I don't know about this place. It is very expensive and you are just paying for service and atmosphere. I think if you want good Japanese food just go to Novi or Troy, this ain't it. Yes they use good ingredients but the way they utilize it ruins the fish. Sushi has some sort of vegetable/leave in it, but the green is stronger than the fish and rice so I couldn't even taste the fish and sushi rice. I didn't drink alcohol and i wasn't sick so I am sure I couldn't taste any fish or rice. The only thing I like is the $15 nigiri, which has no veggies in it I think If you just want to chill and get some drinks and eat some appetizers then sure. Pleased to find this restaurant, what a lovely place. We came earlier than our reservation and that was not a problem for them to seat us early. Top-notch service and food. Very interesting indoor decor. I wish our table has more light sources. Not sure why the middle section was pretty dark. The waitress did an excellent job on explain the menu. We got the mocktail, nina tucker, an interesting mix of flavors of tropical fruits. The Shikotsu was a great experience to watch how they pour the hot butter on the sushi, and very tasty too with layers of different flavors and textures mixed. No seats inside, despite having a reservation. Shouldn't that be a basic question when you take a reservation, how did we know we would be relegated to sit outside when there are over 10+ tables inside empty. Nothing like smelling the smokers as they walk by on their patio. Expect to wait an hour or more for a seat on their patio. A group of 4 ahead of us at the hostess table came in without reservations and they were seated about an hour after us. Heather waited on us, she's nice enough. $4 charge for a carafe of mineral water. $2 for a small ramekin of the chili oil. I don't mind paying, but I like to be informed before finding it on my bill is all. Not as many food items to order than I had thought, small menu. More cocktail items than food for sure. Ordered aspara-goma, tomato salad, green beans, Shishito peppers, Shitake and chicken thigh, nami, Kani and a baby shitake rolls. May be a lot of food. The tomato salad was good, the grilled peaches at the daikon are yummy. The shitake and Shishito peppers were nicely grilled. The asparagus and the sesame seed hollandaise sauce. The karai tuna came out instead of our kani roll, a tad bit of a mix up. The nami roll looks good, then again sweet potato is yummy in a roll. It's tastes pretty good as well. The tempera shitake is not my favorite, too heavily breaded from the tempura batter for me. The kani roll is good, although it looks rather sloppy. The lemon aioli is good with it. I went to dinner at TigerLily in Ferndale. It's been open a little less than a month and it was a great experience. The servers that waited on us were so nice and knowledgeable. The food and sake was delicious. We got to sit at the sushi bar, so it was really fun watching the Sushi Chefs make the rolls. TigerLily has been added to my list of go-to's! I think the pork belly was my absolute favorite appetizer followed by the shrimp, and then the green beans coming in third. I enjoyed both rolls. We chose Tigerlily for a special birthday celebration because of a fantastic, past experience and, once again, it did not disappoint! Our server, Chrissy, was a huge part of our excellent experience. She is so personable, knowledgeable and skilled at what she does. We were thrilled to see she would be helping us again. The food was just as good as we remembered, as well. The tempura vegetable roll was standard nothing stood out except the lime ranch drizzle 6.5/10. The shrimp skewer was a simple cooked shrimp with a lime ranch sauce drizzle and a slice of lemon 7/10. The pork belly bao bun was standard both the pork belly and bao didn't stand out but still a solid dish 7/10. The matcha tiramisu was delicious. The plate was half powdered with matcha and the other side with crushed pistachio and toffee. The dessert was delicious 10/10 but unfortunately looks like the serving has been cut down more than half the serving size it was 6 months ago. Service was bad. The waitress decided to make a comment asking if that was all we were getting for the night after seeing us start with only one appetizer. She also forgot to serve the drink I ordered. As someone who is new to the area, I was excited to check out TigerLily at a co-worker's recommendation. Let me say, the appetizers and small plates were the stars of the show. The chicken bao and ebi chiri were phenomenal and I highly recommend. So savory and delicious! The sushi rolls were also very tasty, as was the cheesecake that we had at the end. The only con is that our last roll took an extra 30 min to come out. Almost all of our food came out at a steady pace, but it took a while for the last one. We kept inquiring about where our food was, and it eventually did, but it did damper the mood a bit. However, the assistant manager did come over to apologize and provided a complimentary dessert. Have eaten here a few times as a walk-in with bar seating, as table seating demands reservations a bit in advance. Quite the meeting spot for locals and can be a tad loud when full. Food is over the top excellent, chef's do a great job with ingredient selection, mash ups and seasonal rotations. Bar is well stocked and mixology is spot on. Food and Bar Staff are excellent, friendly and attentive, front desk not so much - asking at 5:30 if there is possibly an open table in a near empty restaurant and getting the "are you stupid or what?" attitude is unnecessary and off putting, especially with the $$$. My friends and I have been dying to try Tigerlily, and were SO disappointed. We made a reservation for 830pm, we stood around and waited for a table until 9pm when we were finally sat. Once sat, all the tables around us were greeted by their servers before our table. We waited about 15 minutes to be greeted by a server, when one of my friends, walked up to the hostess stand and let them know we haven't been greeted and given water. We then waited about 10 more minutes when we were finally greeted and given water. We explained the situation to our server and she was SUPER apologetic and bought us a round of shots (super nice). We ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees. Our server told us that the sushi we ordered may come out before the hot entrees we ordered, but she said it wouldn't be a super long difference. Our crab rangoons and first Tigerlily roll arrived about 10 minutes after ordering them and they were super good. Our 2 entree sushi rolls came out about 20 minutes after placing the order . The first of 3 entrees came about about 20 minutes after that, the 2nd entree came out about 10 minutes after the first and then the 3rd entree came out about 15 minutes after the 2nd. The food was average, nothing super special considering the price per entree. All in all, EXTREMELY disappointed in this establishment. I walked in shortly after opening. The smiles from staff never ended. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be at work. I was even given my choice of seats. I started off with a cocktail, called the death note, and if you enjoy whiskey cocktails, I highly recommend this beverage as per the menu I saw Yaki Udon. This is something that I don't see nearly often enough. And so I ordered it with the harami (beef). It exceed my expectations. The perfect spice and was amazingly satisfying and filling. The only regret is not having room to try some sushi. I suppose that means I will just need to return (multiple times) to sample such amazing cuisine. We waited damn near 1 hour for the tempura vegetables and brussel sprouts. I waited an additional 20 minutes for the udon noodles which I only ordered because they were out of the fried rice. Our server, who was very nice, told us three times that the food would be right out. This was not the case. I understand this was out of her control. This is a cute space. The ambience is super cute and definitely a nice spot to take pictures. The bathrooms are super colorful andI definitely a recommendation to check it out if you do find yourself at the restaurant. I know a weird recommendation but they are cool! Other than that I'm not sure if it was an off day. The sushi fell apart as soon as I touched it as you can see in my picture. Which means the rice wasn't wrapped properly and tight. I was excited to try the chicken bao but i would not get it again. The drinks weren't great. My friend didn't want to finish his I drank mine but it wasn't great. Excellent food and atmosphere. I came here on a Tuesday shortly after they opened and was seated immediately. The decorations and room layout made the restaurant feel quite classy. We took advantage of the happy hour and ordered the crab rangoons and chicken robata. The rangoons were fried beautifully and the filling was not too heavy. The chicken robata was also grilled well and was very juicy. the chutoro sashimi was fresh and felt on par to sushi from Japan! Between the TigerLily roll and the Sake Trio roll, I definitely preferred the TigerLily roll, but both were absolutely delicious. Lastly, the Yuzu Creme Brulee, with its crunchy caramelized surface contrasted with the perfectly tart custard inside, was the perfect end to a perfect meal! TigerLily is officially one of my favorite restaurants! My friend and I made reservations for a Friday night and were running a but late, but the hostess was so nice and accommodating. The waiter was really friendly and constantly checked on us. 5 star service! I got the RYU drink and my friend got the lychee seltzer. If you like really sweet drinks, you'll like RYU. My friend and I loved the seltzer. The mocktails sounded really good too! We ordered the Ebi chiri and it was SO GOOD!! Just be aware that it's pretty spicy. We also got the Negima and Buta Bara skewers. Both were really good and had a lot of flavor, make sure to squeeze the lemon on the chicken! We also got the tigerlily and mangekyou rolls. Everything was so filling. The tigerlily roll was my favorite, I really liked how all the flavors came together. The mangekyou was also really good and I loved the presentation, but the tigerlily was just lighter. I plan on trying the bone marrow roll next time! For dessert we ordered the Okinawa cheesecake and it was SOOO GOOD!!! Even if you're full, trust me, you'll want to make room for it. We wanted to come back for the brunch, but we couldn't get in until now. We had reservations for weeks (reservations are a must). The brunch didn't disappoint! My daughter & I had the Brunch Bennies. This place is amazing for multiple reasons. When you first arrive you can tell it's a very hip place and very packed. We waited 30 mins for reservations just to sit at the bar, that's how packed it is. The Ambience was a little noisy but it gets drowned out by how great the food and drinks were. I tried her drink and it was very organic, it was quite tasting but it made me think I was eating a flower, a little funny but delicious. My A5 Manhattan was pretty good, I have had better in Las Vegas but let's get serious, it's Las Vegas, it almost tasted like it had a hint of beef broth which was peculiar but very good. A little small but still good. As far as food we ordered Miso Soups, Tigerlily roll, Shikotsu Roll, Yakima Meshi Rice & Noodles, Gyoza. Everything was truly amazing, the Miso Soup was handcrafted and very delicious, I didn't like the mushrooms so I gave them to my wife, I'm just not a Mushroom fan, but the seaweed tasted so good to the point I didn't want to stop chewing it. The Gyoza was so good, it was quite chunky and had lots of meat. The sushi rolls were VERY delicious, they were so good you didn't need soy sauce at all and the Shikotsu Roll had Bone Marrow Butter melted on to it. Those were the best Sushi Rolls I have ever had. Next came out the Yakima Meshi Rice &Noodles, it had a poached egg on top which once u mixed it into the noodles was truly delicious, these noodles were on another level, they had spice for them but not as spicy as I like it but this was more for elegance than heat which were still VERY delicious. The waitress we had was the GREATEST waitress I have ever had anywhere at ANY restaurant, she was amazing, helpful, and she was just very pleasant to be around.
