Recently closed their old smaller location down the block and reopened in this new more spacious spot. Really wonderful upgrade I gotta say. A great location to spread even more joy from artisanal & craft goods & gifts; doodads & decor, etc. The space retains a bit of that old Ballard charm, as well. Selection is really awesome. You can find things for various spaces at home; kitchen, dining, living, etc. A big seller to me is the general "vibrancy" you can sense & feel from the various colors & shades used by these amazing artists from around the globe. Very disappointed in the shipping process! Placed my order on February 8th for and anniversary gift for February 23rd. After I place my order, I was NOT informed that my gift was on back order until I emailed them asking where was my order? They told me that it would still arrive the following week. Then today, after inquiring AGAIN about my gift order I was given a very lame response telling me that although it was shipped, for some reason the shipment was stopped!!! What on earth does that even mean. Now supposedly it is supposed to arrive February 28th! I do not recommend ordering from these people because they have not taken responsibility for their mistake! Instead I received a very condescending email, telling me that perhaps I am not receiving their messages. She, Emily, said that she contacted me on Feb 20th! Yes she did AFTER I emailed to asked what happened to the order. Now supposedly the order will arrive Feb 28th. If I could give them a zero I would because they do not even deserve a 1! read more

Literally the cutest little handmade store! I wanted to buy everything. Right when you walk in, you're met with these handmade wool birdhouses that are so cute. They also had Christmas decorations, jewelry, dresses, wool balls, etc. Most of the items are ethically made from independent creators which is awesome because you can support them while also getting something super cute. My friend ended up buying a card wallet that showed who and where it was made. read more

I love supporting ethical companies like Fair Trade Winds. Their store is fun to walk through & full of cute displays of unique, handmade products. They also have friendly, helpful service. Fair Trade Winds sells a wide-range of ethically made, thoughtfully curated, handmade goods -- clothing, bags, accessories, jewelry, ceramics, housewares, indoor & outdoor decor, paper goods, gift sets, and more. Some food/drink items they sell are chocolates, spices, teas, coffees. Anything fair trade you can think of, they likely have it! For clothing, I appreciate that along with basics they also stock a pretty good range of unique, cute styles, including some hand-blockprinted & hand-batiked pieces. Lots of colorful options too. Their pricing is reasonable & on par with other fair trade stores I've seen around the country. And not only are their products fair trade, many are also eco-friendly. I definitely recommend Fair Trade Winds. :) read more

Surprised myself today while wandering around Ballard for some holiday shopping by how much I enjoyed my shopping experience at Fair Trade Winds. There was a wide range of products from scarves to ornaments to baby books and mobiles to soaps to jewelry to home goods in the store that were all of high quality but not crazy expensive like some other fair trade shops have been that I've visited previously. I really liked that they feature handmade product made from various communities around the world, which are easy to read about with their associated products. The staff was friendly and helpful - we found a baby mobile that we wanted to get and they went to the back to see if there were any that were packaged up (aka not the floor model) that we could bring home instead. Checkout was fast and easy (they take credit card) and despite the shop bustling due to it being a weekend we had no problem finding someone to help us with the mobile nor with checkout. Bonus points to the shop for a having a very clean bathroom available for use - knowing that most of the other shops in Ballard don't have this amenity, it's a huge welcome. read more

An amazing little shop in the heart of Ballard that offers tons of Fair Trade items at a reasonable price. We were strolling around the neighborhood and stopped in to see what was what, after seeing some cool things in the front windows. We walked out with a market basket, cushiony socks, & a coffee mug! We could've easily left with much much more! They had all sorts of items to pick from: kid's clothing and toys, women's clothing, kitchen basics & linens, jewelry, and more! We are certainly going to return to get things not only for ourselves but also for friends/family that would love their offerings. Plus, being Fair Trade, we know it's supporting a good cause and making a difference in people's lives. read more

I really appreciate this store. They feature handmade, sustainable items from around the world, a great stop for gifts but also for necessities like soup or spice mixes, cool, un-dyed, natural cleaning clothes and fancy lady earrings. OK, earrings are not a necessity, but they have a fine selection. I love knowing that my dollars support good organizations around the world, and are not mass-produced in terrible conditions by unpaid labor. Shopping with a conscience feels even better than just shopping, who'd a thunk it? read more

Everything is about fair trade goods in this store. Fair trade stuff are sometimes not so cool, unfashionable etc.. But this store is full of cute stuff and good selection. Many of them are made in Mexico, Guatemala, Kenya etc... I bought a cute angel earring made in Mexico and I feel happy with wearing it! There are some good selected books also and it was a nice coincidence when I found a book ' Mountains beyond mountains' by Tracy Kidder piled up on the shelf which I just finished reading before coming by the store. read more

I wandered into this store a few weeks ago shopping for a friends' gift. I wanted to buy everything! Super unique fair trade handmade crafts, purses, bags, home stuff, jewelry, musical instruments, wall decor, chocolate, kid stuff, clothing, scarves and gloves...wonderful colors, textures, fabrics. All high quality but good price range: small stuff and bigger fancier things, so I was more than able to get a really unique gift without breaking the bank.
