Called ahead to see if there was a wait, so i could add my name to the waitlist. they told me it was a 40 minute wait. i told them i wanted to sit in the patio. they said it was empty and i could just come in and a table would be available. no need to be wait listed. So we got the seasonal menu the "million dollar sandwich" and the "short rib poutine hash". It seemed like this place was going to be our new go to for breakfast because we've seen the lines go out the door the past times we've been there. We were definitely wrong. The food and service was "meh". What I mean is we were seated but was forgotten for at least 10 minutes and we were in the middle of the restaurant. Also, it was not full like the past days we've seen it. Maybe understaffed? The food we ordered, the million dollar sandwich my wife said is pretty good. Nice crispy bacon, with sausage and egg but the side salad had no dressing or very light so it didn't have any flavor. For $10 I feel we could have made that. I got the short rib poutine. They over cooked my over easy eggs. The yolk was completely cooked, and the food was towards the salty side. Also, the potato to short rib was disproportionate. Now I'm not expecting an equal ratio but it should be enough to where you notice there's rib while eating the potato and not just potato and eggs. For $13 I definitely would not get again. We probably would have said something to the waiter but they only came when we got our food and when it was time to pay. So, yeah definitely not going back. Not sure why they had those lines out the door those past days we've went at this area but I'd rather just have my oatmeal with peanut butter at home. Came here to eat and I only have two words ABSOLUTELY NOT! My waffle was cold, stiff and burned. And yes it was fresh out of the kitchen this way. The grits lack flavor....it was like water soup. Ok I hate to have to leave this review but I feel it's time. Also it's important to know which restaurants in our area actually want our business. I have been coming here since they opened in the Townlake/Cypress area with my family, friends, and partners. Today was the last straw. We put our name on the list for a 15- 20 minute wait, only for them to try and sit my party of 5 at a 4 ppl booth. The hostess wanted one of us to sit in the isle. As you can imagine this would be very uncomfortable. This misaligned seating has happened before as well. It is as though they do not want "us" to be comfortable. I believe they must have new management or maybe their true colors are showing. I also tried to resolve with the manger and they refused to speak with me. The bacon didn't add any unique flavor or experience to this dish; I could barely taste the bacon at all. If anything the bacon took away from the cornbread, it was hard and tasteless, which didn't fit in with a cornbread that's tough to begin with. Sunday morning visit was fast to get table. Used the get in line in the website. The the was good. It was not the first a First Watch but the first visit this location. Not pleased the waitress, waited a while to greet us when we sat at our table. Waiting for coffee. Note we really like First Watch coffee. See pictures of our meals. Subpar at best, didn't even finish my meal. The presentation of the food was nice, even looking at the bowl no barbacoa was present. I had to move the chips and as you see in the second photo circled in black that is all the barbacoa given in this bowl. Not worth the $14.99 for this. Also the pancake was overcooked, I even tried both sides. Also would've been nice if our waitress would've came by to check on us to make sure everything was OK but that didn't happen during this visit. This location is only a couple of weeks old. The service is amazing and attentive. Food comes fairly quickly. The tables are somewhat spaced apart, but their partitions haven't been put up. We were informed that they will be up soon. I really like the variety of choices on the kids menu which I don't find very often at breakfast/brunch places. Great new spot to eat close to home. Leon was a very nice and helpful in explaining the new policies and menu options. I had the sunrise granola bowl and banana nut muffin, both were fantastic! The team by the front door was on top of it as well. They offered a warm greeting upon arrival and held the door open for guests at departure. Nice touch! Side note to guests, these guys are working hard to open a restaurant during a pandemic so no need to be a jerk to the servers here or at any other restaurant you choose to dine in. Have you tried their bread? I love bread, and I try to order it at every breakfast place. You expect a breakfast place to have good bread and good coffee. The bread here is soooo good, and they slice it nice and thick too. True artisanal bread! You can even buy a loaf and take it home. I would give this chain 5 stars just on the bread, BUT let's talk about the coffee. Oh, First Watch, the coffee is thin and flavorless, is it Folgers? Nothing wrong with Folgers, if that is your thing, but the American palate has become sophisticated and you can't serve watered down coffee. Also, if you aspire to be a favorite breakfast place, can you please serve fresh cream instead of the tasteless little pre-packaged cups? Your dish offerings are nice and tasteful. So many good options I also got a cold brew coffee but it was a major let down so I wouldn't recommend it. They don't do refills and they load it up with ice so it's basically a waste of money. We recently took our large family to breakfast at First Watch. The food was perfect for everyone (for the vegan, the meat eaters and the the gluten free diners). The BEST PART of our meal was the EXCEED EXPECTATIONS SERVICE we received from our server, "ZOIE". She was knowledgeable, friendly and exceptionally attentive to the large group.
