TigerLily offers an extensive menu, featuring some excellent food. The service is friendly and professional, and the interior is spacious. The layout includes three bars: the main bar, the sushi bar, and the tiki bar. The crab rangoon cheese katsu sticks were as good as they sound. I was worried there wouldn't be much crab, but that wasn't the case. The lobster tail robata was easy to peel, and complemented well by its accompaniments. The pork belly robata was tender, while the tare added some sweetness. Of the two, I preferred the pork belly. I've had four of the six bao buns. The chicken had a char flavor, and the steak sauce added some welcome moisture. The filet was tender, with a bold but not overbearing garlic aioli. The pork belly was also tender, glazed with a sweet honey, and balanced by some savory pickles. The sausage had a nice snap, and the Fresno peppers gave it a bit of a kick. The filet and pork belly were my two favorites. The sushi is some of the best I've had locally. The shikotsu roll (wagyu and bone marrow) was incredibly rich and buttery. $36 may seem steep, but it's the most memorable sushi roll I've ever had. The toro (fatty tuna) to caviar was also very impressive, and had soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Here's how I rank the nigiri I've tried: 1. Tamago (omelette) 2. Madai (sea bream) 3. Aji (horse mackerel) 4. Shima Aji (striped jack) 5. Ikura (salmon roe) 6. Uni (sea urchin) Lastly, for dessert, I've had the key lime pie. It was remarkably fluffy and honestly one of the best slices I've had. Simply put, TigerLily blew me away. I can confidently say it's one of my favorite restaurants in the Metro Detroit area. One of the best brunches in Ferndale. Unfortunately it's few and far between these days. Good breakfast potatoes are hard to find. These are smokey and salted accordingly. I am not great with Asian seasonings so unsure which ones they use. The ham is sweet so the Benedict is a great mix of sweet, smokey, and savory. Definitely the best I've had. I love the pancakes here. There is something unique about them I can't put my finger on. The syrup is also really good. They're even good warmed up the next day. Bloody Mary is nothing special. I wish they'd do something unique like a wasabi or kimchi version. We've been here twice for just brunch. One of my favorite places. If they had a mimosa deal, it'd be perfect. read more

Like thick mozzarella sticks but with crab Rangoon instead of mozzarella. The Shikotsu Roll is fantastic!!!!!!!! Mind blowing good! Wagyu, butter and miso bone marrow, avocado, shallots, garlic and more. The bone marrow is melted on top of the roll. The Sake Trio roll is really crunchy from the salmon skin and pikachu crunch. Use to be sooo good but the quality has gone down for sushi. Rice was very mushy last time we got the nigiri tasting. Also too much rice to fish ratio. Their rolls are good but the sushi doesn't hit like it use to. I think they are driving more brunch and hot foods due to demographics in the area. Def miss the sushi chefs that use to run the sushi bar. I didn't mind paying a good amount here to get good quality sushi but now I don't think it's worth it. 10000/10.. TigerLily is one of my FAVORITE restaurants in Metro Detroit. First impression of the restaurant is the space and ambiance, which is stunning and super cool. Then the drinks, the lychee martini is perfect. All of the hand rolls are delicious, but the tuna avo is my favorite (on the happy hour menu!) The crab Rangoon cheese katsu sticks are the best thing I have ever had. It's a mix of crab Rangoon and a mozzarella stick... insane. The chicken bites and sauce are extremely delicious if you're looking for something different. And my favorite sushi rolls... the dragon roll and Chris p crunchy roll. Strictly a brunch review! First time checking out brunch here and feels like the restaurant is still figuring some things out. While my group came here on a day where the kitchen was short a cook, this could have impacted the food. I ordered the Breakfast Platter with spam and fried rice - overall it was just okay. The fried rice came out and was not remotely hot and the spam was a bit burnt as you can see. The toast did not come with anything to put on it either which I thought was unusual there wasn't even jam to offer. As far as a drink, I ordered the bloody Maria... which will have you on your butt fair warning, but tasty. Our server was great and was upfront about the kitchen staffing and warned us that our food would not come out all at the same time (not a big deal for us). Just ate at Tiger Lilly. My wife has Celiac. We asked host, notified server, he checked with the kitchen, all assured us her meal would be gluten free. When they served it we asked if potato's were really gluten free. They checked one more time and turned out entire meal was not gluten free. She had taken a few bites of the entree. Valentine's Day review: great drinks, sushi and dessert, odd flow of service, food wasn't served hot, servers were very nice about everything and were working hard. So, of course it was packed on Valentine's Day, especially since it was a Saturday this year. I just love the vibe and ambiance here, which was really my top reason for choosing Tigerlily. We were seated quickly, but the rest of service was oddly timed and a bit awkward. We both ordered cocktails, which were very good, but were very slow to come out. We also ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer, the Tigerlily roll, and 2 of the chicken katsu entrees. The order of receiving things was pretty weird. The shrimp came out first, not hot, just warm, and after awhile, our cocktails finally arrived. I kind of wanted to enjoy my cocktail and apps first, but that didn't happen, as our entrees came out quickly after that, also lukewarm rather than hot. With fried items, this is kind of disappointing, but it did have good flavor as usual. Our sushi roll came out much later after that, which was very tasty, and I'd order it again, but apparently, the sushi counter was slammed. It really was yummy though - smoky, fresh and savory. Dessert, which was a flourless chocolate cake was excellent, served with this tangy creamy sauce; perfect. You can't go wrong with drinks, sushi and dessert here, that's for sure, but they really should work on the timing of things. Overall, a decent meal; I just feel like they should have been better prepared, as all tables seemed to be reservations, but there were definitely expedition issues. I do still love it here though, and will most likely return. C'est la vie, we'll go back to dinner out during the week. read more

The more I think about our brunch and experience here, I am more and more disappointed. First, I do want to say the people that served us and that we dealt with were nothing but kind, helpful, and accommodating. I do not really fault the front of the house staff. We enjoyed our previous dinner here and trip to the Tiki bar. We wanted to bring the whole family for this very hyped up Hawaiian brunch. We do enjoy going to Hawaii and eating Hawaiian style food where we can find it, so we were super excited. This place put out a lot of promo on Instagram to come in for brunch. First, they did not seem to have any other type of juice than regular mixers, like orange juice. No POG juice, or any Hawaiian themed drinks. They also did not have an type of coffee other than house coffee, no Kona blend or coffee presses. No smoothies or acai bowls. They also were not set up at the bar to do much more than the listed brunch drinks, and were not even sure if they could do the mocktails. They were not sure if they had pineapple juice. We got the espresso martini, it was fine, we have tried them all over the metro area, not my favorite. I also had the white sangria, which was nothing special. We tried to get a Bellini, but we were told the bar was so backed up that there were four drinks ahead of mine, and it was at the end of our meal and we decided not to wait. I imagine they were probably understaffed since they had a full dining room but maybe only one bar tender? We ordered a lot of food, as we usually do, but a couple of us did not feel so great later in the evening, to be honest, the food was a little suspicious. My husband ordered the karage and pancakes, but it only came with one pancake even though the menu states pancakes, which insinuates more than one. I just looked and he was right, it said pancakes plural! He was assured it was a large portion but it was not and he was still hungry and ate my side of fried rice, which was also tiny and mediocre. One child and I got a side pancake with the lilikoi butter and it said it came with granola and pineapples. They only gave us the butter and cream but no granola or pineapples. When we asked for the sides they tasted like onions, like they cut the pineapple with the same knife as vegetables. The pancake was savory and one child was very disappointed because it did not taste very good. I got the spam sammy, which was okay. We also got the pulled pork bene with bao bun, and it was mostly onions and had random paper in it. That child was very upset. The other child also ordered fried rice with a runny egg, that was fully cooked and she was disappointed. We have traveled to many places and have eaten different versions of Hawaiian style pancakes with pineapple, and this was the most disappointing meal. We also felt like the staff was getting frustrated with us, even though we did not tell them about the egg, or the onion, only the paper in our food and the missing toppings we paid extra for. I guess I am most disappointed that when we come to places like this that are highly advertised on Instagram and Tik Tok or Youtube, that we pay out of pocked for all of the food. It seems to me, like this place is either paying the local "influencers" and/ or are comping their food and letting them order the entire menu to bring in customers. They also seem to be getting perfectly made to order food and that is not how it is presented to us. That is fine, my issue is that it is NOT stated on either page online that the food is complimentary or they are getting money to show their brunch or both, and that seems deceitful. Those are more like promos and not reviews. Be aware of what you see online. read more

We parked in the back on the street. It's a tiki situation back there that looks like it can be a vibe. Walking in, the decor is super cute. The sushi bar set up is super fly. The service was awesome. The wait was very patient and thorough with all of the questions that we had. Sushi was good. Drinks were great. Heard good things about this place so I thought I'd check it out while I was in the area. I arrived in before the dinner rush so I was able to get seated right away. The place was spacious, elegant, and calming even when more customers arrived. My server was very helpful in giving recommendations considerate of my allergies. I went with the strawberry mint lemonade which was very flavorful and freshing. I was asked if I had a preference of flat or sparkling water which is the first time I heard that. Nice consideration though. They also had an option of real wasabi and to switch from regular to low sodium soy sauce. The sushi was so flavorful however that I never actually used the soy sauce. The actual batter and base tasted much more savory than I anticipated and the syrup did little to remedy that. I went for Happy Hour . I would have like some garlic sauce on the rice. It was similar to Benihana , but with the garlic taste. It is a little pricey and limited selection for Happy Hour. I suggest visiting when they have daily specials. It is nice ambiance and good place for a date. I will visit again and try the sushi. read more

Brunch Review: We went on a Saturday since their brunch is only available on the weekends. We'd seen their pancakes and wanted to give them a try! We had a reservation and after waiting for 20 minutes past our reservation time, the hostess walked us over to the bar and I was told that bar seating was all they had. When I asked why I couldn't get a table since we had a reservation, the hostess said that a reservation doesn't guarantee a table (never heard that from any restaurant), and that a table would be another 45 minute wait. I would've been fine with this if it weren't for how the hostess was treating us, as if we were an inconvenience. She was short, rude, and very unwelcoming. She ruined our experience from the beginning and definitely doesn't belong in this line of work with how she was treating guests. Once we were seated, our waiter was nice but it was clear he was new. He got one of my friend's orders wrong, forgot another friend's bacon order (never came out but it was on her bill), and did not check in with us while we were eating. It was a long wait for the food, but they were pretty busy. I ordered the yuzu blueberry custard pancakes. When they came out, we realized that they were topped with a ton of coconut flakes, which was not in the item name or description. This should be stated prior since that's a distinct flavor and guests may not want that since the description states blueberry and custard only. Though the presentation was beautiful, the pancakes were dense as opposed to light and fluffy and the coconut was so overwhelming it was difficult to taste anything else. For me, service is often the deciding factor of whether or not I want to visit a restaurant again, and based on this experience, I will not be returning. read more

I don't normally go to restaurants so close to their set closing time but things happened and we took a chance walking in 35 minutes before they closed. Everyone was super nice about it and did not rush us at all, just reminded us how much time we had before last call to the kitchen and what menu items were out of stock for the night. After we were seated we quickly figured out everything we wanted and put our drink, app, and main orders in at the same time with our server. We had come here 2 years ago when they first opened and noticed the menu was similar but had new items too. I was excited. First out was the otoro tartare roll with fried lotus root on top. Presentation was beautiful. Next out was the filet bao buns. They were really good with the sauce that came on it. When the kitchen runner had brought out the bao buns he mentioned that our pork belly bao buns were on the way out next and I asked our server about it. We ordered a pork belly robata (skewer) not the bao buns. She immediately checked with the kitchen and fixed it for us but then also went TWO STEPS further to give us an extra skewer and not charge us for the entire dish due to the mix up!! It was really appreciative given the fact that they were trying to get our orders out quickly and close up the kitchen at this point. When those skewers came out it looked so good because they were already falling off the stick from how tender they were. The glaze on top of it was delicious! Our last items came out which were 3 sushi rolls. One of these was the Taki roll. I was so surprised to see it I don't know why my mind didn't click that they would be rolled in Takis after seeing it written on the menu but I loved it! The sour spice notes from the chips enhanced the roll's flavor and wasn't too spicy at all. It was very interesting. Overall we had a good time and really appreciated the staff taking care of us so close to closing. As soon as we were done we thanked them and got out of there. I'm really looking forward to coming back again soon at a normal time to try more of their menu items! read more

Delicious. Hands down. We were first timers and ordered an insane amount of food (not pictured my husbands bbq brisket bowl and the crab Rangoon rolls) and we walked out FULL. I only ordered one piece of toro (as we just had sushi the night before) but the fatty deliciousness.. top notch. The edamame was cooked perfect, but the pork belly bao. Dear lord! I had an extremely disappointing birthday experience at Tigerlily. Despite having a reservation, we were seated at a dirty table and left waiting for nearly 20 minutes without menus. When a server finally approached, we were questioned about whether we had even checked in--despite already doing so. Service was consistently unfriendly, our drinks took about 45 minutes to arrive, and our appetizer contained a piece of plastic that my husband bit into. When we respectfully brought it to our server's attention, she responded dismissively, and the manager offered no apology or attempt to make things right. They told us it was a piece of fried garlic. Unbelievable. This is the first time we have ever tipped less than 25%. Between the indifferent service, lack of professionalism, and average food, this was easily one of the worst dining experiences we've had, and we're still baffled given the restaurant's high reviews. read more

I definitely recommend Tiger Lily for special occasion celebrations, self-care extravaganzas, girl's night out, and intimate date nights I celebrated my birthday there this week.  The ambience, the food and the recommendations and friendliness of the waitress made the visit so much more special. Everyone was well pleased.  We ordered several items on the menu and shared many of the dishes. Standouts for me were the rosè sake, the Tiger Lily roll, the wagu Shikotsu roll, and the lobster skewers.  I thought that other sushi rolls could've used a little more flavor, perhaps adding a hint of something to the rice. I love the esthetics. The dining area is very classy and chic while the bathroom is bright and fun. It gave business in the front and party in the back vibes. The waitress brought out a slice of passionfruit chocolate cake for my birthday. It was dark, rich, and decadent with bright orange kumquats and a sparkler. It was festive, fun and very delicious! TigerLily has an amazing variety of Asian fusion cuisine. I, and my family, gathered for a birthday brunch, and we were not disappointed. Try the pancakes. You're going to love how fluffy and tasty they are. As there were 13 of us we sampled a variety of dishes without complaint. I've had dinner here in the past, and that food was outstanding too! The waitstaff was amazing too. They kept checking in to make sure we had what we needed. The surrounding area open and airy, making for a perfect meal. We didn't have enough people to rent out the Tiki Room, but I snuck a peak. I'm guessing that would make a great place to party! Try it. You won't be disappointed. My hat is off to the Chef. Exceptional sushi experience. Had a whole array of items so I'll do my best to remember them all. Started with the gyoza which was fantastic. Had an Otoro nigiri with caviar which was very good, but the normal otoro without the caviar was even better. The chutoro was equally as good. The tuna and avocado roll was delightful with everything being extremely fresh. Had several eel rolls which were arguably my favorites of the night. Entered the night not being an eel guy. Beautiful spot with a great vibe, with a hidden speakeasy I have to check out one day. I was skeptical about "Brunch" at a sushi spot but I was surprisingly impressed lol. The Lobster Omelet and Firecracker Tacos were great! I did come back and try some of their regular menu items, checking out the Kani Roll and Ebi Chiri and it was just ok.
