We finally checked out Curious Kidstuff and I wish we would have come in sooner. The main reason we came in was for the art class they offer. For littles 18 months and up on Mondays and Fridays they offer an art class at 10am. The first class is free which is awesome because you can check it out without making a commitment. Then, classes are $12 or if you purchase a 4 pack, you get 10% off. It's drop in style which is great because our schedule can change suddenly with my 2 year old. The toy shop itself is also very cool with a wonderfully large assortment of toys. Art toys. Educational toys. Trucks. Animals. All the things. The prices are a tad higher than amazon, but I'd rather pay the additional $2 than have to add $20 worth of stuff I do t need to get same day shipping on amazon. The staff is very kind and friendly. This is a great shop in west Seattle. There is 2hr street parking and also a few close by public lots for the junction. read more

Good toy stores are very scarce. I brought my four year old grandson into this shop for his first experience in a REAL toy store. The shop staff were so great. He had never seen so many toys in one spot. Department store toy "areas" are just not the same as a shop like Curious Kidstuff. He walked around the shop in amazement. I highly recommend grandparents to take their grandkids for this magical toy shop experience. read more

What a cute west seattle establishment! This is my go to place for birthday gifts. They have everything you could imagine for all age groups. Whenever I go in, I'm intrigued by they really do a good job organizing the toys in a way to tickle all the learning milestones. They offer free gift wrap and fun classes for the kiddos! Tel hey also have an upstairs space for parties! My only complaint is the prices. My kids and I came by here two weeks ago (I forgot to post this oops) There was a really odd smell when we first walked in. Kinda like burning plastic. It was a little off putting but my kids still wanted to look around. My daughter loves dinosaurs and she found a velociraptor that is buried and you have to play archeologists and dig all the pieces out. She LOVED it. As I was paying thy had some sand like. Clay like. Silly putty like substance sitting by the register. I picked it up and started to play with it. It is literally a combination of silly putty. And sand. It's called mad Matr. It was $13 which is a little pricey but you get two bags of it and best of all. It doesn't dry out. I brought it home and have found it's a great stress reliever when just watching tv. I also left a big chunk of it out overnight thinking it would be dry in the morning. Nope! I will definitely be back next time I'm in West Seattle. Excellent kid's toy store in West Seattle. Store is large and well-stocked with plenty of space to run around and sample the wares. Prices are high, but not more than expected for a shop of this kind. Products are generally higher quality and the selection is well-curated. Staff were friendly buy not pushy or over-bearing. This toy store is worth the drive over. If I see a small toy store I need to stop. And I know it's not just to entertain the little toddler, it's for me to hunt down the coolest toys because I get to play with them too! First off, the staff is super friendly and greets you immediately. They have a great set up for a wide variety of ages. You can get a baby shower gift and something for that picky 12 year old here. They also apparently have art lessons, which I would totally do if they weren't so far away. And their bathroom is awesome. I just have to say I love having a changing table and small toilet for kids only. That was cool! We found two great items here. A toy airplane that comes with a wrench so you can take the whole thing apart and then put it back together. It's pretty cool. And the other were stomp rockets. Air pressure rockets that launch over 100ft when stomped on. They are so much fun. It's a definite stop whenever we are in West Seattle! read more

I don't have kids. I don't spend a lot of time around kids. Some of my favorite people have kids and I like them, so when they have birthdays and such I try to please my friends by not getting their kids something noisy or super gross. I prefer to get their children educational toys (my friend's kids are practically brilliant), but the whole point is to get something the kids will like and enjoy, riiiiight? Enter Curious Kidstuff. Tons of fun AND educational toys and games for children of ALL ages. Shoot, I had a hard time not buying things for *myself* here. The staff is incredibly friendly and totally helpful for those like me who want to give a good gift with a personal touch but don't know a whole lot about what 6 year olds like these days. This used to be a friendly neighborhood store. We've been supportive of the store since they opened. Today we supported them on Small Business Saturday and the staff seemed tired and put out. Doing our tour of west seattle, we hit the junction, and little boy saw this store. Another great toy store, nothing like toys R us. The moment we walked in, the lady at the desk, was helpful and delightful to us. There is a play room for kiddies..thomas trains, and another car table to keep there interest. I guess there is a upstairs room which has art classes for the youngsters..sounds cool. Then there is the main room, which has the majority of toys..many which involve imagination. We left with a few valentines day items, as its hard to leave such a great place empty handed. Much like top ten toys in greenwood, this is a great place to shop or just browse. A great place for kids! Not only do they offer one of the better selections of educational toys (they do not sell violent toys - although, really, anything can be made to be a weapon, am i right sibs?) but they have a lot of things out in the open that you can play with! Great selection, great prices, great staff. This is the best place for several reasons. Here goes: 1) Best place to dive into on the way to a kid's birthday party. The inventory is arranged so there's all the onsie-twosie stuff out in the open, but all the collect-a-whole-set (like trains and doll house furniture) in the back corners. Very smart. 2) Best balance of bookworm and adrenaline-churning toys. You can get your ABC's on while also facilitating your son's re-creation of the Blues Brothers' mall scene. 3) Staff is really fun and funny. I always buy the funny stuff, like the life-size stuffed dogs, and the staff is always on my wavelength for why I'm giggling to myself. They also do wrapping for free. It would be better if they did rapping (like if they sang "Stick 'Em" from the Fat Boys while they ran my credit card), but there aren't enough stars for the store that would go that far. Bottom line: I'm surprised there are any other toy stores still in business. This place has their sugar honey ice tea together, if you catch my drift. read more

This used to be my #1 go-to place to buy birthday presents for my friends' kids, but now I feel a little uncomfortable going here. It has tons of reasonably priced toys and they even gift wrap the present for you for a small fee, which is awesome. (I hate gift wrapping myself, so this is a huge plus!) Unfortunately, they recently adopted a new policy that strollers are no longer allowed in the store because their carpet "can't handle" the dirt and debris. Okay, so what am I supposed to do with my small child while I try to buy merchandise from your store? Just let him roam free and wreak havoc on your store or somehow try to keep him contained while I simultaneously try to scan the shelves to find the product I'm looking for? I'm seven months pregnant, my 17-month-old is too heavy to carry around while I shop. None of the other stores in the Junction have a sign forbidding strollers, isn't it a little ironic that the one that does is a store meant for children? It seems to me that if you have a store selling children's toys, but your carpet "can't handle" kid-related things like strollers, then maybe you should just spring for new carpet instead of making your customers feel like they aren't welcome to shop there with their small children. read more

There are not enough ways for me to recommend this fabulous locally owned small business. My kids love it! I love it! The range of toys is endless, and there is always something unique and new to discover. We never feel rushed and the kids go between playing and picking things out throughout our visits. I love this place. We started coming to art classes once a week. The projects are fun, always something new and relevant to a holiday or time of year. There are Plenty! of options for the short attention spans of little ones and the teacher, usually Lisa, is so helpful, creative and most of all patient. My kids love to explore the toys downstairs after class. No one ever stresses about them playing. I love buying gifts here. They have a great selection. Staff is always able to offer at least a few options for whatever age or type of kid whose party we're attending. And the gift wrapping! Loved this place! Took my twins in the other day and my son played with the train tables and my daughter played with the Calico Critters tree house while I shopped for a gift for my friend's daughter. The prices were good and their selection very good for such a small shop. I loved that they offered to wrap my purchase for me. I was able to buy a really cute birthday card there as well. In a lot of gift or toy stores you have to hunt for something educational, not a problem here. It seems like everything is meant to delight and stimulate the brain. No hot wheels here, however you can buy your child something that requires, you know -creating. It's almost enough to make somebody want kids. read more

There are so many things about this store that I love. The selection is amazing, but even more so are the women who work there. They are so welcoming and helpful. I have always felt like my children could stop in and play. And while I try to always buy something if we spend time in the store, I have never felt pressured to do so. They even have a small child-sized working toilet plumbed in their bathroom. It used to be the only public potty my daughter was willing to use. The other awesome thing about this store are the art classes and birthday parties. Both are SUPER well organized and creative. The majority of what they use in the art space is available for purchase in the store below. I have found tons of unique art supplies and toys this way. Great place save for the lack of toys that could put your eye out. Way too many safe and educational products. I had to give my wife an ear twister to keep from giving my nephew some damn spelling game. I, who actually like my nephew, overruled her and got the air rocket that shoots about 50 feet in the air. Now, you think its cuz I am the one who might want to play with this. Well, sure, but I also like watching the little cretin cry when his rocket goes in the house gutter and his dad scowl when he has to drag out the ladder. If a kid's gonna cry it should be because his toy is on the roof, not because he can't spell 'pudendum' at age 5. Still, this is a cool store. Just don't shop with your wife here. read more

Granted, I'm new to this baby stuff and haven't visited a ton of toy stores as of yet, but I love this place! They have such a great selection of educational/nerdy/geeky toys (perfect for my 10 year old niece) and they also stock a lot of the cutest toddler toys ever. I have purchased gifts for baby showers, one-year-old's birthdays, and gifts for my older niece and nephew here and every one has been a hit! It's especially helpful that they have free gift wrapping, and they also offer art classes. I've been here a couple times over the year to pick up the occasional kid birthday gift. It is very kid friendly with toys and gadgets within reach, but there isn't quite the selection I'd like. This particular trip I was struggling to look for something for a 2yo who loves cars. I didn't find it. Either it wouldn't be safe for his age or he already had something like it. I love that they have a lot of the toys I grew up with and not a lot of the cheap plastic crap you find at other toy stores. You won't find barbies here. I have been to this store 4 or 5 times with pretty good results. As was pointed out to me by another visitor I know, all the toys are plainly marked for which age bracket they are aimed at. The service has been a little uneven but over all I have been pleased with the results. And the free wrapping has saved me a few times. I have even bought a couple of items for myself here ! This is going to be my go-to toy store from now on. My husband and I have an 11 month old so this was our first year trying the whole Christmas shopping for a kid thing. We went to the big chain toy store and were both completely overwhelmed and disappointed by both prices and selection. We decided to come here instead and were happily surprised! There was lots to choose from and although prices are a little higher than the big chains the quality and lack of cheaply made plastic toys makes it worth it. I highly recommend shopping here. For Christmas they also offered free gift wrapping to us even though we didn't even ask! You can't beat that! read more
