I was in panic shopping mode looking for a pink sweater to wear to a baby shower, when I remembered a friend had recommended Two Big Blondes. Since I was staying not-that-far-away, I popped in right after they opened! I was blown away by the sheer size of this place. It looks small on the outside, but it's quite spacious and they literally carry everything. From their designer and vintage sections to a large shoe area, tons of jewelry, handbags, and of course plus size clothing, there was a LOT to occupy my time. When I arrived, the kind woman at the counter gave me the lay of the land, and then I was set free to explore the store. The other two staff members were extremely helpful, too, as I loaded my arms with all sorts of things to try on. I ended up leaving with the aforementioned pink sweater (phew!) and a couple of other things. This is the kind of place you definitely want to keep coming back to, as their inventory is always changing. I've been familiar with the store for over a decade. Note when the most positive reviews were written, because things have changed recently. The store has been physically modified (new flooring) over the past several years so the physical plant has improved some. The product has deteriorated significantly in the past 18-24 months. Purchasing perspective: the amount of clothing they have in inventory has exploded, and quality has deteriorated. The "premium" labels are few, dated, and often very heavily worn. For example, the usually popular Eileen Fisher items were so worn I couldn't possibly justify purchase, even on sale. The non-premium, mainstream product is much more heavily used than it used to be. It used to be possible to find gems if you looked hard. No more. The product looks dingy and - frankly - very used. Selling perspective: given the above, you would think there would be demand for new or lightly worn garments and mid-range and premium labels. However, the consignment experience has become a nightmare. The owner is good about creating inventory lists; they are well-organized that way. However, there have been a lot of arbitrary, unreal reasons for not accepting product, large amounts of "donated" (sellers can choose donation or pickup of unsold clothing) items. I don't know if it's because there's too much inventory in the store for people to find the good stuff, but a large number of premium label, unused items have recently failed to sell through and been donated. I think this is probably because of this accumulation of low-value items, and they have reduced the intake, which is reasonable. It makes more hassle for sellers though.and instead of owning this situation, the normally pleasant staff have been rude and abrasive. This situation is a failure to curate, not the fault of the seller. It's become a frustrating consignment experience. Hopefully the situation will improve over time as they donate the junky items that will fail to sell. read more

As soon as I moved into the Central District a month and a half ago, my new housemates encouraged me to check out Two Big Blondes not far away, and they were correct. This consignment store distinguishes itself from your average trendy resale boutique in Seattle in a number of ways: 1. The sizes. Two Big Blondes carries clothing in size 14 and up. The "Big" in the name is not whimsy or false advertising; the Blondes are dedicated to making sure people whose size shuts them out of glamorous attire in most places have a source of beautiful things. The shoes are also size 8 and up, which is a happy thing for those of us (male, female, or anything in between) who do not have dainty feet but still wish to wear gorgeous shoes. On the off chance a customer does have a slim build and small feet, there are still some wonderful accessories and jewelry pieces available for browsing. 2. The selection. Especially given the particular sizes they carry, Two Big Blondes does a remarkable job of curating a wonderful array of interesting, unusual, and beautiful clothing. 3. The quality of service. Everyone employed at the Blondes carries with them an air of comfort and amiability, as if they know they are working at a good independent business that treats both employees and customers well (my conclusion: they are in fact doing this). They engage with customers respectfully and helpfully, being neither uselessly aloof nor excessively attentive. 4. The reasonable prices. Two Big Blondes is not by nature a discount or thrift shop, but I have frequently found quality items (from jewelry to bags to jackets) here for shockingly affordable prices, both on and off the sales and clearance racks. 5. The tagging system: this store has an employee dedicated to making sure all items for sale are tagged with detailed, accurate, useful information far above and beyond what I have seen any other store in this town provide. But above and beyond all these reasons to recommend Two Big Blondes, I offer you another one: 6. This store is deeply engaged with the community. It has been here in the Central District for some 25 years, and everyone loves it for a reason. In addition to general consignment items, the Blondes sell products by local artists and craftspeople while making available information about these independent artisans near their products. They also regularly offer free supplies such as a variety of quality coat hangers, and at times they host coat and clothing drives for those in need. I have found great items for special occasions that I plan on using for years and years. They have great shoes and even bras and shaping garments. there is something fishy about this store. I lost 75 pounds due to cancer. I brought in more than 100 items of designer clothes I wore for a career I had to give up . All purchased within 3 years. Many with tags still on. Mostly Eileen fisher, johnny was, etc. Not things that go out of style. They were almost all 2x, some 1x . They marked majority 22 on inventory. None were 22. Never bought anything that size. When I called to correct this, the woman refused. Super rude and snippy. Would not even double check. Then only about 1/3 were excepted for sale. The rest donated to their own charity. That seems like a dubious tax scheme? Then, only got $200 at the end of 90 days. Had to call multiple times for check. They won't send any money automatically. That seems a bit suspect too. How much do they pocket? The store is largely filled with clothes of much lower value than what I brought in. I don't recommend it for anything even approaching designer clothes. I was just too exhausted after chemo to do my research. Anyway, I wish I would have just donated everything to a reputable charity and received a legit receipt for my taxes. read more

If you're dying from breathing issues then don't walk in here because if you take your mask off to take a puff of your inhaler because something hit me wrong as I came through the door she'll ask you to put your mask on as "they wear masks in there". Tried to explain that to her she said I can go breathe outside. I'm a freak about masks but I guess breathing vs wearing your masks is not so important. This upcoming weekend is their amazing bag sale and although I will not be able to attend I did stop in this past week for the first time. Shopping spree! 20 pieces of clothing later plus a new pair of water proof boots... wow. I spent about 10-20 dollars per item. Some of the clothes were still new with tags. I am a size 14 and the selection was incredible! The clothes are not 'hip' or 'trendy' nor are they 'vintage'. I think the clothes are good for job interviews and business conferences and semi-professional events. I'm in my late 30's and it was a good fit for me. They have lots of wedding dresses. I love their sales that come around several times a year. It's hard for a girl to find plus size clothes at your usual thrift shops, and this is great. A bit pricey, but better than buying brand new and the clothes aren't in bad quality at all. Especially if you're looking to be more sustainable. I snagged a new job and needed a whole new wardrobe, and I was super nervous about the impact that'd have on my wallet. But TBB made that worry dissipate. They have a large selection of good quality and cute clothes, shoes, jewelry, and other accessories. The staff was over-the-top helpful and friendly. The price tags were pretty phenomenal. This store is absolutely da BOMB. I haven't shopped much in stores much this past year (takes too much energy/poor health) but when I do I try here first. I almost always walk away with something *in my size* that fits beautifully... something I have been looking for but just couldn't find. Nice items all of the way up to designer labels ... which you can sometimes find in their clearance section. And ... they have layaway!! So if you have time but no money (I usually have one or the other not both at the same time ) ... no problem. Put a few dollars down and pay it down over time. I adore TBB. I've been consigning there for years, and have been a customer for even longer. It's such a lovely feeling to know when I walk through the door that there will definitely be high quality, funky clothes that fit me. Prices are exceptionally reasonable, and the staff are awesome at helping me. This is definitely my happy shopping place, plus building up cash or and store credit (my favorite because you get a bigger percentage back) easily adds up. If you decide to consign and/or shop, don't limit yourself to just clothes. TBB carries accessories like jewelry, purses, shoes, and some cosmetics as well. The other fabulous thing is TBB always - ALWAYS - gives back to the community by showcasing locally sourced items, donating to various organizations, and using their platform to feature local nonprofits too. I loved the women that worked there, they were really welcoming and kind! They had a really wide selection of clothing to choose from, most things were $18+ but that's affordable especially since they have name brand like Torrid and the clothes were in in great condition. Also there's a "Sales Room" where the clearance items are, it's from 25-75% off so make sure you check that out, I found some really cute things in there. LOVE THIS PLACE. Two Big Blondes is a haven for plus size clothing, starting around a size 14 (they have some items that are labeled "large" in their size 14 sections so it's a little nebulous). They have a huge, very well organized space that has every kind of clothing and accessory you can possibly imagine. Dresses, tops, sweaters, coats, skirts, pants (organized by size and then by subcategory - SO GOOD), lingerie, bras, bags, jewelry, shoes, you name it. They have it. And their selection is great quality, stylish, and very reasonably priced! They get new items in all the time too, so there's always some new treasure to find. Or 20 treasures, in my case. Most days I can look down at my outfit and at least half of what I'm wearing is from TBB! This store is so necessary to the Seattle community! It's beyond rare to actually be able to try on plus size clothing without ordering online, especially in sizes past 18, and it's even more rare that the clothing you're able to try on is trendy, cool, and interesting. Found this place via Yelp and convinced my mom to go with me to find it. We were very glad we did. We spent at least 2 hours in here, trying on tons of clothes. My mom even tried on wedding dresses just for fun. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the layout was easy to get around. The thing that amazed me most however, was that there were fans in every dressing room. Being a big lady, I can get a little hot trying on clothes and this place understands that. Worth a visit, even if you're not plus size. Especially worth a visit if you like vintage costume jewelry. Usually, vintage jewelry comes in two categories: interesting and expensive, or ugly and cheap. The challenge, for me, is to find the one gem in a haystack of junk at stores like Salvation Army and Goodwill. And with the popularity of Mad Men, even the Goodwill people are recognizing the good stuff and saving it for their overpriced "treasures" boutiques or eBay store. But then there is Two Big Blondes, which has a treasure trove of "grandma jewelry" at reasonable prices. I was always curious about the place (right near my house) and wandered in one holiday weekend when they were having their annual sale. I'm not plus size, so I never thought it was for me, until I saw their jewelry counter. Came away with a 1930's-era necklace and earring set (clip-ons, of all things), a wonderful starburst brooch (early 1960's, I think), and even a rhinestone initial pin from the 80s bought for sentimental value (I used to have one just like it in high school). I also found a great, brand-new tote bag for 90 percent off, so it came out to less than four dollars. The jewelry was also on sale; I think the whole spree set me back less than $20. About the clothes, they have a huge selection ranging from size 14-16 on up. I would highly recommend it for someone seeking a dress-up outfit (for a formal event or wedding); lots of expensive-looking designer wear. The clothing ran the gamut from casual sportswear to wedding dresses. They also had a lot of stylish maternity clothes. Service was OK; they weren't exactly effusive and warm but that's fine. I got some weird looks from some customers, but WTF, I had just come from a sample sale, where everything was a size zero, and I got weird looks from those customers, too. When she left they promptly took down the 'fetish' sign where all the fun stuff was and re-integrated it into the general stock. Shoes, bras, formal, casual, coats, hats (lots of hats), accessories. In the drafty, spidery old back room they now are sub-letting to a nice chick who has a weird little antiquey-junk shop area. I found a gnarly book from 1910 about steam engineering and electrics for $6.! The dressing rooms are large and nice. The ladies there are also large and nice. Parking is easy either on street in front or in their dedicated lot in the back. The variety is good, you can find your typical Avenue/lane bryant type shit but also good quality stuff from Nordstroms and other higher- end clothes. Easy to spend a couple hours there. I would give this place a MILLION stars!! I needed a total wardrobe overhaul. I dyed my hair and gained about 15 lbs and I was basically starting from scratch. I was NOT impressed with the current selection of flowy mumu tops available at most plus size stores. So, my bestie (also plus sized) and I went to check out Two Big Blondes and we were absolutely blown away! Everything is clean and organized by SIZE. If you're a thrift store junkie like me you know how valuable this can be. No sifting through a million yellow shirts just to see if there's one that's your size. And you don't have to accidentally fall in love with that dress that will never fit you. The clothes look new. They must have pretty high standards for what they will buy because everything I picked up was in great shape, with very light wear. Two of the items I purchased still had tags on them. I even bought a pair of brand-new looking shoes, and I normally don't buy second hand shoes. The girls who work there are fabulous. Everyone was SO friendly and helpful! Normally at consignment shops I barely get a nod of welcome, but these girls were all about helping us find what we needed. After coming out of my dressing room to show my friend one dress which was cute but too big, one of the girls working there brought me another awesome wrap dress that I hadn't seen before. They know what's in their inventory a lot better than I do, so I was very grateful for the help and have never gotten that level of service at a consignment store before! Also all the girls who work there look really cute, which is important to me. It shows they care about their jobs and like their product. :) There are tons of dressing rooms and the environment is fun and upbeat. There are like 10 dressing rooms lining two walls of the store, no dinky closets in the back with lines to try clothes on. We were there on a busy Saturday and were still able to grab two dressing rooms together. There is fun music playing and everyone is really happy and upbeat. Prices are GREAT! I got a couple of wrap shirts, a sweater, a dress, a pair of jeans, and a pair of awesome black pumps for $177 without even shopping clearance racks. NOT too shabby! This is just like any other consignment/used clothing store except the sizes start at 14 and go up to over 32/4X. It is stuffy, can get hot and smells predictably like used stuff (musty). The clothes are outdated, for the most part. The sad truth about plus-sized clothing is exacerbated here, as you witness the plethora of boxy, flowery, silly and cheap items. Here is what they offer: - High end brands (limited selections, of course). - LOTS of junk jewelry, some of it interesting, much of it typical. - Hats, scarves, belts, purses/bags, etc. - Shoes - larger sizes, which is nice, but of course, worn/used. - Some new/tagged items, such as jeans. - Lots of denim. - Coats/jackets for all seasons. - Intimates/lingerie (weird to buy anything except maybe a slip). - Sweaters, turtlenecks. - Vests. - Skirts. - Some "trendy" (youth-oriented) fun pieces - again, a limited selection. - Pants/slacks. - Tank tops, t-thirts - Swimsuits, coverups. - Blouses/shirts, all styles and lengths. - Tunics, robes and housedresses. - Nighties, PJs. - Shorts, skorts. - Dresses and jumpers. - Fancy clothing and even some wedding wear. So, basically, everything. Just listed it all because some places don't have these categories all under one roof. They are set out on racks by size, as expected, and sometimes by color or style. However. You really should set aside at least a half-day to get through it all. There is even a discount room that, while a bit depressing, offers a mixed bag of stuff. They have fans in the dressing rooms! Why they stuff everything together is beyond me. They need more hooks in the dressing rooms and space to get around. They buy your old stuff, too. I just wish the following were true: - That they would WASH every item prior to hanging it up. Most likely, a lot is prewashed, but I suspect that much isn't. - They were more discriminating. So many items are just so ugly or worn out or unflattering/out of date. There should be two sides: the nicer stuff, and the rest. - That the store would be divided into these categories: Sizes 14-18 20-24 26 & up. That way, you could stay in one section of the store and save yourself a lot of time. Also, fewer wrong-sized items would get mixed in, and you wouldn't get as disappointed seeing something that you can't fit into. They do have racks that are fairly well labeled, but it's still a lot of work to go through everything. The racks are really stuffed. They need to thin them out. Many people work here, but they just sit. You need an energized staff that helps customers and is constantly checking, cleaning, organizing, weeding, dusting, etc. The place is kind of dirty and old. I do appreciate what they are trying to do and that it's a huge job, but it's sort of depressing instead of fun. They could get some standing racks on wheels for customers to use, which would encourage more shopping. If someone wants to start a new business, you could go there and rework some of the pieces into more modern, attractive garments. Tip: buy stuff too big and get it altered to your size. And while I realize having the jewelry, bags and accessories may seem fun, they take up a lot of room. You can find that stuff anywhere. Maybe the focus should be on the hard-to-find nice larger clothes. Overall, it was exhausting and a bit depressing. read more

Technically this is a plus size store, but it also has a large selection of shoes, jewelry, hats, scarves, makeup, and other accessories. It's kind of like a clothing swap at somebody's house. For women who are taller (or who just happen to have larger feet), they have a large selection of shoes that are 9.5 or bigger. Pants are separated by petite, regular, and tall. I really appreciated that - I hate finding pants that look awesome only to discover that they have the wrong inseam length. Clothing is all size 12+. In addition to the usual thrift / consignment store items (tops, jeans, blazers, cardigans, etc.) they also have wedding dresses, lingerie / shapewear, swimsuits, exercise clothing, etc. Style-wise, it's all over the map. There's some really questionable 80s wear, some very cute & trendy designer clothing, some bland you-can-wear-it-to-work-or-an-interview items. Pricing is also all over the map - there had normally-expensive items for $10 or less and a designer suit that was $542. They have toys and a place for kids to chill and also have some benches for people who aren't shopping to hang out. It's a consignment store, so if you have clothing in sizes 12+, you can bring it in and leave it for 100 days. They pay 40% of the sale price if you want a check or 50% of the sale price if you want store credit. They seem to have some good sales - items are marked down if they aren't moving quickly. I picked up an awesome DKNY blazer on the 50% off rack. The owner was working the day I went in, so we chatted for awhile. One of the other Yelp reviewers mentioned that she wasn't plus size and got a funny look from the staff. There were several women who didn't appear to be plus size who were checking out the shoes and accessories and nobody was giving them odd looks. I love this place. I always find something nice here. They tend to have more "professional" clothing than say, Value Village or goodwill. And that is nice! The folks that work here are really nice too. So, if you are a big girl and you've not checked this place out, go to it! read more

This place is plus size heaven. I came here on a trip from Portland, OR - and I will be coming back - maybe even for a special trip just to shop here. Mona and Laura were super helpful, AMAZING. I came in looking for something very specific, a 40s inspired dress and accessories. I was blown away at the selection - but what really made the visit great, they were so helpful! Not intrusive people - helpful! I travel frequently so I check out local plus size shops all over the world, and I think they may have the largest selection of plus size consignment I have ever seen in my life. The store is big - so if you get overwhelmed by that - do not despair, the ladies let me pull a mother load of stuff and stock it in my dressing room so that I tried on (over 25 items) at one time. And while I tried on - they helped me style what I was putting together with better pieces, accessories, etc. Can't say enough good stuff. read more

I've been going to Two Big Blondes (2BB) since they were located in Georgetown (very close to the now defunct Happy Cooker, which had an awesome yet cheap teriyaki meal), so I'd say for a good fifteen years! While some aren't as impressed as I am (including a co-worker from eons ago), that actually makes me a little happy 'cause it means more for me. But I am completely puzzled at the Portland reviewer - and think perhaps she owns the Portland store she touts and wants people to come down there... In any case, let those naysayers write their own reviews!!!\ I used to frequent the likes of Goodwill, Value Village, and Children's Hospital Thrift Shop in Kent. While I occasionally do still go to those old haunts (and only usually when my "normal size" mother-in-law comes into town in the Summer), it just makes way more sense to save the time and gas money to go to 2BB where I can get everything I need right in one place. And that's especially true during one of the semi-annual bag sales where you can get a lot of your year's clothes and sometimes shoes for less than the price of one item anywhere else! That plus the clearance room (stocked with bargain clothing, shoes, and purses) seem to fulfill almost all my clothing needs. (Although I did splurge on a full-price Marina Rinaldi jacket, partially to make up for the many years of cheapness!) Oh, and for those of you who can't make it to the Central District (CD) location, feel free to go to the eBay store which, unfortunately, doesn't have the selection and is less affordable than the actual store but which does, of course, ship. To the lady who got "weird looks": "big" clothing is hard to find, especially in either a consignment venue or thrift shop. Even if you're in just finding shoes or jewelry, still many larger women feel impinged upon. Just imagine it this way: out of hundreds of stores in the greater Puget Sound, only one had your size clothing and nothing but. Rather than go in one of the hundreds of stores that had their size, these women are going in the one store that has your size. (And even shoes usually need to be a little wider for bigger women and boots - there are quite a few "normal size" that won't fasten over our ample legs.) I bet you'd get a little testy, too. So, in closing: if you're a size 14 on up, you most likely will find something to suit your needs and fancies. From sweat suits to wedding dresses and from high fashion designer to cheaper brands, there's a wide variety for the plus size woman. read more
