One of the classiest diners in town! Great staff. Unusual menu for a diner. Slick and upscale but not expensive. I loved my fancy waffle. Might have to wait a bit for a table. read more

Cinnamon pancakes are delicious but their waffles are just so-so, not much consistency and way to much sugar for a plain waffle. Coffee was just alright. read more

We are weekly visitors to this First Watch. The staff is so friendly and very hardworking. Never have we had a bad meal there. The have seasonal specials so you can always find new dishes on the menu. Fresh, clean, delicious recipes. We highly recommend. But beware, they are busy so we always use the 'No Wait' app and spend our wait time at home. read more

This place does it right. Great breakfast food (that's all I've ordered). I would eat here any time. Do yourself a favor and get the 'no wait' app. You can get in line before you get there. Makes dining much faster. read more

We visit several of the First Watch restaurants, they are all good, however Independence is our favorite. Great staff, great management. Love being able to use the No Wait app as well! read more

This plave is great. I wanted to try the entire menu. I had the chickichanga which was so good. I also got the "root down" which was a house juice they make fresh daily. Sooooooo good. Our server, alex, was awesome very friendly and seemed to actyally be happy at work!. Dont listen to Curtis he's a negative person you can tell from his past posts. Try this place you will not be disappointed! read more

Best fresh food and great service! Flexible with substitutions and a wide variety of choices that are tasty. Have a good selection of lower calorie items that are also pleasant to the pallet. read more

We've been seated for 28 minutes and still do not have food. We had to ask the host to find someone to take our drink order. We have to leave here in 15 minutes & may or may not get to eat. We will never come to this location again. Choose any other location. Seated at 10:37. Just left at 11:16 because we still hadn't been served our food. Ironically, this was the smallest location I've been to & they still couldn't handle the number of customers. read more

Great lunch experience for our table of five. I have to commend a server at the Independence, MO location. I am 59 years old and I have never experienced such caring service from a restaurant server as we witnessed on a busy Sunday from your server named Seiraya. She was very attentive to the needs of my family. She asked detailed follow up questions, such as, "Is there any fruit you don't like?" regarding the fruit side offering. She was attentive to every detail, including refilling drinks, and was very professional, kind, and caring -- beyond what you would expect from an excellent server. Seiraya made our experience nearly perfect! She stands out with regard to service and effort. I thought you should know. In addition, the food was excellent, too. read more

The ambiance, the food, the service....Just wow...... everyone was smiling. The pot roast Hash and the day glow juice were delicious and our server was on point. Love this place read more

My baby and I go here when we have a rough night and need a pick me up in the morning. We typically get the same thing each time, but venture out once and awhile and are always satisfied. I usually get the Tri-fecta with pecan pancakes, turkey sausage, and basted eggs. The butter is what makes these pancakes so delicious. I never use syrup on them because they taste so amazing. I sometimes order strawberries to go with them to give them a sweeter taste. Then I usually finish my meal with a juice called "Day Glow," which is a mango, carrot juice and gets better with every sip. My son usually gets the crepe filled with fruit from the kids menu. It's topped with yogurt and comes with sour dough toast and granola. We get the yogurt on the side since he eats with his hands :) That kid devours it and then goes for my plate. He loves the pancakes, the day glow, and if I order avocado toast, I'm lucky to get a few bites before he demands I share. That's another favorite of mine. The avocado toast is a special they serve once and awhile. It's I think multigrain toast topped with a large amount of avocado mixed with herbs. They serve basted eggs with it. It's delicious, but you can choose your eggs however you like them. It's hard to leave without ordering a giant pancake or their amazing waffles. I probably go here once a week. Wonderful staff. Very attentive, accommodating, and personable. Worth trying out, even if you're not a breakfast eater. read more

Great friendly service, worth the wait. I most certainly will return next time I'm in KC. The food is great but the service is even better!

Number one and first choice for a healthy breakfast in Independence. This place rocks and I recommend the Market Hash. read more

First Watch is one of our favorite places to go for breakfast and lunch. The food is fresh, delicious, and has something for everyone. Whether you are vegetarian, dieting, full on carnivore, or a lover of pancake variety, this is your place. And the staff can't be beat. They are always smiling, friendly, and offer quick, precise service. This place truly can't be beat. read more

Great service. Always have had good food for years. Never miss a chance when we are that way to eat there. Light meals also. Good coffee. Main word Healthy....... Don't miss out on it. read more

I stopped by here for dinner. I am not from this area. They had a very good house margarita. I ordered a combo plate. I would recommend the entrees with chicken. Very good. In future I will avoid the beef. A little too much grease for me and me likes my grease! I did not order it but saw them bring a Chiles Relleno by and they looked very good. I will try that next time. read more

I had lunch here alone today and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. They were very attentive, without being intrusive. I was feeling a little down when I walked in and actually felt better when I left do to the wonderful service. Oh, and the food was delicious! I had the Farm skillet and that wonderful brown sugar bacon. read more

I was not impressed. It is always too crowded and too chaotic. I find the menu is very limited and it is over priced for what you get. I have been here twice and will most likely not visit a third time. I do like to patronize Christian businesses, but also need to spend my money where it's worth it. Nothing special to draw me back. read more

Excellent breakfast with many healthy options. Market Omelet and multigrain pancakes were great! Great service!

Came in from out of town for a wedding. Used Yelp to find a place to eat breakfast and decided on "First Watch". Great place with excellent food. Service was prompt and informative. Constantly catered to and pampered. Split the market skillet with side order waffle an order of their famous millionaire bacon.. plenty of food for two read more

My husband and I have been loyal First Watch customers for 1.5 years. While no restaurant including First Watch is 100% perfect all the time, this place is our favorite breakfast spot. We rarely have any issues at First Watch including a mixed up order or food that wasn't cooked/made right. If something is not to your liking, let your server know and they will fix the issue. One time, my husband ordered a salad that he ended up not liking because of the dressing (which my husband had poured all over the salad). He told our waiter he didn't like the salad, so the waiter sent the food back to the kitchen and then let my husband order something else. We were only charged for the food my husband ended up eating. I love the variety of delicious options on the menu and the fact that they allow to substitute some ingredients or sides. For example, I love their Bacado omelette, but I ask for potatoes and a cup of fruit as my sides instead of mixed greens and toast. My husband enjoys his Superfoods Bowl and gets a scrambled egg instead of a toast with almond butter. I have tried most of their omelettes (Bacado, Chile Chorizo, Morning Market Veg, Inspired Italian and The Works) and they were all good, but Bacado is my favorite. I also love Breakfast Tacos and Chickichanga. In our experience, when we ask for a substitution or something on the side, we almost always get exactly what we order, including when my husband asks for the strawberries from the Superfoods Bowl to be on the side instead of in the bowl. Ok, the 1st time, they put the strawberries in the bowl, but on all consequent occasions, they have been putting his strawberries in a small metal cup. We also love the friendly atmosphere at First Watch in Independence. If you are a regular here, the staff will recognize you and may remember your name. We use NoWait app to get in line, so we don't have to wait at the restaurant. Most of the time, the staff recognize us as soon as we walk through the door and check us in (without us having to remind them of our names). I see wait staff talking to other regulars and asking them how they have been or how is so and so doing. Sometimes, wait staff hug their customers. There is also a Community Table. It is a table that seats 8 people. It is first come first serve. It is a good place to sit if you like talking to other people or at least don't mind sitting at a table with strangers. We used to sit there (before we discovered the NoWait app) on a regular basis and we have had some interesting conversations with others at the table. I have read some reviews of this First Watch restaurant and I wanted to clarify some things. One person said that the restaurant uses Styrofoam containers and plastic silverware. If you dine-in, you eat/drink from real dishes and have metal silverware. They have a coffee pot by the entrance along with Styrofoam cups, so people can drink coffee while they are waiting to be seated. I have never ordered take-out from First Watch, but I would guess that they use disposable containers and plastic silverware. The cream for the coffee comes in single serving containers and I don't know what it actually is made of. I have only eaten scrambled eggs a few times, but I do remember them being like cup up fried eggs as opposed to fluffy scrambled eggs which I cook at home. Thanks for reading my long review :) read more

Found this Gem of a place today while out with my husband. We were hungry and wanted to try something different. We found this place just driving around and couldn't be more happier that we found it. The ambiance was so pretty. Reminded me of like a country look mixed with a bit of modern to it. The service was amazing. She was so personable and very knowledgeable of the menu. She showed us the many different options of the menu. The food was amazing. It was well seasoned but not overwhelming. Their food is also organic which I love! Will definitely be returning to this location! read more

Great food. Dishes are contemporary, very appealingly. Kitchen staff is consistent, we eat here a lot, and I regularly complement them on the great job they do. Waitstaff is very personable, however restaurant is almost always very busy, and unfortunately at times the service suffers accordingly. Just an inconvenience mind you, nothing severe enough to prevent us from returning. read more

Now I've eaten here as an ovo-lacto veg before and don't recall any issues, food was always on point. Since transitioning into a totally vegan diet, I have opted to wisely not eat here. Recently, this past Saturday I decided to shake things up a bit and dine here with my folks. I ordered a vegan burger that came with a side salad of leafy greens with a lemon vinaigrette dressing. While the food looked and tasted great, the first thing that I noticed was that someway somehow a chunk of REAL bacon was dropped on my plate. Of course I was horrified and immediately wanted to send the food back. But in my experience, doing something like that usually does not benefit the person dining. So I just let my mother scooch it off of my plate and I opted to dive in. Needless to say, I ended up sick to my stomach for two days straight. I am hopeful that other vegans will read this review so that they may learn to stay far, far away from First Watch as an option to dine. I will never go back, not even on my weakest day! read more

On Point. My wife and I both really enjoyed our brunch. Very fresh ingredients, friendly waitresses and nice atmosphere. Highly recommend.

The food is amazing but they need more space. The wait was horrible. 30 minuets to wait is ridiculous. If you have a bit of time to wait in line every time you go there for good food this is the place to go. read more

Love coming here for breakfast! I love getting their French toast! Only wish they had longer hours.

The quality of the food is very good but the price of one glass of milk $3.29 bacon cheese pancake eight dollars unreasonably high

Took family there on Thursday. The level of incompetence was over the top this time. Screwed up my wife's order and then didn't get it out to her until we were about ready to leave. Then the manager got snotty and my wife ended up leaving in tears. You have screwed up for the LAST time. That's 2 special events. There will NOT be a third. Everybody. There's a Golden Corral around the corner. Better food and they won't get nasty with you and make your wife cry. I hope you are proud. Never Again. read more

Wonderful food and atmosphere. Healthy menu with several organic choices and a very friendly and attentive wait person. We went there for breakfast, I chose the tri athlete with fresh fruit (and it really was fresh!! My husband teased me, but usually diner "fresh fruit" is anything but. This actually was) My breakfast included cage free egg whites in an omelet with crimini mushrooms, onions, green chilis, and tomatoes with a small side of fresh housemade salsa.I enjoyed every bite. , I got a side of a turkey sausage patty, and it was good. My family really enjoyed their choices as well. My son says the belgian waffle he had was really good. I loved their option of organic herbal teas, I chose an English black tea which was delicious. Anyone looking for a quality, healther option to the greasy spoons and cheap fast foot breakfast, this is for you. I would recommend it anytime. read more
