I went in today to grab some fun Van Halen shirts (love their 80's rock & roll selection) and had more options than I expected! They had VH sweatshirts in 3 colors and multiple sizes. I got amazing service trying to find my vintage denim shorts size, which I have learned is a little trickier said than done. Staff were SUPER friendly and helpful and excited to be of assistance. This place has such a fun blend of western meets rock and roll, their stylists even pulled a few pieces I loved, but as hard as it is when I go in here, I do my best to stick to a budget. They have great incense too, and I was excited to see they have a new fragrance line since the last time I was in. THE spot in the city for bolo ties and cowboy boots. Terrible customer service. I had double checked during the purchase process that I could return and receive a true refund for my purchase. Twice I was told I could receive a full refund, NOT store credit. It was a gift and I was unsure if the size and style would work for the person I was getting it for. Literally four days later I bring the product back, tags, receipt, everything, and I was suddenly told they can only offer store credit. Previously, I had been explicitly assured that a standard refund was possible, there was no miscommunication, I was very specific, but upon return the story had changed and I was told their system has no way of refunding it even if they wanted to. Which of course is not completely true. I understand policy, no problem, but if one of your employees makes a mistake and specifically confirms a different refund policy pre purchase, then you should honor that.. period. Otherwise you're scamming people. Terrible customer service, manager stared at me as if I was speaking a different language. So disappointing, I wish I never got tricked into buying. read more

I truly enjoy this store, but I will never purchase anything from them again. Every item in the store is overpriced by 300% to 1000% over its value. I regret being scammed. I am all for local businesses, but the used "vintage" boots I bought at $198+ (w/o tax) are worth $40 on Poshmark, and $65 new from the maker. The "leather" jacket I bought for $400+ from Scully, online is $65-$85, and in better condition. Well, it's a used boots store, so buyer beware. But really, BUYER BEWARE. My son had saved up for some fancy boots and after a lot of reflection he bought some nice-looking reptile skin ones. The staff congratulated him on a fine choice. The first time he wore them the skins separated irreparably, which we were told by a cobbler was due to storing them in bad conditions. OK, they were used. But my son was really disappointed, so I wrote several emails and made several phone calls to the store asking for some compensation, maybe just in the form of a discount on another pair. I know the messages went through, but NOTHING. Just ghosting. So be aware that, despite the surface friendliness, these people don't seem to care much about longterm customer relations. Maybe they have enough tourist trade that passing off flawed stuff does not have a high price for them -- only for the disappointed customer. read more

LOVE. THIS. STORE. I would say that this store reminds me of the Donnie & Marie song "A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock-and-Roll", but Donnie & Marie are horribly lame and this shop is beyond legit. But yeah, kinda country. Kinda rock and roll. Lots of western-style clothes, some vintage and some new. Rock band t-shirts. Tons of boots. Lots of hats. Lots of jewelry. This is where I ended up spending my time and money. Guys! I got the dopest ring! It's an old motorcycle gang ring that has been re-stoned. It's definitely a bold statement piece, but I frickin love it. I get a huge number of complements on it. The staff is very, very friendly. I ended up sticking around a while just chatting them up as we discussed the store, our hometowns, and more. They're lovely ladies and they have the customer service/hospitality thing down to a T. I went into their store today and there were at least 4-5 people not wearing masks. The staff were talking with them like nothing was wrong. It is a small store and no way to distance from these people. Goodbye forever. In regards to the owner's statement: the staff were wearing masks that is correct. That group made it into the back of the store, which is where they were when I walked into them. I'm not sure how the staff let them get that far into the store without dealing with it. I saw not a even a mask in hand. I'm also not sure how that group got from all the way out of state without being aware of the statewide policy and just happened to be in this little store in Ballard. The dressing rooms are not sealed off from the rest of the store so that doesn't feel like a reasonable solution when they should be going outside for a break if needed because of a medical condition. Also why wouldn't the staff give other customers a heads up of the situation? I was in there maybe five or six minutes before realizing that those customers were in there. In addition to posting this review I also mentioned this on my Instagram story to warn my friends of this place. Gold Dogs account did not respond to me at all even though they saw my post immediately. Instead they posted a few hours later a group selfie of them all wearing masks and not social distancing. It felt passive aggressive and unprofessional. They didn't mention any of this to me directly in a DM which makes it feel like this story isn't a completely honest account of what happened. I have been to this shop twice now and I have always had such pleasant experiences with the help I've received and the items I have purchased. Today a friend and I came in to the shop, and were met by 2 women employees that were both on their phone, very disrespectful and did not greet us or even look up. We spent considerable time in the store and not once did they ask to assist. In fact, they spent the entire time *very loudly* speaking ill of another woman employee in front of all the other customers in the store about how much of a "b*tch" she was and how "the idiot doesn't even know how to close the shop". It was so inappropriate and so loud considering there were 4 other customers in the store. I was shocked and hope that management addresses this. read more

I can't figure out what I like the most about Gold Dogs. Is it the largest assortment of Brixton hats I've seen in Seattle? Their GIGANTIC selection of Stance socks (which, if you've never worn them are totally worth the $15-$25 per pair)? Or the fact that they carry an amazing selection of vintage/new clothing, fun and unique jewelry and accessories? Beyond the multitude of things you can spend your money on, the people that work here are so god.damn.friendly and are a breath of fresh air after you've spent your afternoon interacting with the generic or shitty-Ballard-hipster-attitude sales people you'll find in most of the stores in the neighborhood. read more

I love this little shop. Well, you may know I love boots. Oh, do I love them. And this place is full of them. The staff I've met are all nice as can be and so helpful. Overdyed slips, cowboy boots, rockabilly shirts, jewlery, purses and some vintage luggage were the things I was pawing and pawing during my visit. I walked out empty handed, but not because there were a million things I wanted, only because I had to plot my return with a truck to fit it all in the next time. The staff here are always extremely helpful and they really know what they have in stock and are always eager to help. Gold Dogs carries a lot of up-cycled dresses, skirts, and shirts, and they always have an amazing array of colors and designs. While their selection of clothes are beyond amazing, Gold Dogs REALLY ups the ante with their selection if accessories. They have the most beautiful selection of belts, bags, jewelry, and shoes. Neat vintage shop with a little bit of a western flare. Boots galore with some leather and flannel thrown in there too. Found a cool pair of boots that I wouldn't consider vintage and the price tag made me laugh as I thought "I could buy brand new for that price". If I'm shopping for vintage, I want real vintage. Not overpriced used goods. But that's my only complaint about this place. Pretty cool other than that. I did manage to come away with a cool bracelet and ring, both for under 30 bucks. There is also a second location which was actually the first location. It is at the corner of 3rd ave NW and NW 65th. It is a small space organized and full of all kinds of well priced, afordable boots for men and women. I really loved that they had belts and a neighborhood cat hanging out. These women know and love their boots! There are plenty of sizes and shapes to choose from and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend checking out either one of their stores. Very affordable, for the quality of gear. This smaller location is cash only but they have a small parking lot off the street. read more

Been dying to make it by here and finally did on Sunday. I am super picky about my vintage and as any treasure hunter knows, some stores are sickly overwhelming. This place is amazing. Adorable location, wonderfully presented pieces that defy the stale smell of vintage. Soooo affordable and all of the pieces from stunning cowgirl boots, vintage beaded clutches, dresses, sweet men's snap-up plaids to repurposed costume jewelry are in pristine condition.
