We went for breakfast on a Tuesday morning. The restaurant was not too crowded, were quickly sat and our waitress soon came by and gave us coffee water and went over the menu. My wife ordered the Carnitas Breakfast Burrito special and I had the f Steak & Eggs Hash (flank steak).. Her burrito was huge and it was delicious as it looked. It was nicely stuffed with Pork carnitas, scrambled eggs, potatoes, black beans, Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, and avocado. She couldn't eat it all but almost did because it was so good. My Steak & Eggs Hash was disappointing. While portion size was fairly good and I realize that a hash contains a lot of potatoes but this hash was very skimpy on a steak. The eggs that were placed over the top were ordered over-medium but they came over-hard. A few minutes later when the waitress came by to check on our meal, I showed her my eggs and she admitted that yes, they seem to have some problems cooking eggs properly. She promptly put in another order of fresh eggs and in about 7-8 minutes they bought out another order of eggs but again, these were cooked-hard! She offered to have them re-done but I said no thank you as my breakfast was getting cold and I didn't wanna wait any longer. To be honest, I've have had the farmhouse hash at another First Watch and absolutely loved it: It was one of the most delicious breakfast dishes are I've ever had! In comparison, Bob Evans' Sunshine Skillet is better then the Steak & Eggs Hash I was served here. Not to beleaguer the point, but on our previous visit here out over-easy eggs came out almost raw with a god bit of clear egg around the yoke. They were busy that morning and the reorder of eggs took 40 minutes! As another reviewer points out, this places struggles when they are busy. Our server was friendly. We appreciated that she left a container of fresh water and a pot of coffee on the table. I find their coffee a little rich and dark but I enjoy it. If they could just learn how to cook eggs, this place would be great for breakfast. read more

This place was pretty good, and I'm always happy to have more diners. The menu is long and there are plenty of clever dishes, that are healthy but don't leave anything missed. I had high expectations, but was disappointed. My wife and I tried it for breakfast. I ordered the traditional breakfast but it seemed like only one egg was scrambled -- poor value for price paid. Did not care for how the potatoes were seasoned. And the coffee was lukewarm. I probably will not return. Now I must say that the servers are attentive with smiling attitudes. This is my second visit and I would rate it a ten if I could. Abi greeted us and was absolutely the best ambassador you could dream of! With a huge smile and great personality, she pointed us to some amazing breakfast choices. Donut holes and a burrito make me want to come back again tomorrow. I met Ray, the manager and complimented him on Abi and the fantastic meal. After eating at The Toastery two days ago, there is no comparison! This place rocks and kills anything in Charlotte or Ft Mill for service and quality. I will not even try somewhere else for breakfast after this great experiance. I really want to like this place. The decor is great, it's clean, service is good too. But we've been twice and the food just isn't as good as it could be. Eggs were dry and under-seasoned, potatoes undercooked and under-seasoned, grits were completely bland . Pancake, benny, sausage gravy, and tacos were mediocre. Bacon and biscuits were good. You must be doing something right to have 2/3 of dining area full before 8am on Saturday! Bailey was our server and she is very attentive and personable. Kudos for leaving a carafe of coffee and an A+ for Silk dairy free creamer! Coffee is smooth. Other cafes, take heed. Prices are moderate like Eggs Up, Famous Toastery , etc. Eggs were fluffy ( or egg whites option)as were multi grain huge pancakes. Preferred the Banana Nut Granola one over the blandly spiced Carrot Cake with shredded carrots and raisins. Offer chicken herb sausage, bacon, pork links, don't recall a plant based option. Look forward to trying avocado entrees, omelets next go around. This place is bright and smaller than it looked outside. Get there early or come when you're not quite hungry. read more

Review update. Went to the Pet store near this restaurant today for my puppy's special food and had to wait for them to unload a truck so I decided to get lunch. It was close to 2 pm on a Thursday, but I had a great experience and a terrific sandwich - Monterey Turkey Club and great service. So for what it is, a basic breakfast / lunch place, it was EXCELLENT. Just the dumbest app I've EVER used at a restaurant - DO NOT USE THEIR APP - JUST SHOW UP AND CHECK IN. Other than whoever chose the app needs to be re-examined, the restaurant is good. Two stars off till they lose the foolish app. Otherwise, 5 stars. read more

First time in. Got in early so seated right away. The server was great. My finance had the egg skillet dish and she said it was good. I had the French toast tasted blah. I wasn't impressed with the whole experience. The one thing that did catch my eye was pricing. You comes up pricing? Why must these restaurants charge NYC pricing? Everything looked good on paper/pictures,however when I tried the food I was left missing something. The chorizo omelette really didn't taste like chorizo and the green chilies were diced too small, eluding my taste buds. I was not thrilled with the avocado toast because the lime was too over powering and the toast wasn't really toasty. The cheesy grits had an herb seasoning between parsley and rosemary that just didn't belong. I did enjoy the over medium eggs, but aside from that, I was not impressed. Went with #2 Chili Chorizo omelets which both came out cold and after 40 minutes of waiting for food after ordering did NOT want to send back, ate anyway. Additional order was short rib benedict which was good but again poached eggs and potatoes were only warm. Mixed berry toast was excellent. This after waiting what was estimated by hostess as 20 minutes on Saturday @ 11:30 am and ended up being 45 minutes before being seated. Went with some friends for lunch today. We arrived at 12:55 and were told there was a 30-45 minute wait. The place was packed, and we could see several empty tables waiting to be cleared with no effort being made to clean them, so we were somewhat skeptical, but were seated 40 minutes later so right on time. (While we were being seated, I noticed that despite a still-packed lobby and a 2:30 closing time, there were even more empty tables not being cleared.) We ordered immediately since we had already perused the menu. Our waitress checked in with us about 10 min after we ordered to drop off syrup and to ask if we were okay. She then proceeded to ignore us and actually go out of her way to avoid eye contact and pretend to not hear us for the next 30 minutes even when walking right past us with us calling out "Ma'am! Ma'am!". At 2:16 (again, they close at 2:30 and we were seated at 1:35), we finally were successful in stopping her to ask about our food. Hand to God, her exact response (while pointing in the direction of the kitchen) was "Oh, it's ready over there. It's just waiting for someone to bring it out to you." She then departed in the midst of our stunned silence, NOT to the kitchen to get our food, but to take another order. Five minutes later, someone else delivers two of our three orders. Five minutes after that, the third one arrives. It was now closing time but we were assured we could stay until we were done. We all agreed the food was good but the place really needs better management. All the workers we could see (many) were quite young and clearly did not know how to self-direct. The waitressing income is probably fairly nominal when tables are not turning over and when tips are smaller than average, so it is probably a vicious cycle, but a good manager patrolling the lobby and the tables could keep the staff on track. Heads up on the Million Dollar Bacon - it is drenched in syrup and the restaurant does not carry wet wipes. Luckily one of my friends does. : ) read more

This morning for Brunch, the restaurant manager was working the hostess podium. My Wife approached to let him know that she checked in online and asked for her wait time. He gave her a sneer and condescendingly told her she was at the bottom of the list. Rude !! He refused to give her a wait time then finally told her the app already quoted her that. Is that the way corporate teaches their managers to speak to customers ??? Wait staff was inadequate and poorly trained. Food was burnt on one side and raw on the other. The women's bathroom had no toilet paper and a broken paper towel dispenser. I complained to my waiter about everything. He said the manager was a jerk and has a problem with women. My Wife and I are at the head not the tail, we are at the top not the bottom, we are at the front not the rear. Those who are washed in the blood of Christ know what I am talking about. read more

We love this breakfast and brunch restaurant! The only problem is there tends to be a longer wait on the weekends so check in ahead of time. The food is delicious especially the healthy turkey egg omelet. The service is good. We waited nearly an hour before asking for an estimated time we might be seated, and were rudely told that "we can't possibly figure out when people might finish eating." Definitely not impressed. First, service is extremely slow. Secondly, they messed up two of our four orders. My daughter ordered chocolate chip pancakes and they were raw in the middle. We had to send them back, but we were all done eating by the time she got them. I ordered the avocado toast and the toast was soggy underneath...inedible. They didn't even salt the avocado as it was extremely bland. The bread was great, but it came from bread Smith, so they don't really get the credit...I can just go to bread Smith directly. A lot of prepackaged food items, such as smuckers jelly, Heinz ketchup, etc...that you can just buy at the grocery store, so nothing special. Won't go back. read more

I went about a week ago for the first time and was super excited, but was in disbelief when our waitress Sara was incredibly rude and didn't seem to wanna be there. Only saw her about twice during the whole 1 hour me and my husband were there, each time I needed something like napkins or more tea I had to wave for someone else because she was no where to be found. The whole wait list concept is broken here. Signed up online at 11 am and was told it would be 60-90 minute wait. So arrived at noon and was told it would be another hour wait. The hostess when I first arrived to check in said it would be 20 minutes but then changed it to an hour when she reviewed the list again. Food is good but not worth the headache of the wait list if the wait list isn't true to time. read more
