We finally got around to trying First Watch after hearing good things, and I now think, what took us so long? The decor gives me Anna's House vibes with the placement of mirrors and home goods decorating the walls but with a more clean post modern flair. I liked the set up. I am not sure about pre-pandemic, but now there is inside and outside seating. I hear they get a long line and you may join the line virtually. Luckily there was not much of a line for us, which was surprising. It was a Monday, but the day after July 4th is still a holiday for many people. We were able to get right in and get a nice window seat. I was excited to find out this location served cocktails. it is really the perfect brunch place. I got the mimosa which is my brunch drink of choice. it was delicious. Fresh squeezed orange juice and a small bottle of California sparkling rose. They also have a bloody Mary and a pomegranate sunrise that sound really good. If you do not like the over 21 libation, they have scrumptious sounding juice combinations I would also like to try. I also had their coffee. It was nice and fresh and bold. They serve it in a carafe for the table. They also sell their coffee at the front. I would totally buy it next time we visit. They also give you water in a carafe for the table as well. A very sweet setup. Like Anna's, they had plain creamer plus the flavored variety in vanilla and hazelnut. We have been lucking out with good coffee experiences. We tried the trifecta plate with a granola and banana pancake, scrambled eggs, and chicken sausage round, plus sugar free syrup and peanut butter. I had the granola and banana pancake with chocolate chips added and the regular syrup. It was incredible! Very worth it! They state on the menu that the pancakes are very big, and they weren't kidding. I could not finish one. I also tried the cheesy grits. Best grits I have had in a very long time. So cheesy and rich. I also could not finish those. Last, we tried the club sandwich and oven roasted potatoes. That club is so good, it is rising toward the top of the best clubs in the area. It was a thick sandwich and all of the components were sliced thin. The bacon and avocado really make the meal. In the future I would love to see how the carrot cake and pecan pancake tastes. I also like the way they do not mind if you mix and match the parts of the meal and allow for substitutions. For instance, the sandwich says soup or salad, but you can do the potatoes. Or the trifecta has many meat options, and you can do toast, pancake, or waffle for the carb. They also sell their granola up front with the coffee, something to consider for next time since the granola pancake was so tasty. read more

Not a pleasant first time experience. I called to place a carry out order on Monday around 11:40am for a salad and the Tri Athlete omelette. I ordered salad dressing on the side for the salad and subbed breakfast potatoes for fruit and gluten free toast for the Omelette entree. I checked the bag in the car before leaving and it was incorrect. The salad was mixed with the dressing. It was dressed with a honey mustard dressing and I asked for no dressing. Chipotle dressing on the side. I went back inside and told the employee about the mistake. She said, ok have a seat and it should only take about 5 minutes. After 10 minutes she came back and asked if I wanted a water while waiting. I said yes that would be nice. 5 minutes later she returned with the water. Salad still wasn't ready. Finally after 20 minutes my undressed salad was ready to go and I received an apology. By this time my omelet was cold and toast was soggy. When I got home to eat, the order was still incorrect! They gave me honey mustard salad dressing on the side instead of the Chipotle. As for the omelette, it was supposed to come with Pico De Gallo which was missing. The potatoes were not cooked all the way through and were raw inside. Yuck. I had to throw away the potatoes and the toast that was soggy. What a waste of money. Not impressed with this place due to all the mistakes and long waiting time. Definitely will not be returning here again at least for carry out. read more

Disappointed that the avocado toast tasted like it had packaged avocado. The avocado toast is the main reason I go to first watch, and it wasn't the same this past visit. Maybe they were out of avocados and substituted the packaged stuff? It just wasn't good. I might give it another try, I don't know. read more

We found most of the food exceptional, especially the filets, They were cooked exactly how we ordered them and delicious. Our only disappointment with the food was the mashed potatoes; they reminded us of instant, but we are sure they weren't. We'll order a different side next time. The service was great and we enjoyed the high ceiling and open atmosphere. The bar has a more casual vibe to it which sometimes we prefer over the more formal dining experience. I would recommend the main dining room or the bar. read more

We used to come here every week with our daughter after church. It's good food and they have an allergen menu online, so it's easy to work with our daughter's dairy allergy. I don't know what's going on at this location (kitchen short staffed? no manager?) but the last two weeks have been absolutely terrible. Last week was just a long wait, no big deal, it happens. Today: everyone's food took forever. My wife's came out 10 minutes before mine and my daughter's. The server kept us informed throughout (waiting on X, someone picked up our daughter's eggs on another order), but then our daughter's eggs were cold when we got it. Doesn't make a ton of sense if they were waiting on her eggs. It's amazing at 15 months old we managed to fend off the meltdown...it was far, far too long to ask a kid to sit in a high chair. Thank God for snacks and toys. At the first signal things were taking a long time our server mentioned they had been hit by a big wave of online orders. Ok, whatever. When we went to leave, 10+ people were standing around waiting and there were a ton of empty tables. I heard a hostess say they weren't being allowed to seat anyone for a few minutes. Presumably this was to serve the backlog of people waiting at tables or dealing with more online orders? Who knows. The waitstaff here is all awesome - case in point everyone's drinks and our daughter's food was taken off the bill. But we simply won't be returning any time soon. read more

Stopped for a quick breakfast after hubby's surgery. The biscuits and gravy were tasty with just a hint of spice. The potatoes are just this side of Heaven for this southern girl. Our service was pretty quick and friendly, and the coffee was great too. We will visit again soon when we aren't so rushed to try more. read more

I travel all over the country and like to eat at First Watch if they have this chain in the state that I'm in. Breakfast at this location was some of the best I've had from a First Watch. And, the service was absolutely top notch! Will return again! read more

I am a fan but I will not be ordering the meal I got on my first visit. I planned to get french toast. The waitress told me to get a combo that would give me french toast along with eggs and 2 pieces of bacon. The portion was very small. I'm talking about one piece of french toast, one scrambled egg and 2 pieces of bacon. I would have preferred to just get a full order of the french toast as I planned. After re reading the menu, I noticed that the combo was supposed to come with a belgian waffle or a large pancake. Both of these were significantly more than one piece of toast. This restaurant is super cute inside and the food was good. There are just better menu options than that combo with the french toast. read more

First Watch - Combo. Don't recommend the French toast. Would be better with the Belgian waffle or the pancake. - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Troy, Michigan

I came here for lunch out of curiosity. I ordered the half roast beef sandwich and half superfood kale salad. It was so good. The roast beef and havarti came on toasted cheese bread and was served with some horseradish -- a very rare condiment to serve it with, and it was really perfect. The salad had cranberries and a bit of chicken on it. It was just a really good combination. Definitely give it a try. read more

The food is always good and tasty. Our server as spot on and really good. However, my beef with this place is that it's dirty and the bathrooms were disgusting. I politely let the manager know and he was incredibly rude. He made a million excuses and the fact that he got defense is all I need to know. Will not return which is a shame cause I like the food. I know that restaurants get busy but if you are unwilling to entertain feedback from customers than it's not where I want to spend my money. read more

Food was amazing. Sat at the community table for quick seating. Our waitress Angie was amazing.

I've been to this location twice and the food and service are on point. The restaurant is also clean. Abundant parking is available.

Liz was awesome! This place is a really cute for brunch/ lunch. I found that it was really busy when I have made attempts before and lo & behold, they have a First Watch App where you can sign in and review their menu-- really convenient! Our wait time was like 3 minutes. Everything was sanitized (as it should be) and social distancing was pretty nice. They also have outdoor seating & the inside was nice and bright. My mom asked Liz to bring a cup of whipped cream (weirdo!) and she did! Liz booked it up and we hooked her up with a tip. My mom loved the Belgium waffle and I loved my Market Skillet Hash meal. I ordered it with medium eggs and they came hard. Liz was quick to make the correction. We also had their Honey Donuts with chocolate and raspberry dipping sauce and that was really good-- my mom preferred the syrup left over from her waffle. read more

First time here at this location. They have the freshest orange juice. I ordered blueberry pancake, bacon and cup of fruit. Everything was very delicious! 2.5 Stars. Long wait for reasonable brunch. Finally got around to trying this chain after seeing them pop up on my area. It was about a 45 minute wait, when were told 25 minutes. They looked pretty understaffed, so can't fault them too hard. The food we got was good, but nothing that would make me want to come back and wait for again. read more

There were several locations of this place here in Michigan and I went to the one in Somerset for brunch with few friends. The restaurant was packed, which is completely understandable as it was Sunday. However, I think they accomodate online booking. My friends already got us a table so I didn't know how bad was the wait time. Service was great! The staff who attended to our table was very prompt, swift, and kind. Props to her! I ordered cinnamon chocolate chip pancake with apple sage sausage and 2 eggs cooked as sunnyside up because it was a seasonal menu at the time. Food presentation leans more towards rustic than fancy, which I don't mind at all. Portion was okay. The eggs and sausage are good but nothing special. I mean both supposed to be standard. The pancake was good. It's fluffy with some crispy edges. The chocolate chip gave a nice texture. I guess I like the fact it wasn't overly sweet. For the price I think it was okay both in quality and quantity read more

We've been coming here regularly since they opened. We like this location because it's less crowded and feels more cozy. Food is unbeatable, very gourmet. Best pancakes in town and I usually don't even like pancakes. Service is great as well, Ryan is pretty awesome. Also one time I forgot my bag and they went all the way to the parking lot looking for me and they save it to the next day. Highly recommend. read more

Disappointed in this location. The one in Royal Oak is great, but this one is not at the same level. I hate to write bad reviews, but after 3 bad experiences I have to. First Visit: I took my mom and two kids. It took an unusually long time to get our food, and when it did come, I got my food 2 minutes before my mom and 5 year old. Then we had to wait an additional 5 minutes for the food for my 2 year old- and then they got the order wrong. If you have kids... you'll understand how stressful that is. You can't explain to a toddler that their food is coming. I was ripping off pieces of my waffle and feeding them to her on a napkin. Second Visit: I went with my husband and kids early on a Sunday morning. The server was GREAT, but the food was disappointing. Eggs were flat, brown, and rubbery. My husband waited over 5 minutes for his food. He ordered eggs benedict and it seemed that the cooking staff was new or poorly trained. It was a mess on his plate. He's not picky, and he said it was terrible. Third Visit: again, server was GREAT. I ordered a salad this time and let's just say... I don't think they washed the lettuce very well. I won't visit this location again. I recommend going to the Royal Oak location instead where they have it together. read more

ambiance of this place is nice, it's a cute and semi-casual dining place. we ordered the ice coffee and it was literally just milk so i wasn't a big fan of that. the skillet was also okay, not bad but not the best. i'd come back and probably order something else. kind of what i expected but could've been better read more

Came last week and was blown away by the menu and taste of the food! I liked being able to reserve a line on yelp because I could time it perfectly so I didn't have to wait a long time. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The menu is huge so it can be overwhelming but I learned that what ever you gets it's going to be delicious! They also offer a variety of fresh squeezed juices and mock tails. I ordered the breakfast quinoa bowl and berry French toast. I was so stuffed and sooo happy with how my meal turned out! read more

Time and time again we have been ghosted by our servers here, so we are done with the place.

I have been back a few more times which is leading me to change my first review. First off, their healthy food options I found are packed with calories, carbs and sugars. ‍ Secondly, the Million Dollar Bacon that we had the first time, has not been the same since. It seemed undercooked and very rubbery. It's going to be difficult to go back there, it's a good thing we have a million other options. read more

Finally had a chance to try this place!! Husband and I stopped in on a Saturday, only about a 20 min wait. **We learned there is an app, download the app, and you can put your name on the list before getting to the restaurant, this is what 90% of the customers did** Everyone was super nice and accommodating. My husband and I both had a coffee and a fresh pressed juice, which were delicious. And in my option, fairly priced. I had Florentine Eggs Benedict. Holy cow, just fantastic. So so yummy. My husband opted for one of the skillets, which he enjoyed very much. This place is A+ brunch! We will be back soon. read more

Started with a 30+ min wait where we were somehow dropped from the waiting list (this apparently happened to a couple other tables as well). Placed our order, got the drinks and waited and waited and waited. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen as all of the tables around us were also waiting for food. A solid 40 min wait for a qinoa bowl and farmhouse hash. Food: 4* Waitstaff: 4* Service Speed: 0* If you're hungry and looking for a quick bite, this is not the place to go. My new favorite place for breakfast! Everything we got was soooo good and you can tell they use quality ingredients! We had the chickichanga, elevated egg sandwich, eggs with bacon, eggs with chicken sausage patties, a side of greens, and the million bacon. Seriously everything was delicious...all of our entrees! Also, had their kale tonic juice... amazing! The service was really good and it was very clean inside. Heads up they have an app you can use to place your name on the waiting list. It's an okay place to get brunch. The staff isn't that friendly and the server charged us for two pancakes separate instead of the price when you get two. The food is okay, do not recommend having pancakes they have no flavor other than what you add (we had chocolate chips and carrot). Also they need only one person who is in charge to clean tables after people eat because they had a lot of people waiting and a lot of empty tables. Don't think we will come back. read more

Super fresh! Great service! I've had wraps, breakfast tacos, juices! Mmmmm can't wait to return!

Food was good! I ordered the eggs classic Benedict and this meal has ham in it. I personally love Benedict's with a thick slice of ham. Unfortunately, they had just deli slices of ham which really threw me off. Also the hollandaise sauce they usually spread on top of the eggs was very light and didn't have much flavor like a normal Benedict meal would have. BUT I got the million dollar bacon and that was very good. It was candied bacon and wasn't too hard and wasn't too soft!! Perfect! So yummy!! Would come back- probably just wouldn't order the Benedict again read more

Food was decent. Service was good; but, the value for money was sorely lacking. Had three eggs over easy, three pieces of wheat toast and coffee. Always a fun place to enjoy Saturday breakfast. I encourage everyone to go to website and click on the "get in line" at 12:30 we had a 15-20 minute wait time this place is always busy. Recently got home from a 6 month trip, came back to this new restaurant being in the neighborhood. My dad and I decided to check it out and man I am wowed by this place. The food here is incredibly fresh and clean, I wasn't expecting such quality and taste both they delivered on both sides. I had a breakfast bowl from there that was incredible. They make their own cinnamon roasted granola which is also great. Portions are good and prices are right for food like this. My dad had an omelette and he said he's never had such fresh vegetables in an omelette like that before. It was very clean and not greasy at all. They even seasoned the eggs which had a very good roasted kind of taste. Pricilla our waitress was very kind and helped us out with everything. I recommend getting here soon because this place is blowing up in popularity. Great place, service, food, and atmosphere. Most definitely will be back. read more

Oh my gosh, I really like this place. I don't normally go for the franchise kind of restaurants. But this one is outstanding. The help is friendly and I've got to tell you that I have seen a lot of menus, this one is the most unique for breakfast in lunch. I am not a healthy eater by no means. I've been to first watch many times and honestly this will be my last time going to any location. We went to the maple rd location and waited over an hour for an estimated 30 minute wait. The staffing is short and whoever runs this business needs to understand that you can't keep taking walk-ins if you can't keep up with the volume of people coming in. They need to put a cap on how many people they serve because we waited double the estimated time and were seated at a dirty table. When I asked someone to wipe the table for me he gave me a dirty look and said something under his breath after he wiped it. He was clearly being overworked and didn't wanna be there anymore. The food also went right through me (not the first time this has happened). I WILL NOT be returning to any locations! Figure your shit out!! I also used the restroom there and there was an open trash can right infront of the sink, LITERALLY read more

Horrible service. Brought us the wrong order and after that they should have brought it back to the kitchen but they gave it to the customer who ordered it. They should have never served it. We waited for 35 minutes for our meal and was told they don't know where our order went. Told them about what happened and and we're not even apologetic about it. Are all First watch like this? Went for breakfast today and had a great experience! We had stopped going to First Watch a few years ago because of problems with food and service. But today was a totally different experience. We got in pretty quickly after making reservations. The person/ host at the front looked like she was experienced and doing a great job. The server was friendly and wonderful. I appreciated him repeating back my order. I had went to a different location before and received a different meal. The food was very good and hot. We had Salmon frittatas with potatoes and veggie omelette. Coffee was delicious as always. Treated ourselves to the donuts. Even more delicious than thought they would be. The whole vibe was nice.
