So my family and I get to first watch at around 11:00. I go in and put my name on the list and waited outside for 25 minutes which wasn't bad at all. When we walked in it seemed busy but not too busy. The people who went in 20 minutes before us had their food at the table and were eating. We ordered the second we sat down. We were given coffee and water and waited. We waited and waited. We drank all the coffee and waited longer. We had to ask a different server for cream and coffee. We waited and waited. After 45 minutes we thought to ourselves "how hard is it to crack some eggs, cook some bacon, and toast some bread" we got up and left. First watch is very good but this was by far our worst experience with service and wait time. read more

Bad service, very slow, took over 15 minutes to make me one pancake. Had many wrong orders several times I came, dirty appliances on numerous visits. Had to ask for plastic utensils to eat with because the forks had food grit in between the teeth and the spoons weren't much cleaner. Disrespectful staff, my brother and I were told to try somewhere else since I complained about an order which came out wrong and not to mention my bros plate had purple food stains on it when there was nothing purple in his meal. I don't think the staff should take things personal as I only want what I pay for which is good (not the best) quality food and decent, respectable service. Look. I am a breakfast hound. I train for powerlifting and martial arts, so I try to start my days right. I have been going to The Good Egg for years. The menu was a bit complex, but the food was good, properly proportioned and a solid value. The servers--WITHOUT EXCEPTION--were attentive, friendly and fast. I had my usual orders with some of the delicious flavored iced teas. I never left hungry or disappointed. Then the owners pumped a bunch of money into a new interior, new menu and a new name: The First Watch. I have no idea what the new name means, given that the decor is some fusion of urban/farm stuff. Needless to say, I was skeptical. My concerns were quickly allayed. The menu is simpler with fresher ingredients. The food is AWESOME. My new favorites are the quinoa power bowl (with an extra egg) and the chorizo/avocado omelet with artisan toast. The fresh preserves are a bonus. The servers remain excellent. That has not changed. If you want a great breakfast or a healthy lunch, you'd best be steppin' to The First Watch. You will not be disappointed. read more

Mom's been telling me how good this place is, and let me tell YOU, it is. My Mom is the Queen of Brunch. I was going to use the new waitlist feature but it turns out we didn't need it, having just missed a big brunch crowd (we were told). The crowd also apparently drank up all the orange juice and one type of smoothie, but fortunately there were still eggs, bread, veggies and salad. My breakfast was wonderful! I ordered the Morning Market Veg which is an omelet crammed full of mushrooms, roasted zucchini, shallots, broccoli, tomatoes, goat cheese and herbs. Amazingly, the veggies were all done just right, not righteously crunchy but tender and tasty. The thick slices of whole grain bread were yummy but I wish I'd remembered to order them dry. There was no shortage of butter on them. A side salad, lightly dressed, completed the meal. Great coffee in a carafe = happy me. Very friendly and attentive service, great atmosphere. It was difficult to decide what to order, so I guess I'll have to come back and try some more. Those smoothies look very tempting. read more

The decor was chickens and other farm type themed items that made you feel all "warm and fuzzy" the new look of the first watch cafe is cold, Metallic, and feels like the office of breakfast restaurants. Maybe the new feel inside biased my palate but I didn't particularly care for the food or new menu much either. I came here pretty excited because I've been to a first watch before and I was happy to see the chain coming to Tucson. The food was just as good as any other first watch. There's a good variety of things and a good selection. I've had the eggs Benedict and the Belgium waffle here before. The waffle is nice and crunchy on this inside but fluffy on the inside with just a hint of sweetness. So it's safe to say the food was not the issue. My issue was with the server. It seemed like he was poorly trained and when we asked for things like water and hot sauce his response was "oh, they didn't get that for you?". I'm not sure who "they" are but that is not an appropriate response. I also heard another server say that to a different table as well and I think this makes the restaurant look bad that their servers do not feel responsible for their own tables. We were also told at the hostess stand that it would be a 15 min wait and we ended up waiting for 45 mins. When we asked what happened, their respond was "oh it just got really busy". In my experience it is better to over estimate time than underestimate by 30 mins. read more

The menu terminology is spectacular but the food falls flat. I ordered a chorizo and cheese omelette. The chorizo portion was so light and bland that I could not detect it presence in my omelette. Everything here is "fluffed" with air (including the gushing language in the menu. The omelette was so fluffed it had the texture of a moist sponge. Flavorless. In short this place is more about hype than the actual food. By the way they told me the name of the chicken that my fluffy scrambled eggs came from was named Oscar.
