I had to do some errands while at the mall and saw that this new store, Muto Design opened, right next to Royce Chocolate. The store is on the smaller side, but it was nice to check out the different merch they sell here, ranging from smaller items, such as pins and key chains to sake sets and pots. I would say that if there's someone in your life who loves Japanese items or trends, Muto Design store is a great place for getting said person a gift from here. Although it's not the largest selection, they have specialized and unique items that'll make you smile. Glad to have checked it out - and that there's a home for it in Bellevue.

The vibes are good all around, the staff are friendly, and there is always something interesting to find, whether it's decor, kitchen stuff, snacks, or some random little gem you didn't expect to fall in love with. On this visit, I came across this gorgeous cabinet that immediately made me stop and take a picture because it looked like it belonged straight out of Hogwarts. I did not buy it yet, but I am still thinking about it, which probably tells you everything you need to know. That is exactly the kind of place this is. You go in for a casual browse and leave wondering whether you just found the perfect piece for your own Room of Requirement. Here is the timeline of their incompetence: - Failure 1 (February): The initial electronic refund failed immediately. - Failure 2 (March): Without my permission, they tried to issue an e-merchandise gift card instead of a cash refund, which I had to force them to void. - Failure 3 (April): After I complained and left a poor review, they promised to mail a refund check via USPS. - Failure 4 (May): The first check never arrived. - Failure 5 (May 24): When issuing a replacement check, Customer Care apologized because the first one was voided due to an "incorrect address"--the exact same address they successfully used for the original delivery and order. It has been over 90 days, and I am still fighting for my money. They have failed to process a refund electronically, through a gift card, and through two attempts at mailing a check. Do not trust their customer service or refund process. This experience has been a complete nightmare.

I also noticed a few familiar names like Sitka and Spruce, a popular restaurant that I stumbled upon while researching 'must eat' spots in Seattle. I wish we had more time to look around. We didn't get to go upstairs, but I'll just have to plan for that on my next visit to Seattle. It's just down the street from the Starbucks Reserve and an easy add-on to any itinerary. The ladies co-ordinated with the event location and when I walked up the stairs to the event space I was dumbfounded (in a good way!). The tables were set with festive settings and were right within the theme of the evening. To make matters even better they planned games/contests which resulted in small gifts for the winners. Everyone walked away with something to mark the evening but the lasting memory will be an event that was efficiently run, very entertaining and well timed. There was none of those awkward moments where everyone is sitting around staring at each other. I learned a valuable lesson that I should stick with what I know best (running my business) and let the pro's at Elite handle my corporate functions. It was far easier on me personally and also resulted in a great corporate event that in no way would I the bandwidth to plan. Bravo ladies!

This shop was such a fun surprise. It truly has something for everyone -- from home goods and gifts to snacks and quirky finds. But the real standout is the toy section. It's one of the best I've seen, with so many unique, high-quality options for all ages. You can easily get lost exploring everything they offer. The store is well-organized, clean, and easy to browse. It's the kind of place where you walk in needing nothing and walk out with three things you didn't know you needed. We don't live in Seatttle, where the store is, so my husband sent back of the gift and was told that someone would help me with an exchange. I had no response to my Instagram messages or my emails. Now in December, finally someone is responding to us and they are unwilling to help shop remotely, siting the season as the reason. In fact, they're only willing to offer a gift card. They did, however, offer the "full price" on the gift card. I found that an interesting statement. As if that was a favor to me. So since we live far away, it's unlikely that I will remember to use the gift card. We only visit once every year or two. I hope I do have a chance to spend the gift card, worth over $300. But this is just a reminder that while it's nice to shop small businesses, in person, it's not necessarily great for the recipient of the gift. Especially if a change is needed. A better resolution would've been a refund to my husband. Especially for a long distance situation. While he was told that the sales person would be helpful, we have not found that to do so. One of my favorite sayings is that you're either winning or you're learning. I'd say this is definitely a learning experience. Shop wisely.
