The food is good but the service is horrible. My boyfriend and I sat down at our table around 8am and no one even came over to talk to us or take our orders until 8:50am. Not even waters were brought to our table. The restaurant wasn't even busy at the time either. I get when things are busy and there's a rush at a restaurant but that was not the case at all. People who came in 20 minutes after us got their food BEFORE we even ordered. When I asked why the wait was so long they said "we didn't know who had this section of tables". Like seriously? So that just means you don't serve them? By the time our order was taken I was ready to just go to a drive through instead. read more

Honestly, I don't get what the big hype was around this place. When they first opened up in Colerain, a lot of people had gone on and on about how much better the food is than other breakfast places so I finally decided to go in and get some pancakes, bacon and eggs. Everything was serviceable, but that's the highest praise I can give it. The service was just okay. The pancake I got (some peanut butter pancake) didn't taste like anything but a normal pancake, except it was big, and the coffee tasted like normal Folgers. Like I said, it was fine, but not worth the price or the hassle of leaving my own place to get. The one thing that I did find excellent though was the Avocado Toast. Cheers on that. read more

Typically I am a fan of first watch, the food was always good and the atmosphere is always great. This time around, I​ went by myself to grab​ some breakfast before work. WhenI​i came the staff was very friendly, they allowed me to sit at the community table, which I guess is for those who come by themselves and dont mind strangers sitting next to them. I was fine with it since I was a party of one. My waitress came over pretty fast to take my order which I thought was great since I was somewhat on a time crunch. I ordered the farm fresh hash with coffee. I was a fan for the fact that they had dairy free creamer. The food came out pretty fast and piping hot. All great things. So now you are asking, why i only gave 3 stars. After i got my food, the waitress never once came back to check on me to see how I was doing or if the food tasted ok. I had to ask another waitress if I could possibly get some water since mine never came back. Once I was done eating, I waited 10 minutes before asking the host if she can get my check. I thought this was unacceptable. Ive never been treated like this at a first watch. Needless to say, I dont think that I'll be making a vist back to this first watch. read more

A few weeks ago, me and my eating companion decided to have lunch at First Watch. We had gone there before and always enjoyed the food and setting. We got there right at noon which concerned me as I was worried that we would have a long wait, but we were promptly seated. We ordered and got our drinks and looked at the menu; 20 minutes later our order was finally taken. It is not that our server was ignoring our table, because no table had service: as she explained she was dealing with a big phone order. Another 18 minutes later our food finally arrived. My companion had pancakes and I had one of their Eggs Benedict dishes with a side of fruit. I tasted my companion's pancakes, the lemon ricotta ones, and they were good. I particularly enjoyed the lemon curd that was on top. My Eggs Benedict were fine, but would have been better without the sauce. The sauce, a hollandaise, is traditionally made from butter, egg yolks and some flavoring. In this case it seemed to be an approximation as it had none of the expected richness. My Eggs Benedict platter also had a cut-out section of the First Watch's menu; the one titled THE HEALTHIER SIDE, which had been carefully placed under my fruit cup. At first glance it looked like a coaster so, it took some time for me to realize that it was not. I do not appreciate a restaurant's effort at educating me on proper food choices. If management is so bothered by my supposedly unhealthy eating habits so as to add an educational hand out to my food, then they should remove the offending items from their menu. In summary, if you want a side of instruction on PROPER food selection with your food order then this is the right establishment for you, otherwise try to ignore the "education". read more

I normally have a good experience at this location. However today I called in a To go order and was informed my meal would be ready in 10 minutes. When I arrived it wasn't ready and the associate said it would be ready in a few minutes. I didn't receive my food until almost 30 minutes later. When I got home I noticed there wasn't any salad dressing on my salad or on the side which comes with the meal. Not sure what is going on today but I am very disappointed. read more

For a chain, this restaurant is quite good. They even handle poached eggs well! Also, they are located in Cincinnati, which has a disappointing dearth of good brunch options. Kudos for that. With a small investment, they could up their game with the coffee. If they did so, I would go much more often. Don't not go just because people like me post three stars. I loved the food! The works omelet (minus onions, of course) was delicious. The mushrooms were my favorite part of it, although the entire thing was great - so much filling in the omelet! The house made preserves were to die for - not too sweet, just right - my only complaint is that the cup of them I got with my meal was tiny. The coffee was wonderful, not weak at all, which I've run into at some restaurants. All in all, my first visit to First Watch was fantastic - it's just a wee bit pricey, but considering the quality if the food, I thought it was worth it. A great addition to Colerain! read more

I visited at 7:30 am on Sunday. I ordered eggs benedict. The order arrived and the ham was regular ham as for a sandwich. There was a cold sliced tomato between the ham and the bread. The hollandaise sauce was not visible on the eggs but there was a runny watery sauce in a thin line around the bread. The bread was soggy. Parts of it the dish actually cold. The rest would barely be called lukewarm. I sent it back and asked them to leave off the tomatoes. The same plate came back with new eggs on it but no change. It was the same meal I had sent back! We were never served any water. Upon leaving a visit to the restroom found overflowing garbage can and sanitary item container. This is a 8 in the morning by now. The room stank. I am glad I couldn't see the kitchen. An hour later I am home with a very watery intestinal problem. I paid $40.00 and got my husband to eat somewhere he didn't want to go in the first place. read more

They just opened one this one in Colerain Township and I am happy that they did. I've never had an issue at any other First Watch that I've been to and this visit wasn't any different. The service and food was top notch and I plan on visiting them frequently. I have enjoyed the food, but not been happy with the service. I have had trouble getting a refill on my iced tea and was not brought the bread that was supposed to be included with my salad. I thought the problem might be because I was a single female diner, but it was not any better when I went with a friend. We have been to the Madison Rd and Montgomery Rd locations and got excellent service. I eat out a lot and don't think my other sites would consider me a critical diner. read more

If you are not familiar with the area this is right in front of the Northgate Mall on the Colerain Ave. side, in a portion of the building where the old TGI Friday's was located. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and it was much larger than I expected from the outside. I went for breakfast on a beautiful Sunday and the patio wasn't open yet, but this was still during April. There was a short wait, but there is available seating while you wait and a coffee pot by the door so you can have a coffee while you wait. All the food was excellent, my nephew (the picky eater) came and he ordered Chocolate Chip Pancakes which were huge! I had a yummy Salmon Frittata and my boyfriend had a salad/sandwich combo. His said his sandwich was good ,but the salad was too dry. My only complaint is you can definitely tell that the restaurant has just opened and the staff is still getting their bearings. While we waited we saw many open tables or tables that were sat at half capacity and our server could have been more attentive. Still that is something I think will improve with time and the food and wide menu options will bring me back again and again. read more

Easily the worst First Watch on the west side. I used the NoWait app to have a table for 5 and we arrived at the recommended time to just have to wait as if we never even used the app. Finally got the table and they didnt have it prepared for 5. The mug on our table had lipstick on it. The two of us decided to order while we waited for the other 3 and our server was very nice. We were brought our pancakes and sides to see one side of Goetta was just a pile of mush, one pancake was cooked well done on the bottom and the other was black over the entire bottom. I was brought out a new pancake and it was nearly undercooked as if it was teaching me a lesson for sending the burnt one back. One of the 3 who arrived at our table didnt receive silverware and politely asked a woman who brought food out to our table and she just walked away without a smile or much consideration. We waited and then finally one of us got up to grab our own silverware when the lady came out and handed the silverware while rolling her eyes. She was informed we were about to just grab our own and she again rolled her eyes and walked away and shook her head and held up a hand to say "whatever". The only positive thing was the server (DEFINITELY not the woman who was bringing food out from the kitchen). This restaurant is loud, slow, and appears to be carried by the name of the restaurant alone. I think I have had a positive experience about twice over the last year. If you have the choice, skip this one and go to one of the many other restaurants on this road. read more

Update Review: Contacted by First Watch Customer Service and given a certificate complimentary breakfast, brunch, or lunch for two on their behalf to give them a try. So today, 7/16/16 we revisited the Colerain location again. First experience was great, get seated immediately (visited at 1.47 pm). We misunderstood the server and got coffee for both of us, my husband offered to "returned" but I said let's be less demanding and just take it. We did ordered the healthier options, the juices (what we really wanted to order). We each ordered smoked brisket hash (so-so, some parts tasted like old oil, I don't know if it was the skillet that brought that smell and taste or they cooked the potatoes in old oil), salmon & veg frittata (very good, totally recommended), and a bowl of soup of the day (Italian Wedding) to share (the soup was good too). Then pay time, I gave the "complimentary certificate" and were told that my total was $ 19.08. I was surprised but paid it anyway. Outside my husband and I were laughing that we were "trapped" by the "complimentary certificate" that was only being treated as a discount voucher. Not that we can't afford to pay our meals nor tried to get freebies, but the misleading gesture was completely annoying. Went to First Watch Colerain with our guests from Texas for a Sunday Brunch. Wait time was surprisingly fast (less than 15 minutes, yippee). The wait came pretty quick as well. Then there was the problem, our foods came more than 45 minutes later, we were confused and started to think that we were forgotten. My husband and I were so embarrassed that we had to kept trying to get "eye contact" -begging for explanation- with our waitress that been trying to avoid us by doing other stuffs or went around from the far side from our table. She did finally came to let us know it took longer time, do we need more drinks? Our foods were superb (as always) but the waiting time for the food really took 3 stars from what supposed to be a 5 stars experience that we used to have with First Watch. read more

One thing I like about First Watch is that they have seasonal menus. The last season had shrimp and grits on the menu which I really enjoy from here. Yesterday morning their seasonal menu had changed so I tried the crab and asparagus omelet for the first time and I enjoyed it. It comes with their lightly dressed greens and wheat toast, I substituted the greens for fruit and the toast for an English muffin. They were more than happy to accommodate my requests and there was no upcharge. They also have fresh juices, the seasonal menu had a juice called strawberry smash (strawberries, lemon and basil). The drink was absolutely delightful. I always order my juices from their without ice, so it comes in a smaller cup but it doesn't get watered down before I make it home. They have no issue with this request, I only mention this because I ordered a juice at another First Watch (Hyde Park) and the man seemed to have a huge issue with my request for no ice, I had to let him know that the Northgate location is always able to do it without a discussion about it. I've learnt my lesson and only go to the Northgate location now, since my food is always prepared as I like, packaged for pickup in the specified time they give and their employees are very friendly here. The food is good BUT the service is horrible. I have tried it three times since they opened and they have yet to get my order right. How hard is it to get a Salad without cheese? I have ordered the same Salad, Honey Pecan Chicken Salad, three times, each time without cheese. They have managed to put cheese in the Salad EVERY TIME. This last visit the server put NO Combo instead of NO Cheese; what was up with that? Overall the food was good; my husband and my friend were happy. I was also little dissatisfied with the time it takes for a server to greet and take the order. I sat for over 10 minutes before a server approached with coffee. I had her take the order right then as I was afraid she would take another 10 minutes before coming back again. We then waited over 20 minutes for our food: Traditional Breakfast and a salad. It is definitely not the place to go on a lunch hour! I will give them a few weeks to work out the newness of the staff before I go back. read more

I love this place! I am in town on vacation and my boyfriend chose it based on Yelp reviews. I had no idea of what we were waking into. When I entered and saw a 'locally grown' sign, I was excited! I live in LA and places like this are plentiful. I honestly didn't expect to see something like this in Cincinnati. I was pleasantly surprised! There was a large menu filled with healthy options and I had difficulty choosing one thing. I finally ordered the bacon and avocado omelet with a fruit bowl and whole grain toast. The food was delicious, the eggs were cage free and the ingredients were fresh! I loved everything about this spot; the ambiance was casual and well decorated and the waitress was friendly! I LOVED the decor at this location!! The whole "reclaimed " theme! I was there this morning and had the Bacado omelette. It was yummy! I've been to other locations but I liked this one the best!
