Ok. This is my first 5 star for airport food. But it is worth it. Got a burger and it was solid. Good meat and right temp. Also I value quick service while in an airport. The manager as I walked in said "guarantee it comes out in less than 10 mins." The staff was quick and the place had a cool London pub look. Saying all that, the manager makes that place run. I watched him make sure that everyone got thier food quick. Also I left my sunglasses in my table and he ran me down to make sure I got them back. Immensely slow service, so I'm glad I had a long layover. People would come in, sit down, wait forever and eventually leave without any assistance. My order was taken quickly, but the rest was slow. The breakfast menu also says ALL breakfasts come with coffee in bold, all caps, at the top of the menu, but apparently it doesn't come with the breakfast where you get a bellini or mimosa because I was charged $3. I chose the Any Breakfast with a mixed drink, and all breakfasts include coffee, so based on their advertisement, coffee shouldn't have been extra. When I asked about it, I was told no, coffee was extra. Well then the menu shouldn't say ALL breakfasts come with coffee because now they're lying to customers. I also never got the refill I asked for repeatedly. The food was also poor quality. read more

I got to the airport way earlier than I expected and decided to take a walk to see what was available. This place is aaaaallllll the way at the furthest end of the airport. You have to walk all the way to what looks like the end of Terminal A, down a flight of stairs, then immediately up another flight of stairs and then keep walking past like 8 gates and it will be on the left, across from another unremarkable "restaurant" (Cosi). If you're interested in a walk, this is the perfect spot. As noted by everyone else, this place is pretty "whelming" - neither over nor under. The decor is fine. The service is fine. The prices are fine. The menu is fine. It's just generally fine. I ordered a shepherd's pie ($14) which came with a dressed salad with a side of a different dressing (weird). The portion was on the small side when compared to what I picture a real shepherd would eat. Not one smile, constant yawning, and looked like she just did not want to be here. I never even heard her voice. An easy stop while passing through. First thing to be aware of is that you are getting an approximated pub in the middle of an airport. This isn't going to be reflective of your local craft brewery, but they are trying. With a British pub theme (lacking the feel), it will feel like moderately comfortable territory for pubgoers. What drew me in was not the aesthetic but the folks standing outside the Firkin' telling me how it was a top 10 restaurant (per a USA Today customer poll). It is understandable that people would want to attract business, but in retrospect the carny like atmosphere was a bit annoying. I ordered the Firkin Burger which was reasonably priced and quickly made. As any other sort of pub burger, it was fairly standard, Although I asked for medium, it was made well done, beyond that, it wasn't a bad experience and a fair price point. The establishment, though small, was well maintained and clean and a decent enough stop on the way particularly when hunger pains are hitting you. Don't expect the world (or authentic England) from the Firkin & Fox, but it is a fair option when on the go. read more

I ordered today's soup which is lentil soup to go and was so happy with it since it was not salty and was nicely made. It is challenging to have good soup while traveling since most establishments in the US tend to make their soup too salty. I was in Cyprus last week and was pleased that restaurant chefs there don't typically add salt to meals that they serve and let the customers add salt to their own desired tasting. I wish restaurants in the US would also allow customers to determine whether salt should be added to their food and if so how much. That was why I was very happy to have this good not-too-salty lentil soup at this establishment today while waiting for my connecting flight. Thank you! read more

Food is good and service is awesome! Traveling to Ithaca a week ago and stopped in we were impressed we stopped again on the way back. A "British" pub without any beer from the UK on tap?? Otherwise tap list was fine. Service was quick. Minimal wait for a table on the two times I stopped in connecting to and from. The burger I got wasn't bad, but you can tell they just keep a bunch of burgers in a steam tray and slop them on to buns per order. It came out in like 3 minutes, way faster than actually cooking it to order. Was also a bit greasy. There aren't many options down this end of A terminal, so I wouldn't say avoid it, but even for airport bars, I've had better. read more

They really needed to change the oil it was disgusting. How can you mess up on fries it tasted like cardboard in my opinion. My aunt and daughter both order steak. I know right ordering steak for breakfast. I guess they wanted some good old fashion meat before flying 13 + hours. We asked for the steaks to be cooked well done one came to be medium and the other medium well done. They certainly do not know there temperatures. Run away quickly from this restaurant. Don't walk - sprint past it on your way to anything else in the airport. I would recommend the vending machines over eating here. My visit started when I was in line to get a table. I (a single) was asked to step aside for a four top. All of the diners apologized for this - the greeter, however, did not. I asked for a table and was "asked", wouldn't I prefer the bar? When I was unceremoniously dumped at the bar, it was to an uncleaned area. As I read the menu, three other people were all subsequently seated at the bar. All three were addressed, orders taken, and drinks delivered before I was approached. I say before - but actually I was never approached. Just for spite and giggles, I decided to see how long it might take them to acknowledge me. After ten minutes of watching the three servers behind the bar check their cell phones, refill other customers' drinks and perform other mundane duties (one was inexplicably pouring water from one pitcher to another and then back again), I left. The hostess that had recently sat me asked how I enjoyed my meal. "I'm sure it was wonderful", I replied, "for anyone that actually got one." Can't imagine a worse place to spend my layover time. I stopped by this restaurant on my way to Albany. We were delayed for for almost an hour and half so I decided to kill sometime there. I ordered the old dominion hop lips Ipa and sliders with fries. They had appetizer and draft special running so I tried that. The beer was cold and refreshing . The bartender was friendly and apologized for the delay and was keen on striking a conversation. The food came out it just in right time. The sliders were cooked medium and the fries were crispy. I liked the dijon mustard mayo.. I had that on the side because I was sure about the combination but it turned out to be perfect pair for the beef and cheese. The bartender offered me a cheesecake after I was done but I declined because I wanted to make room for another beer. Overall excellent experience. read more

Stopped in for lunch during layover. Ordered chicken curry - figured this should be reasonable. Unfortunately, the chick curry was probably the worst I've ever eaten. Bland and "thin" sauce without any real flavor and very "runny". I gave two stars as the rice was reasonable. Paying for lunch was comically slow - I was seated at the bar and folks near to me were becoming apoplectic about how long it took to pay (as their departure times were approaching). Restaurant may look busy but he can ALWAYS find you a seat and *expedited* service so you can make a flight, even if you are TIGHT on time. I had the worst steak ever here. It was tough and impossible to chew. The mashed potatoes were instant powdered with awful brown gravy. I expected better for $19.99. Also I've never seen plastic utensils in a restaurant this expensive. It was difficult cutting through the steak with a plastic knife. The only good thing was the lemonade. I should have paid a little more and gone to Wolfgang Puck's The Kitchen restaurant or saved some money and gone to Smashburger instead. read more
