabulous experiences with this shop. I've brought two of my vehicles to Danny's. One was a simple MSI so that was pretty simple. The second vehicle was a Jeep Wrangler. On our own, we installed a 3.5" lift kit, bigger tired and other aftermarket pieces. We asked them to do a simple once over, to ensure we did it right and wouldn't die when starting the Jeep. Dropping it off was super easy, they even offered us a ride. We had to bring our old wheels back in to have the tire pressure sensors removed and installed in the new tires and they even drove the old tires back to us! They went out of their way to make sure we were happy. I even got a follow up text a few days later to see how the services went. Prices were very fair as well. They've got a lifetime customer with me. read more

A few years back when this place was located on Buckeystown Pike (around the corner from current location), my Nephew took his car here to be fixed so it would pass Maryland inspection. When he got it back, it was worse than when he dropped it off! There were mud streaks on the side and the tail light was busted which made us think they had taken the car for a joy ride. We spoke to a dopey guy named Mark who said he didn't have a clue about what we were talking about (as his hands were shaking and his eyes darted back and forth). We reported this place to the Better Business Bureau but never heard anything back. Go to the Honda dealership down the road for inspection. Called into the shop for information about getting my car Maryland Inspected. The woman on the phone (Victoria, I believe was her name) was very organized and friendly...even willing to fit me in last minute! They even offered transportation while they were inspecting my car! Upon arrival, we noticed that the environment was clean and organized and to top it off we were offered beverages while we waited. Upon completion, Danny came out to explain what needed to be done and was eager to provide his suggestions (which in the long run saved me money and time). read more

I just moved to Frederick from Germantown, so it was time to find another mechanic to work on my Ford Excursion Diesel. Great customer service, and honest information on my trucks repairs. I already replaced my batteries (yes my Excursion has 2 batteries), alternator, and still had starting problems. I turned my truck in on Monday morning, and got it back quickly with the starter replaced. I was given a few options for the repair helping me with my budget. I was kept up to date on the repair through text messages (I love this feature), and my truck was done as promised on time, even with the snow storm. The office staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, after getting a free soda, they lent me a snow brush to clean off my truck. The repairs & parts are reasonable, and their waiting room is clean, and comfortable. They just make you feel like you are their only customer/family. After just dealing with a service issue at Criswell Chevy Jeep/Ram service center in Gaithersburg, this was a joy! read more

Chuck at the front desk was nice but other than that I had to wait over four hours for my TMPS to be changed. They had to go pick up the part which was only four blocks away. Somehow took them two hours. Then I was told it wouldn't take more than an hour to change it. Ended up taking two hours and I was charged for those two hours of labor. Also, people who came in before me ended up leaving before me. Was told they were busy but don't know how that relates to me waiting longer unless they felt like they could charge me more for labor. Update! Was told I need to come back the next day so they could get the correct one. Also, the next day my car mysteriously had a flat tire!!!!!!! So now I'm getting that fixed as well. read more

Was in town for training with work and had major issues with my Jeep. The shop was not only very friendly and helpful, but also very willing to work with my limited budget. Within hours of dropping my Jeep off they had emailed me with a full diagnostic, which included pictures and even a call from the mechanic with specific concerns and questions regarding the Jeep. Together we developed a plan of action that was within my budget and addressed all the issues; and within a couple days the repairs were done. Very satisfied with the service I received and will most definitely return if future issues arise. read more

Ripped me off with a Maryland state inspection three years ago. Something like a $1500 bill for a car in great condition that had just recently (one month earlier) passed a NYS inspection. I took my car here a long time ago when it was just "Danny's". I was very satisfied with their service. I just called for an appointment and I was on hold for almost 10 minutes. Their hold music is a recording of an interview as to why people should choose Danny's. I think they should just stick to music. Anyways they had me on hold so long that I had enough time to read all of the yelp reviews and decided to hang up. I guess their business has changed a lot and I don't want to waste my time. Thanks yelpers! BTW I put three stars bc I can't speak to their current service other than being on hold for a rediculously long time, which if you are in the business of making money and you're that busy you should hire a secretary to answer the phone instead of your shop guy because you're losing business by keeping people on hold so long! So back to the stars... Read the great reviews as we're new to the area so thought we'd check it out. What a disappointment. Either they were being dishonest or they don't know what they're talking about. Had an estimate for around $1200 after having them change the oil and give it the once over. That seemed a little excessive so we took it back to Century Auto in Germantown where we've gone for years. The big steering fluid leak was fixed with a simple weld; the battery still had plenty of life; the cabin filter was not in dire need of repair as they said. The total at Century came to $270. Maybe Danny's was better before it got linked with a dealership. Now, it just feels like they're looking to make some $$ off the unsuspecting which is why I've NeVeR got a repair with a dealership. For big repairs, it will be worth the few times a year to take it south or find somewhere else. read more

Was stuck in Frederick due to locked brake caliper. Got a quote from a shop right off the freeway for three times what my local mechanic would have charged, due to our obvious desperation. Next morning I called Danny's to see if I could get a more reasonable quote. The rep told me they would need to look at the car, but that the quote would come in somewhere between my mechanic's and the local shop. Took it in, and was told that the work would cost 50% more than even the ridiculous price the other shop was asking. When I told the employee that the guy on the phone said it would be less, she hemmed and hawed and then said something about how he was pricing a different job -- even though I was very clear about the work that was needed. They figured they had me because I'd spent most of the morning there and they knew I had to be in the Midwest by evening. I asked for my keys and went back to the first shop, which at least was less of a rip-off. I figured out at the shop that it was owned by an auto dealership, which helps explain the high prices. However, they shouldn't have pulled the bait and switch. That was unethical. read more

I can recall my first experience with Danny's car clinic a few years ago, where my wife's Corolla was experiencing extreme steering wheel vibration at high speed. The report was grim. I needed to have two front tie rods replaced. The diagnosis did not make sense to me because I was certain it was a wheel imbalance issue. When Danny's team approached me, I was already in the defensive. I was so used to getting "upsells" from so many other mechanics that I already knew how to say "no". Being an experienced US AirForce jet fighter (F15C/D) mechanic, I'm not fooled easily when it comes to the inner workings of cars, which I've lightly studied. Instead of accepting my initial defensive "no", Danny's team extended an invitation for me to actually see the parts which are about to reach critical failure. Sure enough, after careful inspection of the failing tie-rods, it was clear to me that they were not upselling services, but rather reporting a valid safety concern. At that point, the service was a no-brainer! "Fix it!" I exclaimed. There was absolutely *no way* I would let my wife drive that car to Bethesda with the tie rods almost certain to fail any day. It is because of this single incident that Danny's car clinic has earned my respect, trust and customer loyalty. Since that time, I've taken modified my 2002 Nissan Altima and my wife's 2006 Odyssey (replaced the Corolla) to Danny's to have serviced. It's nice to drive my vehicles out of Danny's lot, knowing that service has been performed correctly, and all valid critical safety concerns have been addressed before departure. After all, safety needs to be in all of our minds. Driving *is* the most dangerous thing that we modern humans do from a day-to-day basis. read more

They are straightforward in addressing the problems, quickly and professionally repair them, and they charge accordingly. Danny's happily fit me in to see my car and then even drove me back to work after I dropped off the car. The gentleman who drove me (Chuck) was a great guy as well! Then, they called me after the diagnosis of what went wrong and helped talk it over with me to decide on what I wanted to do. My entire family has gone to Danny's for years and years. Not only do they have a top-notch front desk staff, (not an easy thing to find these days), but they have both experienced and accommodating tech staff. We have brought multiple cars in with issues ranging from simple oil changes to transmission overhauls and have always been treated fairly and have had exemplary work done. I have had to come back only once because of a defective part that was installed (not their fault) and they were happy to make it right and even included a free loaner. Danny's may not be the least expensive around (although they do offer promotions and coupons), but my family has learned that many times you get what you pay for and we have always left their business feeling as if we were respected as customers and treated fairly in both price and diagnosis. They have not recommended any work be done if it was not necessary. (We have a fair knowledge of car repair issues, and feel comfortable making that statement.) If honesty and integrity are what you are looking for in a car repair shop, this is the place to be. (No...they are not compensating us for this review :)...we really believe in their business ethic. read more

Dropped my car off for an oil change, the mechanics also called and informed me of what services needed to be done to the car in what amount of time and complied the list with a price at which they'd be willing to service car needs for. They also explained the importance of each need. And had great customer service. I recommend oil changes here for sure! read more

Just your run of the mill shady mechanic looking for a fast swindle. I only came here because the dealer referred me under their warranty plan. This is not normally the type of chop shop operation I deal with. Tried to play me by keeping my car all day to run "diagnostic" tests that just kept adding up meanwhile he's telling me he doesn't know the cause of my problem (the same problem that both an insurace adjuster and another repair shop identified within in 3 minutes of looking at my car.) Calls me at the end of the day to tell me that $250 later he still can't figure out what's wrong with my car -- but of course he can keep doing more "tests" but of course it will cost me more. When I tell him I need to come back before closing and pick my car up he tells me my car is in pieces (WTF?? even if I believed that I did not authorize them to start ripping pieces out of the interior of my car!!) oh and by the way I leave at 5 so you'll have to get it tomorrow. When I challenge him on all of this BS he starts to run the whole patronize the woman game, "I understand, this is a stressful situation." Unless you're ok with this type of treatment, there are plenty of reputable mechanics in Frederick. read more

I've been to Danny's several times over the last 2 years for various problems. I have always felt that Danny and his team were thorough and provided answers to all of my questions. At times I had concerns regarding the prices quoted to me and every time Danny gave me thorough explanations and made me feel very comfortable. Several times they have gone out of their way to drop the car off at a location convenient for my wife or I as we share one vehicle. As my visits have increased, I have developed confidence and trust in not only the quality of the work, but the the integrity of the staff. I must also add that Victoria and Chuck are fantastic and always very pleasant to speak with. I would recommend Danny's for all of your vehicle repair/maintenance needs. read more

I have had all of my automotive work done at Danny's car care clinic for about 5 years and cound not be happier. The mechanics are top notch, and always do a great job on my vehicles and stand behind their work. Whether it is scheduled maintenance or an emergency fix, Danny's always makes time for me and gets the work done in a very timely manner. I also use them for installing tires from The Tire Rack. Bottom line is that Danny's care care clinic is the only place that works on my cars and I couldn't be happier. A Quality shop that does quality work. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I've been taking my cars to Danny's Car Clinic on and off for ten years, and so did my dad when he drove. I often look for a cheaper shop, and Danny will admit that he charges a little more, but if you want a great diagnostician, especially after one or two other shops misdiagnose your car's problem, take your car to Danny! Once, My Freestar minivan had a noise when the steering wheel was turned all the way and driving at slow speed. The Ford dealer said it was the steering stops, but the noise continued. Another shop also misdiagnosed the noise and it continued. Danny drove it around his building and immediately told me I needed a new front axel. He replaced it and the noise never came back! Most recently my son's Ford Five Hundred had a check transmission light. The Ford dealer could not figure out the problem. Danny quoted me a very reasonable fee to give the car a complete "physical" since he had never serviced that car. Aftre the physical, he spent half an hour on the phone with me and recommended that I get rid of the car, even though he could have tried to talk me into the $6k in work that it needed. When he does recommend work, he will prioritize what is needed right away, and what can be watched. Danny and his staff are very friendly and professional. It is a small shop, which I prefer over large dealership service garages. Overall, Danny's Car Clinic gets my vote for a very good auto repair shop! read more

We moved here from OR and this place was recommended by a friend here in town. We have taken several of our cars there the service has always been friendly and prompt. Danny has always been willing to work within our budget and the one time we had a problem with one of his repairs the fixed it at no charge to us.
