Sun May is one of those tchotchkes, knick-knacks, cutesy, maybe useful, and antique places that words can hardly describe. It is very small but well-stocked nonetheless. Connie is the proprietor who is cheerful to all who enters; her family has kept this shop going for generations. Even though she is open for only two(?) days a week, shoppers just know to come visit. It's almost legendary. Her regular visitors sit on the stool shooting the breeze with her while the rest of us trip on that same stool when it is vacant. It is a habitual thing that we just know will happen. The paper cranes outside and inside commemorate Donnie Chin, whose murder is not yet solved. Though I am not a regular shopper, it is always a pleasure to see what I can discover there. Being the start of lunar new year, Connie had horse themed cute items on hand. We selected a colorful horse and a ceramic ram for next year. Prices are reasonable. Come, shop, or just say a hello, Connie will welcome you.

Went in to look for a Ren Faire costume and it had a great selection of both regular clothing and costumes/clothes that would work for a costume. The owner went above and beyond, leaving the store to add some more of her Ren Faire inventory for us to browse. The person working the register was clearly very passionate about their job, curating cute outfits for mannequins and displays. They were also so kind to us. The prices are great, especially for a vintage store. There were definitely some items that I don't think are considered vintage, but it was well curated. I'm excited to go back and look for some more clothing. Only complaint is the music was just a touch too loud for me.

This was my first time bringing my daughter here (age 13), and that caused a one bit of discomfort for me: the employees and a friend/guest/customer were discussing drug experiences with one another. I don't recall the specifics (or even whether it was the employees who were contributing most to the conversation). It was just a conversation I'd prefer she not be present to hear. --I'm not taking away stars for this, however, because I don't think 13 year olds are their target clientele and, as a parent, I brought her to this place that is frequented by college students more often than not. Pink tags were 1/2 off and unlike the stores in Reno, they don't take pink tags off the racks before the sale! There are fitting rooms, and it's all very clean and organized. This is a well-oiled machine here. Home goods side, with furniture, and for that alone I wish I had a UHAUL truck backed up. My cousin spent $150 and I spent about $75 and we spent about 3 hours there. Easily could have spent all day, but it was a thrifting kind of day, so we hit several stores the same day. Took away a star because they don't allow you to use their restrooms anymore. We would have spent more time and money, but they closed their bathrooms to the public (stupid).

It was great seeing the updated posts leading to their grand opening today in West Seattle's Admiral District (7/8/23). Traffic was merciful on I-5S through downtown Seattle to get to the West Seattle Bridge. Street parking was a challenge near the busy intersection of Admiral and California, but patience pays off with a free spot with two hour limit. Lots of amenities, retail, cafes, and restaurants all in proximity. I was warmly greeted at the entrance and it sure was filled with happy shoppers and browsers, like myself. I love how each table, shelf, wall hanging were thoughtfully curated. Eye catching displays. Great gift and home decor ideas. Clothing and accessories that would excite your need for well deserved retail therapy. I tend to favor local, indie businesses, so wishing them all the best at Hoste. I did splurge on a handmade item to add to my collection. Stop by if you're in the neighborhood!

Very cool vintage and consignment store. Steve and I were strolling around in the White Center…read moreneighborhood and saw this shop. We were kind of drawn by the window display and went in. Practically all of the clothing is geared towards women. I saw plenty of cool stuff though. Steve saw a great leather jacket but it wasn't his size or cut. But despite all of that the inventory here is really great and some of the items are real gems. If you are into vintage clothing shops definitely swing by and take a peek.

A majority of the clothing is definitely female-based but there's still a decent-sized men's section, and I (a guy) managed to find what I needed to complete my fit. Susan has always had an individual point of view, which happens to correlate with mine. Her pieces are handpicked and this shop, in my opinion, is one of the very few (2) places in Seattle where you may find antiques and vintage items, not junk. Because while almost everything here is truly vintage, it feels like you could take it home and put it right to use, particularly if you are inspired by the cottage meets vintage vibe. Well curated, well stocked, and put together with a great eye, this is a nice buttoned up and traditional juxtaposition to the more modern, industrial, dust-bowl sideshow inspired Kirk Albert next door. What a fun place to walk around, browse and get inspired! In particular, they have great mirrors and unique ornate frames here, that are in really excellent condition.
