First time dining at this restaurant. Hostess not welcoming or as friendly upon entry. I had to say hello and good morning to her . She just went right in to ask how many. Very loud and hard to hear one's conversation. Service was friendly but servers seemed a little stressed for a Sunday breakfast/brunch hour at 10am. Table service was really nice. Water served warm, had to ask for sugar, salt, pepper, and extra napkins. Took awhile to have order brought to the table. Ordered the Bumblebee Bowl, yogurt was served at room temperature, granola was chewy, and not all fruits listed were served as noted on the menu. Disappointing Brunch - Cold and Overcooked. I was really looking forward to brunch here, but unfortunately, the food was a massive letdown. Almost everything that arrived at our table was poorly prepared. The scramble was completely burnt, the toast was rock-hard and nearly impossible to chew, and the potatoes were terrible. To top it all off, the entire meal was served cold. The service itself was adequate, but the kitchen's performance completely ruined the meal. We didn't have time for a new meal to be made. I went to the Sleepy Bee with my eating mates and ordered the Cinnamon Cakes, which are pancakes covered in cinnamon sugar and topped with cream cheese icing. Unfortunately, it took quite a long time for our food to arrive. When it finally came out, the pancakes were burnt while the eggs were still undercooked. When we asked for a coffee refill, they said sure and went to the kitchen. About 10 minutes later, they came back without any coffee. Then, roughly five minutes after that, they finally brought us some. Despite the issues with the food and service, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. The room had honeycomb-patterned tiles and even honeycomb-shaped shelves (yes, apparently that's possible). My wife thought the burrito was mostly the tortilla and had a plain taste even with the sauces. I tried it and agreed with her. The service was spotty. Not once were we asked for a refill. I had been to Sleepy Bee over in Oakley years ago and since I was in town for a few days, I decided to try it again for old times sake. Oakley didn't have a pickup option online for some reason so I came out here. When I came to get my order, they thankfully had 15 minute parking spots. The parking lot was tight! Almost no spots left. I ordered the Queen City Bee breakfast sandwich which had egg, goetta, apples, and arugula on a milk bun. The goetta and apples made the sandwich unique. I really liked those two ingredients the best. But it was still a heavy sandwich. The bread was dense. And it could've been more flavorful overall. It also came with a side salad with a vinaigrette that was delicious. I also got a latte with milligans syrup. Not sure what makes it unique but it was good! I'd def come back for a latte again! Sleepy Bee has always been a solid choice for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. I came here after a workout class with friends and had The Queen City Bee. The sweet and savory taste of the sandwich is delicious and the milk bun ties the ingredients together nicely. Our server was very helpful when we were deciding on our sides. The interior is decorated with bee merchandise with a lot of information about how important bees are for our ecosystem and food supply. The local farms and vendors were listed, as well. I liked knowing I was supporting local farms and businesses with my meal. My meal was an incredible way to start my day. I went to the College Hill Sleepy Bee a couple years ago and remember the options being a bit trendy. Today I came and was ready for a savory brunch. Sleepy Bee is perfect for brunches, they've got plenty of options from sandwiches to scrambles to pancakes and sides including potatoes and such. I got the Chorizo Scramble this time. I was a little concerned that the chorizo would be spicy (as a spice sensitive person) but it was perfect and our server put the salsa on the side. The toast paired great with it. I got the red skin potatoes and the gravy was a little sweet for me. The Apple Spice Pancakes (specialty/seasonal) were delightful with crunch in the apples and seeds, but sweetness and fluffiness in the pancake and spices. The coffee was so bad, comparable to first watch. Bitter, burnt tasting and disappointing. After paying I let our server know in private that the chef left a piece of themselves in my plate, their hair. It was really gross but I hate to send anything back so I just made her aware after. Had a bad experience. My friend got a "chopped salad" with chicken. The salad was a plain green salad with maybe 2 ounces of chicken and certainly not chopped. When showing the salad to the staff the response was that they just call it a chopped salad. Note to staff- why not call It prime rib and charge even more! My sandwich was as equally disappointing. I ate the first half thinking, "Gee, there's not much in it and is mostly bread." Picking up the second half I realized 75% of the filling was in this half. Still not a lot of what one would expect but made worse by the sloppy execution. The bread from Alleez Bakery was a whole grain which I found dry and not very tasteful. The big disappointment was the fried mash potatoes which came out room temperature.
