Okay manicure, the woman who did it hurt me with the cuticle scissors though. I've come here 5-6 times and it's been pretty good so far. Today they were not wearing masks until I said something. The man who sits in the back didn't wear a mask the whole time and let out a huge sneeze. Great! Then as my nails were drying, they took off their masks and had a big conversation right behind me. I've been going to Victoria for almost 5 years now. I followed her from Sacramento and she's the only person who who always leaves me satisfied. She listens to what you want and how you want your nails. She cares about her clients and her work. When I first started going to her I use to think I annoy her with how picky I was. She then told me that clients being picky is what helps her learn to perfect what she does and I really like that. I also love how she continuously teaches her girls all the techniques that she knows so they too can perfect their craft. She does a lot if not all her nail designs with a freestyle hand and makes it seem so effortless. I found this place over a month ago. Per all the Yelp reviews I asked for Victoria and boy was I so glad I did. She is AMAZING!! Not only is she really good at nails and her beautiful nail art she is Fast! Not fast where your nails look like the technician rushed, but she is sooo good at her craft its effortless for her. My first time there, I got a full set with 8 nail designs. I was in and out within 25min. Today I returned for a fill and color/design change and I was again handled with care but still out within 35min. It was my first time here after a recommendation from my friend and I loved my experience. I had my nails done at another salon and needed a fill or even a new set because of how ugly it grew out. The other salon made my nails look almost like an almond shape when I wanted coffin. It was also really thick. I came here debating whether I should get a fill or just a new set but I decided to get a fill. I made an appointment ahead of time and waited only 10 minutes before I was taken care of. I had Tammy do my fill and she was beyond wonderful. I told her I wanted coffin shape and to thin it (how I originally wanted it when I got them done at the other salon). I asked if it was possible to fix it since my set grew out so ugly and she said she can. She was very attentive and made sure I was happy with each step she did. She even helped me choose a color and she also tested it before she painted all my nails, making sure I was satisfied with the color. The pink I chose was too white toned so she suggested a more pastel pink and it looked a lot better. I'm giving them 4 stars because of the price. It was $36 for a fill which is the same price I paid for a full acrylic set with gel at another place. I would come here again because of how good the fill was but the price makes me think twice. read more

For the last year I've been on the lookout for a solid, positive experience at a nail salon in Davis. I've been to ones that were pretty but did a slap-dash job, and ones that did a great job but the ambiance was really, really lacking. FINALLY I feel like I've found a place I'll go back to! Making the appointment was easy - you know how sometimes you call and they're like "NAIL SALON HOW MAY I HELP YOU" and it's always a little jarring? When I called the lady who picked up was very pleasant and booking the appointment was easy. When I got there my stylist was very communicative - asking if I needed the water a different temperature or a different pressure during the massage. They did a beautiful, thorough job on my nails, and had a nice selection of pedicure types depending on how much you want to spend and how fancy you're feeling. Also - they have SO many gorgeous designs to pick from! I always want designs but since most places don't have examples I usually don't get them. Here they had probably at least fifty types you could choose from, so I picked one and it turned out stunning, just like I'd hoped. I heard about First Lady Nails through friends and at first I was a little apprehensive about trying a new nail salon in Davis. But fortunately, I was not disappointed! I was overall satisfied with my ombré nails. Only thing I would note is that a couple times I had to tell my nail tech that there were smudges on my nails and she fixed them but I would still expect her to see it herself and correct them on her own. After spending 2.5 hours and $60 on a full set of acrylics with a design I ended up with the worst nails I have ever gotten. The design is nothing like I had asked for, the lines are messed up and mixed together, the technician used their nail to push in my cuticles over and over, not even once using a tool to do so. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I had high expectations given their reviews on Yelp, so I came here twice and was disappointed both times. I first made an appointment with Victoria for a french ombre. I came on time and was met with very confused workers when I told them I had an appointment with Victoria. They told me Victoria left because of an emergency, which is understandable, but they didn't even seem to know that I had made an appointment and were scrambling to figure out who booked it for me. On top of that, I couldn't get the requested ombre nails because 1) Victoria was the only person who knew how to do them and 2) they ran out of the powder. I just got a regular gel fill, which was okay but one nail had a nick in it and another nail had a dent where the top coat didn't settle properly. BUT THEN... I came back three weeks later to take off my acrylics and get a gel manicure on my natural nails. Taking off my nails was borderline traumatizing. She took my acrylics off by wedging a plastic extension tip in between my natural nails and my acrylic nails to try and pop them off. This in itself hurt A LOT, and she said she was doing it this way because it was much faster than the traditional route. It only got worse because she then used a cuticle cutter to hack away at the more stubborn nails, and she was so aggressive that it cut through the center of my index finger nail, I screamed from the pain, and she had to rush to get a towel and apply pressure because I was bleeding (?!?!?! I'm being serious). She was pretty shaken up after this so my manicure did not look that great. PLUS I had asked specifically that she kept the length of my natural nails, but she had to apply powder on 5 of my nails because she jacked them up that bad. That defeated the purpose of removing my acrylics so my nails could breathe. The gel polish on my other nails began peeling the next day. Tried to give them another chance but I will not be coming here again. Granted she was very apologetic but I still had to pay full price after two hours of that BS. Nope nope nope never again read more

This place is under new management and I'm lovin' it. My mom and I got seated within 1 minute of walking in for pedicures without appointments. The place doesn't wreak of acetone because they keep it well ventilated, so you don't need to feel like you're choking on cancer fumes while trying to relax. My pedicure didn't feel rushed at all, and the massage was amazing. I'm the most indecisive person, so when I decided I hated the polish color I chose (Miami-stripper- pink wasn't working on me), they were really patient while I went and picked another. I honestly felt pampered and the (slightly steep) $22 for the pedicure didn't feel outrageous. I got what I paid for, and my feet feel great! read more

I came here to do acrylic and gel for my birthday which was on July 11th the lady talked me through to get the dip powder instead of gel and acrylic because it will last longer and it's more natural but more expensive than acrylic, i accepted it. After 1:30 into the process she told me that she used the wrong product and she was supposed to use number 1 but she used number 3 instead. I was in rush so i said it's ok. She told me that she will going to give me a discount which she didn't by the way. I ended up with nails that seems to be a 5years old girl job so i went home and i used my own nail polish. Now one week after at July 18th two of the so called long lasting nails broke off and i went to the store to fix it but they told me that she is not there and they can't help me to fix it!!.... Don't do your nails here because they don't know what they are doing, they just want to charge you more and more. read more

I was there about a week ago around 11 am. Pretty quiet at that hour and the one distinct detail about this good but not spectacular place: there were 2 men to the 3 women who also did mani/pedi. An older man did my mani/pedi which was a little weird, but it wasn't the first time. Overall service was as expected, cleanliness was good. Came here for a gel manicure and pedicure before my maternity photos and my experience was AWFUL! The lady said I needed gel powder because my nails were uneven so I said okay. I picked a light purple color for my nails and told her I wanted the polish for my toes to match...my nails ended up being this dark purple color and my toes were light pink. The lady doing my pedicure agreed they didn't match and the nail color was way darker than the color I picked. The lady doing my nails was rude about it. She then put gel polish over the gel powder, which looked like crap. Not to mention, she didn't bother to clean up the skin around my nails or cuticles and didn't even shape my nails evenly.
