2nd time visiting this location and probably be the last. The wait for breakfast to come out is insane. There was no wait time to get seated on a Saturday morning and I can understand why now. I woke up this morning wanting to grab breakfast for my family and placed an online order around 11:00 AM. Somehow, the pickup time was pushed to 2:01 PM, which was clearly not the time I selected when placing the order. I called the restaurant to see if the pickup time could be adjusted. I spoke with an employee named Sidney, who asked me to hold and then hung up the phone. When I called back, my call was not answered. However, when we called again from my partner's phone, Sidney answered immediately. As someone who works professionally with the public, I was extremely disappointed by this level of customer service. I moved here about a year ago, and the Famous Toastery locations back home operate exceptionally well. My company even orders food for us from the Famous Toastery in Charlotte, and we have never experienced anything like this. When I spoke with the manager, Susan, she informed us that we would receive a refund. We also explained what had happened with the employee, but the situation seemed to be excused rather than addressed, which made the experience even more disappointing. A team is only as good as its leadership, and unfortunately this experience has left a very bad impression. read more

Very very slow to get some basic breakfast food. 50 minutes for a basic 3 top. You all need to figure out how to balance your door dash/mobile orders and house orders. Literally saw same DD driver come in and out 3x before we got our food in addition to the countless others. Server tried her best though to keep us updated and drinks topped off. read more

Valerie and Amber didn't have much to do before I walked in and even less while I figured out what I needed... had an hour before I had to check in at the power plant so I had time to dawdle. eventually decided on the quiche plus fruits but there wasn't any quiche and before I could ask there weren't any crepes too... so how about the classic eggs benedict? poached? plus fruits? and icy water and coffee? great! soon enough I have foods in front of me but I'm a little puzzled by the portion. my recollection is that this used to be bigger? but in all fairness many things from before the plague are bigger in memory than reality... and it tastes good and fresh which might be a little more importanter but size matters some... except for coffee. regular size coffee black is perfect as long as I can get a fresher or two. anyway, service was warm and friendly, my breakfast was delicious and I'll probably be back if I'm in the area which isn't often. read more

The staff were all wonderful. I worried when we walked in on a Saturday morning and it wasn't busy. They were out of several things we always get at a Famous Toastery. The food that did come out was cold. The toast was cold and tough. Would had loved to had more coffee. Never asked to refill (coffee) the only thing that was decent. I can't imagine the doors can continue to stay open. We will drive a few extra miles for better food. read more

Service didn't exist waited a while to be served same as the table next to us. Once we were greeted server never checked back in and another server eventually took our order but forgot the coffee ordered and messed up the eggs. Then never saw a server again until we asked yet another server for the check and a box and she forgot the box as well. Cute little restaurant with a lot of options. They have a full breakfast menu and a full lunch menu. I really liked my unsweetened tea. Service was fantastic. Very attentive and quick! Somewhat overpriced for what you get. Servers were nice but to charge 3.50 for a drink and not be offered a refill wasn't good. Food was OK. I understand some can't eat salt, but to serve grits without salt is like drinking creamy water. It's hard to salt grits once they are cooked. Toast wasn't really toasted, and bacon had a good flavor but was WAY undercooked. Eggs were good. Nice atmosphere. There are dishes you can get there that you can't get anywhere else so if price is not a question and you want variety - you'll probably like it. My food order was not correct, tried to call restaurant, voice mailbox is full. Wasted my money trying to get a decent breakfast. Jason - someone from the restaurant contacted me and stated there was an issue with the phone service and the kitchen had ran out of the missing food item I didn't receive. The person stated they would figure out if/how I could get reimbursed for the missing food item. We go to the Fort Mill location quite often and really enjoy it, so we were excited to see that there is a location not far from the house we are moving to in Lake Wylie. We stopped in here while moving some things in to the new house, the place was roughly half full so we were able to find a table right away. Usually we come for breakfast or brunch, but this was the first time we've tried the lunch menu. I ordered the Rueben and my wife ordered the Turkey & Brie melt. Both were quite good, though the pasta salad could use some work (a bit heavy handed with the pesto). I was impressed with the breakfast menu choices. I was unimpressed with everything else. The food was way overpriced. Typical items were in the $14-$17 range. I might pay these amounts if I was dining at a 4 Star Hotel. Note: The online menu conveniently excludes prices. The wait time from placing the order to having it brought to the table was reasonable considering that they were busy. Once delivered the side dish of potatoes were cool to the touch. I had to ask for them to be reheated. Omelets are hard to mess up but they found a way to make it runny on the inside. The coffee was extremely weak and at $3.85 per cup, a total rip-off. My partner ordered a Wrap that was to include Feta cheese. It didn't have any. Not happy. Not going back. read more

This is my second trip to The Famous Toastery and I had another good meal. It was early and the place wasn't busy. I was seated promptly and brought a steaming hot cup of coffee which was really good. Not the same old run of the mill coffee l'm used to around here. I scanned over the menu and settled on The Western Omelette. In about 10 minutes my meal arrived. A little Cracked Black Pepper, a few dashes of Texas Pete, and I dug into what turned out to be a pretty good Breakfast. Just had breakfast here. We got the bill before the food.....how nice. Tea and coffee were $4 each....that's a Starbucks price! As I neared the end of my black coffee I noticed the torn top portion of a Stevia packet in the bottom of my cup...when the waitress asked if I wanted a refill I told her what I found and she apologized and then said, "well, look at the bright side, at least it was cleaned in the dishwasher." read more

Lake Wylie has a Toast location now. It's amazing how they converted a Burger King into to this new location. For the first time, we were able to walk in and get a table right away. Not sure if people just don't know about this location yet or if it was because we came an hour before closing. But we'll take it. The concept is the same as other locations.Every server is your server. And the menu has a variety of breakfast dishes along with some lunch options. I tried something different, the avocado Benedict with home fries. The avocado served as the base verses a bread. It was good but I wish it had a little more flavor. The home fries are always delicious. Hubby got his usual, the stuffed French toast. Service was great. Prices are a little high, but it's a nice treat every once in a while. Decent spot, and one of the only breakfast spots in the nearby area (other than Waffle House). The service is usually pretty good and friendly, but there isn't anything special about their food. We have had breakfast as well as lunch items (sandwiches, wraps, etc). The food isn't bad, it is just ok. We haven't ever had to send anything back, but it's nothing to write home about. We have since found some better spots in Rock Hill. We stop in here occasionally, though, when we want something that isn't fast food, and we are in the area. read more

Came here for my first date with a beautiful lady but this place ended up making it very embarrassing... She was hungry and so was I, but it seemed to be impossible to get the cook to make our food to order...We ended up asking for the manager but she didn't seem to take the situation seriously. We like the food and the service is generally good and consistent. Can't justify more than 3 stars because this place can't seat people efficiently, and haven't been able to since they opened. Every time we come the tables are 1/3 to 1/2 open, and they inevitably tell you it will be a 20 minute wait. Eventually you get seated at a table that has been ready for the entire wait period! Extremely frustrating. No telling how much revenue they give up by not turning tables well. If this want a one time event, I wouldn't even comment. It happens every Saturday or Sunday we have been. On a Wednesday morning we decided to go for breakfast. Upon arrival 3 existing customers were seated. We seated ourselves as requested by the waiter. There were at least 4 employees chatting at the bar. After a few minutes another couple arrived and seated themselves as well. We still had not been acknowledged by anyone in the establishment. The couple arriving after us was immediately served coffee etc. After 10 minutes we were not acknowledged or served. We left with no concern from any of the 5 employees at the restaurant.
