I was hesitant about finding a mechanic who was honest and efficient. Zach's seems to be both. So far so good.

I have been a certified auto mechanic. But there are always things which I choose not to do on my own vehicles. I needed to get a rear main seal done on a Chevy Silverado truck. Additionally it had other gaskets and lines that needed replacement that I had no interest in doing personally. After a deep dive into reviews The only One that showed extreme positive reactions was Zach's. I brought in my old 2003 Element for what I thought was an axle problem. I usually wrench this car myself but I didn't have the tools to replace a bad axle. I also needed rear brakes, and a complete fluid change. I figured since the car was already in the shop and the weather in Frederick was atrocious, why not. They gave me an estimate of close to $1500 dollars (ouch). The value of the car was around $2000 which gave me pause but I thought if this would get me another few years out of the vehicle, it may be worth it. I approve the repairs. A couple of days later they informed me that the break parts I purchased were for the front brakes and not the rear. I purchased the rotors about five years ago when Pep Boys informed me that the vehicle would not pass state inspection. Pep Boys told me that they couldn't use the parts because the rotors were for the rear brakes not the front as they had flagged. This didn't make sense to me because Rock Auto clearly identified them as front brake rotors. Rather than argue, I agreed to let "the Boys" replace the front brakes with their parts. I hung onto the rear brakes figuring I could always use them in the future. When Zach's informed me that they were indeed front rotors, I nixed the brake job and instead ordered new rear brakes and pads online. They also informed me that the smell of axle grease that prompted me to drop it off in the first place was not axle grease but power steering fluid from a leaky hose and pipe. They also noted that the ball joint needed to be replaced. The total damage came to just over $1300 dollars. My only complaints about the service was that they did not do the transmission and differential fluid replacements as I requested (not sure why) and the price. This is a very old vehicle. Bluebook value in optimal condition is about $3000. Repair shops tend to disregard this when recommending repairs. I've had estimates of $5000 dollars from other shops for various services. Technically they're not be gouging customers, but it is a bit irresponsible. Leveling with customers honestly, creates an atmosphere of trust and makes it more likely that they'll return for future services. read more

Replaced both valve cover gaskets and oil gasket (~$800) on a 2004 Acura MDX and 2 yrs. and 3 months (11k miles) later the left bank cover leaked and destroyed the alternator ($1600 to replace both) . Out of Zach's 2yr parts and labor warranty, out of luck. Dynamic Automotive's warranty is 3 year. read more

Then, I called Zach Auto Clinic and told him about my car (2006 Elantra) was having trouble getting through the Maryland Safety Inspection process. I sent him a laundry list of repairs that needed to be done to pass inspection. Sight unseen, he gave me an estimate less than the inspection place. He did the work quickly and on time. I have been wanting to leave a review for this place. Since recently moving to Frederick I finally found a new mechanic. Previous mechanic did some repairs on my 2012 Toyota Camry; however, both my check engine light and traction light came back on. Took it to Zach's and less than an hour they were able to figure it out. The codes had to be reset on my vehicle. They said they wouldn't charge me for it, since the only thing that needed to be done was resetting the codes. Definitely 5 stars mechanics. read more

Zach is the kind of mechanic you spend far too much time looking for and then never have to search for a general mechanic ever again. He and his team do great work, they work quickly, are very flexible and easy to schedule with. He also also gives great advice and helps you take better care of your vehicle between visits, he seems to care about his customers however odd the problem (and one of mine got very odd...). I did have one electrical problem on my Prius he couldn't fix completely without tearing the carpet out and wouldn't let me pay him for the labor beyond that which he was able to resolve despite the work he put into it. What's more, he provided me details I could bring to a Toyota dealership to help them troubleshoot more quickly and hopefully cut down the cost when I take it in. I have no hesitation recommending Zach's service and if I wasn't moving across the country I know I'd be going back to him time-and-time again. My only complaint is that he doesn't charge enough for the level of care he provides. read more

I have to agree the other reviews. I have a Lexus ES300 hybrid which needed new struts and shocks. AAA Autocare was willing to do it for $500 more than Zachs. Yea, nope.. It turns out that AAA did not know that there would be a difference in parts from the regular version and hybrid. It would have not worked ( holes would have been in the incorrect place for attachment) and there is a small premium on the hybrid version. Zacks caught it before they even ordered the parts and then when the dealer sold them higher brand shocks, He made the dealer eat the extra instead of charging me more. Service at its best. Zach took great care of my Ford Raptor. I blew the transmission in it and no dealership could even see me in less than 3 weeks but not only did Zach take care of it in 3 weeks but he worked very hard dealing with my after market warranty company and they were not easy to deal with. Zach kept me updated through the entire process and did a incredible job replacing the transmission. Having a Ford Raptor I would normally only go through a dealership but after Zachs great customer service I will only go to him for all my future repairs. Came in with transmission issues and he checked codes on car right away. When nothing came back after he cleared it and drove it around for a little, he told us that we wouldn't really need any work done on it.
