This store has many beautiful home goods and china items - items I have gone in over a dozen times…read morethis past year to peruse. Sadly, I have never made a purchase at this store. The items are ridiculously priced. They are the same or higher then Etsy and eBay (including the shipping). I appreciate that this is for a charitable cause, but it is not thrift. Contrast this with the charitable thrift shop down and across the street (about a block away). Nearly every time I go in there I buy something as they are reasonably priced. Consequently, I routinely notice that The Center fails to move merchandise- same things on the shelf for months- while the shop down the street is constantly turning over items. If you are shopping primarily to support The Center- it's a great cause- just know you are not getting good deals on these donated goods. Proprietors are prioritizing getting premium price over moving goods or offering community members a 2-for-1: thrill of a fine deal and joy at supporting a worthy, wonderful institution in the community. It's a business model choice, no shade.

I happened to be on a walk today and since it was in my path, I decided to step in. As I walked in, there were three ladies chatting, one or more that worked there, that glared at me and didn't ask if I had any questions and continued their conversation. I don't want to presume what was going through their heads, but judging by the looks I received, I can't be for certain. They had no idea why I was in there. I could've been there to buy something for a friend, in my case, thinking that there might be some men's clothes there, etc. is disappointing that West Seattle small business seems to have forgotten traditional business practices of welcoming, whoever walks through their door. Or in this case, they know and they just don't care.
