tl;dr chicken katsu sando was fantastic, would come back to try the other sandwiches. Classic rolls were also solid, but given the limited number of classic rolls, would probably not return for sushi alone. Service (4.75/5): Our main server was very friendly and gave us a good overview of the menu as it was our first time. They were great and attentive. We were also served by a second server who dropped off our food and disappeared so quickly that we waited a while before they walked by again. When we finally got the chance to ask for soy sauce and sauce dishes, they grabbed the soy sauce from a nearby table and left before we could even get to asking for the sauce dishes. Nothing terrible, but we did feel a little awkward. Food (4/5): Sushi was both good and not good. Of the 3 rolls we ordered, the salmon avocado and tuna avocado were solid; the proportion of fish to rice was great and the fish quality was above average from your typical sushi restaurant. However, the Tigerlily was quite disappointing, especially at $22 for the roll. The roll was torched a bit too long, cooking the salmon almost all the way, but my main gripe was a mysterious creamy sauce that was drizzled on top. The roll ended up being way too heavy and the sauce overpowered the salmon and the little bit of ikura that was sprinkled on top. On the other hand, the chicken katsu sando was really excellent. Chicken was juicy, breading was light and crispy, and the fries were well-seasoned. My only suggestion for the kitchen is to slice the sandwich vertically instead of horizontally; you can see that the bread on half of the sandwich was mostly crust/air instead of the actual bread part. Ambiance (4/5): It's got an upscale, modern feel to it that would probably make a nice environment for a date night or catching up with friends over happy hour. I was there on a Tuesday evening, so it wasn't crowded. There was music playing but it wasn't too loud, so it was easy to have a conversation.
Beautiful place with a great selection of food and beverages. Absolutely loved the cocktails my friend and I got, and the Chicken Katsu Sando we got was a GREAT size for the price (it's definitely shareable). Host was very nice and server was friendly! Would definitely be back.
TigerLily claims to get daily overnight shipments of fish from Japan. Not sure if it's true but we really enjoyed our meals here! We started with the pork bao buns and the crab rangoon cheese sticks. The cheese sticks were actually pretty good! Same with the buns. The sushi roll was absolutely phenomenal. We also tried the hibachi which was good, but I would definitely order more sushi next time. Our server was also great and everything he suggested was very much enjoyed!
The establishment, service and food was amazing!! The decor was very inviting, even the bathroom was beautiful . The bartender was so friendly and patient. The flavors of each dish was delicious. I will be heading back asap! Lobster sandwich, and lobster are the dishes I tried.
Went for brunch and had the honey butter pancakes, they definitely lived up to the hype! Absolutely delicious. The drinks were strong, the service was friendly and attentive, and the overall experience was great.
TigerLily offers an extensive menu, featuring some excellent food. The service is friendly and professional, and the interior is spacious. The layout includes three bars: the main bar, the sushi bar, and the tiki bar. The crab rangoon cheese katsu sticks were as good as they sound. I was worried there wouldn't be much crab, but that wasn't the case. The lobster tail robata was easy to peel, and complemented well by its accompaniments. The pork belly robata was tender, while the tare added some sweetness. Of the two, I preferred the pork belly. I've had four of the six bao buns. The chicken had a char flavor, and the steak sauce added some welcome moisture. The filet was tender, with a bold but not overbearing garlic aioli. The pork belly was also tender, glazed with a sweet honey, and balanced by some savory pickles. The sausage had a nice snap, and the Fresno peppers gave it a bit of a kick. The filet and pork belly were my two favorites. The sushi is some of the best I've had locally. The shikotsu roll (wagyu and bone marrow) was incredibly rich and buttery. $36 may seem steep, but it's the most memorable sushi roll I've ever had. The toro (fatty tuna) to caviar was also very impressive, and had soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Here's how I rank the nigiri I've tried: 1. Tamago (omelette) 2. Madai (sea bream) 3. Aji (horse mackerel) 4. Shima Aji (striped jack) 5. Ikura (salmon roe) 6. Uni (sea urchin) Lastly, for dessert, I've had the key lime pie. It was remarkably fluffy and honestly one of the best slices I've had. Simply put, TigerLily blew me away. I can confidently say it's one of my favorite restaurants in the Metro Detroit area. I'll be back soon to try the brunch, noodle, and sandwich options.
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place is amazing!!!!!!! I've been wanting to come here for a few years and it was definitely worth the wait. I can see why this place is always busy. Reservations recommended. The Fried Brussels are delicious! The crab Rangoon cheese katsu sticks are really cool and interesting. Like thick mozzarella sticks but with crab Rangoon instead of mozzarella. The Shikotsu Roll is fantastic!!!!!!!! Mind blowing good! Wagyu, butter and miso bone marrow, avocado, shallots, garlic and more. The bone marrow is melted on top of the roll. The Sake Trio roll is really crunchy from the salmon skin and pikachu crunch. I also love the Tigerlily roll with salmon,cucumber, tempura shrimp, and eel sauce. Excellent, friendly, and attentive service. Cool, sleek, modern decor. Amazing experience! Can't wait to come back and try more things!
Overall, I thought TigerLily was a fine restaurant. The service was great. Our waitress was very attentive. The atmosphere was very classy and great for date night. We got the karaage chicken bites, which I forgot to take a photo of, but it was a great starter to share with the table. I really liked the hama-peno roll which was nice and fresh. Personally, I was not a fan of the chocolate passion fruit decadence. The chocolate torte was rich and delicious, but the yuzu creme had a weird flavor that I did not think matched the torte at all.
This is a great space! Light and airy, very comfortable for a group, or an intimate dinner. A waiter was very patient and very nice, he helped us with their selections, and didn't steer us wrong. We definitely enjoyed the spicy dragon roll, however the double trouble was a little rich. I don't necessarily know if I like the heavy sauce that was over the roll. The sriracha and the garlic both tasted good, it was just overpowering.
First timer but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The restaurant is bright, clean, and vibrant inside. Our server was Israel and he was so patient and friendly and Nate (I believe) brought my friend fruit since she couldn't share my salad with me. We started with the Wasabi Caesar which was one of the best Caesar salads I've had. So fresh! I was craving sushi though! I started with the Tigerlily roll and Israel said it was a good choice, and it really was! Delicious! I really enjoyed it. My friend got the Shrimp Tempura roll and liked it a lot, so we got one more to share! The service was outstanding, the food was amazing, and the drinks were good too! Can't wait to return!
The thing that strikes me the most about this restaurant is the quality of the ingredients they used. They used bluefin tuna extensively along with real crab. It's little changes like that that elevate the dish beyond other regular sushi offerings. It was so appreciated! We ordered the spicy tuna roll. It had the excellent tuna and then they put yum sauce on it. That was odd because it masked the beautiful taste of the bluefin tuna, and that made it a miss for me. If you order, do yourself a favor and tell them no sauce. The dragon roll had real snow crab inside and eel and avocado on top. This also had a crunchy topping that I would tell them to hold if I did it again. It didn't really add anything to the dish and it obscurred the taste of the tender eel a bit. Not until I broke open a piece to isolate the snow crab could I truly appreciate the delicate flavor. It got a little lost inside the vibrant roll. The red dragon roll was well balanced and exactly what I was expecting. The bluefin tuna could easily shine on top of this roll. And it did. It was rich and succulent. The tigerlilly roll was lovely and topped with salmon and roe. It says on the menu it was torched. Ours was not. It was perfect the way we got it though, so I wouldn't change anything. I also ordered eel sashimi and the avocado, asparagus and cucumber roll for something refreshing. We all shared the rolls as we had drinks at the bar. Our bartender was attentive, friendly, and brought the sushi along with serving us our drinks. The lychee martini was a hit. What an interesting and slightly tart flavor! It was a light-hearted and fun time and I would go back in a heartbeat .

While my group came here on a day where the kitchen was short a cook, this could have impacted the food. I ordered the Breakfast Platter with spam and fried rice - overall it was just okay. The fried rice came out and was not remotely hot and the spam was a bit burnt as you can see. The toast did not come with anything to put on it either which I thought was unusual there wasn't even jam to offer. As far as a drink, I ordered the bloody Maria... which will have you on your butt fair warning, but tasty. Our server was great and was upfront about the kitchen staffing and warned us that our food would not come out all at the same time (not a big deal for us). Hoping my experience was just a one time thing and my next visit back will be improved!
We were here for the brunch with a party of 4 and tried a lot of the menu. Everything was good, including the famous pancakes. The espresso martini was refined and delicious. Our server was so friendly and advised us wisely on the menu.

The service was perfect, very professional staff. The ambiance was warm and comfortable The food and menu have changed. They're riding the hibachi wave. The miso soup was bland and lukewarm. Previously you'd mix the soup at the table. I miss that. The sushi was decent. I didn't like my original drink and they made me something original. I might come back and try again to see if they have their mojo back. read more

Use to be sooo good but the quality has gone down for sushi. Rice was very mushy last time we got the nigiri tasting. Also too much rice to fish ratio. Their rolls are good but the sushi doesn't hit like it use to. I think they are driving more brunch and hot foods due to demographics in the area. Def miss the sushi chefs that use to run the sushi bar. I didn't mind paying a good amount here to get good quality sushi but now I don't think it's worth it. Overall 3.5 stars where it's at now. read more
10000/10.. TigerLily is one of my FAVORITE restaurants in Metro Detroit. First impression of the restaurant is the space and ambiance, which is stunning and super cool. Then the drinks, the lychee martini is perfect. All of the hand rolls are delicious, but the tuna avo is my favorite (on the happy hour menu!) The crab Rangoon cheese katsu sticks are the best thing I have ever had. It's a mix of crab Rangoon and a mozzarella stick... insane. The chicken bites and sauce are extremely delicious if you're looking for something different. And my favorite sushi rolls... the dragon roll and Chris p crunchy roll. Have to shout out our server, Dre, because she was absolutely wonderful. Made the experience even more amazing than it already was. read more

Had a nice dinner sitting at the bar before a show at the Magic Bag. They kindly got us in and out as we were in a bit of a time crunch. My Bulma mocktail was great, not just basic juice and soda -- it was something special and did have a bit of a kick with the jalapeno. This place gets busy to have a reservation if you can, if not they can try to seat you at one of the bars (a great alternative!) Solid choice for Japanese in Ferndale. I'd go again! read more

Five stars all day. Every roll coming out looked insane, and every bite was even better than the last, fresh, flavorful, and perfect. The service made everything easy, and the energy in the room was fun but still chill, the kind of place where you just want to sit back, relax, and enjoy every bite. read more
The restaurant itself was very clean and nice. We ordered a ramen and the coconut milk dumpling ramen. The noodles tasted really good but both of our broths were wayyy too salty. The tigerlilly sushi roll was absolutely amazing as well as the shishito peppers. The staff was very friendly and we got seated immediately on a Wednesday evening. For how expensive the ramen was and for the broth to be way too salty that's way I'm giving it a 3 star. read more
The more I think about our brunch and experience here, I am more and more disappointed. First, I do want to say the people that served us and that we dealt with were nothing but kind, helpful, and accommodating. I do not really fault the front of the house staff. We enjoyed our previous dinner here and trip to the Tiki bar. We wanted to bring the whole family for this very hyped up Hawaiian brunch. We do enjoy going to Hawaii and eating Hawaiian style food where we can find it, so we were super excited. This place put out a lot of promo on Instagram to come in for brunch. First, they did not seem to have any other type of juice than regular mixers, like orange juice. No POG juice, or any Hawaiian themed drinks. They also did not have an type of coffee other than house coffee, no Kona blend or coffee presses. No smoothies or acai bowls. They also were not set up at the bar to do much more than the listed brunch drinks, and were not even sure if they could do the mocktails. They were not sure if they had pineapple juice. We got the espresso martini, it was fine, we have tried them all over the metro area, not my favorite. I also had the white sangria, which was nothing special. We tried to get a Bellini, but we were told the bar was so backed up that there were four drinks ahead of mine, and it was at the end of our meal and we decided not to wait. I imagine they were probably understaffed since they had a full dining room but maybe only one bar tender? We ordered a lot of food, as we usually do, but a couple of us did not feel so great later in the evening, to be honest, the food was a little suspicious. My husband ordered the karage and pancakes, but it only came with one pancake even though the menu states pancakes, which insinuates more than one. I just looked and he was right, it said pancakes plural! He was assured it was a large portion but it was not and he was still hungry and ate my side of fried rice, which was also tiny and mediocre. One child and I got a side pancake with the lilikoi butter and it said it came with granola and pineapples. They only gave us the butter and cream but no granola or pineapples. When we asked for the sides they tasted like onions, like they cut the pineapple with the same knife as vegetables. The pancake was savory and one child was very disappointed because it did not taste very good. I got the spam sammy, which was okay. We also got the pulled pork bene with bao bun, and it was mostly onions and had random paper in it. That child was very upset. The other child also ordered fried rice with a runny egg, that was fully cooked and she was disappointed. We have traveled to many places and have eaten different versions of Hawaiian style pancakes with pineapple, and this was the most disappointing meal. We also felt like the staff was getting frustrated with us, even though we did not tell them about the egg, or the onion, only the paper in our food and the missing toppings we paid extra for. I guess I am most disappointed that when we come to places like this that are highly advertised on Instagram and Tik Tok or Youtube, that we pay out of pocked for all of the food. It seems to me, like this place is either paying the local "influencers" and/ or are comping their food and letting them order the entire menu to bring in customers. They also seem to be getting perfectly made to order food and that is not how it is presented to us. That is fine, my issue is that it is NOT stated on either page online that the food is complimentary or they are getting money to show their brunch or both, and that seems deceitful. Those are more like promos and not reviews. Be aware of what you see online. read more

One of the best brunches in Ferndale. Unfortunately it's few and far between these days. Good breakfast potatoes are hard to find. These are smokey and salted accordingly. I am not great with Asian seasonings so unsure which ones they use. The ham is sweet so the Benedict is a great mix of sweet, smokey, and savory. Definitely the best I've had. I love the pancakes here. There is something unique about them I can't put my finger on. The syrup is also really good. They're even good warmed up the next day. Bloody Mary is nothing special. I wish they'd do something unique like a wasabi or kimchi version. We've been here twice for just brunch. One of my favorite places. If they had a mimosa deal, it'd be perfect. read more

Tigerlily service and food is still great. I also love the ambiance but This time I went the fruit flies made me want to leave. That is gross to me. The biggest con really. I ordered the crab Rangoon sticks and a Paloma. Both were delicious but until they get the fruit fly situation together I will not be returning. read more
The atmosphere was very welcoming and surprisingly kid friendly. The service was impressive my son was given pancakes mere minutes after sitting down. And kids eat brunch free with an adult entree purchase!!! When you go in ask for Drea she's amazing!!! All the food was delicious especially the millionaire bacon. read more
We parked in the back on the street. It's a tiki situation back there that looks like it can be a vibe. Walking in, the decor is super cute. The sushi bar set up is super fly. The service was awesome. The wait was very patient and thorough with all of the questions that we had. Sushi was good. Drinks were great. I also had a steak skewer from the appetizer menu that was tasty. I will definitely be back to try more from the menu. read more

Heard good things about this place so I thought I'd check it out while I was in the area. I arrived in before the dinner rush so I was able to get seated right away. The place was spacious, elegant, and calming even when more customers arrived. My server was very helpful in giving recommendations considerate of my allergies. I went with the strawberry mint lemonade which was very flavorful and freshing. I was asked if I had a preference of flat or sparkling water which is the first time I heard that. Nice consideration though. They also had an option of real wasabi and to switch from regular to low sodium soy sauce. The sushi was so flavorful however that I never actually used the soy sauce. I stopped by Tigerlily to try their new brunch menu after seeing a lot of raving posts. The golden pancakes were a pass for me. I'm not sure why, but the pancakes were over salted. The actual batter and base tasted much more savory than I anticipated and the syrup did little to remedy that. I went for Happy Hour . I would have like some garlic sauce on the rice. It was similar to Benihana , but with the garlic taste. It is a little pricey and limited selection for Happy Hour. I suggest visiting when they have daily specials. It is nice ambiance and good place for a date. I will visit again and try the sushi. read more
