My Easter Island, Easter Bunnies and Space Aliens refrigerator magnet. Looks like a great time!

Fun little boutique and gift place I was about to pass by. I decided to go in and I'm really glad that I made the stop! Lots of different things in this cute little shop! Clothing, jewelry, accessories, health and beauty products and in the case of my purchase refrigerator magnets! The magnet art work was done by a local Seattle artist as much of the product here is locally made. I fell in love with the magnets with the theme of two popular franchises for films butt heads... like in the case of Godzilla attack a Star Wars Snow Walker and other iconic pop mash ups. Folks that work here are super friendly and enjoyable to talk to! I will make a point to stop by again whenever I'm in the neighborhood!

YAS Queen! The Uncommon Cottage has apparently only been around for 6 months, but the owner has been doing the retail game for years. The fact that Jennifer is originally from Brooklyn shows in the eclectic style she brings to the shop. Though the neighborhood definitely has more of a light and airy west coast vibe than underground NYC style, I was glad to hear that Jennifer plans to steer the Cottage's collection a bit more toward her own style (a bit edgier, some fetish items, less tchotchke) over time. The Cottage features mostly local area designers, many of whom Jennifer can tell you about from personal experience. This is a fantastic spot to go for a gift (so many unique items!) or just to treat yourself. Really cool and handmade jewelry, unique enamel pins, some Killstar and fetish-ware items, CBD body products, and more! Great prices, kick ass owner/staff, definitely give this shop some love.

call before coming. sign says open at 11am, left at 11:15 and still no sign of any owner coming to open.

Major fail. Store hours say they open at 11am on Tuesday, waited til 11:15am and still no sign of light or shop being open. Delayed heading to airport to still not get the pins for friends. Sadness. Even called the shop and only got voicemail that also confirmed open on Tuesday at 11am.

After patronizing this place for a while, I was asked not to come back to this store. Naturally I was curious as to why they would do this to a repeat customer. I was told that I had made an employee uncomfortable- by flirting with them!! I was gobsmacked as to why anyone would think that. I'm a talker- I talk to everyone I meet the same way, but this person thought I was flirting with them. Perhaps they have too much main character energy to think that. Perhaps they found my chattiness annoying- not everyone is going to be delighted by me- but why, WHY would they not just tell me they were busy and couldn't talk? Did they feel they were being held hostage? I saw Standard Goods as a neighborhood spot. Keep in mind I wasn't camping out at the store; I'd say my average visit was -20 minutes, and I wasn't there frequently. This just doesn't make any sense to me. I'm forced to consider the possibility they felt ill at ease around me due to my disablity- I'm legally blind and my eyes look different, some people aren't comfortable with that that's their problem. Even if that's not the case, it still really hurt when they asked me not to come back. What is this, high school? Yes, I cried. They made me feel like my presence was a nuisanc. It left an impact. question whether people want me around. There were so many other ways they could have dealt with it and at the same time keep in mind that I was a customer with feelings. I get the distinct sense that they don't care about customers or the community. It's good for managers to take their employees' concerns seriously- Just not like this. Maybe they are extremely nonconfrontational, yet there must have been another way to addrss this without banning me from the store.

The jewelry is sold at a very reasonable price. They also sell products from other brands, like Baggu and Chunks, to name a couple. After a number of emails back and forth, they were not able to send me the original mailing receipt which is required to file a claim with USPS, so it seems unlikely I'll get anything from the claim anyways. They even gave me a "tip" that I should look into getting a secure mailbox, as if that would prevent an empty box from being delivered in the first place. In the end, I spent $140 for a box with nothing more than tissue paper and promotional material. Oh, did I mention they generously offered to send me the products again if I pay 60% more than I already paid? Thanks, but definitely not going to throw more money in your direction only to lose it again. Update: Just to clarify, this is not a case of mailbox theft...I was physically delivered an empty box by the carrier. There is always risk involved with shipping, and as the shipper, it's your responsibility to ship in a way that reasonably reduces risk and puts shipping liability on the carrier. Since you put more than $100 of your product in a box that's only covered for up to $100, you put the risk on the customer. I can't possibly be refunded now. You also could have reduced risk within reason by not advertising on the outside of the box that there is jewelry inside.
