I had a truly terrible experience at this store that still bothers me to this day…read more I liked this store because it was basically on my doorstep, and it had a good selection of cards. After patronizing this place for a while, I was asked not to come back to this store. Naturally I was curious as to why they would do this to a repeat customer. I was told that I had made an employee uncomfortable- by flirting with them!! I was gobsmacked as to why anyone would think that. I'm a talker- I talk to everyone I meet the same way, but this person thought I was flirting with them. Perhaps they have too much main character energy to think that. Perhaps they found my chattiness annoying- not everyone is going to be delighted by me- but why, WHY would they not just tell me they were busy and couldn't talk? Did they feel they were being held hostage? I saw Standard Goods as a neighborhood spot. Keep in mind I wasn't camping out at the store; I'd say my average visit was -20 minutes, and I wasn't there frequently. This just doesn't make any sense to me. I'm forced to consider the possibility they felt ill at ease around me due to my disablity- I'm legally blind and my eyes look different, some people aren't comfortable with that that's their problem. Even if that's not the case, it still really hurt when they asked me not to come back. What is this, high school? Yes, I cried. They made me feel like my presence was a nuisanc. It left an impact. question whether people want me around. There were so many other ways they could have dealt with it and at the same time keep in mind that I was a customer with feelings. I get the distinct sense that they don't care about customers or the community. It's good for managers to take their employees' concerns seriously- Just not like this. I visit Seattle a couple times a year from San Francisco, and I'm always really excited to explore some of the vintage shops in the area, and I recently stumbled upon Revival, which is a true gem in Capitol Hill. I was warmly greeted by the owner, Ashley who has a really fun and unique ascetic mixing old with new. I found so many beautiful unique skirts and tops, and I even scooped up a pair of beautiful earrings for my mother-in-law that was made by a local jewelry designer. Revival is fantastically curated -- full unique vintage pieces at a really great price point. There's also a nice selection of locally made jewelry, home goods (candles, pillows, macramé, ceramics), and even a small section of art prints and zines by local artists. It's the perfect place to come when you're looking for a gift. I always fall in love with something here and rarely leave empty-handed. Spoiler alert: That marvelous chair in the window is not for sale. Love the vibe here. I would not…read morerecommend any one to work with this company as the service has been poor and borderline suspicious. I dropped off a large bag at the Madrona store, the in-store staff were pleasant. 12 items were selected and 4 were returned. I appreciated that they took the initiative to email me that 1 item was deemed lost. They advised that they would try to find it and after no updates, I had to follow up. THEY (the folks who email do not provide any names but a signature of Eres) stated that they "lost" my $200 brand new with tags Aritzia dress and to make it right, they will pay out $8 stating that since it didn't sell, they will consider it a markdown item, THEN still apply their cut and payout a remaining $8 to me. Why should they be getting a cut of my dress if they lost it? They then emailed me the fine print which states, they are not liable for any lost items under ANY circumstances. With this policy what protects a consignor from even a staff member from selling it offline or taking it themselves? All they emailed me is that they can't find it. I am not accusing anyone other than it leaves the business in an oddly good place and the consigner is a bad one. Please note, this is my FIRST time consigning with this company and was left feeling like 1) they do not have a well-run business to lose items so easily, 2) do not want any accountability by negating to provide staff contact names in communication 3) poor communication as it can take a week if not more for a response and 4) very quick to apply a hefty discount to your items to sell fast without prior notice to the consigner. There should be an option for consignors to pick their items up before a drastic markdown. In addition, there seemed to be a lack of remorse and an understanding of their customers' point of view. Their argument will be "read the fine print" and so if you do consign here, I'd recommend providing items you're willing to donate. I am incredibly disappointed I consigned here as I mistakenly assumed a nice town and storefront would yield reasonable service and wanted to share my experience to prevent this happening to others.
