I've long looked for this booth at markets and group sales because I would always find something I fell in love with. They have a brick and mortar in the sweetest neighborhood, and I'm so thrilled that sales run out of the studio and storefront these days. Sun May is one of those tchotchkes, knick-knacks, cutesy, maybe useful, and antique places that words can hardly describe. It is very small but well-stocked nonetheless. Connie is the proprietor who is cheerful to all who enters; her family has kept this shop going for generations. Even though she is open for only two(?) days a week, shoppers just know to come visit. It's almost legendary. Her regular visitors sit on the stool shooting the breeze with her while the rest of us trip on that same stool when it is vacant. It is a habitual thing that we just know will happen. The paper cranes outside and inside commemorate Donnie Chin, whose murder is not yet solved. Though I am not a regular shopper, it is always a pleasure to see what I can discover there. Being the start of lunar new year, Connie had horse themed cute items on hand. We selected a colorful horse and a ceramic ram for next year. Prices are reasonable. Come, shop, or just say a hello, Connie will welcome you.

Her pieces are handpicked and this shop, in my opinion, is one of the very few (2) places in Seattle where you may find antiques and vintage items, not junk. Because while almost everything here is truly vintage, it feels like you could take it home and put it right to use, particularly if you are inspired by the cottage meets vintage vibe. Well curated, well stocked, and put together with a great eye, this is a nice buttoned up and traditional juxtaposition to the more modern, industrial, dust-bowl sideshow inspired Kirk Albert next door. What a fun place to walk around, browse and get inspired! In particular, they have great mirrors and unique ornate frames here, that are in really excellent condition. Why buy new, when you can buy something with history and real character to enhance your living space?

Artizia, Columbia, Dr. Martens, etc. you name it. This Goodwill is like a Marshall. I shopped like I don't have a 3-hour fly back with just a personal belongings. BUT I CANT PASS. At this Goodwill store, you'll be relieved that the garment racks are not lengthy, and are also curated for thresholds of wearability and quality. Within 1/2 hour of entering I found a belt and the right color summer top I was hoping to find. Prices were $5.99. Grateful that it wasn't jacked up like other thrift stores "for inflation." Some of us are here to sidestep inflation! I didn't have the energy to walk down the perilous stairway into the household goods basement but it looked equally nicely laid out. Props to the sophisticated and warm, engaging staff who worked the floor offering humor, second opinions, and help finding mirrors. Other than the lack of mirrors, (ONLY 2 on the floor) this place seems like it will keep giving lucky finds and useful bits and bobs of clothing! Located around the corner from the best little taquerias, bars, and cafes, you can use your saved pennies for treats!

It was great seeing the updated posts leading to their grand opening today in West Seattle's Admiral District (7/8/23). Traffic was merciful on I-5S through downtown Seattle to get to the West Seattle Bridge. Street parking was a challenge near the busy intersection of Admiral and California, but patience pays off with a free spot with two hour limit. Lots of amenities, retail, cafes, and restaurants all in proximity. I was warmly greeted at the entrance and it sure was filled with happy shoppers and browsers, like myself. I love how each table, shelf, wall hanging were thoughtfully curated. Eye catching displays. Great gift and home decor ideas. Clothing and accessories that would excite your need for well deserved retail therapy. I tend to favor local, indie businesses, so wishing them all the best at Hoste. I went on a holiday where the parking lot was packed with street parking full as well. I didn't see people with loads of things they were buying. For instance, an older genuine leather credit card and checkbook holder (I.e. not a complete wallet) was priced at $20. Used David's Bridal formals at $60-$80. Keep in mind that any used formal will need to be cleaned before wearing, which adds to the price of buying a used dress. David's Bridal sells bridesmaids dresses with two different webpages on their website. Dresses under $100 and Dresses under $70. I drove to this store specifically because I'd heard they had quality things at good prices and my daughter was hoping to find a formal dress. While I did find most of their books reasonably priced, I won't take the time to go back.
