Like a beautiful art gallery, worth coming just to look around!
Lara O.

I bought a salish wool blanket online years ago that I cherish. On a road trip I stopped in to see the store in person, tall ceilings and it smelled amazing in there! The staff were really nice, we were wearing the same brand mukluks. I was on a mission (and a budget!) and knew exactly what I wanted, left with two new blankets for gifting that came in beautiful boxes with handles. Last minute picked some socks out for my husband, they feel like really good quality while also being beautiful! Next time I'll buy a scarf for myself, one of the beautiful silky ones. I'm so happy to see Native businesses thriving! Congrats to the whole team, seeing your work on the cover of vogue is a milestone! :)

Close up on Confluence wool blanket

I haven't been to this store but was looking for a wool blanket online to keep me warm while social distancing in outdoor gatherings in Boston during the winter. I was blown away by the Confluence design by David Boxley. Being an environmentalist his message was inline with my beliefs. Shipment was slower than normal (with Amazon everyone is used to ridiculously quick shipments) but with COVID spiking up online sales and delaying shipments, Eight Generation can't be blamed. I wish they had just thrown the shipping label on the blanket box instead of having a box inside a box, but it does protect against bumps; and their inside box (with a dope design) was in perfect condition. The blanket's quality is top notch. Up close the colors were not as brilliant as they were online (some red fibers in the blue), but it's beautiful! Super soft and not itchy like some of the Pendleton blankets I've felt. I mean it, this wool blanket is not even itchy on my face (and I'm sensitive to wool)! The blanket is edged with a soft microfiber and is made of Aotearoa wool (Maori word for NZ...nice touch). Side note, I love that supporting a shop that benefits inspired Native artists doesn't mean you compromise on quality. I plan I'm enjoying this blanket for years to come and visiting this store next time I'm in Seattle!

Silver Cedar Bough Earrings
Tiffany S.

Just received my cedar bough earrings - I cannot say enough good things about these. They are cast from a real cedar bough locally by artist Louie Gong, which I truly value as a connection to place, identity, and history. They are elegant and at the same time rooted in nature. I have never seen earrings that are more meaningful for me personally and am forever grateful to have found them. Please consider purchasing gifts for your loved ones from Eighth Generation - we are all guests here on Turtle Island and should take every opportunity to center Inspired Natives.

I love my cedar bough earrings.

I had the privilege to go to the Pike Place Market location while on vacation with my family.

Baleen is one of my favorite shops in Seattle to buy handmade jewelry! I've been here multiple…read moretimes and my jewelry is still going strong, even in the shower. The jewelry is sold at a very reasonable price. They also sell products from other brands, like Baggu and Chunks, to name a couple. The staff is also very friendly and you can try on most of the jewelry before committing.

They jam your…read moreentire order, no matter the value, into a single USPS package, which is only insured for up to $100, and with their brand plastered on the outside, making it a target for mail theft but impossible to be fully reimbursed for if/when the contents get stolen. After a number of emails back and forth, they were not able to send me the original mailing receipt which is required to file a claim with USPS, so it seems unlikely I'll get anything from the claim anyways. They even gave me a "tip" that I should look into getting a secure mailbox, as if that would prevent an empty box from being delivered in the first place. In the end, I spent $140 for a box with nothing more than tissue paper and promotional material. Oh, did I mention they generously offered to send me the products again if I pay 60% more than I already paid? Thanks, but definitely not going to throw more money in your direction only to lose it again. Update: Just to clarify, this is not a case of mailbox theft...I was physically delivered an empty box by the carrier. There is always risk involved with shipping, and as the shipper, it's your responsibility to ship in a way that reasonably reduces risk and puts shipping liability on the carrier. Since you put more than $100 of your product in a box that's only covered for up to $100, you put the risk on the customer. I can't possibly be refunded now. You also could have reduced risk within reason by not advertising on the outside of the box that there is jewelry inside.
