The service was perfect, very professional staff. The ambiance was warm and comfortable The food and menu have changed. They're riding the hibachi wave. The miso soup was bland and lukewarm. Previously you'd mix the soup at the table. I miss that. The sushi was decent. I didn't like my original drink and they made me something original. I might come back and try again to see if they have their mojo back.
Beautiful place with a great selection of food and beverages. Absolutely loved the cocktails my friend and I got, and the Chicken Katsu Sando we got was a GREAT size for the price (it's definitely shareable). Host was very nice and server was friendly! Would definitely be back.
tl;dr chicken katsu sando was fantastic, would come back to try the other sandwiches. Classic rolls were also solid, but given the limited number of classic rolls, would probably not return for sushi alone. Service (4.75/5): Our main server was very friendly and gave us a good overview of the menu as it was our first time. They were great and attentive. We were also served by a second server who dropped off our food and disappeared so quickly that we waited a while before they walked by again. When we finally got the chance to ask for soy sauce and sauce dishes, they grabbed the soy sauce from a nearby table and left before we could even get to asking for the sauce dishes. Nothing terrible, but we did feel a little awkward. Food (4/5): Sushi was both good and not good. Of the 3 rolls we ordered, the salmon avocado and tuna avocado were solid; the proportion of fish to rice was great and the fish quality was above average from your typical sushi restaurant. However, the Tigerlily was quite disappointing, especially at $22 for the roll. The roll was torched a bit too long, cooking the salmon almost all the way, but my main gripe was a mysterious creamy sauce that was drizzled on top. The roll ended up being way too heavy and the sauce overpowered the salmon and the little bit of ikura that was sprinkled on top. On the other hand, the chicken katsu sando was really excellent. Chicken was juicy, breading was light and crispy, and the fries were well-seasoned. My only suggestion for the kitchen is to slice the sandwich vertically instead of horizontally; you can see that the bread on half of the sandwich was mostly crust/air instead of the actual bread part. Ambiance (4/5): It's got an upscale, modern feel to it that would probably make a nice environment for a date night or catching up with friends over happy hour. I was there on a Tuesday evening, so it wasn't crowded. There was music playing but it wasn't too loud, so it was easy to have a conversation.
TigerLily claims to get daily overnight shipments of fish from Japan. Not sure if it's true but we really enjoyed our meals here! We started with the pork bao buns and the crab rangoon cheese sticks. The cheese sticks were actually pretty good! Same with the buns. The sushi roll was absolutely phenomenal. We also tried the hibachi which was good, but I would definitely order more sushi next time. Our server was also great and everything he suggested was very much enjoyed!
The establishment, service and food was amazing!! The decor was very inviting, even the bathroom was beautiful . The bartender was so friendly and patient. The flavors of each dish was delicious. I will be heading back asap! Lobster sandwich, and lobster are the dishes I tried.
TigerLily offers an extensive menu, featuring some excellent food. The service is friendly and professional, and the interior is spacious. The layout includes three bars: the main bar, the sushi bar, and the tiki bar. The crab rangoon cheese katsu sticks were as good as they sound. I was worried there wouldn't be much crab, but that wasn't the case. The lobster tail robata was easy to peel, and complemented well by its accompaniments. The pork belly robata was tender, while the tare added some sweetness. Of the two, I preferred the pork belly. I've had four of the six bao buns. The chicken had a char flavor, and the steak sauce added some welcome moisture. The filet was tender, with a bold but not overbearing garlic aioli. The pork belly was also tender, glazed with a sweet honey, and balanced by some savory pickles. The sausage had a nice snap, and the Fresno peppers gave it a bit of a kick. The filet and pork belly were my two favorites. The sushi is some of the best I've had locally. The shikotsu roll (wagyu and bone marrow) was incredibly rich and buttery. $36 may seem steep, but it's the most memorable sushi roll I've ever had. The toro (fatty tuna) to caviar was also very impressive, and had soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Here's how I rank the nigiri I've tried: 1. Tamago (omelette) 2. Madai (sea bream) 3. Aji (horse mackerel) 4. Shima Aji (striped jack) 5. Ikura (salmon roe) 6. Uni (sea urchin) Lastly, for dessert, I've had the key lime pie. It was remarkably fluffy and honestly one of the best slices I've had. Simply put, TigerLily blew me away. I can confidently say it's one of my favorite restaurants in the Metro Detroit area. I'll be back soon to try the brunch, noodle, and sandwich options.
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place is amazing!!!!!!! I've been wanting to come here for a few years and it was definitely worth the wait. I can see why this place is always busy. Reservations recommended. The Fried Brussels are delicious! The crab Rangoon cheese katsu sticks are really cool and interesting. Like thick mozzarella sticks but with crab Rangoon instead of mozzarella. The Shikotsu Roll is fantastic!!!!!!!! Mind blowing good! Wagyu, butter and miso bone marrow, avocado, shallots, garlic and more. The bone marrow is melted on top of the roll. The Sake Trio roll is really crunchy from the salmon skin and pikachu crunch. I also love the Tigerlily roll with salmon,cucumber, tempura shrimp, and eel sauce. Excellent, friendly, and attentive service. Cool, sleek, modern decor. Amazing experience! Can't wait to come back and try more things!
Went for brunch and had the honey butter pancakes, they definitely lived up to the hype! Absolutely delicious. The drinks were strong, the service was friendly and attentive, and the overall experience was great.
This is a great space! Light and airy, very comfortable for a group, or an intimate dinner. A waiter was very patient and very nice, he helped us with their selections, and didn't steer us wrong. We definitely enjoyed the spicy dragon roll, however the double trouble was a little rich. I don't necessarily know if I like the heavy sauce that was over the roll. The sriracha and the garlic both tasted good, it was just overpowering.
The thing that strikes me the most about this restaurant is the quality of the ingredients they used. They used bluefin tuna extensively along with real crab. It's little changes like that that elevate the dish beyond other regular sushi offerings. It was so appreciated! We ordered the spicy tuna roll. It had the excellent tuna and then they put yum sauce on it. That was odd because it masked the beautiful taste of the bluefin tuna, and that made it a miss for me. If you order, do yourself a favor and tell them no sauce. The dragon roll had real snow crab inside and eel and avocado on top. This also had a crunchy topping that I would tell them to hold if I did it again. It didn't really add anything to the dish and it obscurred the taste of the tender eel a bit. Not until I broke open a piece to isolate the snow crab could I truly appreciate the delicate flavor. It got a little lost inside the vibrant roll. The red dragon roll was well balanced and exactly what I was expecting. The bluefin tuna could easily shine on top of this roll. And it did. It was rich and succulent. The tigerlilly roll was lovely and topped with salmon and roe. It says on the menu it was torched. Ours was not. It was perfect the way we got it though, so I wouldn't change anything. I also ordered eel sashimi and the avocado, asparagus and cucumber roll for something refreshing. We all shared the rolls as we had drinks at the bar. Our bartender was attentive, friendly, and brought the sushi along with serving us our drinks. The lychee martini was a hit. What an interesting and slightly tart flavor! It was a light-hearted and fun time and I would go back in a heartbeat .
First timer but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The restaurant is bright, clean, and vibrant inside. Our server was Israel and he was so patient and friendly and Nate (I believe) brought my friend fruit since she couldn't share my salad with me. We started with the Wasabi Caesar which was one of the best Caesar salads I've had. So fresh! I was craving sushi though! I started with the Tigerlily roll and Israel said it was a good choice, and it really was! Delicious! I really enjoyed it. My friend got the Shrimp Tempura roll and liked it a lot, so we got one more to share! The service was outstanding, the food was amazing, and the drinks were good too! Can't wait to return!
Strictly a brunch review! First time checking out brunch here and feels like the restaurant is still figuring some things out. While my group came here on a day where the kitchen was short a cook, this could have impacted the food. I ordered the Breakfast Platter with spam and fried rice - overall it was just okay. The fried rice came out and was not remotely hot and the spam was a bit burnt as you can see. The toast did not come with anything to put on it either which I thought was unusual there wasn't even jam to offer. As far as a drink, I ordered the bloody Maria... which will have you on your butt fair warning, but tasty. Our server was great and was upfront about the kitchen staffing and warned us that our food would not come out all at the same time (not a big deal for us). Hoping my experience was just a one time thing and my next visit back will be improved!
We were here for the brunch with a party of 4 and tried a lot of the menu. Everything was good, including the famous pancakes. The espresso martini was refined and delicious. Our server was so friendly and advised us wisely on the menu.

I don't normally go to restaurants so close to their set closing time but things happened and we took a chance walking in 35 minutes before they closed. Everyone was super nice about it and did not rush us at all, just reminded us how much time we had before last call to the kitchen and what menu items were out of stock for the night. After we were seated we quickly figured out everything we wanted and put our drink, app, and main orders in at the same time with our server. We had come here 2 years ago when they first opened and noticed the menu was similar but had new items too. I was excited. First out was the otoro tartare roll with fried lotus root on top. Presentation was beautiful. Next out was the filet bao buns. They were really good with the sauce that came on it. When the kitchen runner had brought out the bao buns he mentioned that our pork belly bao buns were on the way out next and I asked our server about it. We ordered a pork belly robata (skewer) not the bao buns. She immediately checked with the kitchen and fixed it for us but then also went TWO STEPS further to give us an extra skewer and not charge us for the entire dish due to the mix up!! It was really appreciative given the fact that they were trying to get our orders out quickly and close up the kitchen at this point. When those skewers came out it looked so good because they were already falling off the stick from how tender they were. The glaze on top of it was delicious! Our last items came out which were 3 sushi rolls. One of these was the Taki roll. I was so surprised to see it I don't know why my mind didn't click that they would be rolled in Takis after seeing it written on the menu but I loved it! The sour spice notes from the chips enhanced the roll's flavor and wasn't too spicy at all. It was very interesting. Overall we had a good time and really appreciated the staff taking care of us so close to closing. As soon as we were done we thanked them and got out of there. I'm really looking forward to coming back again soon at a normal time to try more of their menu items! read more

Delicious. Hands down. We were first timers and ordered an insane amount of food (not pictured my husbands bbq brisket bowl and the crab Rangoon rolls) and we walked out FULL. I only ordered one piece of toro (as we just had sushi the night before) but the fatty deliciousness.. top notch. The edamame was cooked perfect, but the pork belly bao. Dear lord! Soft pillows from heaven.. SO good! The udon noodles were a masterpiece, and the shrimp I had added just added to the perfection. Must try in the ferndale area! read more

Andre at Tigerlily is hands down the best server I have ever had. From the moment we sat down, he was warm, attentive, and genuinely cared about our experience. His knowledge of the menu was impressive and his recommendations were absolutely spot on. He has that rare balance of being friendly without hovering and attentive without rushing you. Drinks were always refilled, timing was perfect, and he somehow made the entire experience feel effortless. You can tell he truly loves what he does and it shows in every interaction. If you are lucky enough to get Andre, your meal will be exceptional. He is the kind of server that makes you want to come back again and again. I definitely recommend Tiger Lily for special occasion celebrations, self-care extravaganzas, girl's night out, and intimate date nights I celebrated my birthday there this week. The ambience, the food and the recommendations and friendliness of the waitress made the visit so much more special. Everyone was well pleased. We ordered several items on the menu and shared many of the dishes. Standouts for me were the rosè sake, the Tiger Lily roll, the wagu Shikotsu roll, and the lobster skewers. I thought that other sushi rolls could've used a little more flavor, perhaps adding a hint of something to the rice. I love the esthetics. The dining area is very classy and chic while the bathroom is bright and fun. It gave business in the front and party in the back vibes. The waitress brought out a slice of passionfruit chocolate cake for my birthday. It was dark, rich, and decadent with bright orange kumquats and a sparkler. It was festive, fun and very delicious! I am adding Tiger Lily to one of my favorite places to dine in the area. read more

Brunch Review: We went on a Saturday since their brunch is only available on the weekends. We'd seen their pancakes and wanted to give them a try! We had a reservation and after waiting for 20 minutes past our reservation time, the hostess walked us over to the bar and I was told that bar seating was all they had. When I asked why I couldn't get a table since we had a reservation, the hostess said that a reservation doesn't guarantee a table (never heard that from any restaurant), and that a table would be another 45 minute wait. I would've been fine with this if it weren't for how the hostess was treating us, as if we were an inconvenience. She was short, rude, and very unwelcoming. She ruined our experience from the beginning and definitely doesn't belong in this line of work with how she was treating guests. Once we were seated, our waiter was nice but it was clear he was new. He got one of my friend's orders wrong, forgot another friend's bacon order (never came out but it was on her bill), and did not check in with us while we were eating. It was a long wait for the food, but they were pretty busy. I ordered the yuzu blueberry custard pancakes. When they came out, we realized that they were topped with a ton of coconut flakes, which was not in the item name or description. This should be stated prior since that's a distinct flavor and guests may not want that since the description states blueberry and custard only. Though the presentation was beautiful, the pancakes were dense as opposed to light and fluffy and the coconut was so overwhelming it was difficult to taste anything else. For me, service is often the deciding factor of whether or not I want to visit a restaurant again, and based on this experience, I will not be returning. read more

I had the avocado toast and it was delicious. I hope that you all add some sushi to the brunch menu. the bartenders made me the best Mezcal Espresso Martini . Beautiful spot with a great vibe, with a hidden speakeasy I have to check out one day. I was skeptical about "Brunch" at a sushi spot but I was surprisingly impressed lol. The Lobster Omelet and Firecracker Tacos were great! I did come back and try some of their regular menu items, checking out the Kani Roll and Ebi Chiri and it was just ok. I would probably prefer/stick with a few of my other Sushi spots overall. 4 stars for the brunch and 3 stars for the regular menu. read more

We visited TigerLily for a second time (about a year in between visits), and it was still wonderful! We made our reservations at the last minute so the only reservation type available was at the sushi bar, but I actually loved dining there. It was cool to see the sushi being made right in front of us, and really added to the ambiance. We tried the egg drop soup which was phenomenal. Two items that were a repeated order from our last visit were the Chicken tsukune bao buns, and the Una-Kyu roll. This time we also tried the TigerLily roll, and the sake nigiri, which was sooooo good. Overall, very happy with this visit! read more

The food was very good. I love the udon nice and creamy with a lot of shrimp. We also had sake which complemented all the appetizers as well as the main course. The service was at the bar, which I don't mind at all . Our bartender was very attentive, and it was very fun to sit at the bar and watch the people come and go. Ambience was modern Japanese very beautiful lighting was perfect so many couples sitting around a great place to take someone on a date or just enjoy your friends in the booth. Food: 4 stars Service: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars + A stylish fusion restaurant. There are some dishes really deserve a 5 star rating, but some are a bit Americanized taste. If you are looking for a newer and stylish fusion eatery rival PF Chain, this is a place for you, and in my view, definitely better than PF Chain. This place is bit big and has both indoor and outdoor and private room choices, so it can cater to different needs. I will definitely come back again to check out more food. read more

I'm admittedly not a huge sushi person, but I liked this place way more than I thought I would! The decor is very modern/chic, maybe a bit generic outside of the mural on one wall if we're being honest, but good enough. That said, the food, drinks, and service were great. My wife and I shared the Japanese street corn, Negima skewers, Bao buns, and 2 sushi rolls, and everything was fantastic. I can't remember which cocktails we had, but those were great too. Our server was attentive and answered a lot of our questions regarding the menu. Overall, I was impressed and will definitely be back. read more
We went into this reservation not knowing that the menu excluded nigiri and sushimi on that Sunday (Father'a Day). This kind of put a damper on things as we had our minds set on trying a few, plus tempura shrimp and revisiting the tiger lily roll we enjoyed so much our first visit. Ebi Chiri - super good, so glad we tried it this time around. Spicy sauce is amazing tako - my bf loves octopus, he enjoyed it Tiger lily roll - cannot go wrong with it Una-Kyu - eel has won us o Matcha Tiramisu - awesome take on a classic espresso based dish. Really well executed and the combination of pistachio and matcha just flat out work amazing together. Solid sushi choice in the area. Just wish we would've known the limited menu availability. read more
Have been in here twice now and both visits have been excellent. Service is great, friendly, and helpful in selecting options. Interior is fun and can see the roll prep from most locations inside. The wagyu roll where they melt the bone marrow on top is truly fantastic. The street corn is super flavorful, and last time I went with the sesame chicken, which was excellent. This spot is great and has been a consistent winner in flavor. read more
This is my second time dining at Tigerlily. It is a super fun and modern place to enjoy sushi along with several Asian inspired warm dishes. Despite there being some slight changes in menu since their opening, I'm still impressed with their quality and variety of sushi offerings. My husband and I shared the chicken lettuce wraps to start. Super flavorful and plenty for 2 people to have 3 lettuce wraps. Then we went into a parade of sushi including rolls and nigiri. Needless to say, we got full quickly. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and creative. I especially loved the Shikotsu roll and the Toro to Caviar Nigiri. I also really appreciate that they don't drown their sushi rolls in mayo based sauces. While it was cool to have a front row seat to the sushi chefs, the pace felt a little slow. It too a while to get sushi after our apps and my chefs nigiri came out last when I was expecting it to come out earlier. read more

Had dinner at the bar, most of the time tables need a reservation. The ambiance is beautiful, dimly lit and well decorated. Options for vegans and omnivores and pescatarians alike. I really enjoyed the tempura roll. Bathroom is worth checking out, lots of anime and video game characters adorn the wall in a mural! read more
