Great shop in Pike Place for those who want to take home souvenirs or for general gifting that are more personalized than the usual mass-produced overseas mugs and such in gift shops. They have consumables (salmon, coffee, tea, chocolate, etc) as well as shirts, art, posters, and such. They even have artisan hand-blown glass ornaments (throwback to the Museum of Glass). The shop is decently sized so there's a lot of things to choose from. If you're running low on luggage space or buying something delicate, they will package and ship things to your door! So thoughtful. The workers are pretty friendly despite being inundated with guests. Made in Washington is a Pike Place store that carries all sorts of artisan items made in the state of Washington. They were open early, and I was able to enjoy the different tinned and packaged salmon they had, as well as the different salts and rubs. This is a pretty cute store offering "local" items located within Pike Place market. They have plenty of other locations located within malls around the area. Their prices are high in comparison to the products they sell. In other words, the items are of low value. However, if you are looking to gift someone something that is "local", this may be your best option. They have a cute selection of souvenirs, chocolates and snacks the cashier says were all made by Washington businesses and residents, hence the store name "Made in Washington". It's always good to support local businesses and the local economy. The staff here was great and the lady who helped me was so kind and informative. I can't speak for the chocolates and souvenirs there, what I really liked and bought several of were the dog buttons that support the local animal shelter. If I could, I would've bought all of them but I had to narrow it down to four and I chose the ones that reminded me most of my sweet dog. read more

I'm surprised this place doesn't have more reviews because I loved this shop! I stopped by multiple times on our visit just to get "Seattle Chocolates" (brand) which is sold in bars, individually wrapped, and packaged individually wrapped pieces for gifts. These chocolates are SO GOOD and everyone I gifted them to loved them! I regret not buying more! There are so many different, unique flavors to try. Buying the small individual ones are a good way to try them all. One small piece is 45 cents, bars are about $4-5. On top of the Seattle chocolates, there's Washington coffee (of course), teas, beer, wine, post cards, salmon, glass art, bath and body products. I really enjoyed browsing the huge selection of Washington exclusive gifts! I think it's around $5 to ship whatever you buy! Unfortunately alcohol isn't allowed to be shipped. The products from this company are good. The customer service is not. I placed an order on a Friday and saw three shipping options, Overnight, 2-Day Express or Standard. I selected overnight and paid $34.99 for the expedited shipping. After I completed the transaction, I saw that the order would not be delivered until the following Tuesday. I tried contacting customer service but no one was available on the weekend. When I got a reply today (Tuesday), the person told me that overnight shipping only applies Monday-Friday. Why wasn't I told that at checkout? Why did the company accept an overnight shipping fee of $34.99 if they could not deliver my order on the weekend? The explanation about overnight shipping restrictions should have been given when I checked out and paid for my order. No such information was provided to me at that time. A couple weeks had gone by / we didn't receive them .. he called , ( they had inadvertently missplaced our address).. manager felt soooo bad. This fun store within Pike Place Market is always a must-visit for me, especially when I'm looking for souvenirs to take home for friends and family. I don't usually buy a whole ton from this store, but it's always good to see what sales they have, in addition to their great variety of popular Seattle treats. Whether you're looking for coffee, some of Tom Douglas' famous rubs, Chukar Cherries or Seattle Chocolates, this is the place to go. You can find Seattle Chocolates at some of the other stores/gift shops (as well as their original chocolate store), but in case you can't make it to the flagship store, this is a good spot to pick up some of those chocolate bars. Their signature dark chocolate sea salt bar is one of my favorites. This store is definitely worth visiting if you're from out of town. And yes, if you plan on going to Pike Place Chowder, jump in line around 10:40 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. ... from the Made in Washington store, you'll soon see the line grow exponentially. Here are some of my favorite treats from here: Honey-Roasted Chocolate Almonds: This is the best-selling non-cherry item from Chukar Cherries, and if I realized how good they would be, I would have bought more than one bag during my visit. I like almonds to begin with, but once they're covered in chocolate and honey ... man, these are like next-level almonds. The bags are rather petite, but they're pretty pricy at $10.50 each. Yet, I thought nothing of getting another one once I broke into my bag. I loved the chocolate-honey coating, and the almonds are dusted with powdered sugar to make them even more appealing. If you don't like cherries (like me), this is definitely a tasty, addictive alternative. After getting these, I seriously even looked into buying more online ... Seattle Chocolates: I've tasted a lot of chocolates, and I LOVE chocolate. But Seattle Chocolates are definitely one of the bests I've had. I bought several of these bars, and it was hard to determine which I liked most. Their best seller (the one with sea salt and toffee) is definitely worth getting, if you've never had these chocolates before. It's the perfect sweet/slightly salty/slightly smoky mix. As much as I love luscious, rich chocolate, I also really enjoy the slightly salty aftertaste. Some of my other favorites include the espresso bar (great medley of chocolate and coffee) and the peanut butter one. I love strong, creamy peanut butter flavors, so this hit the spot. Seattle Coffee: I like how this store has packets of coffee, so if you want to sample this brand, you don't have to commit to buying a huge package of coffee. The little "sampler" bag is great too for giving to friends and family as souvenirs. I'm also partial to the free samples they give in the store of this coffee; it gives you a chance to taste it and see if you like it. read more

I wandered through the Pike Place location in early December while on a typical tourist stroll. There's a nice assortment of merchandise from Washington but that's only a small part of what impressed me about this store. The staff was really pleasant and helpful. And when I found something I wanted but couldn't fit into my luggage, they made it really easy to get my new toys home. In fact, my purchases were waiting for me when I returned home to Chicago. Opening the package dispelled my last fear - the breakables I purchased were carefully packed and arrived intact. I first saw this place while on line for chowder. The best part of this store is that they'll ship almost anything you buy anywhere in the US for a flat rate of $4.99. That promotion definitely worked, as it made me just stock up on souvenirs to send home instead of having to deal with storing them in my luggage and hoping they didn't break. I've lived in Washington for a few years now and can vouch that all the brands and merchandise here are from famous, high quality, local artists and businesses. Great products that would make wonderful gifts, but there are no prices on most items, so you have to ask one by one. I had a snafuu at work that could not be corrected by the original vendor - and had a matter of an hour to correct the mistake.
