We tried this for the first time today and I was completely underwhelmed. We were a party of two and were seated right away. A server came over relatively quickly to take our drink order but then a few minutes later a different server came over to take our order as though this was his table so there appears to be a level of disorganization. And it took way longer than it should have to get our food given the restaurant was only half full. The waiter did stop by and apologize for the wait. I ordered the traditional breakfast and it says something when the best part of a breakfast is the toast (which was quite yummy). But the over easy eggs were undercooked so there was a lot of runny egg white. The breakfast potatoes were basically large boiled potato cubes that didn't spend nearly enough time in a frying pan with any butter or seasoning. They were the most lukewarm bland breakfast potatoes I have ever gotten in a restaurant. The bacon was overly greasy. My dining partner ordered the egg sandwich and seemed to really enjoy it but agreed that her breakfast potatoes were incredibly bland. I was looking forward to having another breakfast/lunch place in the area but given my experience I will not be back. For the price it was definitely not worth it. read more

Food very good but service is SLOW. Not enough servers to cover the whole restaurant during busy lunch time. Every table is full yet the servers all seem to be in the back. One table has been full of dirty dishes for 15 minutes with people waiting. Have been waiting for 35 minutes and still don't have our food. Place needs to be more organized and managed properly or it's going to fail fast. read more

Gateway in KoP location: We had about a 15 minute wait on a Sunday around noon, not bad. My husband ordered the chai latte pancakes and they were horrible... dry and flat (not fluffy). He choked them down because he's not one to complain, but I would have returned them. They were yuk. I got the elevated egg a sandwich and it was delicious, no complaints on that. Having been to the Clayton, MO location of First Watch I was excited to see them pop up on my Yelp in my new neighborhood, especially when my other favorite place had an hour wait. My mom, myself, and my two kids went for Sunday brunch. I called at 9:30 & they had no wait! Great! Not exactly. It's very nice inside, clean & beautiful atmosphere, & loud, which might be a detractor for some but for a mom with two kids, that helps drown out the noise. We were seated by a very abrupt & not all together happy man, but I figured he was just rushed because it was busy. The waitress was very kind, but evidently a little new at waitressing & overbooked. But still, no real issue. She put the carafe of coffee on the table & I was excited...until I wasn't. It was pretty old, clearly brewed hours before. I'm usually a four/five cup drinker but I barely finished two because it was kind of gross. Ok, well, the food still looked amazing. Each kid got a waffle, my mom got a blueberry pancake, & I got a pumpkin pancake, two scrambled eggs, & about six tiny breakfast potatoes. My first concern was cutting up my son's waffle--it was warm, at best. Still, looked good & crispy & he enjoyed it. My daughter's was the same. I thought naively maybe they let the kid's stuff cool before bringing it out. Not so, because my breakfast potatoes were just below room temp, as was mom's pancake. My pancake was fine, freshly made, but definitely a boxed mix. The eggs were scrambled eggs with a dusting of scallions, also not hot. Overall, nothing completely awful but also not a single good thing. I will just wait the hour next time at another place. Just about any other place. Unless I'm in Clayton--that location was the bomb. read more

This was our first visit to First Watch. The restaurant is casual and very loud. The food is good: I had the veggie omelette and my hubby had the Parma hash. My hubby's eggs were slightly overdone but overall a good item to order. My veggie omelette came with cheese so I had to send it back - that could have been my fault for not ordering it without cheese. I also had the Morning Meditation for my juice and I loved the earthy and less sweet taste (it has beet juice in it). Hubby had the orange juice which was good. Coffee is ok. Here's why it's not my usual 5 stars: table was wet when we were seated so I used on one napkin to dry the table. I asked for another napkin and was given another place setting - you need to have extra napkins especially since there are no place mats. One napkin for silverware and one for the lap. I had to ask for water twice before I actually got it. Placemats would be a welcome addition. Our server was nice but you can tell that the management and wait staff need some seasoning. I'm assuming there is a manager - but no one come over. We will definitely be back from time to time and hopefully we can get to 5 stars. Give it a try! read more

My wife and I have frequented the other first watches in the Delaware county area. We love the food and service! I have to say this one is on point just like the others! My wife and I have an on-going joke about breakfast and the service or lack of service that is provided. When we visit a new place one of us usually says something like "it's just breakfast, how bad can they screw it up"? Well let me say that our visit to First Watch in Wayne PA did not disappoint as they got a Royal Flush when it came to screwing up breakfast. My wife ordered 2 eggs over easy and she received 2 eggs which were over done and bordering on a fried egg. She asked for new eggs and they came back the same way but one had a broken yolk. I ordered a special which was supposed to have pulled pork with it but you could barely tell there was any pulled pork on the plate as they put it on so sparingly. I also had eggs with mine and they were supposed to be poached so you can cut open the egg and allow the yolk to run over the pork, salsa and avocado but the eggs were done to a medium so when you cut into the egg you had a yellow ball of yolk that you could use as a bouncing ball or allow to run into the floor. The potatoes they served had a sour/raunchy taste like they soaked them in old grease or something. Then to top it off the meals were not even hot even though we sat there for an extended period of time. We mentioned the poor quality of the food to our server and at most restaurants the manager will stop by but no one came over to our table except the waitress with our bill and a $20 gift card for our next visit (which I had no intention of using any time soon). I also mentioned that for the price of $32 for breakfast they need to do something about their cooks and she agreed which leads me to believe they are aware of the situation but not doing anything about it. Upon leaving the cashier asked how breakfast was and I did not hold back and simply replied horrible after all it is breakfast and how bad can someone screw it up! The individual tried to cover the cost of the breakfast but I insisted that he take the $20 gift card and the $12 as we did eat and probably would not be back anytime soon. Then to top it off I left my Arnette sunglasses on the table and when I called back I received their voice mail. I left a message for someone to contact me and I am yet to receive a call back. Poor food, poor service, poor management and poor communication. Now ask yourself this, it's just breakfast so how bad can someone screw it up? read more

I've been to at least 8 First Watch locations in 4 different states over the past 4 years. The Wayne Pa location is, by far, the most understaffed and generally poorly managed. Once ordered, the wait for food is ridiculous - over 30 minutes. On this visit, 2 out of 3 meals were delivered and one of those had clearly been sitting a while. The third order came 5 minutes later after asking the hostess and then the waitress to check on it. The hostess made no effort other than signaling our waitress. This was our second time at this location. Not sure there will be a third. read more

Incredible food but very disorganized FOH. I work in restaurants and watched the host & hostess really scramble - diners were waiting to be seated with tables available but in need of bussing. I couldn't determine who the floor manager was. And it is unfortunate because the food was tremendous - made from simple and delicious ingredients. I say this really genuinely - there were turnovers lost. Someone trained needs to help get this location up and running. read more

We went there because several of our friends said they loved it. I have no idea why. I think it is overpriced and nothing special even the bacon everyone is raving about is ok. You get very little food for the price. If you want good breakfast go to Nudy's Cafe in Wayne. It costs less and the food is amazing and big portions. read more

Recently, I stopped into this restaurant to have brunch with my husband and daughter. The atmosphere was relaxed, the food was excellent, and it was immaculately clean! Above all, the staff showed a genuine concern for my baby's safety when I parked her stroller in a high traffic area (something I didn't even think of on my own). I was appreciative of their professionalism and care. They were all so sweet with my daughter and I was SO grateful, as it can be stressful dining with an infant. They made sure this new mama's dining experience was a success! My husband and I especially enjoyed the fresh juice, chickichanga and the million dollar bacon. I highly recommend it and can't wait to return to such a delightful, family friendly place. read more

My friend and I decided to get breakfast at First Watch this morning and I was VERY unhappy with our experience. We got there, expecting a wait, and were quoted about 15 minutes for a table of two. After 30 minutes of waiting for a table, I had asked the host how much longer she thought it would be. Her response was "soon." After waiting another 15 minutes a server approached the host and told her to seat us at one of her open tables and we were finally sat. After about 10 minutes at our table our server put a pitcher of water on our table, and told us she would be back. She never greeted us. About 15 minutes later she came up to us, after going to all of her other tables first and was ready to take our entire order. My friend and I each ordered a drink and our food. She completely ignored our drink order for about 15-20 minutes while she was stirring up conversation with the table behind us. We eventually received our drinks and our food shortly after. When we got our food we had no napkins or silverware. The "toast" on my avocado toast was barely toasted and my friends potatoes were completely undercooked. After bringing us silverware our server completely disappeared from our table. She frequently checked in with her other tables but never came to see if we needed any refills or asked us how we were doing. After waiting about 30-45 minutes for our check we were finally able to leave. As somebody who works in a restaurant I completely understand that things don't always go as planned and that it is an extremely overwhelming job and easy to make mistakes and I am always one to give restaurant workers the benefit of the doubt but my friend and I were flat out ignored by the host and our server and I feel it was extremely unprofessional. I have had good experiences at other First Watch locations but after today I will not be returning to this specific First Watch. read more

Oof where do I begin. We walked in on a Sunday morning around 10:30am. It wasn't busy. We were abruptly greeted by Gina (I believe that's her name. She talked so fast so that's the best I could gather) We we're seated for about 5 minutes and she came over in a rush asking us what we wanted. We ordered drinks and asked if she could come back to get our food order. When she finally came back we started to order. I asked for biscuits and gravy. Before I could finish my sentence she cut me off and said "DON'T HAVE IT." Ohh okay? "Sorry we don't have that today ma'am", would've been less abrasive. We got our food in a timely manner but NO ONE asked how our food was and if we would like refills. No one even bothered to check on us. My food was decent but my husbands was cold. When we finished we just walked up the counter to pay. Honestly, we could've just left and no one would've noticed. I'm an honest person and wouldn't do that. There is some serious issues at this establishment that need to be addressed. Delegating tasks is one of them. We will never return here. Please slow down and maybe act like you care about customers? Have been to the this location about half a dozen times. Love their honey mustard chicken salad and ordered that almost every time. The last time I went the chicken was mushy, I'm not sure how they do that. There was way too much honey mustard dressing on it. Today when I went, they were busy, not that that's an excuse. The waiter was somewhere else, maybe hung over from last night?My husband had the avocado toast and that was OK not great. What I ordered was not well done as I asked, The toast was cold and once again the waiter was nowhere to be found. We had to flag down another waitress to get drink refills and our check. I hope to go back, but I probably won't tolerate this kind of service or food. read more

This was our third time giving this location a chance. It has been open for several months now so the kinks should be worked out. The seating seems to always be an issue. The wait time quoted is much lower than the actual time that it takes to be seated. We were quoted about 28 minutes, but the wait was about 45 minutes. We ordered as soon as we were seated. Shortly after ordering the waiter came to tell us that there was a back up in the kitchen. Shortly after that, the people next to us complained to the waiter that they had been waiting for their food for an hour. We waited for our food for approximately an hour. When our food came out, it was not prepared as ordered. My husband ordered poached eggs that came out over hard. My son ordered eggs over easy that came out over hard. He did not eat anything. I feel bad for the wait staff because none of these issues are in their control. Once we were done eating, the waiter gave us the check and informed us that you pay at the front cashier. To add to the horrible experience, it was a 15 minute wait to pay!!!!!! Three strikes and unfortunately this restaurant is OUT! I cannot recommend more fervently that you go anywhere else. They do not seem capable of getting it together. read more

I'm really torn since the food was good, fresh, and servings ample. But the front of house operation was a nightmare. The young man seating was also taking care of the register and beyond being overwhelmed. The wait staff was equally disorganized as was the kitchen crew (on full display to diners). We waited 45 minutes for our lunch in an extremely noisy and chaotic setting. So much potential but really needs work. We generally avoid the Gateway Shopping Center because the parking lot is a freaking mess and has been for years. I wish these folks luck and hope they succeed but get your act together folks. read more

Came here a month ago, during the week, and the food was great! Today is a Sunday and I told my husband I wanted him to try it, and we waited about 30 minutes, totally understand on a Sunday. The wait staff was wonderful, however the food was inedible! I ordered the same thing I had last month which was the eggs Benedict with spinach, tomato and avocado. The food was cold, the eggs really runny, tomatoes and avocados hard as rocks and needless to say, I did not eat my brunch. Manager never came over, they just took my order off the bill and never asked if I wanted anything else. I am totally done with this place. read more
