You could be honest that you're not able to work on a person's vehicle at the agreed time. You should be able to inform that person when they could have an appointment. don't make promises you can't keep as in taking the key to my car, telling me you'll come to my house and pick up my car and perform the work. Then the next day, when said person calls and you say you can't talk to them because you have three people on hold already, but you'll call them back. Call them back. I just called them requesting an appointment for when I could bring my vehicle in. The response was I don't know. I am really sorry about this. I've always been pleased with the work that was performed on my vehicles. I can't believe how I've been treated Reliable customers don't count, just treated like crap. I failed to mention that they never came and picked up my car like they said they would. And yes, I'm surprised too that I have to make a review like this. I LOVE Skip's Auto Repair it's services and integrity. I normally go to Mazda's Service Center and got a lot of reports on my vehicle. I was recommended to get 2nd opinion from Skip's Auto Repair. They give me their reports and it's much less than Mazda's. The worker also explained why this specific part needs to be repaired and what does not need to be repaired. skips auto is extremely unprofessional & disrespectful brought my car in for a new thermostat replacement at 10am they didn't call me back till closing time telling g me they did all but work on the issues long story short my car NOW doesn't go over 30mph and it's shaking really bad I called next business day to ask what he did wrong to my car and Brian started cursing and being rude blaming me for the issue he and his company caused I tried talking to him in a respectful manner but he brian continued to be disrespectful to me the costumer I'm extremely disappointed and now my car has more issues then when I brought it to them i WOULD NOT REACT TO HIM BRIAN IN A NEGATIVE WAY AT ALL BUT WILL SHOW YOU GUYS BETTER THEN I CAN TELL YA. I just had my front brakes replace on my Audi Q7 by Skips. Everything was very cut and dry and Brian was very upfront about pricing prior to me bringing in the vehicle and him ordering the parts. The parts arrived in less than 24 hours and the brake job was completed very quickly. I dropped off the car a little after 9 AM and the car was ready to go a little before 3 PM. I also asked them to check a tire for a leak come to find out. I had a nail in my tire, and this was fixed also. I really appreciate a mechanic that knows what they're doing and that does not try to break the bank. I feel my car drives well and the brakes sound and feel amazing. I will be returning as having a foreign car makes it difficult to find reasonable price services. Brian, great customer service and has a lot of knowledge about vehicles. i'm extremely happy and will say I will be recommending Skips moving forward. Really unprofessional business. Dropped off my car for a knock sensor replacement at 8:30 was told to wait an hour for a call back on diagnostics (my car had already been diagnosed) waited 3 hours only for me to have to call them. When I said that I had been told that I'd be called in an hour and it had been three Brian was quick to cop and attitude on how he still didn't know what was wrong with the car... (a phone call still could've been made within that timeframe to communicate what was going on) "when I found out you'll be the first ones to know" with an attitude. I mentioned that I was told that he would be able to finish within that day, he said in a rude tone "It's 11 o clock" as if I didn't know that when I had been waiting for 3 hours to receive a call back. I told him I'd be taking my car elsewhere and I'll be in to get my car. Only for my car to be in the driveway, unlocked and with the keys inside. With no supervision. My car could have been stolen while in their care. The lack of accountability and respect here is alarming. Would not take my car here if I were you. read more

This is a great place! Everyone including Brian, the owner, is super friendly and responsive. He has helped me out multiple times with car issues and he is always eager to help. They answer their phone calls on time which is a big plus for me. Their rates are about average to what other shops charge. They do have a small parking lot, but they will help you maneuver your car to their bay. read more

I went to Skips Auto Repair to get my thermostat replaced, within an hour of leaving the establishment my car was overheating again. I called Brian and told him this, he said for me to bring the car back in the next day. By then I had already found out the water pump had busted, which he did replace the following day. Again within an hour of leaving his establishment my car overheated again. I called him again several times as they would not answer the phone. When they finally did answer the phone I was once again told to bring my car back. When I brought my car in for the 3rd time I was met with Brian and another service worker cussing and then laughing as they looked at my car. I was told they did not know what was wrong with it and then later without any diagnostics being ran on my car, was told by Brian he was pretty sure it was my head gasket. Brian told me he was going to get approval from my warranty company to replace the head gasket, which he never bothered to do. I found this out by calling my warranty company several times to see if he had even put in a claim for the repair to be done. I called Brian several times trying to find out what was going on with my car, always being told he was on the phone with my warranty company, which he never was. After several days of dealing with this my car was taken to a mechanic who informed me that the thermostat on my car had never been replaced or was replaced by an old one leading to my water pump and head gasket blowing. Brian charged my warranty company $343.00 to replace a thermostat, which was never replaced or replaced with a used one and I'm not even sure how much he charged them for my water pump as I was never given a receipt. This place is a joke, they will rip you and your warranty company off. If you want your car fixed do not take it to Skips Auto Repair. The photos are of the thermostat he charged me and my warranty company for. Update to my original review: Since I allowed this place to work on my car I have had to replace the cylinder head on my car, which cost me over $1500.00 and that was just the cost for the cylinder head, not the labor. Plus another $176.00 to have diagnostic ran on my car by the Chevy dealership, loss of wages because I have been without transportation since I allowed them to put their hands on my car. I have a warranty on my car, but can't use it due to all the damages being caused to the faulty part I was told by skips was replaced. Because of this I have had to pay all repairs to my car out of pocket. Also if you stand up for yourself be prepared to be called nasty names by Brian, who will then and only then call you. I will be filing a lawsuit against this company read more

Purchased some Brembo brakes and pads for my 2003 Honda Element. When I contacted Skip's to have them installed I was surprised to hear them refuse to do the work. Apparently, they only work with parts that they order themselves. When I asked if I had any say in what parts were going to be installed on my vehicle their answer was no. This smacks of some sweetheart deal they have with their supplier and maybe a bit of price gouging. Sorry Skip, but count me out. read more

I took my car in to have a transmission replaced. After having the transmission replaced by Skip's we noticed a thudding noise coming from the front passenger side about a week after having the service performed. This resulted in needing to have the CV joint replaced although it was not an issue prior and paid Skip's to fix it as well. We took the car back in after that for the same noise and Skip's said that they didn't see any issues. We noticed a couple of additional issues; a faint burning oil smell and we had to start filling up the engine coolant tank every two weeks. We then found out after taking the car somewhere else that an oil hose was punctured as well as a coolant hose. Additionally, the front sway bar had been broken and Skip's didn't take responsibility for any of this after it was clear that there was no care in taking out or putting in the new transmission. read more

As a retired firefighter, I maintain my vehicles at a level higher than most. That said, the only non dealer shop I will use is Skips. Honest to a fault, they listen carefully and repairs are done right the first time. Appointments are always taken on time and timely communication is beyond the ordinary. A total hand of aces! I was initially chasing down a squeaking noise coming from under my car so I had a u-joint replaced at a different place in town. They charged me twice what the part was worth and the squeak was still there. After losing faith in them, I took my car to the dealership in town who told me I needed a new transfer case. Their quote was very high so I got a recommendation from a friend and took my car to Skip's to replace transfer case. I told my story to the guy that usually answers the phone. He quoted me a couple hundred dollars less than the dealership and talked up the warranty for the part so I figured it was worth it. After about a week and ordering the wrong part, they finally "finished" the job. They told me they drove all the way to some-local-road and back and didn't hear any squeak. The second I drive off the lot, the squeak is back. It has stayed even after almost $2000 in repairs. Because they seemed nice enough, I brought my car back to look into it. They claimed I never told them that fixing a squeak was my motive. This should have been my first red flag, because I know I did (communication is a HUGE issue which I will get to later). I go in, personally drive around with one of the guys, and tell him everything I know about the problem hoping that he cares enough to use that information to fix it. Unfortunately the sound went away when he rode around with me and they claimed to have never heard it when they test drove my car. They check out my belts, joints, and whatever else and tell me everything looks "fine" except for some loose bolts on the part that THEY HAD JUST INSTALLED THEMSELVES. Glad you caught that...Keep up the good work guys. The squeaking continues. At this point I have been searching all over the internet for answers to my problem. Apparently this is a common thing with my make and model so I stupidly take it back to Skip's one more time. I figure this time I will just tell them what I want done (u-joint replacement, drive shaft replacement if necessary, and a transmission fluid flush [just because I need it]) and I will finally be rid of my problem. I left my car on their lot on Wednesday. They call me Thursday saying things look "fine." I say replace the joints anyway. Radio silence until I call them a full week after I dropped it off (ok, Easter Sunday and a day or two to compensate for drop off time and patience, STILL 4 whole days to do a couple hours worth of labor). I have been nothing but patient with them. When I finally pick up my car on Friday they say that they DIDN'T HAVE TIME to flush my transmission. My car sat in their lot for a week and a day and they DIDN'T HAVE TIME. Unbelievable. If they honestly didn't have time to work on my car I wish they would have just told me instead of wasting my time. To top it off, I asked what the brand names for the parts they used were and he conveniently couldn't tell me. The u-joint alone was double what most online searches come up with and I know they aren't putting the highest quality parts in my car. Sketchy. If you've read this far, then thank you, because you care a lot more than they did about me or my car. If not just for their sluggish service, I wouldn't recommend them because of their communication issues. One of my biggest complaints about this place is that nobody there talks to anybody else in the shop. I witnessed the guy at the counter write down what my car needed and the guy I talked to a couple days later thought I had a completely different problem. Why are 7 different mechanics working on my car? Does it really take that many people to replace a u-joint? I watched a six-year-old kid do it on Youtube! I'm done wasting my time and money at a place that doesn't tighten bolts or pass on important information to their mechanics. I might sound like a picky customer in this review, but I'm just fed up. Nobody has inspired me to do my own mechanic work more. Don't waste your time here. By the time they even start, you could have looked it up yourself, bought the parts, waited for shipping, finished the job, and enjoyed a beer. read more
