Sunday night, my car wouldn't start. I had it towed to superior on Sunday night and it was there…read morefor them first thing Monday morning. Superior noted on the invoice that the car was dead on arrival. Said they tested the battery and that they were able to start the vehicle with starting fluid after multiple attempts. Well, to me that means there were something wrong with the car battery. They got the car running and charged me $155. They kept the car all day, over seven hours to do the safety maintenance inspection that I didn't ask for. They didn't ask me either. Two days later, the car would not start again. I called superior to let them know and they said that the battery was OK when it was there. The battery was dead in their own words when they checked it. I don't understand why they didn't replace the battery. I was unable to go to work on my new job on Wednesday, I would think that an auto service center would recognize when a battery needs replaced.. I am homeless and sleeping in my car. I have no money to get it towed. Fortunately, somebody helped me in the Walmart parking lot to get the car running so I can drive it to a Walmart service center. If that kind person did not help me, I would've been stuck there. I would not have been able to go to work. I wouldn't had a place to sleep. Anyway, I think they should've changed the battery on Monday when the car was in their shop. I think they should've recognized that since it was dead on Sunday and Monday and it was a really old battery, they should have replaced it. Since they didn't, it was a big hassle for me not going back to Superior auto service again. It said on the invoice that they recommended that I monitor it. That is ridiculous. I'm supposed to just drive the car around and hope that it starts when I get back in. I would have to have an expense of it being towed. Shouldn't they fix the car so you don't get stranded somewhere ? Walmart charged me $150 for the battery and instillation. Superior charged me $155 and didn't fix the car. They just gave me a list of $2000 worth of stuff that needed to be Repaired.

I want to love Ken's. But my experiences are like dealing with two different companies . On one…read moreday they are beyond excellent and cannot do enough to satisfy the customer. And to boot, they do work that no one else would touch. For me, that included a complete rebuild of my 2006 transmission in 2024 in their shop. Yes it was costly but it was not a remanufactured tranny and extended the life of my car. If the engine goes, I'll likely return for an engine rebuild rather than a remanufactured engine. On another day, some basic work that should be simple and easy they seem capable of completely missing the mark. Couple this with their reliance on Metro Motor.com and their BG maintenance recommendations and you have what feels like a very hard sell to get your money. The BG recommendations are like a laundry list of what you MIGHT do to your auto if you had unlimited funds and just wanted to spend freely. There seems to be no rnyme or reason to the recommendations either in milage or elapased time. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind paying premiusm prices (which Ken's is) for premium work. That's the issue. I feel like it's sometimes worth it and other times not. I've reached the consclusion that they will get my more difficult jobs but routine maintenance will be handled elsewhere. I wonder if over time they have changed ownership or have new sales incentives in place. It's a shame. I really want them to be like The Car Talk guys from Boston and only do what's right.

Let me start with this - About 1 week ago, I left a great review for Pope on dual highway, due to…read morethem supposedly correcting an error that I had with my thermostat and engine overheating, only to find out, that not only did they not solve the issue, they were negligent and also did not tell the truth. I have put about 4K into this Chevy Cruze since November of 2025. In every instance, I spent my money with Pope. They were convenient, and so I though, did a great job. Now, to my recent chain of events - one of the last things I did was to get a new timing belt installment, along with water Pump, which was 950. I had called around, and this was one of the lower estimates, plus they were conveniently right across the street from where I lived. 2-3 weeks later, I start having issues with the Thermostat, and in this case, it was all the way to the "C" side of the thermometer gauge. At one point, the dash gave an error message stating that AC was off, due to car overheating. I thought it odd that it was all the way to the left(C), and not the right(H), which is normally more common if engine is overheating. The next day, I called and spoke with one of the lady's at the front desk, and explained the issue. She said that I could bring it in, and they would look at it, at no charge. I was very pleased with this, and trusted that they would either fix the issue, or tell me what was causing the issue. I made it completely clear that I was in no way blaming them for the current errors. Ok, so when I get my car back, one of the lady's at the front said they would bring my car out shortly, as the mechanic was still looking at it. As the mechanic came in and gave her the key to give back to me, she looked at the mechanic and said "Any leaks found?" the mechanic non verbally concurred that there were none, with a very swift head nod. I thought it was odd that he did that, but nevertheless, brushed it off. The lady at the counter explained that there were air bubbles, and that they "bled" it 3 times. As she stated 'it just needed the belch". Interesting analogy. Fast forward to this past Sunday, I am driving home from running an errand, and I notice the thermometer gauge is moving..First a little to the middle, then back to the left. I kept an eye on it. As I got closer to my residence, I am noticing it is progressively moving to the right, towards the "H" side. Ultimately, again, the "AC OFF DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMP". I am praying I can make it to the house. Before I know it, the thermometer gauge is all the way to the right. Now, a message stating "ENGINE IDLE DUE TO OVRHEATING ENGINE, TURN OFF ENGINE". I can hear the fan very loudly as I get onto my residence street, and I eventually am able to park the vehicle. As I get out of the car, extremely livid, Even when I turned car off and locked door, the fan was STILL loudly going. Next day, I decide I need to get my car to a different mechanic. I chose one that was not too far from pope, and probably a quarter of a mile away. I explain the issues, and drop the car off. I left it over night, as the mechanic called and said there were A LOT of things going on with the car, and they were trying to decipher the codes they were getting. Definitely not what I wanted to hear. Anyway, the next day, the mechanic INSISTED I go in to discuss everything. Turns out, there is NO COOLANT in the reservoir, I have an oil leak, need several hoses replaced, along with new reservoir tank for the coolant, have possible cylinder damage, and a bunch of other things. I told the mechanic about Pope agreeing to look at my vehicle when I had the initial issues arrive after getting the timing belt and water pump, and the mechanic then said that "If they bled the system like they stated, that would have involved checking coolant levels, and also checking for leaks. Leaks? I said "they told me there were NO LEAKS" when they bled it. The mechanic shook his head and stated that they must have not bled it then, as that would be one of the primary things they would check for. I then stated, well "I just got a new timing belt and water pump a few weeks back". The mechanic said "that does not appear to be a new water pump, unless it was already a used one, and they installed it in your vehicle". I was literally so angry that I contemplated going right over to Pope, but luckily, my better judgement kicked in, as I new that I could possible go off the rails at their location, and then cause even more issues, than what I was currently facing. All in all, there was about 6K worth of things that needed fixed. I apparently needed a new cooling system. Now, I am not naïve, as I NOW KNOW that Chevy Cruze's aren't the best when it comes to durability, but I could not understand how I was told there were no coolant leaks (at Pope), that they bled the system(Pope), and that they had installed a new water pump with my timing belt (Pope). I literally have gotten a catalytic converter, timing belt and water pump, Oxygen Sen

Conveniently located, very clean and impressively maintained. I'm an electronics technician by trade and do some minor maintenance and repairs on my own vehicles. I was concern with a clunking that seemed to be coming from the front passenger side when I hit a bump. When I needed other work I'd ask in a "by the way' fashion, if they would also check for the source of that noise. And every time they'd fix something for between $100-$130, but the noise would linger. I know noise problems can be tricky, so I'd give them the benefit of the doubt, thinking they'll get it the next time. Finally, after 3 or 4 years and may $700 or $800 I mentioned to the receptionist that over the years they never fixed my noise problem. She conveyed it to Scott in the back and he when off. Totally offended, like I insulted his integrity. Ok, at this point I'm not sure if they'd been bilking me or maybe it was repetitive misdiagnosis or incompetence, but I knew I needed a new shop. So, I when to Sears Automotive and they found it to be a lower control arm (worn bushing). Fast-forward to my next vehicle, a couple years later, my emergency brake wasn't holding the weight of the vehicle when parked on a hill. I explained the problem to Scott and he told me that was normal. Any automotive technician knows that without the emergency brake engaged the tiny transmission pawl singularly holds a large portion of the weight of the vehicle and if it should give (which it will eventually) you're looking at big bucks in transmission repair, not to mention possibly collision damage. This time I when to Carmax, they fix it, stating it was stuck, due to stubborn rust. $61.00. We'll, that's my experience. Hope you can gleam from it.
