We had a fun day in Detroit and apparently due to some mishap earlier in the day, the hotel gave him some food credit for this restaurant. Let me say, this was such a fun experience, great company, great food and great service. Cibo Detroit has such an amazing vibe, well lit, bringing in a peaceful but fun energy and great art decor, making it feel very upscale. The food matched the ambience, everything was delicious. First time trying Cibo! The ambiance is warm, open and inviting. We had a reservation and was sat right away. We came around 5pm so it was still during their new happy hour (4-6, M-F) we ordered some cocktails which were tasty. Cocktails were all $12 during happy hour. We also got two apps from the HH menu, and one app from the regular menu. The pizza tasted like it came from a pizza oven which was great, the palomino dip was rich with flavor, and the shrimp had a great flavor to them. For entrees we got the salmon, meatball, and crab orchettie, probably spelled wrong lol all had good flavor. The polenta with the meat ball was a bit flavorless but over all good. When our bill came we noticed there was 15% gratuity already added and a 5% "service fee" also noticed the HH prices weren't applied. Our waitress did fix it quickly, which was appreciated. Right before I left Detroit, I popped in for a quick visit since I saw Cibo on Opulist! It is an absolutely gorgeous restaurant and you immediately get an upscale vibe from the moment you walk in. My wife & I visited Cibo for Valentine's Day, and again more recently for a friend's birthday. The interior design is great, especially like the tall ceilings and the bar. The service was very good the first time, and great the second time we dropped in. The food was very good, I really liked the Boar Stroganoff, and the BBQ ribs and pizza we passed around was also great. Some of the meals were just ok, like the cornbread. Sad to say I don't think I would be dining here again. The ambience is lovely. The interior is beautifully decorated and matches the upscale nature of the restaurant. The food was a complete miss. We ordered a medium tomahawk and it arrived overcooked. We had it sent back and it took them 35 minutes to make us another one. The second one was just as chewy and lacked flavor. The cuts of the meat were not of good quality. The truffle fries were good, garlic mushrooms were ok. Service was also lacking, we had to flag down our server a few times because he just wasnt coming around at all. It was $250 for me and my 2 boys (it was for one of their birthday dinners). Sadly for the price, I would have rather gone to our favorite takeout joint as the food did not taste worth it at all. read more

Such a hidden gem! This restaurant is in a strange area, the restaurant just doesn't seem to fit the neighborhood. But I'm so glad I came here because it's so unique, the decor and ambience are on point. Classic Detroit art deco adds a touch of elegance to the dining experience. The food, the ambiance and decor it was all top notch. Special shoutout to our server Ken S. whose recommendations were 4/4 and really made us feel special all night. A good start for this new modern mediterranean in the beautiful, new Cambria hotel downtown. We had reservations, which was a good thing as I overheard that they were completely booked on the Saturday evening (the bar has walk in space). The space is beautiful, light and modern, with high ceilings and tall windows. It managed to do this without a stuffy or trying to hard feel. They also had a room for large groups. The cocktails I had were both were fine-good, but had very similar favor profiles. We shared a few items, all came out at a good pace, and each was a good portion size. We started with the pomegranate ribs. These were fantastic, I would give these a five stars by themselves, and I'd come back just to have them again. The dry rub was so good, the sauce on the side wasn't needed. The mediterranean salad was a miss for us, others have mentioned the same thing. It was not bad at all, but just a bit flat. I think it needed more flavor in certain spots or a different dressing. We had the moussaka for a main, it is probably one of the best vegan dishes I've had. I did not realize it was meatless, the previous versions I've had have had meat in them. But it was not missed here, the mushrooms added the right texture and balance with the other vegetable and sauce. The presentation was also lovely. The service was very good, our server was friendly and made good suggestions. We did have a minor issue at the end we were able to address ourselves. We asked to split the bill, but when our cards came back, they were charged unevenly (by around $35). On a recent Sunday my friend M and I decided to venture to Cibo for a leisurely brunch. We had a noon reservation. By the time we left around 2:30 pm, all the tables were full. The restaurant space sets the tone with high ceilings and unique chandeliers. There is a large bar with lots of seating. The large mirror behind the shelves of spirits makes the space seem even bigger than it actually is. There are several high top tables as well as regular dining room seating. There is also a separate area for private dining which is enclosed in glass so that you are still part of the dining room. Since it was brunch, we started with strawberry mimosas. There are so many things on the menu that it's hard to just pick one dish so we shared a few and got our own individual main dishes. You actually have the option to order from the brunch or lunch menu. Brunch is only served until 2pm. So many choices! We started with the Za'atar Biscuit & Gravy (creamy-merguez gravy). The gravy has lamb in it so be forewarned vegetarians. It was sooo good! On my next visit, I will probably order 2 biscuits and gravy as my main dish and have a side of scrambled eggs. M ordered the avocado crostini and scrambled eggs. I had the braised bacon benedict. For dessert, we split the bread pudding French toast. Everything was delicious! Beautiful decor and ambience, love the palm trees. The food and service were great too. We ordered the whipped feta that came with focaccia bread and lamb kofta, both were delicious. This restaurant was amazing. Situated inside the Cambria hotel, Cibo matches the hotel's 1920s-1930s Art Deco vibe perfectly. I ordered the Mushroom White pizza and split it with my husband. It was delicious. Probably the second best mushroom pizza I've ever had in my life. We were sitting near the pass and had been watching the Chef put the finishing touches on meals before sending them off all night. Every meal we saw him send off looked amazing, but he sent off a pasta dish and I couldn't help myself. I called out, "what's that pasta?" He told us it was the Carbonara, and we told him it looked really good, as did all the other food we saw coming through the pass. Next thing you know, our server approaches us and says the Chef is sending the Carbonara over for us. Took us by complete surprise and was such a lovely gesture. He didn't have to do that, but that he did just speaks volumes of the atmosphere and culture of the restaurant. The Carbonara was the best my husband's ever had. What an atmosphere! Beautiful environment, DJ playing music in the background (just loud enough to know he's there), REAL trees. The service is great, from the time you walk in and check your coat (if you'd like) until the time you leave and the hostess (I should have asked her name, I'm sorry, young lady) helps you put it on...and everything in between. Alissa was our server. Have you ever had your server use her napkin as a splash guard when refilling your water or coffee? Alissa does! She was very knowledgeable of the menu and made some great recommendations as well. Jasmine, the manager, introduced herself and welcomed us to the restaurant. The food! Everything was delicious. We came for brunch, but I'll definitely be back to enjoy dinner. The French toast bread pudding - two thick slices, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft (but not mushy) on the inside. The shaksuka - the sauce is a flavor bomb! Well-seasoned, oh, so good. I did have to ask the to cook my eggs a little longer, so if you're like me and don't like a runny yolk, be sure to specify that. The salmon Benedict- also a good choice. The capers and pickled red onions really set it off. Avocado tehina - give a chips and guacamole vibe, but the pita chips taste WAY better. I don't know what they're seasoned with, but that blend is terrific. The whipped avocado has something in it that was a little too tart/sour, but it was still enjoyable. (I packed up the leftovers...lol) Cake & labneh - the poppy cake was a little dense, but still delicious. I think we all had the same reaction to the labneh...YUMMY! We went last night! It was a really nice and aesthetic atmosphere with super tasty food. I had a glass of red wine and my bf got one of their mocktails. We started off with a charcuterie board (antipasti), pork belly, and grilled halloumi cheese. The halloumi was definitely my favorite of the 3. The pork belly was a little bit dry but the soft boiled egg was perfect. For entrees, I had the halal half chicken and Enzo had the lasagna. Honestly it was the best chicken I've had at a restaurant. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection omfg it was so juicy. For desert we shared a semi-fredo flambé that was absolutely incredible and two espressos. The espresso was perfectly smooth and not burnt and the flambé was perfectly burnt lol We got a large amount of food for $224 before tip. I'd def recommend checking it out!! read more
