In true clockwork fashion, she was able to find two of the three books I was on the hunt for. Spoilers darling... Kindred by Octavia E Butler The Five by Hailee Rubenhold The Possession of Alba Diaz by Isabel Cañas My tastes are all over the place but she found them all We chatted about True Crime in regards to The Five, the story of the women murdered by Jack the Ripper She told me she was an environmental studies student and I shared a recommended book by a friend, The Lost City of Z by Daniel Grann Alexis also my cashier and really made this visit exceptional. Before, I close the door on this review, there were a lot of books on discount or sale. Check out the big blue balloons hovering over the book tables for value finds.

This employee was a middle-aged man with dark hair, glasses and adult acne with the inclination to whistle. When I asked him about the bathroom key, he was incredulous, as if all first-time visitors should know where it is kept. All the sign on the restroom door said was that it was available at the counter opposite it. Forgive me for thinking this meant the employee kept it and handed it out at their own discretion. But I suppose that would be too much responsibility for him. He certainly didn't think customer service was one of his job responsibilities. He spoke with undisguised condescension and irritation, and when I didn't move in such a way that pleased him -- thinking to take the key off its placard rather than take the whole thing with me -- he became even more patronizing. As if he were addressing a child, he used a baby voice to tell me anyone could pocket the key if it wasn't attached to something bigger. All this over something so small as a bathroom key. But this interaction kept him from his larger goal, which was joking around with his younger female coworkers. I felt embarrassed for me. I especially felt embarrassed for him. And I now will think of the Half-Price Books in Tukwila not as a calm, welcoming environment, but as an embarrassment with a bathroom. For this employee, I would suggest practice in: 1. "Hello" 2. "How can I help you?" 3. "Here you are" 4. "It's my pleasure" Simple as that.

I am unsure, though, because this bookseller's name is in two words, instead. Anyway, I press on. I have been buying books from Thriftbooks for many years and have not ever been dissatisfied with the books I have received until now. I received a Celebrate Recovery Bible that had apparently been damaged in shipping. The reason for my searching this company down in order to give them five stars is that they handled the issue calmly and quickly and shipped me out another one, allowing me to just donate my damaged copy to the Salvation Army instead of paying shipping costs to return it to them. The Salvation Army will give it away free, I told them, in my local store. Two extra stars for that! And the customer service representative, Justin, was wonderful. The staff members who dealt with my written complaint were also as wonderful as Justin. Thanks, everyone. A word of "warning" for buyers before you purchase--Thriftbooks purchases arrive in flexible paper packaging, so it IS possible for them to get damaged en route, especially heavy books like Bibles.

I was wrong. Its more than a children's bookstore. They have books for all ages, greeting cards, games, and even toys. Each aisle/section is labeled easily for you to know what type of genre you are looking at. When walking in, was greeted immediately. Wasn't busy 30 minutes before close, but there were still a few people in here besides mem There is an abundance amount of books galore. One side is for kids and one side is for adults/young adults. They have used and new books. There are a few books that have creases on the bind though, but its a small bundle of them. Overall, will definitely come back again.

The kids section is plentiful and I just generally like the layout of the store as this is one of the spacious Barnes & Noble. I am member so I enjoy the additional perks and savings. There is also lots of little nooks and crannies to find a seat throughout the store as you thumb through some of your literary picks. This is a good one right here when it comes to experiencing Barnes & Noble.
