The Anthropologie at University Village is always a lovely place to shop, but my most recent visit was especially memorable thanks to Raquel. Raquel provided absolutely amazing customer service. She went above and beyond, gave extra love and attention to my dog, and made me feel genuinely taken care of throughout the entire shopping experience. Her warmth, attentiveness, and eye for detail made shopping feel effortless and fun. I definitely walked away buying way more than I planned, and I blame her in the best way possible. This location already has a great selection and beautiful layout, but team members like Raquel truly elevate the experience. Huge shoutout to her for making the visit so enjoyable. I don't think I've ever purchased a clothing item from Anthropologie, but I am theeeeeee biggest fan of their housewares and candles. I wish I was joking when I say that every time I stop by I leave with another candle. I'm actually 100% serious. Not even kidding. I went in to check out their "extra 50% off sale items" sale, and I left with four -- yes, I repeat, FOUR -- new candles. They were all on sale, of course, so I don't feel so terrible about it! I am also a huge fan of their dishes and mugs. They frequently have a special on mugs, and the selection is so creative and uniquely designed. (I have to admit, I also bought a mug with those four candles.... lol. But honestly, you can never have too many mugs, amirite?!) My fiancée and I drove to Anthropology on Monday 8/31 to pick out a top for her first day of back as a pre-school teacher. We arrived around 5:45pm, 15 minutes before the posted 6pm closing time. We were both caught off guard when we were greeted at the door and told that they were closing early for sanitization. I would be more understanding if this was a one-off based on extenuating circumstances, but we were told that this is a standard practice and that they had a lot of work to do so they were trying to get started early. We had called the store in advance and the automated greeting indicated that the current hours were posted online. We checked online before navigating to the store and confirmed a close time of 6pm. This reminds me of when I was in college managing a restaurant and the employees often wanted to tell customers that we were closing before our posted closing time in order to avoid working a few minutes later than preferred. This was rarely ever allowed as I was a firm believer that customers should feel comfortable arriving close to closing time and still get the same quality of service. We were both fully aware of the 6pm close time and were prepared to shop quickly so that we were out the door by 6. After driving 25 minutes through traffic and being turned around with 15 minutes to spare was a very frustrating experience and one that I would not wish on any prospective customers. read more

I'm a thrift store kind of girl, so you'd think I'd hate Anthropologie (heck, I can even find Anthro cast-offs at Goodwill when I look, so you'd probably wonder why I'd buy at the store). I can't help it. Anthropologie is to clothing like Whole Foods is to grocery stores - they completely sell a shopping experience (as well as some good quality and beautiful items). Shopping at Anthro is like shopping in another dreamy world. You walk in and the smell of burning Voluspa candles takes over your olfactory senses (interestingly, this also perfumes the clothes you buy, so the first time you wear your clothes, a little of the Anthro store magic floats around with you). Each Anthropologie store has their own team of artists that designs its store displays (around a central theme governed by some Anthro head), so visually everything is super appealing (plus, it's like you're shopping in a gallery, elevating the clothes to art-like status). Admittedly, I have never bought something full-price at Anthro. I always shop the sale rack (and even then prices can be high for me). But even at sale prices, you get the Anthro experience. The sales people at the U Village location have been really awesome. They are super helpful in the dressing rooms (and the dressing rooms are bright with full-length doors and enough places to hang clothes - there's no clothing limit for the dressing rooms). tip: Because of Anthro's return policy (forever with the receipt and tags intact), if you peruse the sales rack often enough, an item you might have missed out on from last season could return at a great price. tip 2: Also, although the sidewalk sale is ridiculously crowded and hard to park for, if you're looking for a certain sale item that is no longer in stock on the website, you should come here. This Anthro gets all the sale items from the other Anthro locations in the area shipped to them for the sidewalk sale so they can have MASSIVE inventory. Even a week before the sidewalk sale, you'll start to notice their sale selection gets a lot larger!) read more

Anthropologie is my wife's favorite store and we've been to a bunch of them. Prior to this we went to the one downtown on 5th in the commercial area of Seattle and it was also nice but I liked this one better. The couch was more comfortable and the parking was free and easier to deal with even though University Village was a busy place on a Sunday. Besides that all the stores are the same but they're not. They are all laid out differently and they don't have a standard decor. This one while to me didn't necessarily stand out it had room to walk around in and felt more open than many of the others I've been to before. I fall under the "I'm with her category" so being as tall as I am I'm able to find the couch and enjoy the wifi for a short while. read more

As much as I adore Anthro, I don't own a single thing from the store. It's so dang expensive! I have to pacify myself by just going in and looking looking looking. I don't even let myself try anything on, because then I would have to buy it. I'll admit, the last time I was there I actually whipped out my phone to snap a few photos of some really cute stuff. Just so I would be able to drool over it in the privacy of my own home. I do have a love affair with their housewares, though. They have really dainty dishes and linens, which are usually pretty reasonably priced. Last time I was there they had the cutest peacock-themed notebooks (I heart peacocks), which made me wish I had some profound thoughts to write down. You can get stuff on sale, too, which seems like the way to go. My oldest Sissy is always prancing around in these model-esque outfits, and when asked where they came from, her answer is invariably, "Sale at Anthro!" That little brat. This is a great location, which is in the U-Village, with a parking lot right outside the store. There are tons of sales staff on the floor, tidying things up, which helps a lot since there are so many items to look at. Also, I like that with long lines/busy days, all of the cash registers are in use, speeding up the process of checking people out. The sales staff is also friendly, greeting you and willing to assist. The sale selection goes by very fast, so items are limited, especially for the home goods. The home decor and accessories are absolutely wonderful; I love Anthro's home goods and always find something to desire. If you forget your Anthro card, you can provide your phone number and they can look up your account in the system when you're checking out. Great place to browse and shop at. read more

Love the selection and layout here! There's a nook for the sale merchandise that's always full and spacious fitting rooms. The staff and decor are always on point. Anthropologie in U-Village is a recipe for a hostile environment. It is nothing short of crowded. As I further ventured into the store, the density of worthless, monogrammed knick-knacks, antiquated and washed-up furniture, and infinity scarves that hang down to my knees increased. My best friend will blow an entire paycheck on clothes here. Her devotion to paying top dollar to look like a misplaced Prussian gypsy in Wisconsin is admirable and questionable at the same time. I felt most of my general repulsion while in their pigeon coop designated for all of the discounted clothes and miscellaneous shit. You want to see people at their absolute worst? Stuff them in the smallest fucking room with 30% off tags. That area was made for people who want a fast pass to experience the ill effects of stress. "Damn, I've been feeling too calm and relaxed lately. How do I get to feel weird heart palpitations FASTER?!?! SALES RACK!" I pulled a size S of a blouse that looked decent. A woman ran up next to me and asked, "Is there another one in that size?!" "I didn't see one, no." And thoroughly upset by this, with her teeth clenched and lips pursed, she reacted with a primal mouthful. "UUUUUGGGGHHH WHHAATTT TTTHHHEE FUUUUCCKKK." I haven't since returned. read more

My review is based on the customer service at this particular location. After today, I don't plan on frequenting this location even though I love UVillage and am there often. I'd say maybe 3% of the time I've been greeted by a sales associate. Twice now in a span of 2 months requests for a different size while in the fitting room have gone to the wayside. But the thing that really kills me is the wait...the wait to get to the counter. Last week I shopped there with a friend on a weekday, midmorning, and waited a good while to make a purchase. There were two registers open and one was being held up by a customer service issue, so essentially one register was open for a line of people waiting. Today around 10am I returned to bring back one of my purchases from last week. Again, a line. This time only one register was open. The line moved brutally slow. I can be empathetic if a retailer is short of help (I've been there...worked for Crate&Barrel for several years) but the thing that *kills* me is that in both instances, there were employees (note the plural use of employee) on the sales floor stocking, tidying, etc, things that should have been done prior to store opening, not a half hour into store opening. Their priorities seem to be in the wrong place at the UVillage location. I will no longer wait and be forgotten about here. read more

Anthropologie teaches me how to dress and live like a cool kid! Here's why I love it so much: 1- Clothes seem to fit me often! and make me look cute and cool! 2- Sales here can be AMAZING! 3- It's the only place in the world that makes me buy $25 candles. I buy them often because they make my bathroom smell like the baby jesus. 4- Beyond cute kitchen items!!!! Aprons, dishes, oven mitts! 5- Hooks and knobs that are to die for! The knobs on my dresser cost more cumulatively than did the dresser itself. Love love love!!!!! Shop shop shop!!!!! I put this store between Urban Outfitter and Coldwater Creek. For those of us who are grown up enough to not want the trendy cheap stuff anymore but still aren't ready for mom jeans. The housewares are really fantastic - think Williams Sonoma meets farmer's market- and the clothing- although expensive is all seemingly well made and gorgeous. read more

I adore Anthropologie. For a chain, their clothes can be surprisingly nuts and arty, and if you mix them into your own wardrobe you won't look like you stepped out of their catalog. For anyone with eclectic, vintage taste, this is the store for you (just save your allowance). In addition to clothing, they sell lots of bags, shoes, and other accessories. They also carry lovely jewelry, some of which is quite reasonably priced. The physical stores don't tend to carry a wide variety of accessories, and the U Village store doesn't carry shoes at all. They do have a lot of Anthro's charming housewares, which have a definite shabby-chic or retro vibe to them. Their clothes are crazy expensive, true. Not couture-level, but tops are generally $50-90, so take that as you will. I rarely buy things full price, though, as they frequently move things to the sale rack and sheeeeit I ain't made of money! Check their website often for new sales items, then call the store to see if they've got it in stock. The U Village store is very similar to the Downtown location, but they do tend to have a slightly different variety since neither carries everything. But both have the same level of service (friendly but not intrusive, very helpful if you want it) and similar "feel". They have nice dressing rooms, with a large bank of mirrors in the dressing area so you can check our the ol' caboose in those $150 jeans. I decided to knock a star off because the U Village store tends to be a bit too perfumed sometimes, and I'm not sure a store this crazy expensive should get 5 stars. I can't really afford to be as addicted to this place as I am. Doesn't seem fair, I know--but mass-produced clothing made of standard materials really shouldn't cost this much; Anthro just knows they've got us by the you-know-whats. read more

Personally I love Anthropologie their candles smell good, their cloths fit well and overall they have a lot of great products. But this review isn't about there product quality, it's about the horrible service my mother and I received at the store. The employees at this store were extremely rude. I would expect if you work at a nice place like Anthropologie you'd have the decency to be kind to your customers and converse in conversation rather than ignore them. I believe in good customer service no matter were you work and i was extremely disappointed after leaving. Prices are on the higher end for a chain retail store but their clothes are really cute and decent quality. However, I won't be back at this location. I got so much passive-aggresive attitude from the staff and I have no idea why, I'm generally pretty nice. From being snubbed at the dressing room to being outright ignored when I tried to check out (yeah, they ignored me when I was trying to PAY for things). Maybe next time I'll take the hint and drop the items I want to purchase on the floor and walk out. read more

Anthropologie is definitely my favorite clothing store out there right now. The styles are fantastic, their clothes are high quality and fit very well, they have great sales, and they keep everything very fresh. This Anthropologie store is a pretty good one. They sell both homewares and clothing, but unfortunately they don't sell shoes, and I really do like to be able to try on the shoes. The downtown Seattle Anthropologie store sells shoes which is nice. I've never had any issues with the service - everyone has always been very helpful in getting me different sizes when needed, and they are pleasantly attentive, which for me means not very attentive but just enough that they notice when I have a handful and offer to put it in a dressing room :). read more

They always have well-designed window displays that look like pieces of art than advertising, which I can appreciate. The best time to go to this location during the U Village Sidewalk Sale. Age: 31 & Sex: Male Why am I reviewing Anthropologie? I go to this store quite often than any mens clothing stores. Why??? Why?? No... I am not a cross-dresser. My girlfriend loves this store and we live within walking distance. She can shop here for hours, I usually follow her around for few minutes but eventually will pick one of their cookbooks and head to a couch. In those few minutes I would have heard "this is what Giada wore when she cooked..." a few times. "Do you come here to shop for yourself or to check out Giada's closet?" I always wanted to ask, but never did. I do like the cookbooks they carry and they constantly change their selections to keep me busy. I almost forgot to buy a gift for her birthday this year and how a quick stop at Anthropologie and a gift card saved the day for me! I can't fall back on Anthro for a gift again can I? But wait I think I got a hint last time when we went to Anthro. Location: Anthropologie Scene: I am on the couch with Foods of Asia on page 365 of 380 and she is empty handed and we are ready to leave. Me: How come you didn't buy anything? Shopping here is always a frustrating experience, because the regular-priced items just don't seem worth it, and the sales racks never have my size. Still, sometimes the stars align and I'll find something on sale that I not only like, but that fits, too! Another frustrating issue is the sales racks aren't homogenous across stores or the internet. Something will be much pricier (or cheaper) online, and will cost twice as much on the downtown sales rack as the U-Village sales rack (or vice-versa). I hate that. Also, they ask for your name when entering the dressing rooms, which is weird. I always give them fake names. I am working on the name "Mulva" (like from "Seinfeld") but I can't do it with a straight face - the best I got was "Dolores" and I started giggling whenever they knocked on the door and called me that. read more

Okay, I love Anthropologie, just plain love. I mainly shop there for their vast selection of beautiful, unique and feminine but not slutty clothes. I love the way all their stores smell and the way they are laid out. Tons and tons of gorgeous clothes laid out and hung up to tantalize our visionary senses. As I write this review I have on a lovely cream sweater and cool cords and earrings all from them...:-) The prices can be pretty high and that is in part why I am holding out one star. SAd thing is is that if they had alot of cheaper stuff, everyone would have the same clothes on, no? I love the staff at the U village, seriously some of the most beautiful young gals with no attitude. Even when I call in to have them hunt for something I have seen online, they are super helpful and reliable at calling me back if they say so. The stores also carry a great selection of jewelry, toiletries, candles, home decorations, FABULOUS kitschy aprons! ( I love buying them for others because secretly I want someone to buy me one! :-) ) and great dishware. Not sure why I haven't bought that Octopus plate yet, not sure at all.... I could go on and on but I won't. I love this shop and have to literally keep myself from going there on my day off, it's dangerous! read more

Is it anthro's fault that everything is so expensive? yes. is it all the nice employees' fault? no. they are all super helpful, the store with all of its crazies, is peaceful, and the employees are extremely "oh that's so cute!"-ful. Whenever i walk in and don't need help, they help, and even better, when i need help, the help. everyone's attentive! They are very happy to help over the phone as well, which has worked out nicely when i've wanted to check if they have something from the online store in stock. all in all. Nice! Neat! I wish I didn't love Anthropologie as much as I do. I feel like such a cliche, fawning over their hedgehog-shaped measuring cups and vintage-inspired coats. I made my boyfriend visit their downtown Seattle store last weekend and he said that he wouldn't wish anything in there on his worst enemy, but what does he know? Nothing, that's what. (I do wish Anthropologie would branch out to men's clothing, because I bet it'd be BEAUTIFUL.) This particular Anthropologie store is my favorite. It's very well organized. Everything is on the same floor. It's clean and open and decorated prettily. The sale section is usually much better stocked than that of the downtown store. And the customer service is good - I recently had to return a dress from which I'd removed the tag, and they didn't give me any lip about it. I feel like the people working at Anthropologie can somehow sense that I'm a fraud, though. Do they somehow know that I can't afford that $240 chemise? Is it obvious that it won't fit my curvaceous figure, and they resent the waste of time that is returning it to the rack? The staff are smiley and courteous, but I sense a grimace underneath the pleasant facade. Perhaps that's not for me, though. It's probably for the entitled, WASP-y women who shop there all day and would not think twice about buying a $700 antlered tureen. read more

I admit it, I have a problem with Anthropologie both on line and in real life. I love wondering through this store, running my hands over the dresses, fingering the necklaces and bracelets, gazing longingly at the little knobs and tea cups. Sometimes I just go there to wander around and relax and of course, end up buying something delicious anyway. If you're looking for old fashioned glass door knobs, a cute blouse with a bit of a vintage vibe, flowery china plates or a Mad Men dress for an evening out that you don't have to duke it out to win on Ebay, Anthro is the place for you. Some of their sweaters and blouses have that hand made, thrift store find that you will not be able to resist. They have a great selection of denim and pants that rival Nordstroms. My only complaint is the price, but if you're patient and lucky you can find things on sale tucked away on the sales racks. read more

I might buy an article of clothing here once a year (usually during sidewalk sale or after xmas sale), but I come here to browse browse browse a LOT. I love their home and kitchen stuff. Cute dishes/bowls/mugs and linens/aprons/shams along with office supplies in adorable prints (file folders, note pads, etc) and yummy candles/soaps/lotions. Admittedly, even their sale items are on the steep side...$30 for a tshirt with a doily embellishment? Eh, I bought it and I wear it a lot! So you have to really figure out if you'll get enough wear out of the price. The pieces I have purchased there, I have worn enough...just be patient. :) Tip: If you know someone who works there...they have these overnight inventory/tagging events, during the crack of dawn, before their big sales...after you volunteer your time, you get X% off that day's shopping. Kind of cool. That's what one of my assistants did once..I wondered why she didn't show up, heh. read more

My greatest hope is that someday I'll be able to afford to shop the whole store - not just the clearance rack. It would get 5 stars if I felt like I could shop there guilt-free, but the pricing brings it down a notch. I love, love, LOVE the clothes here (especially their skirts & dresses), and their selection of home stuff is also adorable - but I just can't quite bring myself to pay $80 for a cardigan, $50 for a tee, or over $100 for an everyday dress. That said, the clearance racks have some INCREDIBLE deals (I once scored a very cute sundress for $30, originally $120!!! - that I wore to death). I find the U Village store to be a better in that regard than downtown. The sales staff seems friendlier there too. I'd definitely come here to splurge on a fancier-dress for a special occasion, and I'll continue to scan the sale racks for good deals, and the home stuff for super-cute dishes, towels, and other neat things. I LOVE Anthropologie! Let me preface by saying that I don't buy clothes here because I'm middle aged, and, everything there seems to be size 0, but, I DO buy home decor and gifts. They have a lot of unique items as well as useful ones... from decorated plates, bowls, coffee cups, planters, glass knobs for cabinet doors, candles, cool hooks to put on the wall & an ever changing array of other home decor items. I love to browse through the sale room which is right behind the cash registers (you will miss it if you don't know it's there). My only issue is that a lot of things are ovepriced. I stay away from that stuff and more in line with my own budget. It's fun to look around the store & take it in. (There's a KILLER one in Santa Monica too, if you're ever there!) read more

I love Anthropologie in theory. Their mix of carefully curated pieces with mass-produced funky/pretty items is very captivating and I find myself spending a ton of time walking around the store looking at things. Today I saw the most amazing canopy bed made of what looked like regular old plumbing pipe, of course dressed to the hilt in frilly, pretty bed linens. So why do I rarely buy anything at Anthropologie? I'm not afraid to spend a few dollars now and then when I see something I like. Partially I think it's because I have to rush out the door when I get overwhelmed by the candle smells. And I would definitely buy clothes there if they carried plus sizes. But mostly I think the store itself is more lovely than any one thing in it. I do find cute things for the home from time to time, though. read more
