Sicilian Fish Market 41 years open by Phil who passed away last year, now Sonny runs the show just as dad did. It's been a decade since I last stopped in, shame on me. They have hundreds of customers from Weyands Fish that closed a year ago in Wyandotte. Had a fantastic Pickerel Dinner only $13 with Fries, Slaw, Bread and Drink. Outstanding Wowed Fried fresh then I ate ate the counter in front window. Truly a Hidden Gem in East Dearborn a must visit for the Seafood Lovers, get this zero Fish smell in this place. It is a place to buy seafood to take home. HOWEVER....they have a menu that includes a wide variety of fish you can have fried on the spot and take to go. The fries were just yummy, but the fish was so so good. The best fried fish I have ever had. Crispy and flavorful on the outside, creamy and delicious on the inside. This is truly a hidden gem. Don't expect to go and have a nice sit down elegant seafood dinner. Do expect to truly enjoy your fried fishy goodness! This is the definition of a hidden gem. Hundreds of 5 star reviews around the web Google Yelp Instagram Facebook, take a look. #thefishmarket #pickeral #freshfish #fishmarket #buyandfry #sicilianfamily #eastdearborn #downriverfriendseat

This is 1.5 piece of their cod dinner! And portion of fries halved as well!

The food used to be great... since last year, the quality has declined... cod tastes like it was refried... rubbery. The quantity has been halved... I almost wish they would raise the price and keep the same quantity as then I cud be ordered something else too because it was literally fish stick sized portions. I hope they go back to their old ways... so disappointing

Lake perch dinner (comes with fries, cole slaw, and bread) - $10.99

My roommate kept coming home with meals from the Fish Market for lunch, and it always smelled SO good that eventually I had to check it out for myself. I will definitely be a repeat customer! The store is clean and inviting and really feels like a mom and pop place. I got the Lake Perch meal on the recommendation of the man working the counter (by the way, staff was very helpful and got my order done quickly)! You can see them go to put your fish in the fryer as you wait, so you know you're getting fresh food, not something that's been sitting around. The fish is seasoned well, the batter is not too thick, and the overall taste is excellent. Truly melts in your mouth. Add a little lemon or tartar sauce if you like (I do!), but the fish stands on its own. The meals also come with a LARGE amount of fries, cole slaw, and a slice of bread - prices vary depending on the fish, but the Lake Perch meal was $10.99 which I thought was a great price. They also have a big selection of fish behind the glass that you can buy and cook at home. I'm no expert, but everything looked super fresh to me. My friend bought some whitefish and baked it for lunch today, and it looks incredible. I want to head back over sometime soon to pick up some salmon or trout to bake. Finally, they even have a selection of hot sauces, seasonings, and spices that you can use to cook your own fish if you need some ideas! Awesome place that is definitely worth a visit (or three).

It doesn't get much better than this! They have a large variety of fresh fish that you can either take home and cook yourself, or have them cook it for you. Deep frying is their only cooking method, so if you're looking for something healthy you may want to cook it yourself. The fish here is really fresh and it comes out in the taste. Everything is cooked to order, but it didn't take long for me to get my food. I ordered fried oysters and lake perch, which were both seasoned well. It was my 1st time having lake perch so I didn't know what to expect...but I was very pleased. They oysters were really good as well. There isn't a lot of sitting room here, but there are a few seats if you want to eat in. They also sell seasonings and sauces in addition to fresh seafood. I'm not sure if this is a family-owned establishment, but that's the feel that I got from it. The service was good and the food was even better. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area.

What can I say about the Fish Market. Have been a recurring customer three years in a row and never have bought my sea food from anywhere else. Sunny & Phil, are the best Father/Son duo you will ever meet. Phil loves to smile, joke, and fry (no one can fry like Phil). While Sonny is more business oriented. They perfectly balance each other out. The place is absolutely immaculate. You will not understand the level of cleanliness until you visit this fish market your self. I am OCD when it come to cleaning, they top my OCD. Everyone n my family knows I make the beast seafood dinners and they provide the main ingredient, ALWAYS FRESH SEAFOOD. Additionally, they expanded their refrigeration to display more types of fish. Love the new variety of sea food products. The duo live on the legacy left behind by their mother/wife who has passed away in 2012. She was known to be the one to always share her loaf of bread and fish. #Fried Shrimp #Fresh Fish #Cod Fried Dinner #Catfish #Fillets For more of my food endeavors follow my IG : @fulfillicious

    Orange roughy dinner
    Jennifer W.

I was in the area and had read the great reviews about The Fish Market. I ordered the orange roughy dinner with fries, coleslaw, and bread. There were two large pieces of the fish, and it was good and cooked well. This ranks as one of the best fish markets where I've ordered a cooked meal.

Now I'm gonna be fair and honest. Been going here for 15 years. Basically its been a fishy hole in…read morethe wall with good food. Not always the cleanest place but always good food, with big good shrimp. Now you have new owners, some Caldean or Arabs have taken over. Sorry not meaning to offend, but I don't know the difference. Its been maybe a year. So any reviews before this don't apply. So first the food. I come mostly for the shrimp. At first it sucked. The shrimp were all stuck together, at one point they were butterfly shrimp, again all stuck together, don't get it. I stopped coming for a few months. Came back the middle of Oct, ordered half a pound of shrimp and 5 wings about 2 in the afternoon. They said 15 min. I arrive in 15 minutes. My shrimp was done but the guy says another 5 minutes for the chicken. I told him never mind it you haven't dropped the chicken, I don't want to wait. He got an attitude, now I though the chicken hadn't been dropped and didn't want to wait. It had been dropped and I was willing to wait but DID NOT LIKE HIS ATTITUDE AND WAS QUICK TO TELL HIM, DON'T GET AN ATTITUDE WITH ME. Still there was no other orders so why was my chicken not done with my shrimp. They changed from a cardboard box, to Styrofoam. Everybody knows that the box keeps the shrimp Christy and the Styrofoam makes the shrimp sweat and get soft ans sweaty. So I had to wait on the chicken while my shrimp got sweaty. Ok we have coved the food and the service. The ambiance is starting to look better. They have put in new refer units and some monitors which are not on yet but I guess are coming soon. So back to the food. So next week the fresh fish house up the street a little had on Wednesday one pound of jumbo shrimp for 16.99. The shrimp are small and one pound of their jumbo shrimp does not even compare to a half pound of really jumbo shrimp from redford fish, look at the photo from redford I included. So all and all the shrimp has come back to not being stuck together and is still quite good. Basically they are coming along, I gave a 3 star because the guy behind the register has no social skills. And no matter what happens you need to remember that here in America the customer is always right. Not to mention that here in Detroit, if you give attitude you'll get attitude and loose the customer. I still will go there so long as they keep the shrimp the way it is. But if you can't deal with the public, you will loose customers. And bring back to cardboard boxes to keep the shrimp Christy and save the landfills of tha Styrofoam that hangs around for years. Now look at the half pound of jumbo shrimp and when you go to fresh fish house you'll see its better and bigger here.

Ok my review was just added but the photo didn't come up. Ill try again, so anyway the food is good…read morethe service sucks. Please red my other review a few minute ago.

There was a 2 top table at the back that we were seated at - we could have sat at the bar also - and it was a great spot. We ordered the tasting menu and WOW, every course was amazing. I'll post pics because the presentation was gorgeous for each item. They have a small cocktail and wine and beer selection, but that was fine. My son got their Shrub Mocktail and I got the Shrub with Sake. Both were delicious and so interesting. I can't pick a favorite item because they were all so good, but the Torched Mackerel and Poached Bosc Pear were tied for #1, followed by the Salmon, Oysters and the crazy good Blood Orange dessert. The shrimp toast was just ok for me, not bad, just not as good as everything else. Additionally the service was outstanding. For a tiny place they did everything right. They explained each course, brought out fresh utensils for every course - YEA! - and made sure we had good pacing. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and enhanced our meal. I really want to come back and try the oysters and some of the tinned items. I'm so excited I found Mink and will be back for sure.

As others have mentioned, seating is somewhat limited, but that only adds to the excellent service and intimate experience. I wish I remembered the names of our server and the manager because they were incredibly kind, accommodating, and helpful throughout the evening. One example of the thoughtful service: I was torn between two white wines, and since my partner ordered one of them, our server offered to bring a small sample of the other so I could compare and choose what I liked best. We also mentioned that we had never tried caviar before but didn't want to commit to a larger portion. They suggested a "bump" for $5 each, walked us through how to enjoy it properly (on the hand, letting it warm slightly), and made the experience feel fun and approachable. We were seated at the bar, which gave us the opportunity to chat more with the server and manager and watch the team prepare dishes for other tables. It genuinely felt like sitting at the chef's table. We both opted for the tasting menu, which changes from time to time, and we were very happy with the selection. We also added the lobster roll, and our server thoughtfully timed it so we could enjoy it alongside the warmer course. The meal began with two different oysters, one topped with caviar, giving us another chance to enjoy it. Next was the shrimp cocktail, which included wasabi--but not in an overpowering way. The flavor was present yet balanced, allowing everything else to shine. The escargot course was especially creative and delicious, paired with basil oil, pepper jelly, and hints of balsamic. While it might sound unusual, the flavors blended beautifully. I expected the pepper jelly to dominate, but it was surprisingly subtle. Next was the potato pavé served with a scallop. The textures were remarkably similar, and the scallop was cooked perfectly. The lobster roll was very good, though I personally found the bread a bit denser than I prefer--I usually like a more buttery, Texas-toast style--but my partner loved it. The turbot followed, accompanied by a chestnut beurre blanc that was incredibly silky and flavorful. It paired wonderfully with the king trumpet mushrooms, black truffle and the fish. The final tasting course was the petit fours: three small cakes--matcha, red velvet, and ginger molasses. They were slightly dense, but still a nice way to end the meal. We also added the house-made basil ice cream (because the basil oil earlier was so good), and that was an excellent decision. Although my birthday had been a few months earlier, once the staff heard we were using a birthday gift card, they surprised me with vanilla ice cream, sprinkles, and a candle--such a thoughtful and unexpected touch. They also treated us to a small glass of dessert wine. By the end of the night, we knew we had found our new favorite place to celebrate. The overall experience is absolutely worth the price point, and I only wish more places were like Mink. We can't wait to return.
