This was a very strange experience. Came in and was seated immediately . Host person was friendly enough. Let him know i were waiting for one person. Waitress brought took my drink order, I placed it and let her know I was waiting for someone. She brings my water and asks how long the other person will be? Well it's only been two minutes since I said it!! Person arrives waitress places menus down ask if we are ready to order. I ask if the menu is different if you're doing all you can eat. She said this menu isn't all you can eat and then stands there. We mention your website and the sign out front state all you can eat. She still stands there silent. She finally says oh not on this menu and walks away. If you have multiple menus why are you not presenting that when we come in? She brings a new menu out and a set of rules. Menu is exact same just no pricing. Order comes out and she immediately asks if we are ready to place our next order. Since we haven't take a bite we say no. There is no ginger or wasabi so I track down someone to get it. The sushi we ordered was actually tasty. Fresh full of flavor and presented well. Maybe this server is new and just not comfortable in the role. It truly showed. We felt rushed, unwelcome and felt like server wasn't with us. This SERVER was the ultimate turn off and why we will not be back. read more

Service was good, we spent a long time browsing the menu and the server was really nice about it. The menu has pictures for the specialty rolls which is always good to have when deciding which rolls to get. They have a large selection of appetizers as well. The inside is styled after Japanese architecture and is very pleasant. However, front staff were not overly friendly but were polite. It's not very loud inside and the tables are decent size. However, we seemed to have gone on a night with big celebrations with an inadequately prepared staff. We participated in the all you can eat for $38.95 and I will say I was quite disappointed with the sushi quality and slow service. As someone who frequents all you can eat sushi places all over Florida, this was a bit of a let down. The raw sushi had a slight fishy taste to it and it took over 45 minutes for rolls to come to the table. Getting any type of side dish was a pain. Refills took 30 minutes or longer. Our waitress was split between two large parties and our table and we hardly saw her. It felt as if the business was not adequately staffed the night we went. Overall the all you can eat price is too expensive for the quality of service and food that was provided. Additionally they limit the amount of items you can order at a time. It would make sense if it didn't take forever for anything to come out of the kitchen. Overall it wasn't a great experience, was too expensive for the quality, and I wouldn't return. read more

We came here for the first time for our anniversary dinner. We were sat immediately around 5:30 at table 4, and then proceeded to not get waited on until 6pm. Which we had to initiate by asking for water. There were 5/6 other tables sat and two tables sat after us got service almost immediately. The girl we flagged down for water was incredibly nice and was quick acting on figuring out who our waiter was once we mentioned that we hadn't been served. It seemed that when she asked around no one knew who was supposed to serve us. She ended up becoming our waiter and was attentive and great! This is a nice dining experience without it feeling too stuffy. Everything is served beautifully. They offer all you can eat but the whole table has to get it, which we ended up doing. The teriyaki steak was a big hit my husband got more than one. The appetizers are kind of small plate style, I wish they offered that for some of the sushi rolls so you could try more different ones without worry that you might waste something. Wonderful and just more wonderful! This was a great spot. They have AYCE sushi, but I didn't do that. The mussels were really good and I enjoyed my steak from my hibachi plate. The yakisoba noodles were so good I really liked them. The soft shell crab was good, but I would have preferred a ponzu sauce instead or the sauce it came with. Just a personal preference. It's all you can eat. They have everything on their menu. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is even better! Stopped in on a Wednesday for lunch. The place was mostly empty despite it being the holiday season. The restaurant is cute and nicely decorated. The service was pretty great. The food was good too, but wasn't the freshest I've had in the area. The price was also pretty high as far as AYCE sushi goes for lunch. $39 per person for lunch is high for the area. Even in Chicago you can get a better and more fresh AYCE sushi experience for $10 less. I don't think any of us got our money's worth, but maybe we just don't have the right capacity. They do have a lot of options on the menu. Overall, I would probably go elsewhere for my sushi needs just because the pricing was of a very high end sushi restaurant and the sushi itself was good and had a lot of creative rolls, but the fish itself was not outstandingly fresh. read more

Aji Sushi just recently opened (March 2025), so I tempered my expectations going in. The space was previously occupied by Panera Bread. There is plenty of seating, so even during a rush, there shouldn't be much of a wait. The service was polite and efficient, and the pricing is on par with other high quality sushi restaurants. My dad and I started our meal with jalapeño poppers. These were fried perfectly, and had a very tolerable level of spice. As for our sushi order, we got the king of the ocean and Aji rolls. The king of the ocean is a "cooked roll" and included lobster, shrimp, and snow crab. The Aji roll was topped with black, green, red, yellow, and orange caviar and included equal parts of salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. Both rolls were top notch, but I appreciated the presentation of the Aji roll more. Lastly, we got some hibachi. Ours included steak, shrimp, fried rice, and a yum-yum sauce. In general, I find hibachi to be pretty basic, but I enjoyed this one. In the end, Aji Sushi exceeded my expectations. It's my understanding the menu will be expanding in the near future, and will potentially include liquor. read more

Great new sushi place at Maple and Coolidge in the old Panera location. Updated decor with a lot of nice touches and comfy seats or booths. They even still have the fireplace from when it was a Panera. Food was good: we got the miso soup, salmon and avocado roll, king of the ocean roll, aji roll, and a spicy tuna hand roll. They all tasted good, but weren't as fresh and crisp as noble fish which I think is the best in metro Detroit. I really dislike the hand rolls when it's diced up fish, I like to have it in chunks like sashimi and a little bit more heat in the spiciness - which this was unfortunately diced. Kids enjoyed the miso soup and salmon and avocado roll. The aji roll was very good and different with the colorful roe on top. Staff was very friendly and attentive. There were only a handful of tables occupied in a very large space but it's only been open a week or so. A nice addition to the area and glad something finally went into that space. We arrived around 6:15 on Friday and were told we would have a 20 minute wait. We ended up waiting for over an hour. There were tons of empty and dirty tables, which was weird as the lobby was full of people waiting. When we finally got sat we ordered our first round of sushi and some waters quickly. We then waited for 15 minutes without anything. The table behind us had waters and soup as this point and they were sat after us. A server came up with salad and a bunch of sashimi pieces, as I had ordered a salad I assumed they was mine--but told them the salmon wasn't for us. As we had been given no silverware I just sat and waited. I had a reusable fork in my purse, so I started using that. After about five minutes our server came over with plates and utensils. She also asked if we wanted to place our next order "while you wait". We do, and ask again for waters. After another 10 minutes our server dropped off about 1/2 of our order. Turns out the first salad wasn't really mine, as I now have a different one. Somehow after waiting almost forty minutes after ordering, the gyoza were lukewarm. Whatever. We were starving. The miso soup was unbelievably bland. It was basically inedible. The shrimp tempura was fine as were the vegetables. The sushi itself was okay, but some of the fish was almost watery as if it hadn't been thawed properly and changed the texture. The hibachi salmon was fine, the veggies were good, but the rice was off tasting--very greasy. We didn't receive any wasabi or ginger, and the hibachi meal came with no sauces other than some teriyaki on the fish. Overall, I might still come back at a less busy time. For AYCE, it really is a pretty good deal--especially if you're with a child under 4. I have no idea what their issue was tonight with service, but I hope they figure it out. For as much of a disaster it was, there seemed to be no management presence. The table next to us sat dirty and covered in dishes and uneaten for almost 40 minutes. read more

This is the second time we have picked up food from this place and both times have been a very positive experience. We've had the gyoza and fried rice both times and they have been quite tasty each time. I tried the Sunset roll on this visit and it was great. The last time we ordered, I got the King of the Ocean and it was delicious. The people we have interacted with have been very friendly and helpful. Ordered $65 worth in sushi for a pick up order and waited 1 hour and 10 mins past the time it was supposed to be ready. There were 5 sushi chefs working when I was waiting inside so not sure why they would not prioritize an order that was placed online. Went up to ask if the food would be ready soon and was promised the order would be ready in 5mins. I sat there for another 25 minutes waiting... nothing taken off the bill, nothing added for our time. If they would've been honest about the time I would've just cancelled my order instead of wasteing my time. Oh and then once i got my food it was not even as good as what i have gotten in the past from this place. Tiny sized rolls in comparision and the rice was warm, fish warm. From the moment we walked in we were pleasantly surprised by service, ambience & food. We had Spring Rolls, potstickers & Tempura Vegetables as apps. Every bite was delicious. Best spring roll I've had in long time. My son & I ordered Hibachi plates. Those came with miso soup; Crispy, Cold salad w/great ginger dressing served in an ice cold bowl; Fried rice that was fluffy, delicious & not salty; plentiful vegetables including onion, zucchini, broccoli, carrots & mushroom. I ordered the shrimp which was plentiful. (Maybe 10-12). Good seasonings too. Husband had sushi which was good too. We opted for the all-you-can-eat (which in hindsight was probably not a great choice for me, as I am not a huge eater) but it is a great deal if you are going to order more than 3 rolls and an appetizer. Sooo ordered the soft shell fried crab appetizer, do not get it. There was something moving, called the waiter and they top it with " fish flakes?" Which apparently move. Was disgusting. Quite a shock as it doesn't mention that on the menu. 2nd, the crab was literally in the shell and fried baby blue crab or something , not edible and complete mush. Edamame presentation decent but dry. Sushi, was eh.. think our waiter heard us wrong on one of them. I asked for garlic butter for the bland chicken fried rice she ordered (not in picture) and he brought garlic powder. After telling me they don't have it.. Anyways after the confusion he finally did bring garlic butter. I mean ya tried thank you for that part at least but come on I shouldn't have to repeat myself 10 times for 1 thing... Delicious! It's easy to park (in the Target strip mall on 15/Coolidge) and the food was fresh. It's the former Panera and the decor is similar. Staff was friendly and explained dishes to us but we're big Sushi fans and it didn't disappoint. Reasonably price and we had enough for 3 and took home the rest. Would go back again. read more

We got a menu for Aji Sushi put on our door, so we looked at it and the rolls and combos sounded great. We ordered that same night - the sushi for 2 which comes beautifully displayed and is a great amount of delicious sushi! We just ordered again tonight and again say we loved the sushi!!
