Basic sanitation standards are completely ignored. Worse than the food: the owners/staff (Vietnamese) openly mock and mistreat anyone who isn't from their culture. Extreme xenophobia and racism toward employees and even customers who look different. I witnessed degrading treatment, insults, and hostile behavior. If this is how they treat people in front of customers, imagine what happens in the kitchen. Low-quality food, overpriced, served with contempt. Do not eat here. Do not work here. In the space that was previously 521 BBQ & Grill. I had ready so many positive reviews, had to check it out on this sunny spring Wednesday for lunch. I arrived right when they opened at 12n and I was the only one there for about 10 minutes and then the lunch crowd started rolling in. I had lunch in and then got an order to go as well. I had the fish taco and pork taco and watched Sports Center and their large wide screen TV. I was anxious about the fish because, I don't eat tilapia and Jack, my server said it was Cod and it was delicious! The pork was good too but the fish taco was really good! Later for dinner, I had the Korean Taco and the Brisket Taco. Both were outstanding! The mix of toppings and spices created a really nice mix of flavors. I thought the price points were good and the service from Jack was good too. I will def be returning as they have a very interesting & unique menu. I've been here more than once. The map says it's a BBQ place but it's an Asian/American fusion. Full bar, patio and mostly inside seating. It's a great lunch spot. You can get BBQ, burgers/sandwiches, salads, tacos, wings, steak, pork belly, appetizers like fried zucchini and boba. We've had mozzarella sticks, fried zucchini, tacos, a grilled chicken sandwich (chargrilled and DELISH), etc. and everything has been amazing. They also play some decent bops. The service is good but I've never been there when it was slammed. The last time I was there, kids were playing with sidewalk chalk on the patio. This place is about the closest to Cheers as you can get. Everyone sitting at the bar is welcoming and if you are a newbie, will always give you great suggestions for lunch or dinner. About 16 good draft beers, a few more in bottles, plus they have all the basics, plus a few upscale choices, for wine and spirits. As for the food... the bulgogi, which is not on the menu, is delicious and at a better price point than Spice (which is also good). Has very good wings, and fantastic char-shu pork rolls. We decided to grab dinner at a new (to us) casual restaurant in our neighborhood Walmart parking lot. Meto Pub had an early dinner crowd at 6:30 but the waiter seated us promptly at a booth. Menus were placed and our drink order taken. Ten minutes later we received waters and our waiter said drinks were on the way. After 7:00 I flagged down another waiter and asked about our drinks. Finally at 7:08 our drinks arrived. Our food arrived 2 minutes later. The food was tasty. If you find yourself waiting, speak up. We will try Meto Pub again, hopefully with more timely delivery of drinks and food. read more

This is a great neighborhood spot with a welcoming vibe. Tony, the owner, is incredibly warm and friendly and makes everyone feel at home the moment they walk in. The regular menu is very good quality--fresh, well prepared, and satisfying--but the Korean menu really stands out and is excellent. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality, and they do have a liquor license. It's a perfect place to watch the game, or to stop in for a casual lunch or dinner. It feels like there's a bit of an identity crisis here - the menu is extensive (too extensive, honestly) and ranges from hot dogs to a salmon entree to Korean BBQ. When I see that, it usually makes me think they're going for quantity over quality, and that was where I landed at Meto. I decided to get the crab rangoon and pot stickers appetizers for my meal, and my husband got the salmon entree. He really liked his meal, but mine felt uninspired without much flavor. Amazingly delicious food and great service! The space is well laid out and has a beautiful wall behind the bar that gives a great vibe. We walked in and ordered take out. They treated us as though we were dining in. We played cornhole outside while we waited. I ordered the Appetizers Sampler Platter and chose Crab Ragoons, Mandu and Fried Zucchini Sticks. I also got the Signature Combo Plate and got Brisket with vinegar based bbq sauce and Korean Sweet Chili Grilled Chicken Wings. We also got a side of french fries and fried okras (sorry no pics - we ate those in the car)! The flavors were just outstanding! Can I say that everything was my favorite? The crab ragoons were crunchy and creamy just perfect! The fried dumplings were well seasoned and had amazing flavor and I really enjoyed the golden fried zucchini. As for the brisket, OMG, so tender, falling apart, and just this unforgettable smoky flavor. The wings were perfectly cooked and the sauce had a great kick to it! Last year I absolutely loved my first visit here. Today (about a year later) I've decided I probably never need to return. They weren't busy at all so we sat down right away. Server came right away and she was friendly. Food was mediocre. The complimentary hush puppies were probably the only thing I liked out of the whole meal. We opted to split a 521 platter grilled chicken, ribs, fries and beans. The meat was ok. I liked the chicken even though it was drenched in way too much sauce and my bf said the ribs were blah. Beans were good but the fries were horrible. They distinctively tasted like old grease. Even dipped in ketchup they were not good. We called the waitress over and told her what was going on and after a moment of silence post complaint we just asked to try the Mac and cheese instead. Eh..bland and flavorless. Definitely not the mac I was hoping for. We were up-charged $2 on the bill for the mac which wasn't a huge issue (would of been nice to know but w/e) but it was weird that no one every apologized or looked into the issue that we originally complained about. A manager even came over to ask how everything was, we told him about the fries and he didn't say anything just brought us over wet naps and walked away. Maybe this was just an off day but outside of getting some hush puppies to go I can't see myself coming back here again. read more

The new owners Tony & Meri are such nice people and the food is elevated from the previous owners. New menu items and fully remodeled bar which is beautiful. I'm writing this review a year after we went and I'm trying to remember everything, but I'll be honest, I don't. Here's what I do remember... I remember coming here and it was not busy. We were greeted immediately and were seated just as quickly. It was lunch time and we had two servers - one was being trained. It was a pleasant experience. Nothing was too complicated that day. We asked what they recommended because why not? It was our first time here and why not test their knowledge of what they serve. That's a thing, right? (The answer is always "yes.") I couldn't tell you what I ordered, but I'm sure I took a picture of it on my phone... alas, I'm typing this review on my laptop. I recall the food was good and remember thinking we'd probably come back because the atmosphere was nice and so was the service. I feel like the food must have been pretty good that day. We moved to the area the month after this visit. It is now over a year that I'm writing this review and we have not made it back. It's not because we live far away. In fact, I could probably walk here on a not so hot or humid day. I should make it a point to get back and write a better review because the day we came, I left 5 stars, but not the actual review, so it must have been a pretty good visit. So we were looking forward to some bbq. I noticed on the yelp reviews it mentioned this was a family owned business. So, instead of going to the usual Macs Speed Shop or something, we thought the quality of food would be better here. One good thing about this place is that they have Blue Moon on draft. Yeah ! My husband got a German draft beer and both of us liked that also. The waitress was a sweetheart and brought us hushpuppies. Omg these were soooo good. I haven't had hushpuppies this good since Hyman's in Charleston. Who knows, maybe they are using their mix because they are THAT good. This set up high expectations for the rest of the meal, which unfortunately fell flat. My husband got the grilled chicken with bbq sauce on it. It was just ok. To me, it was like a thin slice of breast you'd buy at Sam's Club that was pan fried in a grillpan to give it grill marks. Otherwise, it had no texture or flavor. I got the combo with the same chicken and ribs. If you must stop here, definitely get the ribs. They were meaty and flavorful. I got the collard greens and baked beans. Again, no flavor and the collards weren't really cooked down enough. They were tasteless and watery, while somewhat dry... like, how is that even possible? My husband got the fries as a side and they were limp and no seasoning. *sigh* Well, perhaps the pulled pork or pulled chicken options are better. The waitress did suggest those instead. During our annual trek to SC to buy fireworks for the 4th of July we decided to eat here before heading home. Wife and I both ordered a regular pulled pork barbeque sandwich with red slaw. The sandwich was packed with barbeque which had a nice smoky flavor and lots of bark. You could also see the pink smoke ring in the meat. We also got a complementary bowl of hushpuppies that were two bites size balls with a hint of sweetness that were good. Fries were standard food service crinkle cut fries. Choice of three sauces, a tomato based sauce, a mustard based sauce and an Eastern Carolina/Lexington style vinegar dip. Our server Joseph was good and checked on frequently and offered us refills. The only reason I didn't rate this place higher is they have a bar up front and numerous times during our meal people at the bar got way, way louder than we would have liked for them to be which distracted from our meal. If we had wanted to eat in a very loud bar type atmosphere, then we would have gone to a bar. With drinks, tax and tip it was a hair over $30. While we liked the barbeque, we only stopped here because were in the area and don't know if we come back down for fireworks next year if we would stop here again due to noise level coming from the bar. read more

We all happened to order the same thing - pulled pork sandwich with a side. I actually liked the pork with their tomato based sauce. Kevin just thought it was okay. It's hard to give these places anything more than just okay when you have had Midwood Smokehouse bbq. The fries were just okay, but I liked the creamy and cheesy macaroni and cheese! Living less than a minute away, I have only made it by 521 two times since they opened. But, they sure do serve some good 'Que. They don't short you in the amount of food they give you either and for a pretty good price! I think it's smart (if you don't eat a lot) to get the two meat plate or tray [depending on the number of sides you want] and it will end up being two meals. That's what I did, as you see pictured, I doubled up on the chopped pork. The second half was taken to work for lunch the next day. Though I didn't care for the green beans, the overall plate was tasty! The QuietDogs, as a complimentary muncher, were a nice fried treat! QuietDogs, you ask? Yeah ... HushPuppies! This place has the best ribs! I'm not a huge fan of ribs, but when I get them, this is my go-to place. The BBQ sauce is fantastic, sweet yet tangy. I have had a variety of menu items, all of which have been wonderful. The mac & cheese is delicious and I recommend it as your side dish. The coleslaw here comes in two varieties, red or white. I love coleslaw but I am not a fan of either of their coleslaws here. The green beans are very flavorful. The hush puppies are fine but they don't have enough onion in them for my likes. While the food is great, the service is hit or miss. Most of the time the service is great but there have been occasions where I felt like I wasn't valued as a customer or felt rushed during my meal.
