My daughter was on the hunt for Harry Potter books to read, she looked up on yelp local book stores and gave a call. They responded with they have what she is looking for (used books) and she was able to get what she wanted. Lucky for us the rack was right up front by the register; bookshop person said HP is very popular and everyone is looking for them. So we snagged up some books, and she is very pleased with her purchase. Summary-Book store staff very help and easy to locate books. Fair amount of parking available, store neat and tidy. Went in to look at this store figured it was a pretty unique place to check out. Started talking to the owner who follow us around the store and was increasingly rude. We were looking at writting an article about some of the local business owners and how they got started, owner refused to provide any information which was fine, however he then told us to leave because he had other customers (No one else was in the store) my associate was looking at buying a couple books as he has frequented this store in the past. I was not impressed. We were respectful; however the owner was an angry judgmental individual who has problems with people of color. read more

I have purchased over 40 books from this store, in only 2 visits. I am going back tomorrow. What does that say about the selection and quality of the books? Also price, I can't make promises but the books I bought were almost all hardback and almost all about $10. And all in EXCELLENT condition. My employer will pay for books, up to an annual amount. The owner of this bookstore was both rude and dishonest. We won't be going back. Save yourself some gas. Half Price Books (which there are many in the greater Seattle and Tacoma area) pay far better for books, and their staff is actually friendly. For Sci-Fi and nerd culture books both Magus Books in Seattle and Tacoma Book Center are far better options, and any Half Price Books can order a copy at a fraction of the cost. read more

This is a great place especially if you enjoy science fiction. There is a great selection and Wayne is quite knowledgeable in helping you find a book with nothing more than, "Wayne, I wish to read an author I've never read before. Got anybody in mind?" Never going to this store, & whoever else is reading this, I highly suggest that you don't go here either. Total waste of time. My husband & I are moving so we gathered up some comics that we sadly parting with. My husband & his friend (who is helping us move) went here & they were treated very rudely by the man that I assume owns this establishment. My husband had called ahead inquiring on the requirements to sell previously owned comics or books. The owner had stated that the books/comics shouldn't have any missing/torn out pages, highlighted/hand writing on pages, or any other type of damage to the book/comics that would deem it unresellable. He never mentioned anything about smells in the phone call. My husband & his friend went to the store in hope of reselling some of the items. They were treated very condescendingly by this guy & turned away due to the smell of smoke on the items when the smell of the store is like feces in a barn on a hot summer's day. Two books that we boxed up didn't have a plastic cover on them while the rest had a plastic covering on them & he only smelled one of them, which was one of the books that wasn't covered in plastic. Unfortunately, we do smoke but there are ways to get rid of that smell on books because I've used those methods of treating it before. Apparently, I guess that this owner is lazy & doesn't do any "maintenance" to anything that he receives, & throws it onto the shelves to sell it at any price that he posts just to make a profit. My husband & I should have done our research on this establishment & would have gone somewhere else than to here. From the other reviews that I just read, what I can add is not only is this man racist to certain people (husband & friend are white) but he is also very lazy & condescending who is just looking to turn someone's stuff into a profit that he overprices. read more

Very large selection of books and comics. They have 350 and older playstation games. They also have those fun pop(?) Dolls.

New, small book shop. Predominantly rack-sized science fiction, but some specialty items within that field such as old pulps -- Astounding, Worlds of If, that sort of thing from the 1950s. Not a wide selection of genres, but within their chosen focus, fairly decent. Three stars for me means I recommend a place within its own city -- couldn't really say to someone else within the region (Redmond, say) to go out of their way. But for Kent itself, a fine addition to Meeker. read more

I came into the store to put together a care basket for a friend- I wanted to fill it with old DVDs and books so this seemed like the perfect spot. Upon arriving, we were not greeted by the person working. I figured he was busy and thought nothing of it. After browsing through the store we noticed we were being followed by the person working there, we were also the only people of color in the bookstore. We stood by the DVDs reminiscing on memories we shared and which DVDs we should get our friend when the person working there asked us to "show some respect" when I asked to who, he said another customer was waiting to look at the DVDs. We were not approached by this other customer, we would have gladly made way for him. Then, the owner told us to leave the store for absolutely no reason other than blatant racism. We asked the other customer if he was waiting for us to which he politely said no, it was the owner that asked him if we were bothering him to which he also said no. My girlfriend and I Stumbled across this spot after dining at Maggie's on meeker. Has a vast selection of books of different genres. Owner was very courteous and highly knowledgable, he was kind enough to recommend a book which my gf enjoyed very much. Would highly recommend anyone to swing by and take a peak.
