This review is not about the food but more about the service. I placed an online to go order at 9:20am on a Sunday morning. I received an email notification at 9:30 saying that my order had been received & that it would be ready at 10:00. I arrived at 10:05 and my order was not ready. I was told that the kitchen was "slammed" and wait times were longer than usual. I can understand that so I waited patiently. During that time I watched a few people come in after I did to dine in. I watched them wait to be seated, order & get their food before I did. I asked the female at the register TWO different times could she check on my food. One time she said it was not ready, they are starting to cook it...THIS WAS AT 10:45!!!! Finally my food comes out approx 11:12am. This is unacceptable, First Watch you have to do better. Just some advice, don't do a to order on the weekends because they can't seem to handle the workload! read more

Generally speaking they try and make their menu items appeal to the health conscientious eater and have always been very pleasant and friendly when we go in to eat. It's worth giving it a try if you have never eaten and is reasonably priced. read more

Jumped on the waitlist 30m prior to arriving and remained in the same 10th spot in line up until our arrival there. Got there and we were immediately seated?? which didn't make sense since the app suggested there was a 25-35minute wait. It looked like they weren't managing the waitlist with Yelp considering they deleted my name along with the 9 others on the list as we were being seated. Our waitress was super friendly and very knowledgable about the food. I never caught her name, but she kept referencing old 80s songs in her responses and it was quite refreshing in the morning. We ordered the trifecta with carrot cake pancakes, breakfast tacos, and the Belgian waffle. It took about 40-45 minutes for us to get our food, which seemed a bit unreasonable considering how busy they were and the simplicity of the dishes. The carrot cake pancakes were good, but didn't really taste like carrot cake--more like a carrot bread maybe?? The waitress suggested I get cheese on my eggs--to which I did, but the eggs came back lukewarm and unappetizing. You would think a breakfast/brunch place would be able to do eggs well... On the flip side, my boyfriend really loved the breakfast tacos and considered ordering another round. Additionally, the Belgian waffle was good -- tasted like any other basic waffle. The interior of the restaurant was cute and has a homey/rustic feel to it. They also have a community table that allows you to sit down faster, however you do end up having to sit with strangers. I love everything brunch! So I decided to look for a new favorite brunch spot and landed on First Watch in Laurel. The waiting time was quite long, but they had a bar style self-seating area which was fantastic. My party of three went for that instead. They cleaned the table as we seated, but left the menu and wrap cutlery. I had to ask for another cutlery because while the cutlery looked untouched, the teaspoons had actually been removed for use. I think as a best practice, all silverware and menus should be reviewed on the self seat tables and the tables should be cleaned as soon as vacated. Nevertheless, the waitress was friendly. There was an endless pot of coffee which was nice. Our food came in shortly afterward. I ordered the Chile chorizo omelette in egg whites with salad. It was delicious. Came out looking like a plastic meal, but tasted great. I also got the French toast with a gazillion fruit slices. That was okay to me. The French toast was very pale, but the fruits made up for it. The rest of the people in my party thought there meals were just okay. A pancake with scrambled eggs and a sausage patty came out looking very sparse even though the pancakes was technically large. A smaller plate would have been better. A pancake came mushy on the inside, but we didn't bother returning it. All in all, I enjoyed my meal and the ambience. There wasn't a lot of customer service, maybe because we were at the self seating area, no checks for our water and coffee. read more

I really wish I could leave less than 1 Star! We signed in online at 11:13am with a 45min-1 hour wait. We checked in when we arrived at 11:30am. We continued to wait for over an hour while groups who came after us ate and left while we were still waiting. We checked in with the front desk twice and observed groups of 3 seating at tables that seat 6. I completely understand how busy it was. However, after waiting 2 hours with still no table after being told there was a 45 min-1 hour wait and no one being able to tell us how much longer is unacceptable. read more

So, a 2 star was the best that I could do given that this is COVID times and I understand that certain businesses are operating with handicaps in place. We got there and there was about a 30 minute wait in place which was fairly standard when dealt with first watch. They got us seated in about 15-20 which was great. The place was steady but not crazy crowded or busy. The kitchen was bustling with to go orders, and while there were a good amount of people seated, there were still a few empty tables. Our waitress was a waitress that we had encountered at another location about a year or two before that. She took our drink orders, and then brought them back to our table. We realized that 2 of the 4 water glasses that we got were dirty. When our waitress came back to take our food orders, we alerted her that the two water glasses were dirty, and she said that she would bring us new ones once she came back from putting our orders in, along with a straw that I requested. This took almost a half hour in and of itself. We watched the waitress (who's name I think was keke) roam around the restaurant along with a finger full of other employees attempting to look busy while we and a few other tables waited for them to acknowledge that we existed. We sat for almost 30 minutes waiting for her to even walk past our table so that we could re-request the new water cups, straw, and call her attention to the dirty glass that one of our orange juice was brought in. Once she walked by, we called her attention to it, she obliged our requests, and we continued to wait another 20 minutes for food while again being ignored by our waitress and watching her and other employees pretend to be busy while the kitchen profusely pumped out to go orders. Once our food finally did come, one of us received the wrong dish. When this was pointed out to the waitress who handed the wrong dish out by the wrong name, the waitress responded by yelling the name of the dish back at her as if our friend needed to just take the dish anyway and be quiet. My friend corrected her again, handed it back, and told her that it was the wrong dish and our waitress took it back to the kitchen where we could here her arguing about the dish with the kitchen. Inappropriate all around. Another person received a burnt chocolate chip pancake that she had to send back to the kitchen. Simple instructions pertaining to our food were not followed (I.e.- light cheese and etc). We all chalked it up to our waitress just not paying attention. As I said before we had a similar experience with this person at a different location a while before. All the while, we watched to go order after to go order go out, and watched our waitress mill around as if we didn't mean much to her. It was annoying at best. Last but not least, one of our friends went to the bathroom prior to us leaving and complained of it being disgusting. The entire floor was sticky and gross. Totally unacceptable, especially during COVID times. Food was good. Customer service needs work. The restaurant wasn't near busy enough for her to be that distracted, or dismissive. This young lady needs to be trained more/better. I hope you all see this and take that advice. It'll help in the long run. I understand it's COVID times, but if you don't have the customer service waitstaff capability to handle being open right now, then maybe the dining room should remain closed until your people are up to their jobs. Decided to grab breakfast here on a weekday because I was in the area. I was immediately greeted in the bright pleasant dining room. The menu was easy to read and offered a lot of great options. I opted for bacon and onion hash as per my fabulous server. I added crostini mushrooms! The food arrived quickly and was extremely fresh and tastely. I was able to taste each ingredient. Sadly my server got busy and wasn't able to check on me and some of my food was wrong. Overall everything was good but I noticed she was clear across the room with other tables. The check-in front door service is terrible . They don't have a system with greeting people or assisting with checking-in. They assume everyone goes to the app to check-in therefore ignoring you and if that's what they want customers to do then be clear. The younglady at the register is not friendly at all. My experience did improve at breakfast. My waitress really stepped up and change my experience. She was pleasant, attentitive, and my eggs benedict was good, I really appreciate her allowing me to speak on the phone and still manage my table needs. GOOD jOB! read more

Atmosphere: I came here with my cousin on a Saturday morning around 9:30 am and this place was packed! They had list of 16 parties before us and we were predicted to be seated in about 30 minutes. There was a little table with complimentary coffee, creamer, and sugar while you wait which was nice. The wait time to be seated was pretty accurate. However, waiting for the food is really where most of your time is spent. After we ordered, it took another 50 minutes for the food to be served (and mind you, they were not complex meals). Speaking of serving, our waiter was nice, but never thought to check up on us once. She came to get our orders and to give us our check. For these reasons, I'm taking one star away. Food: My cousin ordered the Traditional Breakfast with turkey links and scrambled eggs. The toast was the highlight of the the dish as it was crunchy and multigrain. According to her, the eggs came out cold (reason I'm taking another star away) and we wondered if the dish had been sitting out for a while before they got served. Again, our waiter didn't come around so we never got a chance to ask for it to be switched out. We were also afraid it would take a long time for the replacement eggs to come out. Aside from the eggs and the toast, the other items on the dish was average. I got the Eggs Benedict BLT with potatoes. The potatoes came out crispy and the eggs were cooked perfectly. To me, the dish was pretty good. Nothing blew me away, but nothing disappointed. Would I come back and would I recommend to a friend? I don't think I'd come back again. One word: bacon. If you get NOTHING ELSE, get their millionaire bacon. Honestly nothing I say after this matter as much. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. This place is a local haven and gets super full on the weekends. I love sitting at the community table and have met some really cool people. The wait staff is awesome and does their best to fit us in as much as they can. My family came here during the Christmas break and they sat us all best as they could as well as my co-workers. I have not had anything bad here yet. I love the tonics because they make me feel like I really care about my body and it's a solid balance, if you ask me, for the bacon I always get. The portions are a good size, the coffee comes in a carafe so I can indulge as I like to and the freshness of the ingredients is noticeable. Know the wait time can be ridiculous, so set your thoughts and bring a good book, or a better conversationalist. read more

This is a hidden gem in the area. I had no idea that this place was so close to where my sister lives. I will be coming back to this area a lot more frequently. This is a good option if you are looking for healthy, fast, and affordable food. Everything on the menu is great and there are so many items to pick from. I got a quinoa bowl with a delicious sauce drizzled on top. We ended up staying for a long time because I was catching up with an old friend and they did not say anything to us. First time visiting here. Heard lots of good things about it. Nice atmosphere, along with a general menu. Ordered two 1/2 of waffle kids breakfast with turkey sausage. With two Apple juices and their meal came with fresh fruit. My husband had the Chickichanga with grits, potatoes and fruit. I had a whole waffle with 2 fried eggs, 1 sausage link, and grits. (one sausage link though)! My husband and I also had the Morning Meditation. When the food arrived I was upset. The first meal came and it was one of the kids meal. Remind you I have two 4 year olds waiting to eat and they bring one dish. 10 minutes later my husbands food come and mines. I'm still missing one kids meal. The kids are fussing because they are ready to eat. No one eats because we are waiting on the last kids meal to come. It took about 20 mins for the second kids meal to come. We went yesterday for my bosses birthday. We had little to no wait for the seven of us. I did call about an hour before to see what the restaurant looked like and i was told that Wednesdays are generally good mornings to come on. They do not take reservations but that is fine i was made aware and we planned accordingly. We were seated and immediately greeted by Kayla. She was so sweet and patient with us because our group was kind of rowdy and hard to get everyone's attention at once. She checked with us all to see if we wanted anything besides the water that was already on the table. Many people ordered the kale tonics, i opted for the pomegranate mule which was very good. After taking some time to look over the menu she came back and took all of our orders which were all pretty much correct. That is saying something because many of us are picky are always trying to substitute something out for another. Our food came out quickly, hot and fresh. I ordered the heritage pork chop and eggs. I am one of those picky eaters i did not get the apple compote that came on top nor the cheesy grits. Instead i got caramelized onions and potatoes. I took off the apple compote because i did not want my meal to be sweet, unfortunately i did not realize that the pork would still be sweet. It was fine but it tasted more like a cut of ham than a pork chop. I did love my onions and potatoes and mixed all together it was good for me. Thank you for waiting on us Kayla. Another first watch! My friend and I have been trying to hit up as many first watch as possible. This is probably our 5th branch. Still amazing and great! I usually end up getting a different omelette each time and care most for the toast. I'm not sure what it is about their toast, but I'm addicted! The jam that it comes with is superb too!!! Its soft and fluffy. I know I should talk about the entree more but the toast is worth it. I've had the italian, works and vegetarian omelettes.. all terrific. Italian is probably the best one since there's actually big chunks of meats and just tastes better. Don't forget to try their seasonal juices! The current one is watermelon mint, LOVELY. I sip it slowly so I can savor it since ain't no free refills! I'll be back at another one of your franchises! read more

Let me just start off by saying that I will definitely be back. I stopped in for breakfast on 04/13 before completing a few errands for the day. When I arrived we were immediately seated. The menu isn't very vast but I wanted to try everything but I narrowed it down and got the trifecta. My trifecta consisted of a fluffy delicious waffle, egg whites with cheese and turkey sausage (drooling as I type this review). My dad got almost the same except he got blueberry pancakes & no cheese in his egg whites...he liked his breakfast but felt like the texture of the pancakes were not cooked to his liking...he felt they were not done in some spots. I love First Watch! I've been to the Laurel First Watch twice now and both experience were good. This time I got the pesto chicken quinoa bowl and it was very tasty and filling. I also tried the pumpkin pancake and it was delicious! The drinks are also really good, my favorite one is the one with tumeric. The wait is horrible though, I recommend putting yourself on the wait list via Yelp about an hour before you plan to arrive. The servers can also seem like they're rushing you and they probably are because there's so many people waiting to get seated. So if you're looking to lounge around for two hours that might not be possible depending on the day of the week. read more

Environment is unique and clean. I first got the kale tonic to start off with and it definitely has a fresh kale apple tase to it. Not going to lie, I sucked that shit down real quick! Our server was extremely nice to us, and the food here has been amazing ( I customized my own omelet ) For all my health freaks out there I got - egg whites - extra spinach - turkey sausage - chicken - w/ a side of juicy fruit Thankfully we came here on a Wednesday morning so it wasn't super busy as the reviews say. *Warning Dirty utensils* (see pic) this place has good food and for the most part the customer service is awesome. However I was a little set back after receiving DIRTY UTENSILS. To be honest, it almost seemed spiteful. I recommend all utensils are re- inspected before serving to customers. Also, the water glasses were dirty as well, so I recommend bringing your own water bottles. Lots of old food particles in bottle of glass. GOODLUCK. Safe eating yelpers. Customers, honestly just ask for plastic utensils. I told manager so he could see it, he just said I apologize and replaced with plastic utensil. But it did tarnish my meal because it made me wonder how clean are they in the kitchen if something like this can be wrapped and given to a customer to eat with. UGH. I convinced my husband to come back and try it one more time. He obliged, but said absolutely no to a weekend, so we came on a Friday at about 10am. There was nobody up front when we had walked in, but a busser called over a waitress and we were greeted then promptly seated. We were given water, coffee and were told about the seasonal menu. I didn't catch her name but our receipt says Zakiyyah, so that's who I'm hoping it was. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the food we wanted to try, and even made recommendations, which I like. She checked on us periodically and we were never left wondering where she went. I ordered the 2 for you, Monterey Club Sandwich and Tomato Basil soup. My husband ordered the Elevated Egg Sandwich. I enjoyed my food, but more so the soup. The sandwich was good but it was as if the bottom of the bread disappeared. The soup was absolutely delicious. It was creamy, herby, with a hint of sweetness. My husband must have enjoyed his because he inhaled it. He raved about the potatoes though! This was a much more pleasant experience than the last. I have drove by this restaurant numerous times but I thought it was an urgent care center because of the name. One day, I googled it and saw it was a resturant. I was interested in their Avocado Toast. So I stopped by this morning and to my surprise, it was crowded. I ordered carryout, and the wait was like 20 mins. It seemed long because I only ordered Avocado Toast with a fried egg, and Kale Tonic Juice. The service was really good.The Avocado had too much lemon and salt, but it was tasty. The atmosphere was pretty open, modern but casual. If you want carryout, I would suggest that you order ahead of time, then pick it up. read more

I ordered hot tea and the hot water came steaming hot in a thermos bottle with a separate container of several bags of tea for me to choose from, and keep at the table in case I wanted a second cup. By far the worst First Watch location in the area. Even at half capacity due to covid, the service was very slow and the food much lower quality compared to their other locations. After ordering and waiting over 25-30 mins for our food, the portion was small, my sunny side up eggs were raw and my coffee mug had lipstick marks. Tables around us sat with dirty plates and cups the entire time we were there. There were plenty of servers talking in the kitchen area but noone taking initiative to pick up to have the tables ready and sit the people that were waiting. I've had a great experience at other First Watch locations in the area, definitely not returning to the Laurel one though read more

Amazing food and great staff! The flavors were amazing and they were very attentive to my 4-year old daughter. Our server came to our table and told us her name while talking about topics that kept my daughter excited. The first omelet can put runny unfortunately but the reason for the 5-star review is how they handled it instantly and with grace. I used the Yelp Waitlist feature to reserve a spot online! Once you arrive, check-in with the host and they'll note that you are there. Then I waities for another 5 minutes which wasn't too bad since the normal wait was about 60 minutes. They get really packed in the morning so make a reservation ahead of time. Otherwise you can use their community table to get seated right away. Once seated, I ordered their super granola bowl which comes with greek yogurt filled with granola chunks, grapes, melon, dried cranberries and pineapple. It also comes with a side of a chocolate chip muffin which was warm when my dish came out. The yogurt paired well with the toppings and was more than enough. I've been here two times and every time it never disappoints. If you come here after noon, the place is usually packed so you already know what it is. First of all, get the million dollar bacon. You're welcome. It's sweet, savory, and crispy and it's the best I've had at any breakfast spot. Their seasonal items on the menu are amazing. The heritage pork is so soft and juicy, I can tell that its ancestors were the cream of the crop. My girlfriend enjoyed the BLT Benedict, and it was filling and tasted like heaven.
