Terrible! I was in town for the Grand Prix and had eaten here before and was happy with my meal. I ordered the muscles as my main course. The muscle meat was overcooked to the point of liquid. It was gross... I told the server that they were very overcooked when she stopped to check in and the only response was "okay, sorry." No offer to take them back. No offer to remove them from the bill and order something else. The were pretty much inedible, but the server definitely did not seem concerned which leads me to believe the restaurant doesn't value quality food and isn't concerned with what they serve customers. With so many options in Greektown, it's better to go somewhere else. $45 dollars for inedible muscles, some fries and one drink. read more

We came in a few minutes before the sushi bar closed and the server was nice enough to still take our order after the cutoff. The restaurant itself is big and has a nice relaxing vibe. We ordered the California roll, vegas roll and seafood pasta orleans. The sushi was like your average roll at any mediocre restaurant, nothing special about it, but the pasta was amazing! We shared one, and they split the pasta into two plates for us, and it was still such a big portion. The generous amount of seafood they actually put in there surprised me, and the sauce is amazing. Also, the bread rolls and butter they give you from the start are to die for! Overall, I'd give this place more of a 4.5 stars, but I feel like they should have better sushi for a place called Fishbone's :) Definitely recomend the pasta, though! read more

I was in town visiting friends and came here. I got the fried catfish. It said it was a mild heat so I figured I would be alright. The heat was not the issue but the seasoning or lack there of was. It was fried well just missed flavor. The Caesar salad was good with large shavings of cheese and tasty salad dressing. The Texas Tea was okay. We had to walk through the shopping center to get to it which was interesting since the mall was closed. The interior is dark and darker still in the bar area. Nice ambiance for a date or girls hanging out like we were. Plenty of space for the tables and it looked like there may have been a fountain wall but was not working while we were there. I wanted to give this place a 3.5. It's not exactly a 4 but it's not a 3 either. For an appetizers, we ordered the cat fish beignets and the calamari. We were choosing between the two so we asked the waitress which is better and she responded "the cat fish beignets are our signature item but the calamari is popularly ordered". I would have to agree with the hype of the catfish. It was perfectly fried and seasoned with a very nice texture. It also came with a house sauce that tasted like a chipotle tartar sauce. I wasn't a fan of the calamari. The calamari was cut too thin so it felt like I was eating fried breading and not fried calamari. The bread was soft on the inside and came with a herb butter that was a nice addition. For our meals, my partner and I shared the Po boy sandwich and the Orleans pasta. I asked for it to be a little spicy, since it was not listed as a spacey plate. The portion sizes were really nice. We barely put a dent in the sand which. The shrimp was nicely fried, however, a little under seasoned. The fries that came with the meal were really good. The orleans pasta was good, however, rather than a spicy flavor it was very peppery. I loved the blend of all of the seafood with the flavor of the pasta. My friend got the Atlantic salmon and was indifferent about the flavor. Very poor management and customer service! Took my family here on Tuesday and I felt like fainting at the table. Went outside and they freaked out about a glass of water I had. My chest started tightening and I couldn't breathe well. Told my family cancel the order we were going to the hospital. They threatened to call the cops on us if we left without paying. All they had to say was hey the food is already being made we need you to pay you can take it to go but they threatened a cop call. I heard great things about this restaurant, this was my first time eating here . I was seated right away the restaurant was not busy and very clean . My waiter came finally introduced himself as Dennis and I told him our drink order then he disappeared for about 10 minutes I then ordered appetizers and that took forever Dennis was know where In sight we needed refills we had none . When we finally got our food that's all the Dennis did was drop it off . We had to ask for our bill and then wait once again for him to come back . we dined on 4.12.2025 and this was the worst dinning experience I have ever experienced. Let's work it backwards. Image the night ending with four security officers being told to come stand at the door of the private room that the restaurant has assigned you too because the incompetent manger sent them after she lacked the professionalism to correct the several billing mistakes that included over charging and adding items to the bill that no one had even ordered. Image the waitstaff not knowing what table to bring the food to and just standing in the middle of the room calling out the item that they have in their hand yes that happened. Imagine getting one glass of water and never being asked if you would like a refill mind you this is a wedding party usually you have pitchers of water from the start but nope they didn't bring out the 2 pitchers for the five tables until we had been there for about 2 hours. 2 hours with no food because they only took the appetizer and drink order and that took about and hour then once we were allowed to orders food it did not come until almost 10 o clock. We arrived at 8 didn't get drinks and appetizers until a little after 9 then they took the entree orders and they arrived at 10. Then when the bills came they had those completely wrong charging $100 for old fashions and charging for four when only 2 were ordered. It took them to closing time to correct the egregious errors that they had made due to one improper staffing for our party and flat out incompetence and poor customer service. The icing on the cake for me is when the young man that was apart of the wait staff made a racist comment. Arrived into town just as the semi-final World Cup match was kicking off. Fishbone's was recommended as the closest and best spot to find the game. I wasn't expecting much beyond a tv and a drink. This place far exceeded my expectations. Before saying anything else, I just need to give a huge shoutout to the bartender Shelley. She was slammed with our group of 11 all at once at the bar - everyone ordering drinks, meals, some with special requests. Shelley nailed it! She deserves thanks and a raise. As for the order. I got the chopped salad ($7.50) with lemon vinaigrette on the side, and a margarita ($5 during happy hour starting at 3pm). Again, our girl Shelley delivered. No pre-mix, she made this marg herself and it was great. The salad was also better than I was expecting. Great ratio of lettuce to all of the other fixings (peppers, onion, almond slivers, chickpeas, pita croutons, and best of all, real mozz). Fresh and filling and I ate every single bite. The service has gone straight downhill. Used to be a regular stop when downtown, but it just doesn't justify the prices anymore. We asked hostess a question only to be barked at, saying "just wait up there." The gentleman seating us was complaining about how long it took for me to handle the stairs - Sorry, but I am disabled. This is as fast as I go. Once seated, the waitress had a better attitude, but forgot many things. Our appetizers came out after our main course.... We wanted refills but she was never available.... They were out of Cole slaw, so she just brought the items without anything and said "Sorry." And despite asking 4 times for bread, she finally "remembered " but the kitchen was out and not making any more. I usually tip 20-25%, but they automatically added 15. Fishbone's never lets me down! Now it is nothing to rave about, but the food is always pretty good and I always seem to get a great waiter/waitress. This location and its proximity to Greektown Casino and The Atheneum you are always bound to see someone you know. Also, I love the waterfall/fountain and beautiful atrium. Price is $$-$$$ for two people. Breakfast is the best meal served here, lunch & dinner service took too long for how many tables were open. The food is just right at breakfast & not quite there for lunch and dinner. Service is slow & they seem rushed, never really taking time to interact, except again at breakfast. Room service isn't much better, takes 40-60 min & they charge gratuity as well as a tip. We would tip more if gratuity wasn't already charged.Dessert is the next best meal. Top eats: 1) Breakfast 2) Steak 3) Gumbo Ya-Ya 4) Friday clam chowder 4) Fries 5) potatoes 6) sushi 7) sandwiches 8) Bananas Foster Sundae Next we might try the gumbo (Thursday). My husband and I traveled to Downtown Detroit, MI for a wedding. We wanted to find a restaurant for a nice dinner. Fishbone's was within walking distance from our hotel. There was a good crowd for a Thursday night. I ordered the Faroe Island Salmon and my husband ordered Ahi Tuna Steak. Both entrees came with vegetables. My salmon was cooked to perfection. The Ahi Tuna steak was nicely seared. Our waiter was polite and knowledgeable about the menu. This restaurant deserves a higher rating - should be a minimum of 4. read more

The atmosphere was very festive with the tree up and there were live musicians setting up at 9.30pm(we left so did not see them perform). The menu is Cajun/ creole but nothing can prepare you for the crawfish bucket dunked completely in hot sauce. Not my cup of tea at all but DH seemed to enjoy it. It had pieces of potato and corn which I stole! The appetizers were the 'opa' worthy flaming cheese, zucchini fries and complimentary warm rolls with amazing garlic butter. For the table we got various types of sushi rolls, pasta, lamb chops, crab cake. Everything came out quickly and was great tasting. We were a table of six and It took us a while to get waters all around. The server actually messed up three of the six orders that we ordered. Between misplating, not including sides and one order that was completely wrong (my order). Unfortunately the kitchen had already closed so there was nothing we could do about it. Edit 2: I have tried to contact the manager multiple times since they said they would refund the charges on the 6th. They never refunded anything nor got back to me. I will never go back to this restaurant and I would never suggest it to anyone I know. Absolutely ridiculous. Edit: the manager explained how those extra charges happened. It was an accident. Something about how their credit card machine works and splitting the bills at the tables. She said she was refunding my money and making the server pay for the difference. I'm not sure what sits more wrong with me... them making the server pay $120 of a bill or being charged for it originally. Pretty sure it's the making the server pay the $120 though. Still won't be going back and still unimpressed with the whole situation. Had dinner here over the past weekend. Service wasn't bad considering the situation most restaurants are in. However, I now have three charges on my credit card from here and only one is mine... not really sure how that could happen accidentally. We came to Fishbone's on a work trip. I'm pretty sure it's in an old hotel. The inside is HUGE and looks so cool. The food was excellent. We had the hot wings (excellent), the artichoke dip. It was piping hot (almost too hot) but super tasty. For meals I had the Jambalaya. And oh man was it good. Super spicy and fresh. The sausage was sooooo delicious. My Buddy had a pasta dish that he enjoyed. I looked up and it was all gone haha. They could use a few more beers on tap. But honestly this was an awesome place. I'll be back because the menu is FULL of things to try. From New Orleans style, pasta, burgers and seafood. read more

My lady and I came to the downtown location for a late lunch. She is from Philly, and I've been trying to show her some of Detroit's finest. She THOROUGHLY enjoyed this experience! Our group went to FISHBONES for dinner prior to a Tiger game. Three in our group ordered Fish and Chips and I ordered the Jambalaya. Everyone raved about the French fries! The fish (cod) was delicious. I enjoyed my regular, Jambalaya. It was spicy and had an outstanding taste. (My only problem was that the portions were quite a bit smaller.) The service was excellent! Our hostess was attentive even though she was attending many other parties. I DID NOT LIKE YOUR PAYMENT SYSTEM! Normally, when paying the bill for a party of four, I DID NOT EXPECT A 15% GRATUITY ADDED! When I normally pay a bill for FOUR people, I add a 20% tip (in cash) for the hostess, along with "plastic" for company. When I looked at the bill at home, I realized that the hostess received about 35%+! (I would have thought that "someone" should have mentioned the gratuity was part of the bill. The restaurant has a nice decor the service is alittle lacking as I just dined there June 26 ! I ordered the shrimp stuffed with crab very good but the hurricane I ordered didn't come close to the hurricanes I've gotten in New Orleans and the seafood gumbo way over spiced had it not been so expensive probably wouldn't of eaten it .... I think if you're gonna offer New Orleans inspired food you should have someone cooking it that knows how it's done properly as well as the drinks ! For the prices charged which appeared to be a little on the high side I'm sure there might be other places close by where you might get a better bang for your $$$!!! It's a 3.5-star place, not quite 4-star. A friend of mine comes to this place during the SAE conference every year, and I joined the group for the first time. Since this place is pretty close to the People Mover station, it's pretty convenient from the Cobo Center. It was not crowded during the lunchtime. The snack tray is a very generous portion, it's filled with hot wings, onion rings, spring rolls, fried zucchini, and popcorn shrimp. We have five people, and this tray already made us half full. I got the Pasta Orleans for a half size, very glad they offer half size since the snack tray is so big. The pasta is creamy and flavorful. It's kind of oily. I like the mushroom and tomato add a fresh taste to it. One of us came here a couple of times, and he remembered it tasted better in the past. read more

Thanks also for his extra effort in finding my cell phone that I had dropped underneath the table and had been frantically searching for back in my office. I have eaten at this restaurant probably a dozen times. It is a great place to bring lunch guests. (I've only been here for lunch.) Ricardo and the rest of the team do a great job of taking care of me and my guests. Solid tables, comfortable large silverware, clean restrooms, not noisy, but also not dead quiet. This is a comfortable place to eat, everyone could be wearing ties and fit right in. Or you could be wearing jeans and sweatshirts. Fortunately, the food is also very very good. I've had five or six different things and I've ended up going for the jambalaya the last several times I have been there. It is every bit as good as the jambalaya that you can get in New Orleans. But they also have a pretty diverse selection of food, steak, salads, plenty of vegetarian options. They also have great appetizers. They are all really tasty, good solid food. Ricardo brought us a really neat appetizer that I've had a couple other times, flaming Greek cheese! No joke, and it's a load of fun to get the table talking and happy.
