This was my first time in this bookstore while I was waiting for my boba and donut at Mochinut. I thought it was like a Barnes and Noble and didn't really pay much attention to the store. My kid wanted to get a set of books and at first I was like, "I bet it's cheaper on Amazon and we can just get it online." I looked it up and it really was half price as the name of the store says. In this case it was more than half price. On Amazon, the same 6-book set was $35.99 but at Half Price Books, it was only $14.99. I get the convenience of ordering books online but at half price I should be getting books from here more often! There was no lines at checkout and service was great. I went here on a date while we were looking at different bookstores on the east side. This is a cute place in a shopping center. I was immediately drawn to their tarot card section. It's one story of used books and a few new ones too. I ended up taking home some American Girl books missing from my collection and manga (Drama Con) from my childhood. The value is amazing here! My books came down to $20 for the whole bundle. Highly recommend this place if you need decent second hand finds. Service was very kind to show my the somewhat hidden children's section. Medium sized book store that also has video games, board games, post cards and other bookstore type items (tote bags, bookmarks, small shelf collectibles) Nice knowledgeable staff, knows where the books are, overall place is well organized. I really enjoyed visiting this used book store on my trip to Bellevue. I spent a couple of hours browsing all of the shelves. It's very well organized and if you were looking for something in particular I'm sure you could find it here! I asked the staff about a couple of books and they were able to help me find what I was looking for and even offered to have another store send me a book they didn't have in stock at the Bellevue location. The bookstore is attached to a shopping center so there is a lot to do in the area. I was able to take the bus with my Orca card very easily from the Bellevue transit center. read more

I've had a lifelong love/not-love relationship with Half Price Books. First off, before you visit, you sorta have to get over the fact that their books aren't actually half price. I mean, maybe they used to be, back in the beginning. But I get it: overhead, staffing, inflation, etc. It would be hard to run a business and charge half price for everything. Once I resigned myself to the fact HPB was going to cost me a bit more, I started liking them again. And this, their Crossroads store, is one of my favorites. It's HUGE (bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside) and they literally have everything. It's super well-organized too, and they have lots of new items too, in addition to used, so it's a great place for gift shopping for that hard-to-shop-for-person in your life (I'm looking at you, Dad). On my most recent visit I picked up some 2023 calendars for Christmas gifts, plus (of course) two solid modern quilting books for my own library. There was only one cashier running check-out, which was minorly annoying during this busy season, but I get it. I'll definitely be back. Most likely to buy that puzzle I was eyeing but couldn't bring myself to by because, seriously, when would I find time to do a puzzle?! read more

I had a great experience here. I haven't bought a physical book in about 15 years so I wasn't sure what to expect. I wanted to buy a few books to use as decoration. This shop has a great selection of current books. They are indeed half price. In one of the books there was the original receipt from 2010 and the book cost $8 and I bought it for $9. What a deal. The books I bought are in great condition and I'm happy with the price. Most books are under $10. I got a Peter Rabbit book for $3 and it looks brand new. Staff is very friendly. They looked up a few books for me. If they don't have it in store they can ship it to their store for free pick up later. Highly recommend this place. Older style, bright, clean, and welcoming. They seem to have something for everyone and 90% of the time I'm at Crossroads I will hope in and take a look. That pretty much sums it up, love it! The selection was quite vast, I love how each section seemed to be perfectly displayed for its audience (children's books were reachable, gaming and comics were neatly and appropriately organized, etc.) The employees were very helpful and so very nice as well! read more

This Half Priced Books holds a special place in my heart. It's inside the entrance to the bustling Crossroads mall across from Coldstones; it used to be attached to a Starbucks which will soon be converted into Mochinut. This bookstore has its own quirky personality and large selection. Linear shelves of fiction stand in the center of the store, childrens and young adult books have their own wing with test prep books and hot new finds in the transition, nonfiction on everything from astrology to cooking line the edges of the store, and DVDs, thrillers and romance are more prominent as you enter from the street. No one will disturb you while you browse but I wish they had more chairs all around. There are some great finds and I come back often to check their rotating inventory. The selling counter is to the right of the street entrance and they provide carts. Excellent customer service - call in to schedule your drop-off time slot. read more

Wouldn't recommend this location at all! Wasted time bringing 3 full bags of dvds and blue rays in, some premium titles, only to be told they would offer $26 dollars? I'd dump all of this in a recycling bin before I'd ever accept that low for all of these items. And then, while waiting, we were actually shopping and my husband was vlogging. But a whiny, entitled, GenZ boy with green hair, decided to go whine to whom I assume the manager was, and lie and say he was being filmed. She slithers up to us, and says, "my employee said you filmed them, we don't allow that" essentially in so many words. My husband were appalled, and insulted we were even being confronted about filming, when we have seen COUNTLESS vlogs on YouTube of people in Half Price Books. It's literally 2025, the age of "content". Everyone gets filmed unfortunately even without their knowledge or consent. Get over it and get over yourself. Because the funny part is? I purposely didn't film his funny looking self. I wasn't even focused or worried about him, because I was filming my HUSBAND looking at discs! So I believe I was ACTUALLY racially profiled, and I felt extremely uncomfortable. I was heading to spend even more money on a book, but I changed my mind after that encounter because I felt disrespected and uncomfortable, and no longer wanted to even be in that store let alone spend any more money. Instead, we gladly paid more and headed down to Barnes and Nobles, where we filmed without harassment from their employees. We will never return or give you all anymore business. And my husband shopped here OFTEN. Lowballing us was one thing. Disrespecting and racially profiling us was another. Don't want filming? Put it on your door. We weren't the first or the last to film. And tell your employees to get over themselves and grow another pair. read more

I hadn't been to this location in years but I used to visit frequently when I lived in Kirkland. I was pleasantly surprised at how much it's changed. I've been shopping at Half Price Books for decades and now mostly at the Lynnwood store. I almost wish Crossroads (and Bellevue in general) wasn't so far away to give me an excuse to come here more often. I love that the entrance from the street has a "two-windows high" row of books. Reminds me of the Everett library and it's a nice touch! This store has a whimsical feel to it, enticing you inside, like a toy store and makes you want to explore. I love the way it's laid out and I REALLY like that the Buy-Back Counter is in the front instead of the back the way it is in Lynnwood. MUCH less awkward. It's much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside and I like that it opens out into the food court. Crossroads Mall has changed for the better since I last visited and that includes Half Price Books. read more

Customer service should be a basic requirement if you are working customer service. I can tell you guys need some training on this so I will provide you with some feedback on areas where you absolutely missed the mark on April 25th 2022 at 12: 17pm with Cashier CHam022. Reg 1: 1. GREET CUSTOMER: Examples of this would be, "hello, hi, howdy, greetings fellow humans," really you can get creative here, but try a respectful greeting would go a long way in starting. Especially when there's a little kid customer too- try being a nice human to little kids. **Simply taking items from the counter and ignoring the humans handing them to you without any audible words when you are not a mute human is just rude. Yes, I had to say it, she was dang rude! MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH CUSTOMER- I doubt your cash register gal will even remember this transaction because I am fairly certain she never even looked at us directly. 2. SMILE/PRETEND YOU ARE HAPPY: don't mope around and act like I'm a pain in the ass for visiting and wanting to buy books. 3. SAY THANK YOU! they say "show gratitude," or "customer appreciation," but let's just say this is BASIC MANNERS. Some call it common sense, but we all know it ain't common at all. :( Honestly you guys I can't believe you hired this person, let alone let her be on the register alone. Please go back and review her work, give her some coaching, maybe she had a bad day, but rest assured if we ever visit this one again, we will never let her cranky ass ring us up. DO NOT sell your books/CD/DVDs to them. We had over 100 used books, DVDs and CD's all in good condition. Got $16.35 for the whole thing. Looked on their shelves, they were selling CDs and DVDs for $4.99. Quite a profit on their part. Next time I'll donate to a charity and write it off on my taxes. read more

If you want to purchased used books and pay more than new ones at Target, Barnes & Noble, etc, then this is the place for you. Paid $23+tax for a used copy of "The Fury- Alex Michaelides" only to find out that they're $20 at Target (not on sale).... even cheaper on Amazon. On top of that, they offered $2.64 for 4 popular "like new condition" books. They want us to shop small business but how can we.... with prices likes these at a store called "half priced books"... won't be coming back. read more

We meandered into Half Price Books on our way to dinner. I was on the hunt for a particular gift for my cousin's upcoming birthday. I walked thru the aisle mazes just taking it all in. The store is huge - cluttered book stock from times past up to present day. Tons of diverse title selections to delight every level of readers' interest. There's always something reassuring about the smell of a musky used bookstore emanating knowledge. Breathe in deeply, you'll automatically feel smarter via osmosis or be transported to another time or country. I could wander for hours looking at all of the authors' contributions to the world stage. We didn't have unlimited time on our hands this visit, so I asked one of the employees behind the counter for a little help. He was gracious to make a few suggestions and point me in the right direction. Unfortunately, Half Price didn't have what I was looking for, but I was grateful for the visit, albeit short. I'll be back in the future when I have more time to stay longer, relax and linger. read more

I can't say enough about Half Price Books! This place is the best thing in my life right now. Books, CDs, vinyl - they have it all and a big diverse selection of it. I love stopping by here to get books for prices that can rival Amazon. It's a great place to go to if you just want to buy some books and you aren't sure of something specific. You never know what you are going to find, but you will find something for sure. I went here recently to get books on graphic design and photography. These type of books are usually very expensive because there is so much print/colors in them. I found three great ones and even was able to use a coupon for 20% off they had going that weekend, which was awesome! I got three books for around $30 that would have probably been closer to $150 new at a store. I left very happy. This is the sort of thing that happens at Half Price Books. I'm always surprised at how cheap the books are here. You can even sell books back to them too if you want. All in all I love this place, I'll definitely be back! read more

Very nice selection of gifts and books and well organized. That said the price they give for books is appalling! I have been a customer for many years and am used to getting little for my books, but this last visit ( my last) was ridiculous. I brought it three cartons of books many of which were hardback garden and cookbooks and got under $5! I Will not go to the trouble again- look to goodwill for my collection. Simply put, amazing. UH-MAZING even. I've been coming to this locale for, oh, many many many years. When I was younger we as a family frequently came to Crossroads and stop #1 was here. The most important thing about this place? The books are HALF PRICE. Or more. But at the least half price. I live in Portland now and everyone bows down to Powells While Powells has their insanely huge location, their prices are ridiculous on most of their used selection. Not here - HALF PRICE. The selection tends to be pretty good, but with any book store, you're not always going to find precisely what you want. But that's sort of the fun of it too - you never know what you will find. I've found more books I loved by accident than anything else. I used to buy the heck out of books on tape too - but have an online account for audiobooks so no longer need that. They also have a great selection of DVDs, all priced pretty cheap too. You can also re-sell books here, but don't expect to make much money on that. Which is fine by me, as I'm more of a buyer than a seller anyhow. Service is fine, though I've not needed much help in my book wanderings when I come here. read more

Used books make the world go round. HPB is an awesome trading post for used books. They give predictable, reasonably fair prices if you come in to sell, and they don't gouge you too hard if you come in to buy. They're all like this. This one's pretty good size, and they pack it to the rafters with the goods. It's organized well, and they tend to put stuff you want to read on the shelves. I can always find something here. This location has friendly, funny, helpful staff, like a good bookstore should. They do a better job at hiring likable book lovers than other chains do. read more

The manager of Half Price Books in Bellevue tried to rip me off yesterday. I brought in 17 books to sell. After waiting 40 minutes for the "research and assessment," she said, "I can offer you $5 for all these books." I replied, "How much are you giving me for this top book?" She got a sheepish and embarrassed look. "$3 for the top book and $2 for the next one." "So nothing for the rest of the books?" I asked. Again, looking embarrassed, "No, I will send those books out to our outlet store...or donate them." "Then I will sell these two for $5 and take the other 15 books back," I said. Very dishonest! I love this place! I live in L.A and I always have come here whenever I visit relatives. So many books, neatly organized by subjects; prices are reasonable. Great kids section. Found books by British writer Enid Blyton (hard to find in the states). They sell other media too, DVD, LP, Video etc; Stationery, knick knack. Dr. Who stuff. I've been to two other Half Price books in the Seattle area and this is by far the biggest one. I haven't been to this Bellevue Crossroads store in a while. I've been frequenting the one in Tukwila Southcenter (it's close to where I live) and I dropped by the Redmond store a few times recently. I love the variety you find from store to store. Today took me through Bellevue so I just had to stop by and I'm really glad I did. This is a great location in the Crossroads shopping center. There's lots here to explore and a great selection of my favorite interests, fiction, literature, history, music (all kinds), sci fi, cooking, photography, music and movies... I could have spent the day here easily, my perfect kind of Saturday, but I still had places to go. Anyhow, it didn't take me very long at all to fill my arms with treasure before I had to go. The last time my partner and I were shopping there, we got followed by a staff member. We left because she made us uncomfortable but came back later to keep looking for records. She saw us, walked a few feet away and complained audibly to another employee "he's back," and jerked her thumb at my partner. Then she continued to linger around us as frequently as she could. My partner and I are educators working for nonprofits with advanced degrees and she profiled us based on our appearances so hard that we will probably not come back. I wish I knew what we'd done. I went back and found a seriously warped record that could damage a needle. I showed it to a clerk and explained that it could break a record player, she said that she would take it off the shelf. New and gently used books, DVD's and music CD's in every subject along with a nice is the selection of note cards and calendars. Have books that you are done reading? Bring them in for cash, but do not expect to get a ton of money for them, . Allow some time when bringing books in for cash as it can take up to 30 minutes to find out what they will give you for them.
