The shop in Ballard is a dreamy place to discover primo vintage clothing both for women and men. It's got a vintage boutique vibe while the University location is a bit more uh, casual and a thrift shop. Ironically, the people are not the friendliest in the Ballard location- I've shopped there for years but am often ignored by the hipster sales staff even if I'm the only other person. My experience at the University is the opposite- super friendly cashier who was warm and welcoming. They have a beautiful website and Instagram page so there's lots of options to explore this exquisite (but sometimes snooty) business. read more

Such a gem! I have found great things here like: -a vintage 60s party dress to wear as a bridesmaid dress -an 80s Oscar de la Renta dress to wear as a wedding guest -an amazing handknit cowichan sweater for my husband -the perfect tiny vintage Hawaiian shirt for my toddler I especially appreciate the size labels on the hangers and the waistline inches on the tags. That helped me target try-ons appropriately, especially since vintage sizes and modern sizes can be pretty different. read more

My experience here was a weird one. It's a really well merchandised store, and their stock is decent which is why I'm giving it 3 stars. I saw a 30s coat that I really loved which fit me perfectly, but felt was overpriced (I've been collecting vintage clothing for 15 years). I left the store to mull it over for 24 hours. The next day I returned to view the coat again. I noticed some collar damage, and I still couldn't get over the price tag so I asked the employee if the owner would take 10% off (this, by the way, is standard in EVERY antique mall across the country when you're paying cash). The employee refused, insisting that the owner never negotiates. This struck me as weird for several reasons. First, do you really think women are clamoring to purchase this slightly beat up 30s coat in Seattle (one of the most sartorially casual cities I've ever visited)? Second, when the difference between selling the coat and not selling the coat is a paltry 10% - why would you not prefer to sell it? In the end, I relented (the first and last time I'll ever do that). While wearing the coat I got stabbed DAILY with loose pins that unbeknownst to me had been left throughout the interior. I swear I found at least 15 of them. They didn't even fully examine the piece before slapping an exorbitant price tag on it. If I'm in the area again I'll probably stop in, but I'd much rather shop at Trove down the road. read more

I can sniff out a vintage store like a pig can sniff out a truffle. And let me tell you baby, this place has got the good goods. No sooner than I stepped foot inside but hello, I did spy a sweet little cropped Asian jacket, made in Hong Kong with ¾ sleeves. The darling jacket fit me just right and I'll be damned if it wasn't priced right too. When the clerk rang up the sale, I found that as I live in Oregon, all I had to do was show my Oregon ID and I didn't have to pay the sales tax. Heed this warning, make sure you're getting what you want the first time. Very negative experience, the only positive I found is the interesting old clothes. This is the same management as the one in university way What's the point of a return or exchange policy if you're cross analyzed and investigated for a single return with a receipt in deadline? I couldn't even get my store credit back for a leather jacket I bought there, even after calling in beforehand. The manager rubbed me the wrong way she is intentionally evasive and uses her employees to reduce returns through confrontation on her policy (which was followed). This makes the employees visually uncomfortable. All I wanted was a garment with a good fit and to check both my options in both stores ballard and university way. To make matters worse store credit is given to you on a small flimsy peice of paper, so if you're going to be using it they will also probably skeptical of you especially if you go to there other store. Not only did I feel unwelcome shopping here, even after deciding to spend twice as much and not getting what I wanted, I've wasted my time and money read more

Lovely selection for both men and women. Owner was willing to stay 30 minutes past closing to wait for me and patiently answered the questions I had about their Etsy store. Clothing racks specify the size so you can browse efficiently. Prices are a tad higher than Trove around the corner but still reasonable. Follow their Instagram for the best stuff. read more

Best vintage store I've been to in America. Not a huge selection but the taste is supreme. The work has been largely done for you picking out the good stuff. Good quality, great cuts and a broad selection of styles across the decades. PLUS and this is what makes it THE BEST in my opinion, the price is very reasonable. Which means you can get a haul without worrying too much. After all, it's only vintage. It should be cheaper than buying new. 10/10 read more

I came in here the other week, looking for a 1930s or 1940s dress for a holiday party. It was very last minute shopping, but I had no other time. The gentleman at the front desk couldn't think of any 30s/40s party dresses in my size off the top of his head, but he did answer my questions about a few and was quick to help. I actually found about five different options, which is pretty impressive considering that I'm a modern day size 10 and 30s/40s women were evidently all very tiny. ("Makes sense with the Depression," said the shopkeeper.) I didn't find anything but I appreciated the range of choices. This is a well-curated shop and there is a LOT to look at. One of if not the best vintage in Seattle. Reminds me of some of the great vintage stores in SF or NYC.

I had been hunting for a specific scarf for some time & stumbled across the perfect one on the Lucky Vintage Etsy account. However, I wasn't too keen on the idea of paying $50 for a pre-used scarf I'd never seen/touched so I reached out to the store owner. She had the scarf shipped to the Ballard location for me within hours for viewing without commitment to purchase. The scarf was beautiful so I did, indeed, purchase... but A+ for customer service! I was in a bit of a rush so didn't have much time to browse, but I did see a few nice pieces that seemed reasonably priced. I'll definitely be back. read more

I love Lucky Dry Goods! This new vintage boutique is the perfect addition to a rustic neighborhood of brownstones and old buildings in Ballard. The shop is custom from head to toe, from the wood built ins, racks, etc. It truly is more than a boutique, but a fashion museum/ gallery. The best part about this shop is that there's something for everyone there...men, women, and children. They have an amazing selection of exclusive denim, work wear, flannels, rocker tees, leather jackets, and boots for men. And for the ladies dainty day dresses, embellished cocktail and evening frocks, bags, accessories, and jewelry. I recently bought a 1940s sage rayon dress for $36 and a patchwork silk top for $18. That's a steal! While prices vary from the $100's and up, there is a wide selection of other goods under $50. A great place to find a special occasion dress, statement piece, and or gift.
