The jewelry corner and the vintage/retro room (that also has discount shoes).

As soon as I moved into the Central District a month and a half ago, my new housemates encouraged me to check out Two Big Blondes not far away, and they were correct. This consignment store distinguishes itself from your average trendy resale boutique in Seattle in a number of ways: 1. The sizes. Two Big Blondes carries clothing in size 14 and up. The "Big" in the name is not whimsy or false advertising; the Blondes are dedicated to making sure people whose size shuts them out of glamorous attire in most places have a source of beautiful things. The shoes are also size 8 and up, which is a happy thing for those of us (male, female, or anything in between) who do not have dainty feet but still wish to wear gorgeous shoes. On the off chance a customer does have a slim build and small feet, there are still some wonderful accessories and jewelry pieces available for browsing. 2. The selection. Especially given the particular sizes they carry, Two Big Blondes does a remarkable job of curating a wonderful array of interesting, unusual, and beautiful clothing. 3. The quality of service. Everyone employed at the Blondes carries with them an air of comfort and amiability, as if they know they are working at a good independent business that treats both employees and customers well (my conclusion: they are in fact doing this). They engage with customers respectfully and helpfully, being neither uselessly aloof nor excessively attentive. 4. The reasonable prices. Two Big Blondes is not by nature a discount or thrift shop, but I have frequently found quality items (from jewelry to bags to jackets) here for shockingly affordable prices, both on and off the sales and clearance racks. 5. The tagging system: this store has an employee dedicated to making sure all items for sale are tagged with detailed, accurate, useful information far above and beyond what I have seen any other store in this town provide. But above and beyond all these reasons to recommend Two Big Blondes, I offer you another one: 6. This store is deeply engaged with the community. It has been here in the Central District for some 25 years, and everyone loves it for a reason. In addition to general consignment items, the Blondes sell products by local artists and craftspeople while making available information about these independent artisans near their products. They also regularly offer free supplies such as a variety of quality coat hangers, and at times they host coat and clothing drives for those in need. Two Big Blondes is a rare thing in our modern brutally capitalist society: a source of both beautiful, fairly-priced products and a kindly sense of community.

Nice place but a bit to pricey for me. Have been there several times in attempt to find something I specifically wanted. But to no avail.

I had been…read moresearching near and far for a top hat for my groom for the last year, and was starting to freak out with only 2 months left. Not only did they talk us through how to measure his head at our home and all the specifications from our weirdly inspired vision of his wedding look, they rushed out and got his custom order made and ready with nearly 2 weeks to spare! They were wonderful, the hat was perfect, and it all worked out magically! Eternally grateful for you all! Thank you!

I bought these shoes, have worn them about 5-6 times in the past year and they're already flaking. And it took forever to get these shoes since I was sold one size 10 and once size 11 shoe. The missing shoe of my size was at the NOLA store. It took over a mo th to get to me and they didn't even apologize for the inconvenience and made me drive to Seattle to pick up the shoe. Was willing to forgive and order again. Ordered $500 in shoes and they wanted to charge me $50 for shipping. I constantly emailed them questioning this huge fee with no response. So I took my business elsewhere after a couple of weeks. Then they called me acting like it was a surprise I cancelled the order. If you want any semblance of good customer service and quality products, you're better shopping online at other reputable companies

Sun May is one of those tchotchkes, knick-knacks, cutesy, maybe useful, and antique places that words can hardly describe. It is very small but well-stocked nonetheless. Connie is the proprietor who is cheerful to all who enters; her family has kept this shop going for generations. Even though she is open for only two(?) days a week, shoppers just know to come visit. It's almost legendary. Her regular visitors sit on the stool shooting the breeze with her while the rest of us trip on that same stool when it is vacant. It is a habitual thing that we just know will happen. The paper cranes outside and inside commemorate Donnie Chin, whose murder is not yet solved. Though I am not a regular shopper, it is always a pleasure to see what I can discover there. Being the start of lunar new year, Connie had horse themed cute items on hand. We selected a colorful horse and a ceramic ram for next year. Prices are reasonable. Come, shop, or just say a hello, Connie will welcome you.
