Horseshoe is a gem in our Ballard neighborhood. The women that work there are kind, authentic, and genuinely want to help. Normally, I am not a big shopper, I don't like buying things for myself and generally get in and get out of a retail space. Horseshoe is different. My experiences are have always been lovely and smile filled. The space is one that I am eager to step into, never rushing to step out. Horseshoe is a fabulous women's boutique. It is small yet mighty with a lot of products. I appreciate that they change out their selection regularly and are genuinely friendly and happy to help you shop but are not pushy. Overall, it is a pleasant space and has a great selection of all price points. In the hot weather, the dressing rooms can be a bit hot and stuffy. This store has consistently carried an incredible, beautifully curated selection of apparel, accessories, jewelry and skincare since it's inception in the mid-late 2000s. I think what sets this place apart from so many apparel boutiques that they have a wonderfully eclectic offering - they carry a little something for everyone, ie: bohemian, classic, eclectic, preppy, yet it all feels cohesive and it makes sense in their space. I stopped in yesterday for the first time in several years - pandemic, a move - and was thrilled to find that the level of taste and quality is still on point. The staff was beyond sweet, helpful, and very approachable. I ended up purchasing an amazing Etica denim dress which I LOVE! I always love going here when I'm in Ballard. They're on the main stretch, which makes popping in for shopping quite easy. The employees are always spunky and eager to help. They're also great at suggesting what looks best on their customers. Their jewelry selection is great. There are several cases with various artists, making each piece unique that I pick out. Love this shop! The staff is very helpful and super friendly. The best part of the shop is their personal styling appointments. I typically don't have a lot of time to shop and browse, so sending items I'm interested in beforehand is incredibly helpful. They have all of the items ready in a dressing room and also pick out extra styles based on your preferences. The prices are quite reasonable and they carry very quality brands. Love Love this store so much. This has become one of my very favorite boutiques in the US. I make a point to stop here and stock up whenever I'm in town. The ladies are so helpful, positive and supportive and have helped me branch out and grow my style. I had an issue with a purchase and the manager has assured me, that even though it was a while ago, they will accept the item being mailed to them. The wonderful ladies had stayed open a bit late helping choose a bunch of last minute items on my last night in town. I had chosen so many great things that there was a mix up and one item that was not meant to be included was included and charged to me. I have been horribly busy and it took me a while to unpack here at home and find it. So I was so grateful when she said they would accept the item. I can not wait to visit again. Love this shop. Cute tees and hoodies and jeans etc. and awesome cowboy boots too! The owner has a great eye and loves scarves, so there are baskets of them -- sorted by color -- all over the store. She stocks lots of smaller labels -- Prairie Underground, my new favorite -- as well as the standard small boutique fare. Loved the sales staff too -- no pressure, super helpful. Second time proves its charm once again here! Bleak and rainy as I walked in, I was greeted by two cheerful sales staff who helped me rummage through the sale stuff to find what I (thought) I was after. They encouraged me to take my time, even put my umbrella and purse behind the counter as I ventured through the store. I ended up finding a gorgeous leather jacket, but alas XS too small. The sale's associate promptly checked the back for any additional sizes - but no dice. Instead she offered to search for the same jacket, just one up the size and would call to let me know. I am 62 years old, and went into this store with little hope of finding anything age-appropriate. What luck! I said I was looking for comfortable casual, and was set up in a dressing room with the most perfect pieces. I was puzzled by some of the size choices, but the young woman helping me knows what she is doing. I bought almost everything I tried on, and I may go back for more. I love strolling down Ballard Ave. on a lazy Saturday afternoon, daydreaming about an expendable income to blow on boho-chic pieces from all the little boutiques that line the street. My first stop? Horseshoe. This place is full of distressed boots, pretty layering tops, and tailored coats with all the right accessories to wear with them. I felt like torturing myself last weekend and went in to check out the new merch: amazing, per usual. I left with a deep ache in my heart and the certainty that everything I own sucks. Wardrobe insecurity aside, I still get some satisfaction just being surrounded by lovely, expensive things. And the ladies in here are so warm and friendly. One day, I hope to purchase a head-to-toe look from Horseshoe. Until that day, I'd like to wear a shirt that says, "I'd dress better if I had more money." read more

The very best part of this store: Prairie Underground. Soft hoodies and blazers with a decidedly Helena Bonham Carter twist, as my brother put it. Is that a tiny bit of steampunk in your sweet little hoodie? Why yes, yes it is. I also saw lots of Velvet, one of my favorite lines of all time, and a wide range of price points. I think I found the lace Toms I want to wear for my wedding in October. We had lots of help from the staff, and my brother was able to pick up some fun little gifty things here. Nice dressing rooms, good décor, and an overall pleasant experience. About ten minutes into our shopping excursion here, my brother realized this shop occupied the same space as an old store called Olivine. He had taken me shopping in college for some clothes that I still have today. What a fun little reminder of how long (and in how many cities) that man has taken me shopping! We really enjoyed our visit and will certainly be back. read more

I love this shop. It's a fantastic antidote to Seattle's lackluster retail scene. --Sales staff is friendly. They remember repeat customers and know just what to recommend. --They're helpful with sizing--not just finding your size, but helping you choose the correct one when you're between sizes. --The selection is fantastic... Not too trendy, fresh easy casual styles. Other than Nordstrom, Totokaelo, and Show Pony, it's the only non-vintage shop I frequent. I purchased a super cool hoodie there only to have material pull apart after one wear, the store gave me instore credit (which I'm totally cool with) the girls there told me I need to be very careful wearing that kind of material cause it tends to fray. I totally get that but for 98$ it shouldn't fall apart like. I will totally shop there again! read more

Ballard's version of Anthropologie! My favorite clothing boutique in Seattle hands down. I come here every Sunday while wandering the Ballard Farmers Market. The ladies who work here are incredibly friendly and helpful, even going so far as to pull stock and sizes from the back room that align with your personal style. A bit dangerous to come here on a budget, as I literally can't leave without finding at least one new treasure I have to buy. Unique and lovely clothing, and did I mention they also carry vintage consignment boots? I've purchased two pairs of 1970s Frye and Dexter riding boots that I wear nearly every day during the spring and summer. One thing I really appreciate about Horseshoe is the variety of product they carry and their ever rotating inventory. Every week I stop by there's new eye candy to oogle. Typical item pricing is anywhere from $70-250. Be sure to take a close look at the decor! It's rustic, creative and plenty cute! read more

If I was a chick, I'd go here for clothes. Sadly, this is a womans-only clothing store; so I felt a little left out. You might find some guys in the center of the store tinkering on their phones, glued to their woman (& handing them their wallet), or quietly sitting outside on the stoop. Eventhough I couldn't look for clothes here, I still had a nice time in here. Women had smiles on their faces, and I had a grand time checking out the photography on the walls. The huge B&W photos of horses straight up captivated me (it's until I sat and typed that I made the connection between Horshoe--the store and the horse photos!). If I had thousands of dollars, I would have bought each and every horse photo (they were here courtesy of photographer, Janet Mesic-Mackie). The clothes and women in here look good, and the Horseshoe clothes definitely play a part. So yeah, eventhough I can't get clothes here, I have to give this joint a solid 4.5 stars. So yeah, I come here to be envious of women. read more

I love shopping at Horseshoe. The staff always has great suggestions so I can find just what I'm looking for in no time. In regards to their return policy- I think it's more than fair. If you want Nordstrom's return flexibility shop at Nordstrom. You can't compare a small woman owned shop to a multi-million dollar corporate entity. The shear size of Nordstrom means they can negotiate better deals than a small boutique. read more

This place is fantastic, I don't know how you go here and don't buy everything in the shop! Oh, I guess for me it's the lack of a disposable income. High points: The staff is super friendly! The styles are unique and can lead you to exactly what you didn't know you were looking for. The shop is haphazardly disorganized, but that just makes you look at everything! The space is beautiful. I love the clothes and style here! Definitely high-priced, but you get what you pay for. Similar to the prices of TBD department at Nordstrom, if that's helpful. I can't go in here very often because it's so dangerous for my wallet. Lots of good brands, adorable dresses, and unique accessories. The only thing I don't love about this store are some of their policies. I understand it's a small store, which is why I haven't been too bothered by it. The first was a price match. I got a pair of jeans on sale, and came back like 2 days later (I told you, I love this store!), and they were knocked down about 50% more. When I asked for a price match since I had bought them so recently, they said no. Another time, I had a GC that I was told was in the system. I went in to use it because I was in the area, and they couldn't find the card in the system. Since the appropriate manager wasn't there, I was told that they would get back to me but I couldn't use the credit at that time. Sure enough, the manager got back to me promptly the next day, but it was a bummer not to be able use the credit when I was in the area, in the store. Overall, a great boutique, but would love to see a few store policies updated since they have such a loyal customer base. read more

Visited this past weekend when I was wandering around Ballard. The store itself is beautiful, immaculate, and very well-organized. The people who work there are very friendly; and as I gathered clothes from the racks, they were quick to take them from me and put them in a dressing room so that my hands weren't too full to continue pawing through the lovely items they stock. Definitely a pricier store. I was in a particular mood and willing to drop some cash, so I was okay with that, but on a different day I would have walked in and out pretty quickly based on the cost. There also wasn't a very big range of sizes - the largest numbered size I found in a certain dress was an 8 (and it was a REALLY gorgeous dress and one that I had coveted online for a while - I was excited to find it and disappointed when it didn't fit). I tried on a few dresses. Everything seemed to be well made (though much of it was made in China, so the price tags were a little harder to justify), mostly indie designer wares. I ended up with a soft, cream-colored sweater tunic with sequins across the chest, and a Tart dress with black illusion paneling along the sides, emphasizing all my curves in the nicest possible way. The lady who rang me up told me that if I hadn't bought it, she would have! One thing in particular that I really enjoyed about Horseshoe was its immense dressing room. I had plenty of room to prance around as I tried things on, there was a big mirror, and the lighting was incredibly flattering. Other stores should take note that I spent way more than I intended to in Horseshoe because of their wonderful dressing room lighting (ahem, Nordstrom's). read more

Horseshoe is always on my go-to store whenever I'm in the area. And it is certainly go-to store if I'm looking for a dress. Whether I'm looking for a dress to a wedding, a strappy dress for the summer, or a dress to dazzle, I have the most luck here, more so than any other store in the city! But it's not just about dresses. This boutique store has a great selection of tops, jeans, skirts, sweaters, handbags, scarves, hats, and jewelry. The store is nicely organized and has a quaint feeling to it. The sales associates are helpful and attentive without being too aggressive. I always want a truckload of stuff when I'm in this store but prices are a bit steep for that, partly because the quality of their merchandise is really high. I have, however, managed to find a few quality items within my budget. Thank-you, Horseshoe, for being a boutique store with style but without the attitude! read more

I received a gift card to Horseshoe last Christmas but Covid prevented me from using it. Fast forward one year later I decided to call and discus their COVID protocols they had in place. They were beyond accommodating and suggested shopping early in the morning. I was able to go in yesterday and had a wonderful experience. The sales associates were very friendly and helpful as I looked around and found some really great items. Megan was awesome and made this experience great! Really cute store with awesome clothes that are stylish, but not too too trendy. I usually just peruse boutiques, but rarely buy, due to price and sizing (I'm really tiny, like an adult child, and women's clothing that fit is hard to find). However, I found the best fitting dress and I had to have it. It was relatively cheap compared to a) other dresses in the store and b) other boutiques in the area. Staff are very attentive and helpful. Store is neat (as much as it could be with the amount of clothes they have) and clean. Only a few dressing rooms for a fairly large store, but I didn't seem to have a problem with a wait. Would return again to shop :) read more

Great little boutique shop. The staff is extremely helpful, but does not pester you. They have a pretty fun and unique selection of clothing. I love their boots! However, they are on the spendy side. My friends and I stopped in there late one night, right before closing, and the women behind the counter let us take time with our decisions without shooing us out or making us feel like they were ready to bolt the moment we left. read more

This is my favoritest place in all of Ballard and if you knew what I often come to Ballard for then you know how much weight this statement holds! I came to find this "Happy Happy Joy Joy Place" at the boutique sale hosted at the place the signs my paychecks, Meydenbauer Center. The Horseshoe has come quite accustomed to my paychecks, because I gladly give them large chunks of them quite often! So when you meet someone special, you almost know it immediately. Sometimes your eyes connect for a second longer then they should, you pay closer attention to what they say, you brainstorm ways in which to "have" to talk to them... Well the same kind of thing happened between the Horseshoe and I. When I met the Horseshoe they weren't showing off all their cuteness as they had a temporary area set up with curtains at the Warehouse sale. But I couldn't help but notice the most adorable top with seersucker accents! I convinced myself I needed to stop and be friendly, I am the Event Sales Manager afterall (rationalizing and making excuses to talk is normal when you have this much chemistry!) Then I convinced myself that I would let the shirt caress my naked body just for a second, just to see how it would look (more rationalizing.) But then it looked more amazing then I guessed (instant chemistry!) That is when Jill (owner) and Judy (Jill's mom) stepped in with the experts touch. I was naked within seconds and trying on the whole store. It was the most fun my naked self had in a long time! I skipped away off into the sunset with adorably cute boots I might add with probably every single thing they had in my size! I knew it was a special moment for all of us because Jill and Judy gave me a free dress, just because! A store would never do that unless the time I spent naked in their dressing room meant as much to them as it did to me! The Horseshoe and my relationship has continued to flourish. You want some sex me up and make someone want to do some naughty things all the while making your tush and boobies look yummalicious but not seem like you are asking for it at all? Well they got it! The Horseshoe will look like you look that cute always! Plus they have the best boots in the whole city! Not to mention when you want to be both almost naked and wet they have Cosabella to help get your sexy swim on! The boots have the direct side effect of getting asked on lots of dates, dance on top of bars, and be an extra big flirt because you know that you look adorable! The dresses are the best in the city and I know all my good dress shops extremely well! I know I have said this place and that place are fantastic, and they are. But I have been shown the light and found my true soulmate in The Horseshoe! Horseshoe has the girly girl sweet dress, paired with cutsie lingerie and sassy vintage boots giving you the innocent with a bit of naughty look that makes us women look the perfect kind of sexy! I'm writing this on behalf of my fiance who recently purchased a dress at this store. Horseshoe is in a great location in Ballard and it has a good, cute selection of apparel and merchandise. It is slightly on the expensive side but that's typical of small, local boutiques. The poor rating is a reflection of the stores refund/exchange policy. The policy expires after 10 days of purchase. This is a very strict policy (typical again of small, local boutiques) when compared to chain stores like Free People, Nordstrom, etc. However, this wouldn't be as much of a problem if the saleswoman had explained the policy upon my fiance's purchase of the dress. Fiance purchased another dress at a store across the street with a 7 day return policy but the saleswoman explained the policy which makes it much easier to remember. This type of behavior makes it hard to support local businesses. We want to support them but by enacting such un-customer friendly policies it makes it difficult. If she had purchased it at a chain store we wouldn't be taking pictures of it right now to sell on ebay/craigslist. The Horseshoe also wouldn't have lost a customer because of this. read more

I usually find something cute, but even if I don't find anything I buy something small just to support such a wonderful and creative businesswoman. She is always pleasant, helpful and friendly, but never steps over the line into pushy and annoying.
