Cute boutique located in the U district. I stopped by after having dinner at Ba Bar in the same plaza. I walked in and saw a variety of Washington themed merch. I was on vacation so I needed to pick up souvenirs for my friends back home. I couldn't help but look through all the shelves. There was an assortment of stickers, little trinkets and chocolates to choose from. It was difficult making a decision, but I ended up buying a trash panda (raccoon) and PNW themed stickers for my friends. Typically, I love this store. Today I had the apparent audacity to insist I pay the price actually posted for a product (about $8 off the price which is about a 40% discount) and didn't appreciate the attitude I got - like I was being unreasonable or even sneaky. Apparently they only use one set of signage year round and the price goes down at the holidays, or there is another product, maybe?). That doesn't make sense. I was literally buying this product because it was a great price, and had no way of knowing. Posting one price for a product and then charging another at the cash register is classic bait & switch. I didn't deserve the rudeness and will be sure to go to one of the other locations next time I am buying gifts. read more

On 9/19 I bought my grandson a cute rainmaker. On 9/21/25 I returned it. Instead of issuing a credit for $62.90 (from a $219 total purchase) they charged me again for the raincoat I returned. I didn't notice it until I was going over my Apple Pay charges today. I'd like to get this straightened out but I'm not sure how since I live in the Bay Area and don't have a receipt. read more

I loved this place, it's cute as a button and they had a lot to choose from. However, I made a bad choice. I bought a perfume that I tried in the store and absolutely loved. I don't know what happened when I purchased it. It was pricey and unfortunately, it gives me a made headache when I put it on. Unfortunately, I found this out back in California. The people working there were very nice. And I felt welcomed when in there, but I should have purchased this from Amazon. At least that way, I could have returned it easily. The perfume was so cheap, that my head hurt upon putting it on. That didn't happen in the store. I wish it had. Oh well. Expensive lesson learned. read more

I Received a gift card for Christmas 2019 that I totally forgot I had. This shows you that I rarely shop at fireworks. Here are the reasons why every time I go in that store I am followed as I am African-American and there is no doubt that's the reason why. The night I went into the store my sister said watch we're going to be followed which I already knew. I didn't realize that every employee in there was going to followed us I even went as far as walking in circles to make sure I wasn't imagining this. I spent half of my card which was $50. I wish I could just get cash for the rest of my gift card as I don't want to give them any business. Please don't support the shop until they learn how to treat all of us equally. This is a great place to get gifts and also just to peruse while you enjoy your lazy Sunday wandering around University Village shopping center. The people who work here are very helpful and don't make you feel pressured to buy anything - their products really do sell themselves. I've purchased cute earrings, necklaces, coffee mugs, purses, and baby gifts from here. Once a necklace I purchased tarnished after a couple of weeks and I brought it back to show the person at the counter. Without question they replaced it for me - now that is great customer service! This is one of those dangerous stores where you walk in needing nothing and walk out with a bag full of delights. There's a bit of everything in this store. Jewelry, candles, pranky-type goodies, and books. My favorite of last eve was a book entitled "Walter the Farting Dog" yup. That book is going to be someone's birthday present. It's easy to lose track of time amidst all the flotsam and jetsum. I think I took 3 turns around the store and I kept finding new things on each pass. I like Fireworks and this location just makes it more convenient for me to shop for birthday occasions and more. The problem for me is that I would often pick up an item and say, this is cute and then put it back down. I buy cards and small items here and there, but not all the time. Some items can be pretty overpriced. It has the most random but unique gift collection/idea, which is a plus. Fireworks can get really crowded since everything is placed so close to each other. When you have like 10 people in the store, you will feel like you cannot really walk from one end of the store to the other end. read more

This is by far and away my favorite store of all time. I love the fact that their assortment is made up of novelty items from local artists. I can literally spend hours in any location just looking and admiring all the beautiful and creative pieces. They have everything from gorgous one of a kind jewelry to cute kidlet items to snarky women's novelties to George Bush toilet paper! The University Village location is my favorite though because I can bring my dog with me and they give him a treat to get him through the boredom while I parouse all the works of art, laugh at the novelties and fantasize about how each item should belong to me or someone I know! read more

Fireworks sells all kinds of things you didn't know you had a need for to spice up your life. They have multiple locations, but this is one of my favorites. It is in an older building, and it feels like an older shoppe, when it is really just a chain location that likely makes more money off of these products than we want to admit. Either way, they have some really fun things here, and it saves me the trouble of having to find it online. This location is very cozy, but the people here are friendly, so I don't feel like this is a shopping experience I want to avoid. I've spent lots of time browsing the shelves of this store wondering what may be under the next random shelf. It helps to go back, as their inventory does change pretty regularly. A great stop along the way if you're in the downtown area. Personally, I feel like this is way more fun than a location in a mall, so if you like your chains but like feeling like you're in a small business, this is the location for you. read more

I finally got the string of chili pepper lights for my "kitsch"en here and realized how fun this place is to shop in with a friend. It looks a little strange to laugh hysterically out loud by yourself at a book called 'Bitter with Baggage Seeks Same'. Ditto for staring too long at anatomically correct candle people with wicks in odd places. This place has a mesmerizing mix of beautiful, funky, funny and exquisite. I love going to this shop at the u village. Great selections of fun little things! Great if you're wanting to get something special as gifts or buy uniquely yours. This shop is it. I give it five stars just for the variety of things you can find in this store! That being said My review is this recent visit last Sunday when u village had their side walk sale. Of course had to stop by this shop, got their things outside. one of their jewelry case outside had several great clearance items! Girl outside was so nice and very helpful on what is marked down and what we can get at good clearance price. Bought a few good jewelry deals, she was gracious to ring us up inside.. however the clincher is that manager.. as frazzled as she is with the busy store day kind of told the girl sales staff rudely ..who was helping us ring a sale " why are you here, you need to be outside!" I think that was rude of that manager to point that out to her staff without even saying to us..oh someone can help you ring up the sale. The manager knows I'm the only one at the cashier. counter! She acts like she's super busy mind you the store inside was fine! Later that day we came back to check other items to buy..it was almost closing but we had 30 minutes I asked one of the staff if I can get a jewelry item on clearance price which at that time was $10 she asked the manager who for the most part just wants to close the store for the day! She blurts out $20 is what we can give you and that's final price and walk away.. I don't think that manager has good customer service skills.. She is well adept maybe as a closing person merchandiser...store manager..hmm I think not! I work in management and you should have prime customer service skills and keep the store selling even if someone is buying clearance or not. read more

One good thing I can say about,Fireworks, is the consistency of the staff. I went there last night with my sister, and before going in, I told her, watch their going to follow us. Sure enough we go in and they have two people following and watching us. My sister said out loud don't racial profile us.The staff are all young people. I decided I'm not shopping at this store anymore. To the store manager,you need to train your staff better. Stop targeting black people. In fact I was in there Christmas. And I watch this young white male steal.Usually I would say some thing. On several occasions I watched people steal from the Nordstrom rack. All white people. I'm friends with the security man that works at the rack. I've helped them catch thieves several times. Again all white. So to you fireworks. I love this store! It truly is a unique store that as many other reviewers have said you can spend hours in. I have 4 young children, 2 usually in the stroller and very polite 9 &7 yr olds. They have known from a young age to not touch anything that looks like it could easily break. Whenever we come here the sales associates are more than pleasant- they don't give my kids the stare down other store give them. My kids happily find unique items and have almost as much fun as I do. Such a great store to wander through. They have all sorts of cute randomness - trinkets, jewelry, gag gifts, accessories, books, baby clothes. This is the place to go to find unique gifts for anyone. For example, during my last visit, I got adorable, super soft bunny booties for my baby nephew AND I picked up a medical marijuana storage box (gag gift) for my fiance AND I got a wine stopper with an elephant on it for myself.
