Used to work right down the road from Stup's years ago and stopped in one time to buy a full spare replacement tire for my sons 2013 Hyundai Sonata. Called 3 times for towing and never got a callback. Only was able to reach a new guy in the auto shop and he was very helpful, but not the right guy. He said Tammy was running the towing estimate/schedule and she never calls back, he did try to transfer me but she never answered. I took my sons truck in to be serviced because the ABS light came on and there was a sound coming from the right front. Stups diagnosed it quickly and replaced my hub assembly and sensor. Joe, the service manager, was also very helpful in explaining what needed to be done. They also fixed by broken tailgate. I'm thankful to have a reliable and trustworthy shop I can trust that is also reasonably priced! I Highly recommend them! read more

I went to Stups Auto for some good used Mags for my Mazda3. I met Gabriel in Parts, and He took my out into the junk yard to find some mags. Gabriel was kind, and professional, and he helped me load the mags, and some great used tires. This is a Great place to get parts, and they treat you nice and fair!! The part to fix my car is part of a larger assembly, that the dealership wanted $600 for. All I needed was the smallest piece, and then I can splice it in. Stup's had it, charged me $20. In & out, no fuss, no mess, no problems. Very polite, and highly recommended. read more

Stup's is the best! I had been driving a hand-me-down clunker and wanted to get a newer car. Dave had me test drive some of the used cars on the lot. I didn't love any of them, so he sat down with me and asked what I was looking for. He suggested some models I might like and suggested I go to the local dealership to drive them. Over the next month or two, he kept an eye out at used car auctions for the car he knew I'd like. He only bid on cars after looking into their history and checking them out himself. He got me a great car at a reasonable price, accepted my clunker as a trade in, and helped me with all the paperwork. I refer my friends to Stup's all the time. read more

I just got my car fixed in San Diego and it reminded me that I hadn't written anything about this repair shop. Before I left the DC area in October 2010, I had been going to this place since the mid 1990s to get my car fixed. They did the job right, and they were always willing to work with you to get the job done with you spending as little money as possible. If you need your car repaired and you live in the metro DC area, it's well worth the drive to get your car fixed here. Dave and Richard are very good at what they do. I had to replace tires on a car I just inherited and the dealer wanted $1300 with alignment. Stup's said alignment was fine and found a better set of tires for $650. I was in desperate need of a gear indicator for my Pontiac, and I needed it by the end of the week for my vehicle to pass inspection. Luckily, Stup's was able to locate and retrieve it for me. We have taken many cars there for repair and spent many thousands of dollars and many times have had to return the "repair" to be re- repaired or replaced due to some mechanic's error. The last time we had a dispute and the "boss" had to get involved because it involved a refund of over $385. We had to go there and meet the man in person and after the car - which had to be towed because of their shoddy work - was inspected, Stup came in after keeping us waiting almost half an hour and announced that they were at fault but would not offer the full amount back, citing "that he as his mechanics at $27 an hour to pay, you know." He also informed us that "He had better things to attend to than this," standing over us like naughty schoochildren and telling us that "We could take his offer or leave it, he didn't care." His eventually agreed to settle the matter with us or we'd go to BBB for less than half of the amount spent, not to mention the additional $80 in towing spent to get the car removed from route 15 on a busy Friday night. He wouldn't even pay the amount then, when we were there. We had to go back again the following Monday when I guess he felt like writing the check, made us sign a waiver of any further liability, then tossed the check at us. Three words for this place, avoid, avoid, avoid! read more

After working here for 3 years I have only one word to say about this place and that is Ohana.

First you'll be put on hold for a reasonable amount of time. The website is [misleading. Lowball quotes for anything you have, but they can will get top dollar for. (I understand they need to make money also) They'll call it salvage, and that they have so many of what you want a quote on. That will be the end of conversation. If you have good parts, mechanically sound and supposed to be offered a top Market value, you'll be told its salvage and be lowballed. Shop around people this long running business is treating you like you're ignorant of their trade. Skip this place and shop around for a better company and more professional people. read more

A couple of days ago, I posted a negative review after receiving no response from the company about a defective car window switch/door lock part they had sent me. After the owner Dave Stups found out about my issue, he got in touch with me by both email and personal phone calls, to apologize and make things right. HORRIBLE PEOPLE. My 2.5 year old son was in a wreck with his grandmother on Friday. My car was towed there. We went on Saturday morning to get some things out of it and fill out paperwork. The guy there told me several times he didn't know what he as doing. Its Monday now and my insurance company needs to pick up with vehicle. The woman who answered said that the guy gave me the original and they won't release the vehicle until they have that. Well, I don't have a car to get there. And when I said it's not my fault, how can you help me, she yelled at me and said it's not her fault either. She then put me on speaker and her and another guy continued to raise their voice and talk over me. She told me it's not her problem and refused to help me in any way. HORRIBLE PLACE, HORRIBLE PEOPLE. If you have a choice, DON't GO HERE!! read more

While some of their business seem OK, I will not take a vehicle there again for a Maryland inspection. They recently did a safety inspection on my Prius that had only 27,200 miles on it. Not only did they charge $87.50, but found cosmetic (not safety) issues with bumper trims, they also reported that 3 of the shocks were leaking and quoted over $1700 to replace all 4. So the dealer was contacted in Menassas, VA who agreed to absorb some of the repair that his garage wanted for the shock replacement. The bad news came when the mechanic reported that NONE of the shocks he replaced had been leaking; they were just a bit dusty. So back to Stups who then wanted $25 to re-inspect this Prius. Sure seems to me like Stups is taking advantage of the MD safety inspection program! read more

I called and purchased 2 used tires and had Stup's install them for me. It took an hour and twenty minutes for them to install 2 tires and while doing so destroyed a pressure sensor in one of the tires that will cost me $115 just for the parts. I would NEVER use them again read more
