I'm writing this on behalf of my fiance who recently purchased a dress at this store. Horseshoe is in a great location in Ballard and it has a good, cute selection of apparel and merchandise. It is slightly on the expensive side but that's typical of small, local boutiques. The poor rating is a reflection of the stores refund/exchange policy. The policy expires after 10 days of purchase. This is a very strict policy (typical again of small, local boutiques) when compared to chain stores like Free People, Nordstrom, etc. However, this wouldn't be as much of a problem if the saleswoman had explained the policy upon my fiance's purchase of the dress. Fiance purchased another dress at a store across the street with a 7 day return policy but the saleswoman explained the policy which makes it much easier to remember. This type of behavior makes it hard to support local businesses. We want to support them but by enacting such un-customer friendly policies it makes it difficult. If she had purchased it at a chain store we wouldn't be taking pictures of it right now to sell on ebay/craigslist. The Horseshoe also wouldn't have lost a customer because of this. read more

I'm so happy Horseshoe got a bigger space - although sad that the boutique it moved into is gone. I love the owner, Jill. I usually find something cute, but even if I don't find anything I buy something small just to support such a wonderful and creative businesswoman. She is always pleasant, helpful and friendly, but never steps over the line into pushy and annoying. I always look forward to my experience at this boutique - and now that they are selling my friend Tia's beautiful jewelry - I love it even more. read more

At first visit, the warm and honest sales associates listen to your likes and needs and thoughtfully, patiently help you find exactly what you are looking for. When you return, because that first experience left you glowing inside, you are greeted by name (because they remember not only what you bought, but who you ARE), and also with, "We have just the shirt for you!" (because they remember not only who you are, but what you like!) And I'm not rich. Not by any means. I don't spend gobs of money, but I do appreciate quality clothes with a subtle edge. I have a minor t-shirt obsession, and Horseshoe has helped me to develop my wardrobe in a healthy manner. And when I did need to kick it up a notch and find an affordable outfit for a wedding, I went straight to Horseshoe, where two inspired, fashion-forward associates NAILED it with a killer, one-of-a-kind skirt (under $100) and of course, a fabulous t-shirt. This place is darling - I guess they recently moved to Ballard from Freemont - either way it is a nice addition to the growing # of shops in the area. My friend and I stopped in and the people there were super friendly. Although a lot of the pieces are pricey I got out spending under $30 with a scarf that I love. They also carry an amazing convertible dress that can be worn all kinds of ways - you have to see the pictures to believe it! My friend bought one - I guess they're selling out of them. The space is fun and they do a good job carrying the theme through with a bigger selection of cute (but expensive) cowboy boots. It is a good shop - I'll make sure to stop in next time I'm in Ballard. read more

Cute boutique with a cool western vibe-but the prices are just too high!! I am not expecting a Forever 21 price point or anything and I realize it is high quality clothing, but it was just excessive. I even heard another customer ask the staff "why is everything SO expensive?"! Overall, really cool stuff and friendly staff, but unfortunately not economical whatsoever. read more

I've *wanted* to like this store since I first moved to N. Seattle - but I just DON't_ I quite frankly do not see what what the "big deal" is- I've encountered a lot nicer/hipper boutiques in my lifetime in NYC/SF/London. The selection is..."meh...".... never really found anything here I really liked, to be honest. Oh, and sooooo many cute susana monaco dresses. Had no idea this designer even existed until I got one of her dresses at Horseshoe. This is the dress that you throw in a large handbag to fly to the Caribbean at a moment's notice. This is the dress you can wear with boots and a jacket to work and then have your very own day-to-night-barbie moment and wear out to a grownup play date. This may explain why I have three of these dresses, or it may be that I just like dresses, but they are killer, and I think Horseshoe is the only place to get them in Seattle. read more

First off it was probably the first place in my life that I didn't feel uncomfortable to go into a nice store. The employees immediately read my style to find some hidden gems and didn't give that oh she's not going to get anything attitude. If I could have an entire wardrobe it would all be here. Even my best guy friend said you gotta get stuff from here. Really cute shop - and love the location on Ballard Ave. I have yet to buy anything since I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for quite yet. But they have some amazing things. The dresses are to die for, and lots of great Ella Moss and Splendid tops (my faves!). This may sound strange, but one of my favorite features here are their dressing rooms. They almost feel like a room from an old farm house - they're really cute! And they have their own door and curtain inside the door for extra privacy. Loved that I felt like I was in my own little world while I tried on clothes :) Hopefully, the next time I swing by, I'll find just the thing to round out my (already) bulging wardrobe...! read more

I absolutely LOVE this boutique! The girls are so helpful and nice, and they are always chiming in on what looks good and what they think will look good on me. The store itself is nice, clean, and organized, and it has a great vibe. It's just a fun experience to shop here. The clothes are all great quality and are fairly unique, and every item I've ever purchased here I still have, and I still get complimented on. And their collection of cowboy boots is awesome- I'm not one to wear cowboy boots, but every time I go in I kind of wish I was. Overall, this is one of my favorite places to shop, and I will continue to go back for the style and the service. read more

This is the boutique that first made me realize I needed to kick my Anthropologie addiction and start shopping at the great, local boutiques around here. (Horseshoe and Show Pony, in Fremont, are my absolute two favorites. The horse theme is entirely coincidental.) Beautiful clothes, a small selection of awesome shoes (I got a super comfortable, gorgeous yellow pair of Fly London shoes over Spring) and they sell Butter London nail polish here, too. Horseshoe is the kind of place that my husband always walks by, sees something in the window, tells me I have to have and it turns out to be perfect. Every time. If you want unique pieces in an often hum drum style universe like Seattle, this place stands out. Some pieces can be a little pricey but a good many are very affordable; and its all worth it (don't forget to check the jewelry). This is where I get my funky casual day wear and some of my stylish evening duds. And after I lost all the baby-weight, this was the place I went to get a whole new wardrobe (along with Ian downtown and Les Amis in Fremont). The owners and staff are really nice and extremely helpful. I am definitely a regular. read more

Ok, so one free day without the man attached at the hip led to aimless wandering down Ballard Ave. After a few ins and outs at other boutiques, I stumbled into this place and had to force myself to leave. (New dress in hand, of course!) Yes, the dress was a teensy bit spendy, however, the girls at the shop were soo nice! And very quick to point out that the color of the dress could easily transition from spring to summer to fall with a few accessory/shoe substitutes. I do wish someone would have suggested a different size when I came out of the dressing room, but hey, I don't expect them to be my personal shoppers and a few days later they happily set aside the same dress one size smaller for me to try on and exchange, no questions asked. Overall, can someone please tell my boss to give me a raise? I have a new raison d'etre! read more

I hail from Northern Virginia/DC area where prices for nearly everything are just exorbitant. So, the fact that this place received three $ really surprised me. I went nuts in here, to me the prices were incredibly reasonable. Literally 7 out of the 8 things I picked up were $48 (one tank top was $56... who cares, still bought it). I did see one top for $125 and it was ugly anyway, so... I bought it all (everything except the ugly shirt). Everything was unique, pretty, feminine and best of all, affordable. Dressing rooms are big and roomy, I felt like Julie Andrews from The Sound of Music in there. The staff were extremely helpful and sweet, the selection was huge and diverse, and it was just an all around fun shopping experience. In fact, it's Thursday today which means they are getting in new inventory. EEEEE! Run don't walk, ladies. read more

If a place is too expensive...dont shop there...and don't give bad reviews because of that. This place has all the charm you need for a pleasant day of shopping. I love this boutique it's my ultimate favorite place to shop. The sales ladies are so nice and they are really helpful. It's a small space but packed with the cutest clothes ever. The prices are a steep but i think it's worth it becasue the clothes are of really good quality. If you head to the back of the store you will find the sale items. We visited here on a girls shopping weekend in Seattle. Love this store!!! Great selection of interesting items and accessories. On a 2 day shopping trip, it's nice to visit a store and not see the same stuff you've seen everywhere else. And the girls in the store are lovely, really helpful without being pushy. I ended up having an issue with a dress I purchased and they went above and beyond to fix the problem. I will be back to buy more on my next visit to Ballard! read more

Went on vacation early in mid-August and bought several great t-shirts and a sundress to take. Loved 3 pieces. One t-shirt pilled and looked sloppy within 5 wears. Asked to speak to the store owner/manager who was not in. Left the shirt and a note. Got a call back the very next day. Got a credit for the shirt due to the wear issue. Made me really happy that they stood behind their clothes. I am fine paying good money for my clothes, but I want them to wear well. Thanks Horsheshoe! read more

This is one of my favorite boutiques in Seattle. The owner is adorable, and the sales staff is amazing. My friends and I always joke that we come here for an ego boost. Whatever we try on, everyone oohhhs and ahhhhs. The clothes are great, good mix with different price points. Most small businesses should model how they treat their customers. read more

This place is pricey-think Anthropology. It is really sad to see Ballard turn into an expensive boutiquey place. I did however find a dress I liked there, and they have some finds. The only reason I am rating this a one star is because of the service. After purchasing a dress and some earrings one day. Earring that I thought were suppose to be 17$ I was surprised by the 194 they actually were-pretty yes-but really?! I was so uncomfortable and was a little shocked I paid it, embarrass to say I couldn't afford it. I cried when I left the shop, I don't usually throwdown 200 for earrings. I realized I should just return them the next day. I was only able to return for store credit and even after telling the lady my story, she wasn't very sympathetic. I mean can you make exceptions since I still spent money on the dress?! A very sad thing what Ballard is becoming and now I have a gift card to spend at that $$$ shop! read more
