We went on a Wednesday morning after a dr appt - no wait! We were sat as soon as we walked in - the environment is clean and stream lined. I love the big cardinal mural. We ordered a fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee, and two waters. The server left a pitcher of water and a carafe of coffee. We went in to order a barbacoa bowl that was the perfect amount of spice. I ate the entire portion. My daughter ordered the turkey burger with a side of the tomato basil soup. Weird cause she hates tomatoes- but she ate the entire bowl. Got here early and they weren't too busy so we were seated immediately and got served quickly. The coffee was hot and fresh Lemon blueberry cornbread was delicious a slight crunch to the outside with plenty of blueberries inside and topped with lemon butter. This location is much better than the one on 86th street. Our server was great. I wish I cold remember her name... it started with an A. She was great very personable, very positive. This location is big and spacious, warm and inviting. Plenty of parking space as well. I has lemon ricotta pancake, 2 scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage and grits. Everything is made fresh daily, nothing processed, they don't even have a microwave. The eggs and coffee are locally sourced from woman owened businesses. My coworkers and I have been working in Greenwood this week and we have been to first watch twice. I love their options the first day I got breakfast. This time I got half soup sandwich. The chicken and wild rice was delicious. I usually like my soup piping hot, so it could have been heated up a little more. But it was good so I didn't make it a big deal. My salad was the Sweet Honey Pecan. (Minus Pork) Mmmhmm. The honey Dijon dressing with the chicken and pecans was genius. They plate was this close to being licked clean. Wouldn't be an issue, if these sandwiches weren't hot on the edge and cold in the center, with cheese melted over my avocado and sweaty in the center. When we complained to the manager, he informed us that our sandwiches were supposed to be cold. Cold meat and cheese with melted, sweaty edges, not a fan. I'll be honest, this one had to grow on me. I'm more of a kinda-sketchy diner guy when it comes to breakfast, but my family is apparently a bit more refined and ask to come here instead. I'm in. Big perk is that they are very allergy-friendly and take great care to make sure you're taken care of, which is wonderful. (Kinda-sketchy diners don't compare in this respect.) The rotating seasonal menu is especially fun, though of course you never know how it will turn out - but hey, that's the fun in it, right? I've been pleasantly surprised more than disappointed. And of course the regular staples are great. The restaurant itself is very open and inviting, and feels very upscale Midwest in the best way. Great spot for families, as pretty much anyone can get what they're looking for! Highly recommend hopping online first to put your name in line - it can get very busy (this is a congested part of town for retail) so on weekends especially you'll want to save some time. read more

I finally had some free time to try First Watch. loved being greeted at the table with a large coffee cup and a carafe of coffee. Our waitress was fun, friendly, and quick. The food was tasty and served with fresh farm to table ingredients that were not heavy with oils or sauces. The open concept with the room is fine but can be a bit noisy. Our daughter is neuro-divergent so loud busy areas can be a challenge. I want to go back and try more variety as their menu changes. Looking forward to the return! read more

It was definitely packed on a Sunday around 11. We just checked in online when we were on the way and got seated almost immediately once we checked in. It is super loud in there so it's not great if you want to have a conversation. I had the barbacoa chilaquiles from the seasonal menu. Chilaquiles is my favorite breakfast so I love seeing it on a menu and will always order it. It had a great balance of fresh toppings like pico and avocado to balance out the richness of the barbacoa, black beans, and sauce. My mom had the traditional breakfast. The sausage was her favorite. She also loved that the leave the full carafe of coffee for you instead of just refilling your cup. My brother liked the chickichanga but wasn't a fan of the breakfast potatoes. He also liked the seasonal Honey Crunch iced coffee. We all split the holey donuts with the berry compote. That was probably the best bite of the whole meal. All the staff were moving quickly and friendly but it still took maybe 30 minutes to get our food. Our plates came out at different times which just an accident I think. We needed more brunch spots on the south-side, so happy to see First Watch in Greenwood. Looks like everyone is enjoying First watch, Ha! We waited 40 minutes to be seated on a Saturday morning and then waited 10 minutes for our drinks to come and 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Hoping wait time improves we are giving them the benefit of the doubt because that they are still new. The Biscuits and turkey gravy with eggs and potatoes was delicious. The lemon ricotta pancakes were good but the lemon custard was a lot, I wish they'd put it on the side instead of plopped on the pancake, next time I would ask for it on the side. None the less it was good!! Ambiance is nice, I love the cardinal mural on the wall. There is not enough room for waiting customers and it doesn't help that customers pay up front right by the front door it was very crowded and overwhelming. My friend has mentioned this restaurant multiple times and I've heard good things (she lives in another town) so when it opened near us I was excited to try it. It is a new spot for the Southside so keep that in mind as many people are eager to try it and waits are a bit longer now. The inside is wooden with great style and very airy, lots of tables and booths as well as some space for eating at the bar. Our party of four got a table after about 35 minutes which wasn't bad given the hour, but so give them grace as they are just working out the kinks! Our waitresses were friendly and quick, so we got served quickly once seated and were able to peruse the menu. All of the options for breakfast and brunch are delicious looking, but I tried lunch with a veggie sandwich and fresh salad. It was very fresh and perfectly 'roasted' with the salad being light and flavorful. I would for sure get it again. The rest of the table inhaled their food and said they would return, especially given the portion sizes were good for the cost. One lady even said there was so much meat on hers it was too big to eat! A good problem to have for sure. This wonderful new brunch spot just opened in Greenwood where the former Famous Dave's used to be. When you walk in, the entire place is brightly lit with natural sunlight and it looks clean and inviting. I tried several things - the Purple Haze non-alcoholic drink, cheesy grits, million dollar bacon and the lemon ricotta pancakes. Everything was pretty amazing, with the exception of the grits. The Purple Haze drink is not only beautiful, but tastes light and refreshing- I could definitely sip on those all day. The bacon was perfect- cooked crispy the way I like it and the pancakes were pretty epic! The serving size is huge- I definitely have enough for a third meal. My only dislike was the grits. They weren't bad, but they were a little watery and bland. Will definitely return and bring family in when they're visiting from out of town. read more

The food choices we felt were limited & very ummm.... Upscale. In addition the taste of the food was just okay. The pancake my wife had was okay. The bacon was decent. My cheesy grits were decent & the omelet was merely ok. We really wanted to like this place but there are other places on the south side we prefer much more. Coffee is good and they always leave the pitcher so hot refills are at your finger tips. Everything one would expect in a restaurant was met or exceeded by our order. Our server was charming and efficient as well! However, the reason I would like to praise the First Watch Team at Greenwood, Indiana is their extraordinary kindness and caring. Just as we arrived in the First Watch parking lot, our car broke down and could not be restarted!! The server was so sweet to help us navigate ordering at the same time that we were speaking with AAA for towing assistance. After finishing our meal, it was evident that we were not going to get quick help from AAA, so we had to keep revisiting First Watch for the facilities, to buy a drink, etc. Every time, the staff inquired about how we were doing, offered us water, etc. When a tow truck finally arrived, our car ride had not yet arrived so we moved around to the porch of First Watch to seek shelter from the sun. We thought we would not be troubling the staff because they were officially closed. A young lady came out to clear away coffee urns and a few stray dishes, and even though the restaurant was closed, she asked so sweetly, "Do you need any drinks? Can I get you anything?" We are out-of-towners. The gut and remodel job of transitioning this building from a Famous Dave's to First Watch is fantastic. It's open and bright and airy - a total turnaround from the sectioned-off, 80's-90's decor, dark dining room trend. The food here was pretty good. I really enjoyed the chile chorizo omelette. The eggs could have been cooked a little more slowly to prevent browning, but overall, the flavor combination of the fillings made it enjoyable. Their coffee concept of leaving the entire pot on the table is a nice touch so that patrons do not have to wait around for their server to give them a top-off or warmup. I have been tempted to come and try this place out and I finally found the chance. It was a busy morning but food came quickly. They have plenty of seating and a "bar" for lone guests. The biscuits and gravy were very awesome it was turkey sausage. The eggs were cooked well and not runny. The Potato's were well seasoned. One thing I found odd, maybe because I was at the "bar", was that they printed the receipt right after they took my order. On the receipt it had a QR code so that I could pay instantly. I have a million nice things to say about this place so let's see if I can fit them all here. To start with, the staff (servers, runners, manager, even those bussing the tables) were all such lovely people. We had questions about their specials and they were happy to explain everything we needed to know and the manager even sat down with us to share his favorites and show off their reservation system online. Such nice, attentive people! They sold us on a few of their specials including the lemon ricotta pancakes (both sweet and tart and super fluffy), the iced honey crunch latte (a ton of honey taste and the best whipped cream I've ever tasted), and the millionaire bacon (slightly sweet melt in your mouth bacon). The pea flower drink, the Purple Haze (?), was really good too! And very pretty with the addition of the pea flower. I also had the egg sandwich with avocado and it was so yummy. Very fluffy bun, really creamy avocado, and a hint of lemon. Really good balance. We were recommended the breakfast tacos & the chimichanga menu item and will try those along with the biscuits & gravy next time. The place has only just opened but is already running quite smoothly (props to the staff for that). It's a really nice space with wood floors and a very open floor plan so you can see around the restaurant. You can actually see a little bit into the kitchen too! Very modern look. We actually sat at the bar to eat and it was a nice little setup! Sorry about the half eaten pictures. We were too excited to dig in. Lol But really do highly recommend this place!
