I've read and collected comics since the 70s. 60s 70s and 80s are my favorite. Saying that, Ancient Comics is the best comic store I've ever been to. The walls are meticulously covered in Affordable! fantastic comics. This shop blows the other "comic" shops in Seattle out of the water. Also, my 3 year old is way into comics like Richie Rich, Archie, Casper looney tunes and disney. Go to other shops and they are about 10$ each. Great shop - amazing selection and very knowledgeable owner. Doesn't mind you poking through the bins for hours and he loves to talk about the history of the industry. Not just an owner but also a fan of the hobby. The one critique I have - stuff is maybe a bit on the higher end when it comes to price. I recommend a visit to Ancient Comics for those of you who love to go through back issue bargain long boxes. It's not like you're going to find speculation treasures. You will find hidden treasures for reading fun. I spent an hour there this morning and flipped through four long boxes full of 25 cents comics. The owner was really nice and easy going. I bought a nice stack of comics i.e. Concrete, Jon Sable, The Ultimates, Ms Tree, The Nam, Jonny Quest, Superman, Miracleman, Death, and Supreme. That's a lot of bedtime reading. I'm sure I would have found many others if I had more time at the shop. Unfortunately, I'm here on vacation and had limited time for comic books. I liked the store but I was treated as in wasn't even there. I literally look through all the magic cards and a few co mk is for atleast 30 to 45 mins before asked if I needed help. After I had found what I need I was yet again ignored while the owner talked garbagepail kids with I am guessing a regular that come in. The name is true to what the store has. Upon entering store, I knew I would enjoy shopping there. Could not see the walls......comics, comics, comics. What a true comic store should be, not a gaming store. If you are looking for bronze, copper, silver or golden age, stop looking and go there. We stopped by after having dinner since it was a place we always have wanted to check out. The owner was nice, gave me the boyfriend and his son a free comic book. We couldn't stay to actually browse the store but it was the sons birthday tomorrow. His dad asked the owner when they would be open tomorrow and was told 10:00. Said it was his son's birthday tomorrow and they would be back then. The dad already had his eye on a few things on the wall. So they were going to have a father son day and the comic books stop was going to be their first stop. They have some breakfast at the diner next door and then head over to the comic books store. Not open and it's 10:00, they wait around for about 10-15 mins and still no sign of the owner. Not wanting to waste the day the pair head off to Southcenter. I still want to go back and REALLY check it out but this does leave a sad face. Especially while when I was in the store I heard the owner talking to someone else about people just coming in and not buying their kids stuff. read more

So I yelped around to find a comic book store in Seattle near the airport in order to grab some books for the plane and my collection. Found this place and came in. This place is unlike other comic books stores, they don't have modern books or current books. That section simply does not exist, which was a little disappointing since its the only reason I was looking for a comic book store in the fist place. This place specializes in older comics and trading. So if you are in the market for maybe older books that maybe are missing from your collection this would be a good place to find that. Or if you have some comics you may want to trade or sell them, yes, this might work here. read more

Got back into Comics after I retired and stopped into Ancients for a look. Wasn't really looking for Marvel/DC but to my surprise, I found comics by Leonard Nimoy(Spock) Primortals, Gene Roddenberry's Lost Universe, and others in really good condition for .25 cents each. Visited today. Guy that runs it seems pretty chill and nice. I actually enjoyed how I could just peacefully browse. Amazed at the discounts and sets. I'm an out of towner from Puyallup who will come again when I'm in the area. As a female I didn't feel judged either which was great. :) I think the only recommendation I would suggest is monthly releases coming out now were available and more indie comics. Jeff is AMAZING, INCREDIBLE and probably INVINCIBLE. Great guy who... as he is in my age range.. has many of the same favs as I do in the MCU. Willing to negotiate a bit on more expensive books which is also cool. Best back issue selection I have ever seen under a single roof and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to patronize a privately owned store. Jeff is living the dream ... his store is almost exactly as I had envisioned mine one day (as a teen; life goals change but love for comics has not). SOLID knowledge base, very friendly. I typically go in only every couple of months but always buy a rare book or two and supplies. NO sales pressure... he was going to put back the book I was looking at from his upstairs "MVP room". So happy a genuine guy like this is succeeding with a privately owned "labor of love". I will be back again, and again! Would rather pay a few dollars more for a book to patronize a cool guy like Jeff then take my chances on eBay to be honest. Supporting local business is always a good thing and Jeff makes it a real pleasure! I was met with excellent service when I walked in to pick up a couple comic books. Store was clean, well lit, easy to see what was for sale. Huge selection of items- quarter comics, 50 cents comics, and even pre-packaged sets. I needed to buy a gift for a coworker (but I dont know much about comics) and it turns out the owner is a really great guy! Super nice, very charismatic. Excellent selection of magic cards too- but I didnt have time to inspect it as much. I got a Batman Arkham asylum comic book and a Wolverine- Origins book. This guy named Jeff runs the place and is ooper cool and has tons of wisdom when it comes to super hero's and which comic issue you can find them in. I've been going to Ancient Comics on a regular basis for over a year now and it's arguably the best place I've been to when it comes to finding great deals on comics or Magic: The Gathering (MTG). Jeff (the owner) has been operating in the Burien area since I was back in elementary school, which makes me feel that much more at home when I go there. He has a great selection of both older and newer comics (in fact, he just finished adding a bunch of newer stuff to his collection), as well as lots of Magic cards. The reason I love going to Jeff's place for comics is because his is the only store I've ever been to that has a "50% off" section, as he sells all of the new comics that he has for half off. Aside from having great deals on all of his merchandise, Jeff is just a great guy to hang out with, especially if you wanna talk about comics or Magic, as he is incredibly knowledgeable (with over 20 years of experience) about both subjects. So if you're interested in comics or Magic, are looking for information about a certain issue or card, or just wanna hang out and play a game of MTG then Ancient comics is definitely the place for you. read more
